The greatest hit was the merlot braised short rib--mouthwatering and soft like butter. We hired Olive for our Oct wedding in Berkeley and we're still obsessed with them! I emailed a few caterers and Elinor was the first to respond and with an offer to chat on the phone to hear more about my vision. I was very particular about what I wanted and I requested lots of things that were not on Olives's normal menu. Elinor looked through my list and a week later, came up with an incredible menu that incorporated the specific tastes and ingredients that I wanted. She said although they were not their specialties, they would find recipes and experiment and perfect them for our special day! How many other caterers would offer to do that?! We booked them without tasting them. We did eventually go to a tasting and WOW. We were impressed with Arkadi and his team. The food was beyond delicious. We were so happy with what we ate and with the Olive team and so excited that we found a gem of a caterer! On the day of, everything was perfect. They did all of the setup and it was fabulous. Our guests raved about the food and we received so many compliments about the taste, variety and abundance of food! Our guests with dietary restrictions were so happy to have a large selection to choose from. Elinor came to see me in the dressing room and brought me food and then Arkadi made us plates and brought them to us at the sweetheart table. Those kind moments made our wedding even more special and cemented Olive a special place in our hearts. Elinor is the warmest and sweetest person you'll ever meet. She was not pushy, was very patient, understanding and flexible. Throughout the process, I asked a ton of questions, to which she patiently responded to in equal detail. We only had 2 hours for setup before my guests arrived. Elinor, her staff, & the rental trucks were there when I arrived. Everyone burst into action : tables & chairs in place, cooks in the prep kitchen, etc. Elinor & her staff thought on their feet to solve a couple of small issues. We hired Olive Cater for our end of summer office event that was hosted in a backyard for about 20 people. Elinor and I chatted on the phone two weeks prior to the event to get a feel for what we needed and what we were looking for, then worked within our budget to create a really diverse and delicious menu. We were able to lock everything down within a few days and she responded quickly to any questions I had. The food was so fresh and perfect for the hot evening. There was a great balance between vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and gluten free options as well. When setting up the buffet table, the presentation was absolutely photo worthy and once the food had been set up, some of us actually prevented people from filling their plates so we could get a capture of the spread! Over the course of the evening, dishes that were low were replenished quickly and the timing between dinner and dessert was very well thought out. At the end of the night, Elinor even made us some fresh mint tea to enjoy post dessert. Elinor, Arkadi and Ben felt like family and really just helped to create a delicious, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere to spend an evening. They provided timely responses to our emails and we also had several phone calls and in-person meetings to discuss our vision for the reception. Elinor and Arkadi came up with a great menu after we put somewhat challenging requirements on them since we had a small budget, wanted to have a nice variety of dishes, have vegan food options for some of our guests, and also restricted the use of some ingredients due to food allergies. Olive cater catered our wedding this past Saturday night. We chose a Moroccan feast food. Words can not described the tasty , incredible amazing food Arkadi and Elinor team prepared for us. As soon as I have pictures I will post it. The appetizers, lamb and beef kobabbs on a cinnamon stick were a hit. The mushrooms burekas were phenomenal with roasted vegetables. The feast itself, the dinner had lamb tagine, Salmon chrime and chicken with olives. Array of tantalizing salads and couscous. Truthfully, our guests were beside themselves.
