The staff were great, very friendly and super professional. Food was very good, the cheese platter was delicious and greatly designed. The fact that they brought real plates&forks and not disposable ones, was very impressive. I try to avoid using plastic/paper plates and utensils, and this was great. Wow. I read all the other reviews and I cannot believe this was the same place we had cater our party. It's wild! From the get go we never spoke to anyone on the phone. We did everything by email with Cassie in the beginning. We had a hard time choosing the food because the options were vast - like overwhelming almost. I finally chose "stir fry" because it was vegetarian and we also got a chicken option and some appetizers like salmon and charcuterie. The apps were delicious. The "stir fry" however was not. It was underwhelming to say the least. And it was so much food I felt like it was really thrown together. Soggy veggies. Limp ramen. I asked for pictures ahead of time so I could see what I was getting but nope they don't have pictures of their own food. Weird. The best part was Blanca who dropped off and picked up everything. She was really nice and helpful. Cassie the owner never reached out to confirm the party ahead of time and worse - didn't call to see how everything was afterward. Wow!!! ABO delivered better than I expected (but after all the great reviews, why would this surprise me?)!!! Set up was on time and so comfortable. Guests were delighted by the presentation...The ketchup infusions for the sliders will be talked about for ages! And the tomato soup shots with bread atop needed explanation, but revealed wonder at the cleverness. The chicken and steak satay were good, but as the evening wore out, so did they. Top star yum were the chicken wontons, but absolute favorite was the coconut shrimp. They all have clever names, but I'm doing the common name. Leftover sliders were dried out/hard...30 seconds in the microwave (infuse ketchup prior...LOL) and a touch of mayo/mustard for me and I couldn't eat just one!! They were very kind and easy to work with. Service was very nice throughout the whole dinner. Decorations were so pretty and photogenic. After the event, they cleared the area like they were never there. Food: appetizers were perfect with pre-meal wines. My favorite was bacon wrapped scallops. There is no words to describe the exceptional catering service and service I received for my engagement proposal. From the initial contact with Kelly to the set up of the proposal by Cassie and her assistant. The food was exceptional. They helped me surprise my fiancé. *This review is for the food tasting and customer service I have received so far. Our wedding isn't until August and I know it will be perfect because of Cassie and her team* I don't even know where to begin. We had our food tasting a few months ago with Cassie and were blown away by the food. We picked the mini bruschetta, screaming Sebastian (mushrooms stuffed with crab) and the mini sliders for our passed appetizers. It was really hard to choose because everything was so good. Cassie is definitely not the "snooty" type of caterer that just wants your money. I am and 23 and my fiancé is 24 and we don't have a big budget to work with so when I went to check out other places we felt very uncomfortable and out of place. She is the most helpful person and really has been going above and beyond with our requests and has worked with our budget in every way We had a big wedding planned at first and had to change our plans unexpectedly because of reasons in the family and Cassie was very accommodating and completely worked with us. She is doing not only our food, but our drinks, cake and desserts, rentals AND flowers. It's such a stress relief to have all that booked in ONE contract and not threw multiple different vendors. A truly professional team could not have made a more magical time for my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower in February 2015! The decorations could not have been more beautiful. We were doing a Bali theme for the bridal shower and there was a problem with the Bali umbrella centerpieces. Cassie went out and purchased them which she didn't have to do and they were beautiful. She saved the day as they were the magnificent centerpieces! She really loves and cares about what she does as it shows in her attention to your needs. There was a lot going on at that time for us and she took a lot of stress off of me in organizing the shower. Cassie could not have been easier to work with and very understanding. I don't think anybody could have been as understanding as she was and put on such a beautiful party for us. Cassie and her assistant came early to set the party up. When I came out of my room I could not believe what they had done to the house me outside. It had such a "Zen" like feeling and was breathtaking. There were candles and island themed flowers on the food stations, orchids on the table settings, and other parts of the house. She made a beautiful doll cake, beautiful bridal dress sugar cookies which everyone raved about, and the food and presentation it was spectacular. Of course we were running late with the games that the girls were playing, but her assistant was patient and understanding and enjoyed watching everybody having fun. The food was just amazing, the presentation was first class and again her willingness and kindness was amazing. The Overall Experience: Cassie and her team offered to do way more than average caterers. I mean assistance with decor, decor rentals, cake service, and even champagne! One of my favorite ideas was our mashed potatoes being served in martini glasses and For instance I didn't want your regular cake so with Cassie's help we chose: Peach Velvet / (White Cake) Marble with Peach Schnapps and Vanilla Mouse w/ a strawberry preserve. *IT was AMAZING...and our guests went back for seconds! It was so moist and she did my custom cake with NO fondant!!!* Food: The flavor profiles she has come up with are so creative and even more tasty. We had our food tasting at her office and everything was amazing. We had a hard time narrowing our selections down... but we ended up choosing tri-tip w/ mango and a chicken and Brussel Sprout entree. We had hors d'oeuvres: Coconut shrimp, chicken, and bacon wrapped scallops. Value: Ummmm let's just say it doesn't get any better :)!. We ordered our cake, cocktail hour food (3 hors d'oeuvres-mentioned above), and a sit down meal with 2 options for our guests. EVERYONE said the food was amazing and the presentation was even better. I'm telling you I can hardly wait until we can whip out our cake for our 1 year anniversary just so I can have another slice of heaven. We had our wedding in Coronado, CA in September 2014. I found ABO Catering and it was the best decision I made for my wedding. I live in Tucson, AZ and Cassie made it so easy to plan the wedding from afar. We brainstormed via emails and she was a genius! She did it all for us: the cake, the catering, the flowers, the decorations for the reception AND ceremony. And she was so quick to respond to my emails even though I was sending so many! The food was amazing! Everyone was going on and on about the food, there was plenty even for those who wanted seconds! The chicken was the most tender chicken I've ever had and the prime rib was to die for. Everything down to the vegetables was just delicious. I'm sad I couldn't get more but being the bride, I was more than preoccupied. The cake was soooo good. I was a little picky because I wanted 2 different flavors of cake and icing but she did it EXACTLY how I wanted and it was gorgeous! It was perfectly moist and rich. I can't wait to have our 1 year anniversary so we can have more! Finally the decorations. I had an idea of what I wanted but no way to explain it. Cassie took what I gave her and turned it into something amazing. The centerpieces were beautiful and I loved the decorations at the ceremony. I wish I could post pictures! My husband and I are very pleased with the services from ABO catering... from arranging our delicious meals, to renting vintage door tables, linens, and bartending service. The staff was friendly and took care of the guests. We booked ABO catering for our wedding, 40 people, and were delighted with Cassie's friendliness, creativity and work ethics. We really felt like Cassie captured our vision in food and pricing. This was the first place we did a tasting and end up being the last. We were happy to hear that meals were cooked on site. I assisted my friend in running her daughter's wedding last night. During set up the staff was helpful but things fell apart during appetizers and dinner. Not enough food or enough staff during the reception. After the mother of the bride went into the kitchen to figure out what was going on we thought the problem would be fixed, but no. It got to the point that myself and another co-worker got appetizers from the kitchen and served them. During dinner service one of the servers was crying while she served food. They ran out of mashed potatoes and while flavorful, the tri-tip was chewy and nearly impossible to cut. The bartender and several of the waiters were trying to make things right, but the team leaders were not having a good night. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but things went sideways. When they asked me for my feedback I told them the good and not so good, and they proceeded to argue with me and the team leaders got very defensive. They then proceeded to sit and whine and complain with each other in full view and earshot. The wedding was over and we were cleaning up. This unprofessional, whining session went on for nearly 45 minutes and many of the family members assisting with breaking down the event commented on how rude and unprofessional the catering staff was being. Nothing extraordinary about the staff or the food last night. I would not recommend this company. read more

Cassie was helpful. Her assistant not so much. I had a very hard time reaching her and had to ask the same questions multiple times before she would respond. She was extremely slow to respond when she did. I ended up chosing abo anyways for my wedding and it was just ok. I think everyone enjoyed their meal except for me (the bride). I requested multiple times to have a vegan meal and I did not get one. I think they gave it someone else because my dad who requested vegetarian said he ate a vegan one.. I asked 3 different servers that the meal given to me was not vegan clearly...it had butter and cheese everywhere. None of them ever fixed it so I basically was grumpy and starved on my wedding day. I remember being so hungry that I just wanted the night to end so I go get some food. Not the way I wanted to remember my wedding night :( I am giving a 2 because the rest of the food like I said had good reviews by those who ate it. I have planned over 80 weddings and since meeting Cassie and her team in 2010 for my own event, I have referred ABO to every bride and made sure, when they were available, we partnered with them. Not only are they the MOST CREATIVE catering company out there, but their food is amazing (I have done dozens of tastings!), their prices can't be BEAT and the service they provide is OVER THE TOP AMAZING! Most recently I planned a wedding in July and had several people (friends and family of the bridal party) who promised to show up and help. Needless to say, on the day of... I had no help and the ABO team rolled up their sleeves and literally took people off their line to help me decorate, pull the tables together, set up chairs and make it all happen. I need to be very clear when I say this..... I COULD NOT HAVE PULLED IT OFF WITHOUT THEM. The venue was new and everything that could have gone wrong, did. (with the venue, not ABO) The ABO team does more than show up for a job, they really care and will do anything to make the event successful. I also find that dealing with their team is very easy and smooth. They are very responsive and will bend over backwards to make a bride's budget work when possible and they come up with creative solutions for any occasion. I have even seen them pull off elegant affairs with very little kitchen resources. Again, they make it happen!! I have a very small number of vendors or people I ever refer. ABO Is ALWAYS one of them along with NR3 video. If anyone is considering a caterer for any event (because I've also hired them for company and corporate parties as well) then message me directly about ABO because I could go ON and ON about how amazing they are and give example after example (I can even send you a video link of my event!!). I would also say the same about NR3 as a videographer. Grab both of these professional teams when you can because they are in demand and understandably so! Thanks ABO for always exceeding my expectations. I could write a book about how amazing the food is and I didn't even touch on that - but everybody knows that - - - I wanted to touch mostly on your level of service, creativity and personal attention. They not only took care of the dinner, cocktail hour, bar, champagne toast, the tables, linens, glasses, plates etc. but also made an amazing cake that exceeded our expectations and provided the chairs and chair covers for the ceremony and reception, the ceremony arch, and ran the whole show that night. It was truly a 1-stop shop which made planning so much easier for us. We could not be happier with the way everything turned out. The Food: We did the food tasting at a beautiful winery in Carlsbad, which was a great experience overall. We tasted many different options and settled on having 3 choices for our guests (tri-tip, salmon, chicken breast). This wasn't the standard wedding fare. There was a unique spin on each dish that made it delicious and unique. We also did a cake tasting and got to choose 3 different layers all with different cake and filling/frosting on each layer. On the wedding night, everything met or exceeded our expectations based on the tasting. The food was absolutely delicious and many guest commented that it was some of the best wedding food they had ever had. The Staff: Cassie and her amazing team did a great job setting everything up, keeping the food coming right on pace, and making sure all our guests were taken care of. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional. Again, many guests commented on how great the staff was. Cassie did a phenomenal job, she's a pro and knows how to get things done and keep things moving. The Value: We feel like we got an incredible deal considering the quality of the food, the service provided and everything ABO took care of for us. Where do I even begin to explain how amazing Cassie and the entire Anything But Ordinary team were? Cassie literally planned out my entire wedding, every single detail. I couldn't have imagined how amazing it would be. She helped me throughout the year planning for my candy bar, flags in the drinks, light streaming, flower choices, drink choices, décor AND SO MUCH MORE. When I say Cassie did it all SHE REALLY DID!!!! I knew going into it that Cassie would give me the wedding of my dreams, but I didn't know how amazing it would be, if I think about it for too long I'll start crying! Cassie would send me emails sometimes late at night, of course I would get them the next day, but it goes to show that she pours her heart and soul into what she does. She planned a tasting for my husband and I and gave us wonderful choices and was extremely patient with us, there was so much to choose from that it took us forever we didn't feel rushed once! Cassie and ABO did my floral arrangements for my entire wedding party, center pieces, wedding arch and accents around the venue and absolutely made it look like a dream. ABO ran our bar and gave us tons of ideas on what the drink choices should be, also provided the bar tender. ABO did an AMAZING job on the food as well, we had the best cocktail hour (the guests raved about how good the passed-appetizers were and creative to boot!). The cocktail hour was also joined with an amazing stationed drink and cheese bar, also amazingly delicious. Obviously, at my wedding, no guests went hungry. The dinner was my favorite! We had Married Greens Salad to start which were, Mixed Greens, Sliced Grapes, Cranberries, Walnuts Feta Cheese and pears. For our remarkable Entrées our guests had a choice between, Marinated Tri Tip with Grilled Asparagus and Twice Baked Mashed Potato, served in a darling martini glass or, Oven Roasted Chicken with Blood Orange-Pomegranate Sauce, with grilled Asparagus and roasted red potatoes...I have heard complements for months about how wonderful the food was. I can't even explain how exquisite the décor was, Cassie and her ABO team have the ability to take the ideas you have and magnify them and create an absolute fairy tale. Cassie worked with me through every idea I had, from flower peddles down the aisle to succulents everywhere and lights strung throughout the venue. The food was good, which you will find hard to get when it comes to wedding receptions. She was always available before the event if I had questions or even letting me know a few weeks before that the napkins and napkin rings we were thinking of using didn't seem to go well. We had decided on these items separately at first. She gave me photographs of different options so I could see which way to change them to. On the day of my event I was doing most of the set up myself and my venue site was giving tours of all the things I was setting up and not getting things moved and set up the way we had agreed on prior. Chef Cassie came in to help deal with them on set up and even let me know when an employee of the venue was sticking dirty hands in the ice we were going to use for the water station. I gave her money and she ran out and got fresh ice. Her staff was amazing during my entire event and by far the only hired people that day who made it excellent and worry free. Don't look at other catering companies just use this one. It may not seem all glammed up as some but by far one of the most professional caterers I have ever worked with. read more

While wedding planning, we were referred to Cassie by my best friend, who is in the wedding business herself. She had been to several of Cassie's events and spoke very highly of her. We were looking for a caterer who could provide excellent service, delicious food and professionalism, without charging an absolute fortune. My father is a retired chef, so the food had to pass his taste test as well! Although we live out of state, the interactions with Cassie went very well. She was great at returning phone calls and emails promptly, and always answered all of our questions thoroughly. Planning a wedding from 1,000 miles away is complicated to say the least, but Cassie never made it seem that way. She took care of all of the rentals (tables, chairs, linens...I'm probably forgetting something). She has her own rental equipment, which keeps prices reasonable and means everything is there on time. We had a lovely tasting at her family's vineyard property in the beautiful hills of North County. Because I got the address mixed up, we had to reschedule at the last minute, and Cassie's lovely assistant, Blanca, was our hostess. My parents and I enjoyed a 5 star meal in a beautiful tasting room, along with glitter-covered chocolate truffles for dessert! We decided on a tasty beef with a red wine sauce and chicken picata. Both dishes tasted amazing at the tasting and at our wedding. Our sides included decadent twice-baked mashed potatoes. We were very busy taking pictures during our cocktail hour,but I'll never forget the mini fish taco appetizers that my new sister-in-law slipped me in between photographs! Our tables looked so beautiful! Cassie's linens were the perfect colors....I'll never forget looking out at our reception area from my little bridal room where I was getting ready. I hired Cassie and her team for a work function. This was a huge product launch for us, the biggest ever in fact, so this event was extremely important. We flew in customers from all over to attend back to back events. I basically told Cassie my budget and she ran with it. We decided on heavy appetizers and desserts. The appetizers were creative, scrumptious, and fun. The glitter ball chocolates were so much fun - not only did they taste great but glitter was showing up everywhere. I also rented furniture and every piece was just perfect. And the way she decorates the food stations - she complimented my theme seamlessly. I had numerous people comment on the fabulous food and impeccable service. Cassie's team is professional, friendly and truly delightful. Anything But Ordinary Catering prepared the food for our corporate grand opening. The food was so good that it was gone in an hour! My recommendation is don't go light, because people are going to be having more than 5 pieces per person. Cassie was super easy to work with, and her staff was very accommodating. I cannot begin to describe how amazing Chef Cassie and her crew are. My wedding would not have been possible without her. I planned to have my wedding in San Marcos, and I had no idea how I was going to pull it off because I lived in northern California and knew nothing about the area. I wanted to book Anything but Ordinary for the delicious food, but she ended up helping me with everything!! She helped me book my hair stylist, photographer and DJ for my wedding because she knows the area. I seriously could not have done it without her, and her generosity in helping me. She took the time to help me with anything I needed, not just the food and place settings. ( which were beautiful by the way!) I booked her for the food because it is amazing!! I honestly did not think I would have time to eat on my wedding day, but I did! And I remember exactly how amazing everything tasted. For the main dish we had Chicken Mole Marsala, mashed potatoes and asparagus and Marinated Tri-Tip With Chipotle Teriyaki sauce and Pineapple Salsa. It was the most amazing meal I have ever had Oh my goodness! I could not have been happier with my wedding food. We had salad and appetizers as well. The guests STILL talk about the food to this day ( almost 2 years later). Wonderful service from start in April, not easy as still no venues available and catering still under restriction for meeting, etc. They came up with great ideas for my sons wedding rehearsal luncheon. On the day 6/5. They set up on time, the dishes looked great in individual cups (best idea ever) tables looked pretty sprinkled with shells and star fish.
