After finally finding the venue in the blizzard (Deco hotel building- to the looking glass cigar and spirits; entrance on Harney across from the Orpheum for those who seek it), I answered the secret password and pulled the lever to pass through the "looking glass" and "down the rabbit hole" into the Wicked Rabbit via a secret door. We settled into the cozy and swanky lounge for craft cocktails including homemade mixers and clever twists on well loved favorites. This is not the place to take Smirnoff shots, grab a miller lite, or order a rum and coke- they just dont have these things here. Expect $13 craft drinks with a lot of personality, creativity, and love shaken within. My favorites on the menu thus far are the ramos gin fizz, bee's knees, and blood and sand. Max capacity of this place has got to be 30 people or so, and Friday and Saturday are the busiest days. If they are full, they will not be able to let you in and you'll stand in the crowded small space of the looking glass cigar and spirits (which does sell booze btw just as normal shop would) waiting to enter. Once I waited 30 mins for a party of two to sit at the bar at 9pm on a Friday for reference. Staff was helpful and friendly, and if you like Omaha's Berry and Rye, or House of Loom, you'll like this place! Ben is an awesome bartender and never fails as a mixology expert or chatty addition to your evening. We checked this place out for an event a couple months back and were super impressed by the way it transports you into a whole new dimension literally as if you've fallen down the rabbit hole with Alice. It definitely has a really awesome vibe that drastically contrasts from the front shop you enter from. This was my first experience at a speak easy, and a pretty sweet one at that. If you say the word upon entering a seemingly normal shop downtown you are directed towards a libation that would surely give the Mad Hatter a mischievous grin. Pulling the lever opens the wall to the lounge where you are greeted by the bar and waitstaff decorated in black slightly gothic attire and makeup. Goth? Idk.. Maybe vamp? Cool nonetheless. The atmosphere is ridiculously mystical with rich purple curtains, luscious gold fixtures all against black walls and backgrounds. The lighting is low and elusive and there are little intricate touches everywhere (don't miss the bathrooms). The drinks are truly an artistic craft. No drink leaves the bar without some form of adornment. Whether it be a delicate edible flower, a citrus twist composition, or aflame, the drinks were downright the prettiest I have ever seen. I spoke to one of the gents mixing drinks and he was very well informed on gluten and alcohol safety for individuals with Celiac, so that was a sweet plus. My only non praising comment was that despite how gorgeous the drinks were, I didn't really love any that I had and neither did the fiancé. They are pretty pricey beverages as well. However, the experience was bomb and I'd love to try it again to see if it was just what I ordered or if the bartender was a bit overwhelmed that night. Either way, don't miss this place. read more

It was 1 am on a Sunday morning and I talked them into walking down from Old Market. They were skeptical. We wandered into the Looking Glass and I wasn't actually sure what to do next. I'd seen pictures and at one point it seems there was a secret code. There really isn't, at least any more, you just have to mention the name. But, at least two of my buddies skepticism continued to grow as I looked around. Finally, we figured it out and a new world opened up to us. The skepticism of the group soon turned to wonder. It is a really cool place. One of my friends said it was the best thing we did all weekend. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks. The menu is a bit overwhelming for someone like me who just doesn't drink much outside of beer (there was an "incident" years ago, best not to ask). But, we found something to our liking and really enjoyed the drinks. The service was good, though I think they were starting to clean up a bit for closing. It wasn't busy this particular evening. Yes, the drinks are a bit pricey but you are paying for a truly unique experience. This secret bar is on par (maybe exceeds) two of my all time favorite speakeasies in NYC. The entry is as cool as the PDT (Please Do not Tell) Bar. The service and drink crafting is fantastic. I thought the drink menu was very fitting being broken into both pre prohibition and post prohibition drinks. So many great drinks made this place a post dinner destination twice. Was in town for a work function and was just looking for a chill place to go and have a couple cocktails. And WOW! The Wicked Rabbit delivered! From the hidden doorway to the high quality cocktails I really enjoyed it all. At $13 a cocktail I was not upset because there were made with so much care. I got the Boston Sour and Vieux Carre. The Boston sour was my first time having a drink with an egg white in it and the body it added to the drink was satisfying. It does not taste like egg at all and is a greet drink for anyone who enjoys a whiskey sour elsewhere. The Vieux Carre was a recommendation made after talking with the bartender for a little bit. I usually go for Old Fashions...but I have all the ingredients at home and did not need them to make me a drink I always make for myself. The Vieux Carre was just slightly bitter and aromatic. Was a great drink to sit and sip while taking in the atmosphere! Would highly recommend to anyone since it is such a unique place. I imagine this place would be a bigger hit if it were located elsewhere because I know speakeasies are all the rage right now however even for a smaller city this place was extremely popular. We had to wait around 30 minutes to get in and all the time people just kept pouring in until there was no more place to stand. Once inside I knew why there was a long wait - this place is actually small. They have done their best to accommodate as many as people as they can at a time but this gives a kind of cramped vibe. The seating is too close together and slightly uncomfortable. The dark paneled curtains and the dim lighting give a lounge vibe but that gets lost once you actually sit down since you are practically just right next to another party and sitting upright all the time. The drinks were pretty good , I did not like mine particularly but the rest of the people enjoyed theirs. I had the white lady which was very tart and my server did caution me , so that's probably my mistake. The old fashioned and the zombie were good drinks and the fire touch was very interesting. Be careful on what you order- I asked the bartender to make an Old Fashioned with a smoke flavor. Apparently $13 a drink was not already over priced enough. So without telling me, she overpoured by 1 oz. Three drinks later I get a bill charging me for 6 drinks- when I told her I only had 3, she said "yep but I poured an extra oz in each one so I charged you for 6 drinks." Do the math, it comes out to $25/drink. Yep, you read that right, she charged me an extra $12 per drink because she added an extra oz, without my request and without even telling me it would cost that much. Misleading, dishonest, stealing, that service is flat out wrong.... so if you are looking to be misled and overcharged this is the place to go. Then to add insult to injury, the owner won't make it right and has refused to actually talk to me on the phone in my efforts to get this matter resolved. They did do one thing though, broke my record for most expensive cocktail in my life- $25 in Omaha Nebraska none the less! read more

The Wicked Rabbit is a hidden speak easy with amazing craft cocktails. I've been a few times now and you do typically have to wait. We waited for 45 minutes for our group of 5 people. The atmosphere, service, and drinks are amazing. It's great for special events or just a couple going out but do plan accordingly. They don't take reservations and you almost always will have to wait. You also have to find it because it's kind of hidden. My wife and I stoped here because we wanted to go to a trendy low key bar. I ran across Wicked Rabbit and we decided to check this out. So glad we did. The bar was a little difficult to locate, part of the experience and when we did we walked into a very small bottle shop featuring all kinds of liquor. It looked like a bottle shop and they do sell the bottles if you didn't know to ask for the speakeasy that is hidden behind a cabinet doorway. Once we made it into the speakeasy we were impressed. Very sheik and classy. The cocktails are every good. You pay for very good as they were $13 per drink but everything is fresh and the atmosphere was great. It's dimly lit, low key, classy, unpretentious, with a hint of swanky. They have a full cocktail menu and a wide selection of spirits. We tried the Ramos gin fizz, clovee gin, and a daiquiri. All of the drinks were well balanced. The citrus was complementary and did not overpower any of the cocktails. I love Ramos gin fizzes, it's like a grown up orange cream soda. Our waitress was good. When I was planning a trip to Omaha, I looked on Yelp and bookmarked a few locations near the Old Market that looked interesting. Based on the photos and 4.5 rating, I added The Wicked Rabbit thinking it was a normal high end cocktail bar. As we were leaving another bar, I asked the doorman where the WR was he had never heard of it - odd. I looked up the address and wandered 2 blocks and came upon the block where it was supposed to be. Nothing that looked like a bar was on either side of the street, I asked several people that were exiting the concert hall and no-one seemed to know what I was talking about - it truly seemed that we had went down the rabbit hole. I refused to give up and finally - a block up, a sweet lady said that we should ask inside the tobacco shop down the way. We wandered down the street and entered The Looking Glass cigar shop and told the lonely lady behind the sales counter that we were searching for the WR. She said nothing but nodded politely as she came from behind the counter, pushed on the wall and WHAM - there is a dark nightclub with flickering candles awaiting thru the archway. Holy crap - a hidden 'speakeasy". If I had known the drill prior, I'm sure I wouldn't have been so dumbfounded, but at that moment - another mysterious world had literally just appeared before our eyes. Inside it was very dark with a bar and a small room with couches and low ottoman type seating. The music was hypnotic, the crowd was young and professional and our server was pleasant and charming. I insisted that my buddy try the absinthe, the perfect setting for his first experience and I had a wonderfully muddled and potent Whiskey Old Fashioned. The server stayed the entire time kneeling at our low table walking us thru the10 minute Absinthe "ceremony". Upon leaving you must leave thru a side door into the parking lot. We were there last night and when we asked how long the wait would be for a table for 5, the door man said that he was unable to give me a time because he can't see the future and has no way of knowing how long people will take at their tables. He didn't tell us how many people were waiting ahead or anything. Pretentious prick. The drinks were no better than anywhere else in Omaha, the bar is small and dark, and the pricetag is outrageous. This place was great. We sat at the bar and felt well taken care of. Just tell the guy in the front that you'd like to have a drink in the back when you get inside. If there's room, he will open a hidden door to the speakeasy. It's dark, well decorated, sort of low, darker music which is modern but fits well with the ambiance. Menu is divided into pre-prohibition, prohibition era and post prohibition era cocktails. We tried 5 cocktails over the course of two hours and they were all great. Be patient, sometimes you have to wait for another drink but they take their time here with the craft cocktails and it's worth it. I definitely recommend what the bartender called the "choose your own adventure" cocktail.
