We had a party of six with both vegans and carnivores, and even the meat-eaters loved their meals! You could truly tell the chef put time, care, and passion into every plate because everything tasted incredible. I came to Wicked Willow today for the first time in a few years. My time allowance from arrival to departure was a maximum of 35 minutes. The inside of the restaurant was much the same as before, minus a row of colorful, decorative flags-- some of which had cartoon kitty faces on them. The menus were also moved to behind the counter and their former spot on the west wall displayed vegan philosophy. The service format was updated from traditional table ordering to modern counter ordering. A tantalizing array of desserts stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the cash register. A kind and pleasant restaurant employee greeted me promptly and began to refresh me on the updated menu, but there was no need for them to finish as soon as I read the word, "curry". I shared with them my decision, paid, and seated myself. It was only a few minutes before my meal arrived. The portion size was quite generous and on par with curry portions at Chef Chu's and Samoeun's. My initial impression of Wicked Willow's curry was that it looked and smelled wholesome. It looked more like a stew than a stir fry, as the liquid looked more comparable to vegetable broth than to curry sauce. It lacked the bright orange coloring and the oil deposits characteristic of many curries. The stew contained perfectly-sized chunks of broccoli, carrots, onions, red bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, and cauliflower, as well as chickpeas. A generous heap of white rice accompanied the stew. Chopped cilantro topped the dish. The word "spicy" appeared next to the word "curry" on the menu, but I found this spiciness level to be effortlessly palatable. I might not be the best person to ask, though, because I eat spicy tuna every day, but only those offended by mild taco seasoning could find this dish anything but delightful. I was impressed with the dish and with my overall experience at Wicked Willow. The curry is the perfect choice for anyone in a social situation with the expectation of ordering food and not wanting to blow their body composition goals, as it did not contain coconut milk or oil, for which some other curries are known. It's what everyone's doctor wishes they would eat, truly. My bill was $11- so, party like it's 2007, I guess! I departed with eleven minutes to spare, and I recommend Wicked Willow to all. read more

The atmosphere made me feel right at home from the quirky mushroom decor, the booth seats, and a variety of games to play for all. There were so many delicious options to choose from, but being a mac and cheese lover, I had to go with the build my own mac. I added broccoli and mushrooms, and heard about their famous corn chowder, so had to get that also. We have traveled here often to eat and have loved it! We received a $50 gift card (from a friend who also traveled an hour and a half to purchase it) for X-Mas and were excited to visit again. Upon arriving, we ordered and were prepared to pay the amount over because it exceeded the amount of the gift card. Our server wasn't quite sure how to properly enter the card into the POS system so inquired and was told that the gift card would be honored and how to enter it. As we were paying, another manager stepped in and said that the gift card would NOT be honored because of an ownership change, despite the name and all visible elements of the business being EXACTLY the same. I own a salon and have accepted gift cards from completely different businesses that have closed their doors in the past in order to attract future business. They had dedicated, loyal customers who traveled a fair distance standing in their doors and basically turned them away. The location is clean and the attendant was friendly but the food and drink were not good. We ordered from the display on the counter. The items were stale and off. It was clear that the flour used had gone bad. Unfortunately the drinks were just poorly made. They use powders, which happens, but they were very watery. The last thing I bought was a bowl of vegetarian chili with vegan cheese on top. I am fairly picky when it comes to chili, and I am extremely picky when it comes to cheese. I got the mac-n-cheese gluten free (cost an extra $1 that I was not aware of and didn't see it mentioned on the menu, though I could have overlooked it) with broccoli and mushrooms. Food can take quite awhile to come out sometimes, but that is understandable since everything is so fresh. Their mismatched dishes are sooo cute and give the restaurant a really homey feel. I've been dying to try this place for the last few months, and my fiancé and I finally got the opportunity today. It has a cute, welcoming decor that greets you. We shared the 9-Layer Nachos for an appetizer. They were beyond delicious. Then we shared the Mac and cheese and BBQ sandwich. Both were incredible. I really, really wanted to love this place. But there were too many issues to give it any more than three stars. I hope anything I might have to say is helpful to the owners, though trust me, I don't give my words too much weight :-). There are some things this place needs to work on, so I guess I'll give the bad news first. Our food took a very long time to come out and the place was not busy. We were a party of six. The brussel sprouts are a starter, and they came out last - way after our meal. Even so, the brussel sprouts were very underdone. (I did like the note of horseradish in the cream sauce.) Service is not very attentive, though not unfriendly. We asked our server an opinion on which entrée we should order. She really touted the "Grandma's Pasta Bake" on the specials menu. She described it to us. She said that it is cooked spaghetti, which is then combined with plant-based cheeses, put back into the oven and baked - she used words like "warm and melty" to describe how it came out of the oven. When the pasta came out, the cook delivered it - and he described it as spaghetti. We said, oh! We ordered the pasta BAKE." He stared at us, then turned and stared at the menu. He said he had no explanation as to why the servers described it that way, but that this had always been the recipe. It was not oven-baked. It was just spaghetti. Our server never mentioned it again, nor made any attempt to apologize or correct the situation. I'm not sure why she misrepresented it. The butternut squash soup desperately needed salt, and the gnocchi that she had highly recommended was actually a plate of dense noodle dumplings. They would have been good, perhaps, in a (vegan) chicken and dumplings dish, but they were not gnocchi - which should be feather light, and melt in your mouth. The very lowest point of the meal was the "Black Bean Brownie." I have a friend who is not vegan, and she had a lot of trepidation about trying a dessert with beans in it. I explained to her that beans make the dessert moist and fudgy. Not here. The brownie is a thin sheet of something very waxy. It has a lot of coconut oil and a strong coconut flavor, but the texture was definitely off-putting. I told her not to judge black bean brownies on this experience. :( Paying the restaurant some compliments, I have to say that the decor is absolutely amazing. All of the furniture, fixings, and dishware has been handpicked and is immaculately clean. It is a very pleasant place to eat in. I also have to say that I did enjoy the pasta sauce, even though it wasn't what we ordered. The corn chowder was good. I also liked the cream sauce on the brussel sprouts, as I mentioned, and the thing I enjoyed the most was the carrot cake. While it did not contain many carrots, it was a delicious cake that melted in your mouth. The peanut butter pie was okay, with a filling that was tasty, but a standard, store-bought crust. We didn't have anything here that would send me running back. I think if your service is not the best, then the food should be amazing. I hate, hate, hate to give anything but a great review to a plant-based restaurant, since there are not that many and I am vegan myself. However, the business is becoming more competitive, and there are a few things on the menu here that need to be removed (the brownie) or reworked. With a little more precision in food and service, this place could go up a couple of stars. read more

This is absolutely a restaurant you have to try! I'm from Boulder, CO where everything is vegan and organic, and Wicked Willow gives the places there a run for their money. I had the tacos with the ground "beef" and was blown away by the sweetness, the fresh tortillas, the handcut vegetables, and the perfectly ripe avocados. I also tried the corn chowder, which was awesome! For desert we had a cinnamon roll which was average. Not enough frosting and not very chewy or enticing appearance. Traveling to Stevens Point was definitely worth it. The portions were larger than I expected. The food was soooo delicious. They have cinnamon rolls! I ordered the pad thai with tempeh.
