Wow- can't believe I haven't written a review of this iconic Bay Area family catering business!…read more If you live in the bay there's a very high chance you've had Rafael's Catering in one of your social events. They have been around since I've been a kid and I've had the pleasure of eating their delicious grub at weddings, birthdays, baby showers (including my own), graduations, you name it! They offer a popular international menu which includes their trademark rotisserie chicken (my fave!) and several delicious Filipino entrees including pancit, menudo and a whole lechon! They also have a classic American menu (pasta, mashed potatoes, ham, chicken, roast beef, etc.). Their prices are fair and the food is so good! The owners, Joe and Frankie Santos and their family are amazing. They have a knack for simultaneously exuding professionalism and making you feel like family. Thank you Santos family for always providing A+ catering service to the Bay Area!

The pricing was fair and they offered food samples before we committed using them. The food was great and they made it so easy - they set everything up at the venue and came to pick it all back up at the end of the night! They advised us ahead of time to pick up some to-go containers which came in handy. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a local catering company!

We originally decided to go with Jasmine because of how many unique vegetarian options they offered, and the food was absolutely incredible -- hands down the best meal I've ever had at a wedding and better than most restaurant meals I've had recently. We had passed appetizers and a buffet-style dinner with pistachio-crusted salmon, vegetable orzo, salad, and eggplant tagine, all of which were cooked perfectly and were so delicious! We got non-stop compliments from our guests about the food and how friendly the catering staff were. The whole team were very helpful throughout the night. Oded himself is very kind and humble and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding went smoothly. We didn't have a wedding planner, so he patiently and quickly responded to lots of emails from me to answer questions about the venue and confirm details about the wedding timeline. He was also extremely flexible and accommodated lots of quirky DIY elements we included as part of our wedding day, and came early to unlock the venue himself because he knew I was anxious about getting everything set up in time. While the event was happening, we had an issue with our sound system which his staff helped us fix in just a few minutes. All in all, our wedding was perfect thanks to Oded and his team, and I don't think the day would have gone nearly as smoothly if we hadn't chosen Jasmine Catering!

The market's weekly email…read moremessage explained two days before that openings can occur in the market due to family emergencies or vacations, or for other reasons. When that happens, the market will introduce its clientele to "a start-up vendor, or someone who's too small to commit to a weekly gig, or someone who wants to try out a cool new product." The market manager, Chris, cited Pickles n' Smoke as an example of the new surprises we can look forward to. When I showed up last Sunday at noon, there was a short line to order. Customers were curious about the new vendor; perhaps many had showed up expecting Fat Daddy's, which is the usual operation at this corner. During my short walk down the market to the Pickles tent, someone whispered in my ear that the brisket from PnS was delicious. As a result, I ordered the brisket sammi, a relatively small sweet roll piled high with brisket, slaw and sauce. The sandwich cost $19, which was somewhat more than I expected to pay; the price, however, did not strike me as outrageous. I paid in cash and was pleased that there was no tip bucket begging for the dollar bill that I received in change. The sandwich was quite excellent. All the flavors blended together very well, and I wasn't terribly bothered by the sweetness of the roll. If PnS comes back to the market, I'll try buying some barbecued meat in bulk or composing a "plate," which can include multiple meats and sides.

At least 70% pure fat. How disappointing! And I ordered baked beans side--underdone! Gross! I did go back to let her know: she said she would tell the chef. $22 down the tubes. How very disappointing
