I strongly suggest that asian friends: DO NOT GO TO THIS WHOLEY and PARK IN THEIR PARKING LOT. The guy guarding the parking lot seems to be a racist for sure and this is clearly not a friendly environment. For your information, my mom and I decided to park in wholey's special parking lot and went to wholey for some chicken and corns yesterday. After we finished buying stuff from wholey(we ONLY went to wholey) and loading our bags to our car, the guy came to our car and forced us to leave. He claimed that we were making a mess in HIS parking lot right after we put our stuffs down and sat in our seats(which I do not understand how we were making a mess). He did not give us time to even buckle up and yelled at us because in his words, we were not allowed to stay. Well, we did not have the intention to stay in HIS parking lot for sure and we were ready to leave at that moment because of how mean he was. Thirty seconds later, he came back and told us that he put us on a ban list and said we could NEVER EVER park in HIS parking lot(the special wholey ones) if we ever come to wholey. Even more ridiculously, he threatened us that he was going to call the police because we were not leaving. The reason why I say this guy is a racist is because he did not treat other people(non-asians) in the parking lot the same way he did to us. In fact, I don't think he dared to force other non-asians people to leave. How pathetic is that? He disrespected me and my mom by calling us 'NASTY' and insulted us in public when we were leaving. I think he should know that not all asians will go to shop in lotus market so he should not be mad at us and he did not have the right to disrespect us and force us to leave since we are customers of wholey. Besides racism, I could not think of any reasons for him to treat us like that. I understand that people will have bad days in their lives, but this is your job and I am your customers so there is no way that he is able to yell and even ban us from HIS parking lot. We did not insist arguing with him because civilized conversations do not exist in his world and all he knows is about how to be a racist. All I can say is that we are very disappointed by this situation and even though wholey has always been my family's favorite market, we decide that we will stop purchasing anything from wholey because of this clearly discrimination towards us asian people. Shame on you for having such awful employees. 0/100 read more

There is clearly racist profiling happening at the Wholey's parking lot. Apparently, (they feel) they have an issue with people who park there only to shop at the Chinese Supermarket close by. So if you happen to look Asian, you will be routinely harassed by the staff, even if you are a frequent Wholey's customer. Our family just decided to take our business elsewhere from now on, after we were berated not just by the parking attendant, but the manager and a security guard as well. What happened? While I was buying $100+ worth of Wholey's goods as I do every week, my husband went to pick up some small items at the Chinese store next door - something that did not extend our use of the parking spot one bit. As I was pushing the full Wholey's shopping cart toward the car to unload, I was confronted by the overzealous parking attendant. My argument that I had clearly been shopping at Wholey's as required and that it makes no difference where other members of my family were at the time fell on deaf ears. I complained to the store manager who did not recognize the absurdity of the debate either, and sided with the parking guard. I made it a point to return my merchandise at the spot and vowed to never set foot into that store again. Something tells me that the folks at Wholey's silently congratulated themselves for getting rid of another one of those obnoxious non-white customers. read more

Was going to buy a lot of meat and seafood when the staff started arguing about whether my mask was covering my nose "enough". My mask was covering my nostrils... not that it is a law... when an incompetent police officer who was wearing his mask below his nose yelled at me to leave as I was trying to buy my items. The manager was to scared to tell the police officer to stop since we had come to an agreement to buy my things. I told the police officer to arrest me if I was breaking the law (I wasn't) and then the officer said "they don't need your business" (I guarantee you as a businessman. They want ALL business" again the shop owner wouldn't speak up to the bully police man. I am a Veteran, an Infantry Officer and have been in situations much worse than this, and that is the only thing that spared the policeman from being disarmed and embarrassed as he drove business away from Wholey's. I do not recommend. Also COOL labeling was suspect. I will probably file a serious health department complaint as I am also a certified (FDA food safety manager) have a great time in Pittsburgh and don't get sick eating here... not from COVID but from out of cold holding temperature seafood... I also suspect the police officer was illegally moonlighting in uniform and will file a complaint to the city to that effect read more

This place has the worst customer service. The owner needs to daily train their staffs included the managers on the two rules which are posted in front of the entrance. I went into the Robert Wholey store to shop around 9:10am as of Tuesday, July 11th, 2017. I checked out at about 9:30am with $77.82 worth of grocery and fish. I went to my car which is parked in Wholey parking lot to drop all the stuff I bought from Wholey. I realized i needed to get a few Chinese grocery from Lotus. I immediately walked out of the parking lot. The lot attendant is so rude. He asked me to remove my car out of Wholey parking lot. He said he does not work for Lotus grocery and does not care about my just checked out receipt at Wholey's.Please note that the parking lot is almost empty at 9:40 on a Tuesday morning. I am a business owner, and I spend $300-400 a month at this ROBERT WHOLEY in the strip district. I shop there three times a month. Now that I will never return. My $300-400 is less worthier than their fucking free parking lot. read more

I ordered a big load from Amazon , of the only Chesapeake frozen oysters on the net! They should have arrived overnight with dry ice because I live in AZ and it's 119. They came second day air and some of the first layer were soggy and got tossed. I did call and complain and I might have left a sour review, this was a $100 order. Today? I received a few cans of succulent fresh Atlantic oysters ! Packed in Ice! And ice cold! Plus a sincere apology from Wholeys and request that I don't give up on them in the future. WOW! Our family will enjoy the big Maine style lobster cookout in September, coming from our seafood connection WHOLEYS! read more

The food is tasty, rich, and insanely affordable. I loved everything, but the calamari and hush puppies were particularly great. The cod was beer-battered, soft, and flaky. The crab cakes had big hunks of crab. I also tried the white chocolate pecan fudge which was awesome. I was disappointed to see that most of their seafood is frozen, but we are in Pittsburgh here. Can not wait to try the mac and cheese! Their grilled lunches are half away ($3) after thr lunch rush hour! read more

This area is among the coolest places ever. Where I come from all we've is Walmart Super centers and other chain grocery stores. This area feels like it's. A supermarket fish market Meat packing place. The seafood selection is excellent here as well as the chicken steak and pork. The greatest reason to go here while in your journey on the strip is for a Whaler sandwich. Folks that you don't want chips with this fresh huge fish sandwich. read more

What a wonderful dinner. Everything was delicious-from the calamari and soft shell crab special appetizers-to the cod cake and salads-to our main courses of falafel crusted salmon and sea bass- to the desserts of rhubarb pie and mango tart. Only negatives were there was too much food, only one bathroom each for men and women, and it was rather loud in the restaurant. Service was excellent! Enjoy!! read more

Love Wholey's! Everything is so fresh and clean, I love shopping here. Not only is the food affordable, all of the employees ask if you need help. This is nice because making seafood can be intimidating. There is a parking lot close to the store which makes shopping easier in the city. read more

Wholey's is the place to go for fresh seafood in the burgh. It's got live and fresh fish so of course it'll smell like fish. They also have poultry and produce, but are known for its seafood and the prices are reasonable. I'll go again this weekend to pickup some shrimp. read more

Store is clean and well stocked. They do a large volume so the fish is fresh. Fish monger will fix your fish as you like. I use this store as a grocery store because I live in the neighborhood. Meat and produce are good. Nice staff read more

We just received our smoked whitefish and although it was after Christmas, we have enjoyed every bite. It has taken us back to the days where that was Christmas breakfast. Thank you so much for sending us such a great product. read more

I'm a huge seafood gal so this place got 5 stars easy! Everything fresh and delish. You can go to eat or shop. Located in Pittsburghs strip district it's the perfect place to get a bite on a busy Saturday afternoon. read more

The lobster and crab bisque here is really good. But I must say that I was expecting a bit more from a fresh fish market. I wish the soup would have had more/bigger chunks of fresh lobster and crab in it. read more

Came across this place while out with a few friends. Was very unhappy with the service and the quality of the food. When we received our food it was cold, and the waitress seemed to have an attitude. read more
