Cassie and her crew were SO EASY to work with! From the prompt communication and navigating menu to her crew that came and set up everything so beautifully. The guests raved about the food and the presentation was just as good. Thank you ABO! We were very grateful for all of your help

My best friend got married and she hired this venue. We were very satisfied. Service: the team arrived early and prepared everything in advance. Brought nice chairs and set ups. They were very kind and easy to work with. Service was very nice throughout the whole dinner. Decorations were so pretty and photogenic. After the event, they cleared the area like they were never there. Food: appetizers were perfect with pre-meal wines. My favorite was bacon wrapped scallops. Salad was ordinary, nothing to complain about. We had options for main course: steak or white fish. I chose steak and it was cooked perfectly- medium. Sauce and sides were great addition. Five star professionals. I strongly recommend this place!

There is no words to describe the exceptional catering service and service I received for my engagement proposal. From the initial contact with Kelly to the set up of the proposal by Cassie and her assistant. The food was exceptional. They helped me surprise my fiancé. The proposal looks like something out of a movie. They coordinated her favorite color is her favorite foods her favorite flowers and a runway of rose petals with candles. It was amazing from start to finish. They even stayed to take a video of the proposal which we will cherish forever. I highly recommend this company. Thank you so much for making our day so special.

This my first time to use Anything But Ordinary! I found them on Yelp and after reading reviews and looking at other photos from previous events they did not disappoint us! From the start of the contract very easy to express what I wanted till the final set up it was impressive! For this event a bridal shower tea themed party, the details for the tables, the food and beverage tables were beautifully done. Thank you so much to Cassie the chef and whole team of Anything But Ordinary!! My family and friends were impressed and will refer you!!

A friend saw I had invited Anything but Ordinary for my wife's 40th birthday gala, and asked: Would you use their services again. Here's what I wrote her back: "In a heartbeat. Cassie did Charity's 40th Birthday for me. Best food I've had at a catering, she adds more value as a creative instigator and full solution as well. Had I not called her, the dinner, dessert, and vibe for Charity's party would have been just a poker party...instead friends are still talking about the EXPERIENCE, food, and fun. Cassie was central to the experience for me. " I'm an event promoter, specializing in experience for people who visit my events, but when it comes to details like food and decor, it's important we nail it. I'm not nearly as focused, or specialized in creating something cool for my wife or daughters, sadly! Good news Husbands and Fathers: Cassie and her small army make the details, small and big, come to technicolor reality....even though all I knew about catering was "beef satay" they took my 1 item catering vocabulary and created a mouthwatering selections of small plates from ceviche, tomato and basil brioche, and epic display of a casino themed cake pops...with a small custom cake that tasted wonderful, to accommodate the traditional birthday candle & song. Honestly, I should could have tripled the invoice that I received at the end, and been thrilled writing the check, knowing that the Experience of Charity's Birthday was Anything But Ordinary. All 23 guests will always remember it (And my wife thinks I'm a hero; you apparently can buy that kind of "super husband status", boys).

*This review is for the food tasting and customer service I have received so far. Our wedding isn't until August and I know it will be perfect because of Cassie and her team* I don't even know where to begin. We had our food tasting a few months ago with Cassie and were blown away by the food. We picked the mini bruschetta, screaming Sebastian (mushrooms stuffed with crab) and the mini sliders for our passed appetizers. It was really hard to choose because everything was so good. Cassie is definitely not the "snooty" type of caterer that just wants your money. I am and 23 and my fiancé is 24 and we don't have a big budget to work with so when I went to check out other places we felt very uncomfortable and out of place. She is the most helpful person and really has been going above and beyond with our requests and has worked with our budget in every way We had a big wedding planned at first and had to change our plans unexpectedly because of reasons in the family and Cassie was very accommodating and completely worked with us. She is doing not only our food, but our drinks, cake and desserts, rentals AND flowers. It's such a stress relief to have all that booked in ONE contract and not threw multiple different vendors. No more stressful wedding planned. I can't wait until our big day! I know it will be perfect and stress free because of ABO catering.

A truly professional team could not have made a more magical time for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower in February 2015! The decorations could not have been more beautiful. We were doing a Bali theme for the bridal shower and there was a problem with the Bali umbrella centerpieces. Cassie went out and purchased them which she didn't have to do and they were beautiful. She saved the day as they were the magnificent centerpieces! She really loves and cares about what she does as it shows in her attention to your needs. There was a lot going on at that time for us and she took a lot of stress off of me in organizing the shower. Cassie could not have been easier to work with and very understanding. I don't think anybody could have been as understanding as she was and put on such a beautiful party for us. Cassie and her assistant came early to set the party up. When I came out of my room I could not believe what they had done to the house me outside. It had such a "Zen" like feeling and was breathtaking. There were candles and island themed flowers on the food stations, orchids on the table settings, and other parts of the house. She made a beautiful doll cake, beautiful bridal dress sugar cookies which everyone raved about, and the food and presentation it was spectacular. Of course we were running late with the games that the girls were playing, but her assistant was patient and understanding and enjoyed watching everybody having fun. The food was just amazing, the presentation was first class and again her willingness and kindness was amazing. That's what makes Cassie such a wonderful businesswoman as she takes pride in what she does. We use used them before from my husband's 50th birthday party that had a tiki surf theme and to this day people so talk about. Thank you to Cassie and her team as we will be using you again!

Cassie and her Staff really went above and beyond to make our wedding one of a kind. It was more PERFECT than we could have dreamed of. The Overall Experience: Cassie and her team offered to do way more than average caterers. I mean assistance with decor, decor rentals, cake service, and even champagne! When they offered to assist with decor, our cake, and our linens I knew I had to use them for our wedding. And let me be the first to say that our decor requests were a little extensive and a bit out of the ordinary since we were having a Kentucky Derby themed Wedding. It's really a one stop shop! Flexibility: Cassie and her team provide SO many amazing services and extras. From rentals, to decor, to linens and champagne! I can't say THANK YOU enough to her and her team for ALL of the amazing work they did. I have a 7 page list of things that needed to be done with pictures attached...and they absolutely NAILED IT. Staff: Cassie is amazing, very responsive, and has a wonderfully creative mind. If she can't do what you're asking or if she isn't familiar with it she'll at least try it or come up with an alternative solution. She did our cake and all our food and everything was finger licking GOOD....MMMmm I wish I could have round 2 to be honest! I booked Cassie and her team almost a year prior to our wedding, but I was one of those brides that had a pretty good idea of what I wanted and stuck to my choices for the most part. The best way to contact them is via phone to get immediate responses to your questions. This is especially the case during holidays and prime wedding season. If you do email, be sure to CC: Cassie on the emails or give them a call you can usually get your questions answered almost immediately. Creativity: Cassie's creativity is amazing. I wanted to make sure that my guests got to experience things that are usually never or rarely seen at weddings. I wanted "different" without trying to hard and looking crazy! With Cassie's help on the food selections, platting, and decor we made it all come together in a classy yet elegant fashion. One of my favorite ideas was our mashed potatoes being served in martini glasses and For instance I didn't want your regular cake so with Cassie's help we chose: Peach Velvet / (White Cake) Marble with Peach Schnapps and Vanilla Mouse w/ a strawberry preserve. *IT was AMAZING...and our guests went back for seconds! It was so moist and she did my custom cake with NO fondant!!!* Food: The flavor profiles she has come up with are so creative and even more tasty. We had our food tasting at her office and everything was amazing. We had a hard time narrowing our selections down... but we ended up choosing tri-tip w/ mango and a chicken and Brussel Sprout entree. We had hors d'oeuvres: Coconut shrimp, chicken, and bacon wrapped scallops. Value: Ummmm let's just say it doesn't get any better :)!. We ordered our cake, cocktail hour food (3 hors d'oeuvres-mentioned above), and a sit down meal with 2 options for our guests. EVERYONE said the food was amazing and the presentation was even better. I'm telling you I can hardly wait until we can whip out our cake for our 1 year anniversary just so I can have another slice of heaven. We plan on contacting Cassie and her team very soon...I HAVE absolutely no regrets for choosing Cassie and her team to do our wonderful wedding. And I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the phone to use her again or recommend her other brides-to-be! Ohh and to top it off, before our wedding day started Cassie stopped me to exchange some kind and calming words as well as a beautiful gift that I'll cherish forever. Cassie and her team did my wedding in Oceanside on August, 16, 2014. The event was beautifully catered and the staff was exceptional. ABO did my décor just the way I pictured! Cassie was very attentive, she texted and called giving suggestions, and even sending pictures of ideas. The food was plated and she gave us a variety of options to choose from! All were absolutely delicious ... she really is an amazing chef. They went above and beyond with our wedding, she even helped with coordination since my wedding was at the beach and the reception was in another location. She set up two venues, and offered a wedding captain to help with coordination. Everything turned out fabulous, and it was all thanks to ABO. -If you want the best you have to go with them! We met with several wedding planners, who were all great, but once we met Lisa we knew she was the one! Lisa immediately felt like family, someone you could trust, someone who listened and asked all the right questions. She always has your best interest in mind and is always there to remind you that everything will be okay. We selected the "wedding planning assistance" package because we truly needed all the help we could get! I would HIGHLY recommend this package to anyone because wedding planning is truly a marathon and Lisa is your coach during the whole process. She helps you sort out all the details that you don't even realize you need to think about. Right away, she came up with a game plan that prioritized our budget. She recommended vendors who, on our wedding day, delivered top-tier service. She is well-connected within the San Diego wedding industry and is beloved by these vendors, and I understand why. She attended vendor meetings with us and made sure the vendors understood our vision all while remaining cost-conscious. Did I mention she helped us stay within our budget?! Bailey and I frequently communicated with Lisa, asking her all kinds of questions. She responded quickly and offered incredible advice when we were torn between certain decisions. Lisa is so positive, always smiling, and constantly reassures you that your special day will turn out beautiful. AND IT WILL, in large part, due to her execution on the day of. Wedding planning isn't just Lisa's business, it goes deeper than that - it's her passion. During the whole planning process, we felt just how much she cared about making our wedding day special for us. Bailey and I agree that our wedding day was the best day of our lives! Everything flowed so smoothly, she made sure we stuck to the timeline all while ensuring we did not miss special moments with our guests. Lisa was the second coordinator I interviewed and after meeting with her I knew I wanted to go with her based on her experience and ease she carried. My husband and I got married at The Darlington House in La Jolla and she was one of a few that were highly recommended, and it was the best decision ever! I am an extremely organized and scheduled person, so when I met Lisa I was instantly at ease. She was so friendly and so organized that I knew our wedding was in good hands. Lisa was also there for me with answers to any of my questions and a couple weeks before the big day when we met, she had everything laid our perfectly. She really helped bring my visions to life with her attention to detail. She knew exactly the aesthetic and vibe I was going for and really helped tie up any loose ends. The day of our wedding could not have gone more perfect! There wasn't a single thing I would have changed and just so grateful for Lisa and her team to make the whole day run so smoothly. I was appalled to learn after my wedding was over that Michelle was rude and yelled at multiple…read morepeople and guests at my wedding. I will review both the good and bad about having Michelle as my partial day of coordinator. I met up with Michelle months before the wedding to talk to her about hiring her for a 4 hour shift during my wedding. She seemed nice and courteous. I needed her for 2 hours to set up some DIY items I had made for the ceremony and 2 hours for reception. I had made all the things for the wedding and she didn't have to provide anything. The good was that she was responsive to phone calls and texts. She came to our rehearsal but had to leave early for a concert which I didn't mind very much bc since she was a partial coordinator and also came early so I could show here where I wanted things to go. I did notice that her attitude towards my other vendors was not pleasant on the wedding day. I saw her be snappy to at least two of my other vendors who were really patient and nice but I was too busy as a bride to really think anything of it at the time. Later on I found out that she snapped directions at my bridesmaids and groomsmen to do tasks that I had paid her to do. They said at one point she was just sitting at a bench and not doing anything. She complained that she didn't know where things were suppose to go so my groomsmen took the blueprint that I had printed out for her and did the set up themselves. Several of my bridesmaids complained that she was rude and just didn't do her job. Michelle also complained that I didn't tell her what to do with our centerpieces even though I did multiple times. Overall, I would say my bridal party did at least 80% of the set up of our ceremony (they transported and set up the arch, the flowers in the aisle way) and finished setting up some reception tables like the dessert table. Michelle had to do the rest and set up some signs at the ceremony, put up some reserve seats signs for family, help us with procession, set up the dessert and check in table and centerpieces at the reception but she did not do it with grace and was rude to my friends and the other wedding vendors. We had a lot of mishaps as all wedding do, some vendors were really late but the only vendor complaint I got was that Michelle was rude. I was very overwhelmed that day but even I was not rude to my vendors and my guests and bridal party. For someone that is paid almost $90 a hour just to be at my wedding and set up some items, she didn't do a good job by any means. I wanted Michelle there to help take the load and burden off my bridal party but it sounds like she made it worse for them. I hope she will be able to be more courteous to her future bridal parties because as a bride, hearing that your 4-hour coordinator was rude and snappy to your friends and vendors is not pleasant. My friends had to jump in and help us despite dealing with her attitude. I can not recommend her and I'm sorry to say that if I could redo the wedding, I would go with a different coordinator or none at all.

Day-of Coordination: Elena stood out not only on the wedding day but also in the months leading up to it. She was incredibly helpful during the planning process--offering thoughtful insight into creating a seamless timeline and even helping with ideas for decor and place settings tailored to our outdoor, beachy (and occasionally windy!) wedding. She thought of every detail, from preparing us in advance to get those dreamy photos (like the first kiss and cake cutting) to ensuring everything ran on schedule without a hitch. On the day, Elena was a true lifesaver. From the rehearsal to the ceremony and reception, I never once had to worry about where I needed to be or what was next. She kept everything moving smoothly, pointing me in the right direction while allowing me to fully enjoy the company of our guests and the magic of the day. I booked her early and we initially just did a couple meetings to discuss our vision and needs regarding coordination, vendor contracts and florals since we did not need a full-planning service, only partial. She was always upfront and gave me honest opinions especially when it came to where to splurge and save, and what could look good and what wouldn't. The last 2 months is where she really shined, helping us follow up with vendors on details, setting deadlines for me to book rentals, reviewing contracts and constantly doing sanity checks when I needed it. The day of, she came extremely prepared, everything flowed smoothly (except some technical issues on part of the venue) and she was great at going with the flow and just letting the vibe and natural mood of the day go, and fixing whatever problems I threw at her. We also had her as our florist and she truly out did herself- her prices were incredibly reasonable and she handled everything like a champ when her assistant got sick the day of the reception. She also took my back and forth floral design suggestions and changes very well, as I am quite particular on details in some areas and deferred to her expertise in others. Honestly could not have done it without her and she was without a doubt my #1 worth it vendor! Would absolutely hire her for all your wedding planning and floral needs.

I am someone who does not style their hair, unless you consider a messy top knot on dirty hair days "styling". And since the pandemic, I've almost completely dropped makeup from my daily routine. But when it came time to plan my tiny backyard wedding, I realized as simple as the event was, I still wanted my look to encapsulate an elevated version of me - not far and away, but special. MAGICAL. Certainly not something I know how to do myself. Just Lago popped up after digging through way too many cookie-cutter, Kardashian-looking portfolios. I'm a spiritually-leaning gal with a deep interest in the health & wellness space. The moment I saw that there was a hair & makeup studio in SD with a background in spiritual wellness practices, with an owner (Dana!) who has an MBA helping creative entrepreneurs and classifies herself as The Original Chillzilla, I was in. No one else is standing behind the message of making sure you're extra chill and extra YOU on your wedding day. Dana is. Dana DOES. I could wax poetic about this human and her many talents. She is warm, welcoming, considerate, no BS. She brings a curiosity to the table and seems to celebrate every tiny thing about everyone. And her presence is so gentle and soothing. How luxurious! Especially on such a sensitive day. The look we created together was glowy and natural, with a bohemian edge. I asked for a messy, undone hairstyle with many many braids; she joked to me as she was prepping my hair that she was called "The Braid Queen" in cosmetology school. Divine synchronicity for me!! To wrap this up, here is a real, unedited text I sent to Dana a few days after my wedding: "Greetings from the other side! My magical braids lasted for two days, and everyone's response to both my hair and makeup was equal parts "so you" and "ethereal". Honestly, it was everything and more that I could have hoped for.
