Really like this store as a great place to pick up some great sting cheese... I think it's the best around! They also have a little deli and ice cream counter in the business. Because this is a "cheese shop" we decided to try their fried cheese curds. Got them "to go" so we could munch on them in the car. They were served with a small cup or marinara. Have to say that I was really let down with my curds. You would think that a cheese factory store would have remarkable fried cheese curds? Not today! Maybe they usually are good.... But the dish we were served was filled with tiny little pieces. Literally the size of a fingernail or smaller. Some were so small they didn't even have cheese in them! I'm sure my order was scraped out of the bottom of the bag. They should have been scrapped, but I'm sure some young kid fry cook didn't know better. String cheese was good however! read more

Driving back from Elkhart Lake, I decided to stop here and check it out. I expected a lot of cheeses, but I didn't expect sausages, a Cedar Crest ice cream counter with at least 12 flavors, a gift shop, and a cafe with fresh made sandwiches! The place wasn't packed, but they were busy. I was still full from brunch or I would have ordered one of the sandwiches. Instead I opted for the WI Sampler, which includes 2 mozz sticks and a 1/2 pound of cheddar cheese curds amd 1/2 pound of pepperjack cheese curds. I could use ranch, marinara, or I think southwrst ranch. I chose marinara which I learned that day is perfect for mozz sticks but only ok for cheese curds. In the past, I thought cheese curds were great with marinara, but now I know the truth due to the side by side comparison. :) Anyway, check this store out! read more

Stopped by whatever cheese store I could find on Yelp because I happened to be in Wisconsin and who doesn't want to snag some cheese when you're in Wisconsin? The place is so cool. So many cheeses to choose from along with snacks that pair with cheese. There's also ice creams and fudge towards the back and non-cheese items you can buy, like a souvenir shirt or kitchen stuffs. A great stop read more

One of my favorite places. Cannot recommend this place enough. To start, the store sells not only cheese, but also dips, meats, ice creams, and a ton of other items. I love how they sell samplers of their sliced cheeses. I like being able to but a smaller amount of I want to. I also love their $1 cheese sticks! They're massive, but so fresh and tasty. My favorite part is the cafe, with their soups, sandwiches, and cheese curds of course. I opt for a cold sandwich (but you can get them hot too) with cheese and veggies. Everything is so fresh and homemade. Amazing. Definitely recommend coming here for a meal, and to stock up on yummy treats! read more

Coolest cheese shop with seemingly hundreds of cheeses along with meats, ice cream and a little deli. We ended buying the string cheese and do not regret that. It is the stringiest cheese ever. We also got honey ham sticks that were so good, sweet and could eat so many of them! We got some Mac and cheese at the deli and grabbed a cup of strawberry cheesecake ice cream before heading out. Would go back again next we are in WI. The staff was also super nice read more

What a fun cheese shop! We were on our way back to the airport and needing some curds to take home with us. This place was right on the way between Green Bay and Milwaukee and not far from the freeway. Parking was easy, and if we'd had more time and space in our bags, I'd have loved to explore the many spreads, dips, sauces, and sweets they offered. They also had a great selection of local meats and cheeses, including a variety of cheese curd flavors. I settled for the Cajun, yellow and white curds, and headed to the counter with a longing look at the ice cream stand that was busy serving up scoops despite the chilly weather out. The curds were pretty good. Not made day of kind of fresh but still really freakin good. I had to resist eating them all. It's definitely a great spot to stop for the most important of Wisconsin souvenirs.. Cheese!! read more

If you can only buy one kind of cheese, you gotta get the (regular) string cheese. I am horribly lactose intolerant but I will take a bunch of lactaid just so I can eat string cheese from this place. We buy so much whenever we visit Sheboygan to bring back as presents for friends and fam. Folks are friendly, the cheese is amazing, and get some ice cream while you're shopping around for more snacks (the eggnog flavor is particularly delicious). Anyway. (regular) string cheese is where it's at. The smoked string cheese is nice too, but I feel like it's so smoky and strong that you gotta stop at one. Whereas the regular? I can eat three in one sitting and want more . read more

As always, our visit to the cheese store was phenomenal. The cheese is fantastic, of course. They also have a large selection of local handmade items, decor, other food items etc for sale. We also got ice cream and it was delicious! Not only was it good, it was SO affordable. The people working there are so kind and helpful. We went on Thursday and will be headed back tomorrow for fresh cheese curds! read more

If you are anywhere near Fredonia, located in the upper central portion of Ozaukee County, you MUST stop here! What a gem!!!! It is part typical cheese store you'd find near the WI-IL border or near the Wisconsin Dells, and part deli/ice cream shoppe. They have ample samples of all the variety of cheeses they produce/carry as well as samples of different spreads, dips, and some meats. I tried nearly everything and it was all so good!!! In addition to the cheese and meats, they sell lots of cute knick-knacks and have a unique wine selection. The real treasure is their specialty grilled cheese sandwiches. They offer a few varieties, everything from a "grown up grilled cheese" to a "grilled cheese with 3 types of cheese, mac & cheese and Nueske's bacon. All sandwiches are served on different types of bread. I was a glutton and ordered this magnificent, cheese, cheese, and more cheese mac&cheese creation. Everything ordered is made fresh. Let me tell you, this grilled cheese was heavenly!!!!!!!!!!! Ooey, gooey, rich blends of cheese along with noodles and bacon (which I shouldn't eat but I could not pass up this opportunity). If you order a sandwich you can also choose a side - I recommend the cheese curds because they were super fresh and amazing! If you are going to indulge in one of these sandwiches, realize your diet is shot for the rest of the day lol. There is also a decent selection of ice cream flavors, some of them are very unique like peanut butter. If only I had not been so stuffed from my sandwich (and I only ate half!), I would have tried some ice cream. But my tummy said a firm NO, so I didn't push it. The sandwich was still amazing left over and has left me longing for more.... I have been dreaming of this cheese store and it's goodness for the past 2 weeks now. I must drive up to the Cedar Valley Cheese Store on my next day off just to get another grilled cheese! read more

Cheese please! I've been stopping here for a few years while passing by on work trips. Truly it's one of the highlights of getting out of the office to go on-site. There is no better string cheese in the world. It's super fresh, words cannot even describe how good it is. They have lots of other dairy product - curds, blocks of cheese, ice cream, etc. and gift-shoppy stuff too. In the back they have a small kitchen area that does up sandwiches, fried curds, etc. read more

I've been stopping here for years on my way up to and back home from Elkhart Lake. It is a cheese lovers paradise. They have tons of delicious sausages. I highly recommend the bologna, garlic summer sausage and jerky. The curds are fresh and so tasty. I recommend the Cajun curds and the garlic dill. What compelled me to write a review was the incredible deli/ice cream counter/sandwich and soup shop in the back. The young woman who checked me out early this morning was so kind. They had a Buffalo chicken soup on special and it was incredible. Truly amazing soup. They even served it to go with a sealed up bag of AMAZING CROUTONS. We also got a grilled cheese and it was everything a grilled cheese should be. Excellent melty goodness with great buttery bread made perfectly. I will never pass through again without picking something up from the cafe in back. They also have tons of local WI products and a selection of gifts (think mugs, candles, aprons, kitchen tools etc). Definitely worth a stop! read more

Best string cheese ever. Lots of variety and polite checkout employee will order online. My husband loves the salami beef sticks

This is the place to get the squeakiest cheese curds. I was introduced to Cedar Valley a few years ago- it always is a pleasant trip out in the country to get curds and string cheese. They also have a great selection of aged cheeses, jams, honey, cheese boards and souvenirs. read more

I've driven by this shop any number of times and had no idea what a gem it is! It doesn't look like much from the exterior but inside - it's a veritable cheese wonderland. Let's talk about the cheese - because that's probably why you stopped. There are 6-7 giant coolers full of every kind of cheese, from all over the state. Want some Widmers brick? Some oh-so-delicious Sarvecchio? Aged cheddar? Wonderfully stringy string cheese? It's all here for you. But there's more - sausages, jellies, pickles, gifts, and seasonal items. There's even a counter in the back where you can order a sandwich, ice cream cone or malt. What more could you want? How about fair prices and friendly service? They've got that too. Yay for cheese, yay for Wisconsin!! read more

Cedar Valley Cheese Store - Adult grilled cheese with tator tots. Reuben with tator tots. Cheddar cheese curds. Delicious!! - Cheese Shops Near Me - Belgium, Wisconsin

Where's Waldo? Waldo is not in Belgium, but the Cedar Valley Cheese Store is, and if you're trying to find Waldo by traveling north from Milwaukee, you must stop here. There's a really nice cheese store next to the cheese factory located off the Highway. They make a lot of string cheese here, nice thick rolls that are yummy to look at and sample. There's other kinds of cheese here too...some delicious artisans flavors that are beautiful. My mouth watered when I tried the Apple Cinnamon Cheddar, which I brought home and used to make a grilled cheese on cinnamon bread spread with apple butter. So Good! There's not just cheese here. There is also ice cream so you can getcha some sweet treats too. Flavors, sundaes, waffle cones, they will make em up. There's samples which have to be the best way to sell, and there's a variety - gourmet cheese, dips and spreads, hummus, even a Fiery Feta that had some heat. There's wine too! It's a fun place to visit and sample when you are out and about on an excursion. Go already! read more

Cedar Valley Cheese Store - My favorite find - apple cinnamon white cheddar - 25% off! - Cheese Shops Near Me - Belgium, Wisconsin

Excellent selection of Wisconsin cheese, snacks, souvenirs, etc. Pre-Covid they always had a lot of samples for customers to try before they buy. I am not a huge fan of the dips because they seem very mayo heavy and don't have enough flavor but I know people that do really like them. Honestly, you don't need dip if you're eating their homemade pita chips. These are a bit pricey but VERY worth it. The string cheese is another favorite. It's thick, stringy, and has the perfect salty taste. They serve Cedar Crest ice cream and some grill/ deep fried food. Obviously their cheese curds are amazing but I haven't tried any sandwiches yet. I highly recommend you check them out before your next party. Definitely take any guests from out of state, they'll need to stock up!! read more

This will be a short review because there isn't much to say other than they have tons of cheese and cheese products here! Seriously, any cheese your heart desires, you can likely find here. Plus the staff are so nice and warm, they know a lot about cheese and are happy to help and inform! read more

I continue on my crusade (assisted by my brother), a holy quest for Colby like we had when we were kids in the 60s. It was delivered by a truck that delivered Elsheimer's cold cuts from Wisconsin to the Sherman country store in rural Hardin County, IA. I have no idea where the cheese was made. It was in the large longhorn style and was firm, rubbery, sweet and slightly salty. When Mom bought a chunk we devoured it like candy. I am still hoping to find some five star Sherman class Colby. I ordered two pounds from Cedar Valley. This was the worst of the four that I ordered at this time (April 2011). The texture was all wrong, gooey and wet with no holes at all. It was a cross between the government surplus cheese we used to get in the early '60s in school and Velveeta. The flavors were fairly sour and cheddary but it would not qualify as even average mild cheddar. I understand that the rules governing the definition of Colby were changed a few years back and maybe no one makes a good product anymore. I will keep looking, but Cedar Valley is another one to remove from the list. read more

This place is deceivingly big. I thought we'd find a small store with a few options, but the place just keeps going back and back. There's a counter to order sandwiches and ice cream, but I was really just there for the cheese. And they delivered. There's a full wall of fridges chock full of cheese options. I don't know if they have it year round, since we were there in December, but there was also a large bunker where you could build your own gift basket, which was really great. Even if you aren't grabbing a full basket, there were small and inexpensive bits of all kinds of cheese, making it great for a grab and go sample area. We were on a little jaunt up to Elkhart Lake and stopped here on the way back and it was a great little top off to our day. read more

Love to go here and try their cheese samples. I always buy some to take home. They also have nice supply of jelly, preserves, pickles, etc. Then to top off a great visit the offer Cedar Crest Ice Cream. I am in heaven. I love their Almond Joy but also think the Black Cherry above par. My sister tried the Pineapple with Roasted Coconut and it is fantastic. Sadly enough they don't make that all the time so we couldn't buy any to go. :-( So if you are ever traveling down highway 57 near Belgium WI, treat yourself! read more

Right off Hwy 41 this is a must stop by if you're even within 30 minutes of here. I used to have to drive past here a couple times a month and always looked forward to driving by on a Friday since that is when the fresh cheese curds were made. You could get them while they were still warm and are the best cheese curds I've ever had. They also have string cheese that you need to pick up at least 2 packs since you will eat one pack while you're on your way home. They have around 12 fridges that are all filled with local cheeses with most being produced by them. They have all different Wisconsin local diary gifts and gift packs to send off. There is a large parking lot out front that wraps around the side. They have strange hours so I would call them first to make sure they are open before heading there. read more
