We checked this place out for an event a couple months back and were super impressed by the way it transports you into a whole new dimension literally as if you've fallen down the rabbit hole with Alice. It definitely has a really awesome vibe that drastically contrasts from the front shop you enter from. This was my first experience at a speak easy, and a pretty sweet one at that. If you say the word upon entering a seemingly normal shop downtown you are directed towards a libation that would surely give the Mad Hatter a mischievous grin. Pulling the lever opens the wall to the lounge where you are greeted by the bar and waitstaff decorated in black slightly gothic attire and makeup. Goth? Idk.. Maybe vamp? Cool nonetheless. The atmosphere is ridiculously mystical with rich purple curtains, luscious gold fixtures all against black walls and backgrounds. The lighting is low and elusive and there are little intricate touches everywhere (don't miss the bathrooms). The drinks are truly an artistic craft. No drink leaves the bar without some form of adornment. Whether it be a delicate edible flower, a citrus twist composition, or aflame, the drinks were downright the prettiest I have ever seen. I spoke to one of the gents mixing drinks and he was very well informed on gluten and alcohol safety for individuals with Celiac, so that was a sweet plus. My only non praising comment was that despite how gorgeous the drinks were, I didn't really love any that I had and neither did the fiancé. They are pretty pricey beverages as well. However, the experience was bomb and I'd love to try it again to see if it was just what I ordered or if the bartender was a bit overwhelmed that night. Either way, don't miss this place. read more

Arrived at 5:07pm (they opened at 5pm). People were hanging out in Looking Glass, and at one point 14 of its were hanging out waiting to be permitted to enter Wicked Rabbit. I understand that sometimes you have to wait for special things like speakeasies. I also understand that sometimes things take time. But what I don't understand is why the door man gave no information about the fact that we were going to end up standing around for potentially 25 minutes, waiting to go in, and saying nothing to anyone about the entire situation. He did have all of the Hipster vibe that is necessary for a speak easy doorman, but he had none of the crouth or decency. Then, once we finally got in about 25 minutes after arriving, the music was entirely too Taylor Swifty and too freaking loud for a place with this kind of amazing energy and vibe. The drinks were good, the drinks are always good. But you expect good drinks in a place like this. The other intangibles that you're looking for were clearly not present on this visit, and it was disappointing after so many very good visits to have my entire family here and have them experience something less than phenomenal. When you set the bar High, people expect you to meet a high standard. If you don't set a high bar, then you can be sloppy just like this was. But they're not sloppy usually. Gahhh I love everything about Wicked Rabbit. I happen to be a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, speakeasies... and booze. Lewis Carroll himself would have approved of entering Wicked Rabbit "through The Looking Glass". Once through, you enter a dark and intimate space of ornate decor, velvet curtains, dark purple accents, and subtle Wonderland-esque references. There are refined details from the decor to the drink garnishes to the server's mustache. As for drinks, I tried a few, like the Clover Club and Negroni. Each cocktail was served in pretty crystal glasses with fresh and fun garnishes. The taste was just as lovely as the presentation. One thing you'll want to know before coming here is the Wicked Rabbit is more of an experience than it is a bar. Personally speaking, there are some crucial things that doesn't make this a perfect bar. That said, this is definitely a place to try at least once. If you're a fan of Alice in Wonderland, this is a modern bar version of it. Love the entrance since it begins as a speakeasy. Looks like a traditional liquor store, but beyond the shelving is another realm of alcohol! It's truly as if you fell into the world of Wonderland... if Wonderland consisted of booze. That's just fine with me honestly. So many things to see and so many photo opportunities. So yes, this is an Instagram-zone. When you have even amusing menus, you're doing something right. Be ready for a wait on the weekend though, this should be fairly obvious. Drinks: So while I am enamored by the visuals of the bar, I am also stunned by the presentation of the drinks. They truly make cocktails into art and place a decent amount of alcohol. Their use of eggwhite into their drinks sound odd, but it's really done for visual impact. They certainly succeed by being able to have images in the froth. They even have pyro drinks! That's always fun! Now, while the drinks are fun and are certainly Insta-candy, in regards to taste, they are just ok. Go into this with the idea that the drinks are made explicitly for your entertainment. Consumption comes secondary I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong, they aren't the worst drinks ever made, but you can totally tell the drinks are made more for visual impact. I don't regret my purchases, but I was a little disappointed in the overall taste. Staff: The bartenders are amazing and work damn hard! No joke, I tipped my bartender and another one that was running literally everywhere! It's a packed house, so this one bartender was hustling to make sure the guests had a pleasant experience. Kudos to that amazing lady! They will make suggestions if you feel overwhelmed by the expansive menu. That's great, but I think it's better to do a little drink-watching and ask what a drink is. Trust me, you won't regret it! Price: This probably shouldn't come as a surprise, but this place is a little pricey. You're truly paying for an experience. That said, I've had way more expensive drinks, especially in Las Vegas. Drinks average $13-18. If you're pinching pennies, this isn't the place for you. Overall: I think a four-star rating is justified. With a beautiful bar, amazing-looking drinks and a kickass staff, this is worth visiting at least once. It was 1 am on a Sunday morning and I talked them into walking down from Old Market. They were skeptical. We wandered into the Looking Glass and I wasn't actually sure what to do next. I'd seen pictures and at one point it seems there was a secret code. There really isn't, at least any more, you just have to mention the name. But, at least two of my buddies skepticism continued to grow as I looked around. Finally, we figured it out and a new world opened up to us. The skepticism of the group soon turned to wonder. It is a really cool place. One of my friends said it was the best thing we did all weekend. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks. The menu is a bit overwhelming for someone like me who just doesn't drink much outside of beer (there was an "incident" years ago, best not to ask). But, we found something to our liking and really enjoyed the drinks. The service was good, though I think they were starting to clean up a bit for closing. It wasn't busy this particular evening. Yes, the drinks are a bit pricey but you are paying for a truly unique experience. From the hidden doorway to the high quality cocktails I really enjoyed it all. At $13 a cocktail I was not upset because there were made with so much care. I got the Boston Sour and Vieux Carre. The Boston sour was my first time having a drink with an egg white in it and the body it added to the drink was satisfying. It does not taste like egg at all and is a greet drink for anyone who enjoys a whiskey sour elsewhere. The Vieux Carre was a recommendation made after talking with the bartender for a little bit. I usually go for Old Fashions...but I have all the ingredients at home and did not need them to make me a drink I always make for myself. The Vieux Carre was just slightly bitter and aromatic. Was a great drink to sit and sip while taking in the atmosphere! Would highly recommend to anyone since it is such a unique place. I imagine this place would be a bigger hit if it were located elsewhere because I know speakeasies are all the rage right now however even for a smaller city this place was extremely popular. We had to wait around 30 minutes to get in and all the time people just kept pouring in until there was no more place to stand. Once inside I knew why there was a long wait - this place is actually small. They have done their best to accommodate as many as people as they can at a time but this gives a kind of cramped vibe. The seating is too close together and slightly uncomfortable. The dark paneled curtains and the dim lighting give a lounge vibe but that gets lost once you actually sit down since you are practically just right next to another party and sitting upright all the time. The drinks were pretty good , I did not like mine particularly but the rest of the people enjoyed theirs. I had the white lady which was very tart and my server did caution me , so that's probably my mistake. The old fashioned and the zombie were good drinks and the fire touch was very interesting. The Smokey aroma lasts a long time and gives the drinks an interesting twist. Their menu is elaborate and stands out for their special craft cocktails. read more

Be careful on what you order- I asked the bartender to make an Old Fashioned with a smoke flavor. Apparently $13 a drink was not already over priced enough. So without telling me, she overpoured by 1 oz. Three drinks later I get a bill charging me for 6 drinks- when I told her I only had 3, she said "yep but I poured an extra oz in each one so I charged you for 6 drinks." Do the math, it comes out to $25/drink. Yep, you read that right, she charged me an extra $12 per drink because she added an extra oz, without my request and without even telling me it would cost that much. Misleading, dishonest, stealing, that service is flat out wrong.... so if you are looking to be misled and overcharged this is the place to go. Then to add insult to injury, the owner won't make it right and has refused to actually talk to me on the phone in my efforts to get this matter resolved. The atmosphere, service, and drinks are amazing. It's great for special events or just a couple going out but do plan accordingly. They don't take reservations and you almost always will have to wait. You also have to find it because it's kind of hidden. My wife and I stoped here because we wanted to go to a trendy low key bar. I ran across Wicked Rabbit and we decided to check this out. So glad we did. The bar was a little difficult to locate, part of the experience and when we did we walked into a very small bottle shop featuring all kinds of liquor. It looked like a bottle shop and they do sell the bottles if you didn't know to ask for the speakeasy that is hidden behind a cabinet doorway. Once we made it into the speakeasy we were impressed. Very sheik and classy. The cocktails are every good. You pay for very good as they were $13 per drink but everything is fresh and the atmosphere was great.
