My family moved into this area about two years ago finding new places to eat is always a challenge…read morebecause living in the city theres alot of places you can choose while living in the country its still a great deal of choices just farther drives. We try all kinds of places and like alot of them including smiths. I had a cajon platter for there special of the day and while i lived in Mississippi for 9 months and learned alot about the culture and food down there there not alot of places that make that food right. Smiths did a great job the food was cooked perfect and tasted great. If they topped it off with a side of banana pudding they would have hit all I looked for. We have come to smiths for the views of animals they have hunted over the years to the services done by their staff. This place has stories that everyone is willing to tell you. If you want to unwind and listen to the locals talk this is your place to just sit back and listen to the wonders of Manawa has to offer. Check them out you will be intrigued by what people say

Manawa, Wi. I never got to taste the food. This is how the…read moredining experience for my wife and I proceeded and finished. Upon walking in I was pleased to notice that the large dining room was nearly empty. This was a good sign because I was really hungry and I wanted a steak. What better place to get a steak than a steakhouse, right? A sign at the dining room kiosk directed us to sign in at the bar. Standing at the bar for five to ten minutes revealed that I am invisible to the bartender so we sat down, and I hollered at her as she passed by. She politely "Signed us up" for the dining room. After 15 minutes passed us by sitting at the bar full of locals, including children, I ordered a beer. I requested an IPA, and she managed to "Find One". It wasn't even a Wisconsin beer, which I found surprising, this state boasts a huge variety of amazing brews. We continued sitting at the bar, my wife doesn't drink and nothing was offered as an alternative. We started engaging in conversation with a man seated next to us who pretty much summed up the story of his life and he was 82 years old. At the 40 minute mark I asked the bartender if we had been forgotten. "No", she replied, "You're on the list". At the one hour mark a lady came out to us with a tablet and a pencil and asked us "What do you want"? I said I wanted a steak. "Oh, we're out, how about something else"? "Ok, I'll have a whole rack of ribs"! "Sorry we're out of that too". At that point and hour and ten minutes had past since our entry to this place so I paid for the beer (Why oh why did I give her a 50 cent tip?), and walked out. I proceeded to walk across the street to the Subway where I gorged on a foot long steak sandwich which was prepared in 5 minutes and was delicious, Here is what we could have done differently and may help you if you decide to come here: 1.Order take out. The whole time we were sitting there take out orders were being picked up. 2. Eat at the bar. Nearly everyone sitting at the bar, including the children were eating dinner. This option was never offered to us. I have a house down the street a ways and was hoping for a good meal, I've had some good dinners here in years past. I probably will never know if the latest version of The Manawa Steakhouse has good food because I will never be returning to try.

We had a pleasant dining experience with good food and good drinks in a classic Wisconsin supper club environment. There was only one gentleman working it seemed (other than whoever was in the kitchen), and he served both a few patrons at the bar as well as waited on our table. We were the only party in the restaurant at the time, but I still found this impressive. The menu was standard supper club fare. Everyone in our group ordered the prime rib (except me), which came with a solid soup and salad bar. We shared an appetizer sampler that included some good mozzarella sticks and jalapeno poppers. I opted for the walleye sandwich. Although plain in presentation, it was delicious and a large portion. I went with the house-made fries which were thin and crispy instead of the frozen crinkle cut (someone in our group who tried both said they preferred the house-made). My significant other chose the hash browns with his prime rib - we both agreed these were delicious. I tried a few bites of the prime rib as well, and I thought it was good. All-in-all, we had a good experience at The Rivers. The service was great, the atmosphere was traditional, and the food was good. The food was a little on the pricey side ($20/plate), but the portions were definitely large. The drinks were inexpensive; they had an old fashioned special going that night of $3.50/drink. I don't normally order cocktails but being in a supper club it seemed like the thing to do, so I went with a brandy old fashioned sweet with olives. I was pretty satisfied with it! I would recommend checking it out for dinner and drinks.
