This location in the south side opened just a couple of weeks ago so of course my trusty sidekick and I had to try it out and wow what a flavor explosion! The fish and all the other ingredients were so fresh and delish and the person helping us was very patient and gave us great recommendations! I really didn't think I'd like mango in our classic burrito or in the Pittsburgh poke bowl but just do it - it was a nice balance to the heat we had in both dishes. Lots of space to eat and location and as nice and clean - want to come back for sure and try more !

Fish was spoiled, Tasted very fishy and had to throw it out. It was really gross. Sushi looked good, but it the fish was rancid.

IF YOURE WONDERING "is this the same poke place that was downtown by the McDonalds"? IT IS. SAME OWNERS AND TEAM. i could not be more happy that they are back in service. the food is just as good as I remember it - fresh, tasty, and lots of awesome. the space is also a lot bigger than their downtown location too. i'm so happy they are back.

I ordered through postmates and got a wildly incorrect order (though correct enough to know that it was still mine). The food that I did get was very tasty! The vegetarian and vegan options are lovely and I've been on the search for a good sushi burrito since I moved here a year ago. Unfortunately, the tamago sashimi I ordered was not included. The burrito I ordered was almost delivered, but as a bowl instead of a burrito. A surprise additional sushi burrito was included but, unfortunately, my partner and I do not eat meat and fish so we had to give it to neighbours. The food that did arrive was very good, but I do wish that more attention to detail was there.

They had me at 'sushi burrito'! Went in and there was no one there which allowed me to really look things over. I got the burrito with tuna and salmon, white rice and a bunch of veggies. I don't know if the bowls are less food, but this burrito was HUGE. And for the price, it's a deal. You would normally get a single sushi roll for $11 and this burrito is more food than a single roll. I got a side of the seaweed salad to try. It was a nice side for the burrito. I highly recommend going. I will definitely be back when I'm in town.

This is one my favorite places to get lunch in downtown Pittsburgh. I love burritos - I love sushi - so unsurprisingly, I love the sushi burritos here! I admittedly haven't been able to break my burrito addiction and order any actual poke bowls yet. Soon though! This eatery may look plain and simple, but don't let that appearance fool you or scare you off. This place is home to some quality food, as well as very good staff who can keep a line moving and make you smile with their delicious creations. Although, I guess it's really YOUR creations, since you can pick what goes in your burrito or bowl! Currently I usually order one of the pre-set menu options because it's a great combination (Spicy tuna, salmon, cucumber, avocado, spicy mayo wrapped in sushi rice, sesame seeds and nori.). But for those of you who want something more: the sushi burritos work the same as their poke bowls. You can choose a base (rice, greens, quinoa, or half & half), two or three proteins, plus your mix-ins and sauces. The staff will put your order together similar to a Chipotle ordering line, and you'll be ready to dine! As others have mentioned, this place is small, so it's best to come early or to be ready to carry your food out to eat elsewhere. And if you're totally new to the poke/sushi burrito game, their four pre-set menu options can help you get familiar with the process and the flavors you can combine. So go forth and create your meals, my friends - and enjoy!

I came here on a Monday right before they were closing and the waitress was so nice to take my to go order and allow me to still place an order. I ordered the poke bowl with all raw fish : tuna and salmon, as well as, a sushi burrito. The food was phenomenal and I will most definitely return again in the near future.

Made a bowl with seared tuna, rice, greens, mango, avacodo, carrots, cucumber, edamame, corn, fried onions with ginger sauce. Tasty n healthy. Love this place.

Clean and quiet. Service was incredible and fast. The food does not disappoint either. The pork belly buns are INCREDIBLE! The Crab Rangoon are delicious. The wrapper is thin but crispy and the filling is better than any other ones I've ever had. All of the sushi rolls I've ordered have not disappointed either. I can't recommend this place more. It's so good I've ordered from them on a Friday and again on Sunday. Definitely worth it!

My prayers have been answered! I thought only "trendy" cliché cities like NYC or LA would have poke bowl/sushi burrito places, but when I found out that this little hole in the wall existed, right in the center of downtown PGH, and a mere 800 ft from my apartment, I was jumping with joy! The establishment isn't anything fancy, just a grab-n-go place set up like a Subway or Chipotle. First, you choose your base- white rice/brown rice/quinoa/mixed greens, then pick your protein-seared or spicy tuna, salmon, seared salmon, tofu or chicken, then veggies, sauces and toppings. Overall, extremely filling! A great post workout meal with all the protein. I've only been there twice, but my favorite is the salmon and seared tuna with quinoa/mixed greens base, with cucumber, red cabbage, mango, cilantro, avocado, red onion, seaweed salad, fried onions, house spicy miso with spicy mayo and nori flakes. Have yet to try the sushi burrito but will save that for a day I can afford to binge on carbs ;). I suggested that they start a frequent customer punchcard for those who eat here frequently (like I know I will be!). Hopefully they do something like that soon, with it being $12-$13 a bowl. Thanks Pittsburgh Poke, for existing!

Found this little gem near market square. The outer exterior of the restaurant is humble but don't let that sway you away because the food is great. We ordered two items on our recent visit -- the house bowl 2 and house burrito 1. The portions were generous especially the rice. The only change I would make next time is to ask for less rice and to switch the white rice to brown rice. The seafood in both the dishes were delicious and the sauces drizzled on top added a nice touch. The lady who prepared our dishes was quite fast and so I guess this is fast food in a way but not in the typical sense because the food is healthy. Carb heavy but you can definitely customize your bowl/burrito the way you want. Delicious! 5 stars hands down.

We've been meaning to stop by this place for quite some time. A man walked up behind us while we were standing outside the door, wondering if today was the day, and he said "if you're trying to decide, the answer is yes! It's really good." We took his word for it and we were not disappointed. We opted to share a sushi bowl because we weren't incredibly hungry. There were tons of toppings! We added all kinds of stuff in our bowl and were impressed that the different types of fish didn't cost more. It was a standard price for 2 or 3 proteins. This was awesome because usually when you go for sushi the price depends on the type of fish and can get pretty expensive. We really enjoyed the bowl and it met our needs for how hungry we were. The restaurant was neat and clean and the service was great!

I've been generally impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered takeout this time, and everything was extremely well packaged and presented. In terms of the food, we focussed on fairly standard maki rolls: a spicy salmon roll and a spicy California roll. Both were very nicely done. We also tried the veg farm roll, and that was a nice vegetable forward option. Not life changing, but nicely done. We also opted for a vegetable poke bowl, and that was also good. Basically the same combination of vegetables as the veg farm roll, but in a bowl format. The bowl was good, but it was lacking some sort of sauce or glaze that might have pulled things together. It was easy enough to toss on some condiments of our own, but the bowl could have been better. Overall, I this is my favorite sushi destination in Squirrel Hill. It's very clear that the owners are invested in turning out a high quality experience, and that's exactly the type of business I like to support.

Their selection of appetizers were great, and the quality of each was stellar. We attempted to try quite a few of them, and still have many we want to try. In our group, the tofu with an amazing dashi broth, the crab puffs, "sexy jalepenos", tempura kani, and the gyoza were the standouts. As I stated, though...everything we had was awesome. We all ordered a different ramen, and then shared. They were all phenomenal. The steak teriyaki was also great. Sushi wise, we didn't get to try as many as we had hoped. We were too busy reordering the appetizers. We did try the Crazy Mango roll, and ended up reordering that because it was so good. My kids were with me, and they love all things Mango, and this was phenomenal. For dessert, we had a few orders (and reorders!) of the fried bananas. Overall, I cannot speak higher of our experience. It is very clean, well kept up on, and the service was phenomenal. Quality wise, you can tell how much effort they put into the place purely on their presentation. I had to remark many times about how utterly beautiful some of their dishes were. This was not like our other AYCE experiences where they just rush food out to you. They actually put effort into their craft here, and it is quite obvious. We will definitely be back, and look forward to trying new things that we didn't get to before!

My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

Having 2 kids at home and a dutiful dad to watch them, I did not do the responsible thing, make a reservation weeks in advance. I highly recommend that you do this for this high end and highly sought sushi experience. I managed to get lucky and snag my group a 4:00 pm table for 4. I'm sure what you are thinking is that is incredibly too early to eat, but look at it this way - 2 of us have small children and truthfully eating fancy food while our husbands put the kids to bed and making it home just in time to snuggle up and watch tv ended up being absolutely perfect. First, the view is insane. You are perched atop a mountain overlooking 3 rivers converging. It's gorgeous. You will take a picture. Second, the service is outstanding. I've actually been twice this year just to confirm my first experience wasn't a fluke. Extremely attentive staff who make you believe they want you to have the best culinary experience possible, maybe they actually do! We ordered nearly everything on the menu. My favorite dish is the yellowtail jalapeno. It is unreal good. I also tried uni, which was very unique. Probably not something I need to indulge in every time, but still very cool. Our group enjoyed sharing all of our plates with each other. I left feeling so satisfied. It is an understatement to say that Otaru is excellent. It was shockingly not busy until about 630pm and they open at 4. There is no valet, just street parking. They provided complimentary edamame which had a great little spicy kick. I ordered the sour, the yuzu gave it a nice fresh citrus taste. My husband had a scotch and Coke. We decided to order the experience which began with a tartar (salmon, tuna and yellowtail on a bed of tuna). Amazing. We then had a two piece sashimi with jalapeño and crispy potato in a sauce that was similar to Italian dressing. This was our favorite of the entire night. Next was a shrimp tasting. It had shaved cucumber and seaweed in a light brown sauce, perhaps a mirin. It was okay, like a cold miso. We then had a dish I had only seen videos of called Chawanmushi. It was like an eggy flan served hot. My husband was not a fan but I was. Then was the first nigiri which the bartender was kind enough to split for us. It included 4 light pieces of sushi. After that there was a cold infused tomato palate cleanser and the second nigiri with "darker" fish. It was all delicious. After that was a fatty tuna hand roll (like a sushi taco) which was amazing as well. And last for the savory items, a soft shell crab which was very, very good. The yellow sauce tasted like the yellow of a potato salad with tastes that mimicked mayo, mustard and pickles. We ordered another round of drinks and I had a dirty martini which they called The New 32. The last item is the red bean dessert but we opted to order more food and had the Treasure Box ($78) which had 9 different sashimis. There were a few repeats from the experience portion but we were happy to have the first sashimi item again. And last, we had the red bean dessert as well as a complimentary tiramisu dessert for the husband's birthday. The bill was just over $300 which was expected for the location, amount of food and overall quality and experience.
