Waupaca,WI. I have been walking by Sulten Belly for at least a year, not aware of the good things going on in there. There is some special food to be had in this part of Wisconsin, I am a huge fan of the Green Fountain Inn and the Secret Garden just a few blocks away, and now Sulten Belly. We were greeted as we entered and given some clarity of the process so there was no confusion. I liked that we found a seat and took our time with the menu before I went to the ordering station, ordered, paid, and received a number for the table. I'm not exactly pleased with the modern method of tipping before you even see the food, but I paid cash so I could add more to the tip jar if deserved. Oh yeah, if you pay by card they tack on 4%. Bring your cash, they discourage cards. Where I live (Laguna Beach, CA) , some restaurants are the other way. They are not accepting cash and only take alternate card or digital payments. I ordered Mr. Beefy, a delicious smoked beef tenderloin panini sandwich with melted provolone cheese that really hit the spot. The beef tasted like it had been braised in wine, just wonderful for $16.50. Also excellent was the Sulten Belly Favorite Salad that was with assorted fresh greens and bacon, $13.50. The staff here were all friendly and helpful. It was a nice cozy vibe without the bright lights. I will be back. They also have premade frozen dishes available that look pretty good. read more

How does one define "best"? Would I need to try every single eatery in a geographic area to base my assumptions on? While I can't confidently say this is the best joint in Wisconsin, it certainly has to be up there insofar as central Wisconsin establishments. The lasagna, being so meaty, hearty and flavorful you'd swear it came from an authentic Italian hole-in-the-wall. The pulled pork (drenched in their bbq sauce) just shines as bright as any respectful bbq place. The barbecue pastrami sandwich (go figure), was pretty insane, too. No, I haven't been to every supper club or obscure restaurant in Central Wisconsin. But having frequented "up north Wisconsin" (family owns a lake house up there) since I was 5 years old, not once could I remember a place that I felt had better food. Whenever I make the trek up from Illinois, I always stop in, as well as grab one of their frozen lasagnas or bbq chili bowls to go. That's saying something. read more

Stopped at SB back in May for lunch. My 3rd or 4th time visiting and it is delightful every time. I love that they have a rotating menu in addition to their menu staples. As a vegetarian, I'm always grateful to see options that are anything but boring or lacking. The pear salad definitely delivers tons of flavor and filling ingredients, and the Mac & cheese is so comforting. It was my partners first time and he really enjoyed his sandwich too. It might be on the higher end for casual lunch pricing in Waupaca, but it is worth every penny! read more

So charming! We were greeted by friendly staff (possibly owner?). LOVE the menu. Ordered walleye sandwich and a grilled cheese w arugula and tomato. Served with lovely roasted mini carrots. Both sandwiches were outstanding, excellent bread. Serving size is large. To top it off restaurant also serves wine by glass. Would definitely return. read more

The food here is so fresh and tasty! We ate here for the first time in August, while on vacation with our family. It's a cozy place with the cooking area visible, which was pretty cool. Everyone was really friendly. I love that you can tip the cooks (in beer). My husband had the WISCO - it was AMAZING!! I had the mac n cheese with a side of marinated mushrooms - equally amazing!! My son had the mac n cheese with pork belly - ditto. We will be back regularly, it's a fantastic place!! read more

My husband I stopped around 11:00 on a Saturday. My husband had the Wisco sandwich and I had the Cajun Gobbler, both sandwiches were served with chips and I chose to add the bacon cheese dip, which I highly recommend; we give both our meals a 5. Service was fantastic, we were greeting and served with a smile 5. The restaurant is decorated super nice and the cleanliness is impeccable 5!!! Thank you to all the staff! read more

You had me at Arugula!!!!! Finally a place that I can get fresh food from that is not an hour drive away. Had the Cajun turkey salad and I should have bought another to take home. So fresh I'm shocked to find food this good in Waupaca. read more

Great food! We had the WISCO BELT and it was the best breakfast we ever had!! Provolone, pork belly and fried egg with roasted garlic mayo. Wow!! The service was fantastic but I must say that the prices were a bit exorbitant as two iced coffees one sandwich (that we split) and one large cookie for a total of $25?? The ambiance and rustic interiors of the place as well as the gourmet breakfast sandwich made up for the high prices; but I am not sure if I'd return. But you can tell that the staff take pride in creating beautifully well put together food. If you're looking for budget breakfast or lunch go over to Gretchens down the street but if you're looking for gourmet food items then give this place a try!! read more

I was driving between Chicago and the Upper Peninsula and needed to stop for food. I checked YELP and Sulten Belly looked pretty interesting. (On trips I try and avoid chains and love the small business entrepreneur restaurant owner) What a nice surprise. I had the Cajun Gobbler but could have tried 3-4 other menu items. Plus the sandwich came with chips and a house made chip dip that was amazing. I would love this place in the Chicago suburbs. I would visit weekly. The server was so nice too. Lovely style of the place but was a bit loud. They do have outside seating that is lovely so we opted for that. You can seat yourself, and when you're ready, order at the counter. You must pay yourself with an iPad system. So you pay before you get your food. They did provide a glass water bottle for us to share so that is lovely. The server was good and the other guy who checked on us was pleasant as well. The food was wonderfull and got more than expected. Plenty to satisfy and take to work for lunch. read more

First time trying this place and it was incredible. We're from Chicago and said this food would easily stand up to/ surpass the city standards. We ordered a little bit of everything: pear salad, BELT sandwich, the walleye sandwich, and a side of the Mac and cheese with pork belly. The service was outstanding too. Wonderful, kind people. I stopped for lunch and they exceed my expectations. Great laid back clean fresh atmosphere and decor. I ordered the Me So Beefy sandwich. It was a shredded beef sandwich with an Asian twist. It was excellent. Bun was perfectly toasted and warm. Key part of a great sandwich. The beef was hot and the slaw was crispy. There was at least 6 or 7 other items on the menu I would love to try. We stopped here for lunch as we traveled from Milwaukee to Rhinelander. What a treat! Enjoyed the high quality food and friendly service so much we made a point of stopping on our way back a week later. "The Walter" is to die for - fried Canadian walleye perfectly done. Everything we had was exceptional. Imagine traditional American food, prepared with the care and thoughtfulness of gourmet cuisine. Every component of each entree seems to receive special attention.
