We ordered delivery to our nearby hotel and had a smooth experience. Food was packaged well for delivery. I had a pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top. I loved the mustard and vinegar bbq sauce! The pork was a little fatty but large portion. Very filling that I didn't feel left hungry after choosing to not order sides. Kids had kid meals-one ribs and one chicken both with Mac and cheese. I ordered take out and the service I received over the phone was great by Jeremy, I think that was his name, who correctly took my order even though they weren't technically open. When I got there Jeremy was the one who assisted me as well and provided a military discount. I ordered 3 plates and we made sure everything was there. I wanted to like the food so bad especially because I was buying the other 2 plates to thank some people. I had the 3 choice plate with ribs, sliced brisket and chicken. The ribs were ok but the chicken was dry and the brisket was as well. The volcano sauce was really good and spicy! That elevated the meats to where it wasn't as dry. For Championship bbq not sure today was the day. I had the mac & cheese and collard greens and both were bland to say the least. I honestly would try it again but next time I would dine in. My friends and I stopped by while we were in the area, and we found Whole Hog to be a solid, casual BBQ spot. Ordering was very convenient - you can either order at the cashier or via a tablet. And the food was delicious. I got the pulled pork platter with potato salad and coleslaw. The pulled pork was nice and tender, and I was especially taken by the potato salad. Definitely my favorite part of the platter. The sauces provided were also quite nice, but the best sauce they offer is the Champion sauce for sure. I've been to this restaurant several times over the past year or so. There's only two BBQ places I go to in this area. Whole Hog is one of them, the other is Sweet Lucy's in North Philly. Whole Hog is a lot more convenient because I live about 10 minutes from the place, and I don't have to pay the bridge toll. I usually order take out. Service is always quick and friendly. Food is really good. I've never had a bad meal from here. I do love their pulled pork and brisket. Ribs are good too. Sides are full of flavor. Their cornbread is probably the best I've had. I'm also a big fan of their Chocolate Chip cookies. Just a suggestion. I've been to the legendary Slows BBQ, while in Detroit for business. They have an apple BBQ sauce that was phenomenal. No one else has anything like it. Maybe the kitchen at Whole Hog can come up with something similar to it, and create their own version? read more

Was planning on doing review today and of course I get the smallest rack of ribs to date from here. I wanted to show a picture of this huge slab you get!!!!!......not today. I usually get a slab of ribs w two sides, potato salad and french fries. I pick up my order and the french fries hit the spot when you are hungry on the way home. The ribs come glazed and look beautiful. Their side sauces are ok. Honestly I like to get my own Sweet Baby Rays sauce, put them in the air fryer to glaze the sauce and heat them up....TRUST ME. The potato salad is plain and sometimes the potatoes are undercooked...I always add salt pepper garlic powder onion powder before I eat it then its perfect. I get extra cornbread. Being single I can make 3+ meals out of this. Honestly havent tried much else. Ive had the wings when a neighbor got them in bulk for a party and they were amazing....unfortunately I ordered a small order and they were dried out and awful.....somebody had them under a heat lamp too long.....I didnt take them back though. Just ok. My son told us how good the food was, but we weren't impressed. The pulled pork had an off taste. For a family order they give you 2 individual condiment sized sauces. I'm sure we could have gotten more but that's unrealistic. My fiancée picked up the order for carry out, confirmed the sauce was in the bag and assumed there were more. Came here around 7:30pm, so they were about to close at 8pm, but allowed for us to take our time to eat in their restaurant. I ordered the Hog Platter to try ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Ribs looked good, but was a little dry or old. The sauce on the meat was average, the sauce options on the table made it better. The beef brisket is good for restaurant quality. It could use a little more savory seasoning, but I was impressed how tender it was and the slices did not fall apart (just like how KCBS competition brisket should be). The pulled pork was the star of the meal. Lots of flavor on the bark and within the meat itself. The tenderness was great, not mushy at all (again, just like KCBS competition meat). And you do not need sauce on the pulled pork. The sides were good; cheesy corn could be sweeter and the chili was very solid and tasty. The corn bread had good flavor, too, but was a little cool when served. The sweet tea was okay, not sweet enough for me, though. I had to add 2 sugar packets for my refill. The 6 sauce selections on the table were standard and good. I would like one sauce to be very hot and spicy. This place is good and I will stick to the pulled pork as the gold standard for a BBQ restaurant. This place knows how to smoke meat, please visit them. read more

My wife and I finally had the chance to check out Whole Hog. It was well worth it! The staff is down to earth and friendly. The restaurant is neat, clean and orderly. The 1st thing that catches your attention is the number of trophies and awards this establishment has won from the cook offs its competed in. I ordered the Hog Platter, 2 meats, (sausage and brisket), 4 rib bones, Mac-n-Cheese, and baked beans with a Sweet Tea. My wife had the same thing. Everything was delicious! The ribs were tender and fall off the bone. The sausage is kielbasa, the type I really like. The brisket was tender and had a nice smokey hint. The ribs have sauce on them, you can add more sauce at your table, there are 6 choices available. Once you place your order, at the counter, you are given a number, have a seat and your order will be brought to your table. Hey maybe I've just been lucky my whole life to have easy access to really good high-quality barbecue, but this was a disappointing experience. The ribs were way too salty and otherwise flavorless. The brisket was pretty good but not really worth the price And the barbecue sauce was way to watery and vinegar'y. And the worst part, I was really stoned with the munchies and it still didn't do much for this food. The service was average and the stale-lookin decor was regrettable. I recommend going to Chili's instead if you're craving baby back ribs. And if you want to really really good stuff go to Reading terminal market in the city. Last night I was feeling hungry and was on on my way to try out Fevzi's Mediterranean Grill in Cherry Hill but decided to try out Whole Hog Cafe instead. I love BBQ food so I figured why not. In comparison to other BBQ restaurants in the area, I thought they were fairly decent. I spent around $17 for a 2 meat platter that came with 2 sides as well and cornbread. I picked sliced brisket (which was tender and juicy) and ribs (they were very small portion size ). For the sides, I picked mac and cheese and collard greens. The collard greens were very bland in flavor and tasted like they were cooked in chicken broth and nothing more. I had to doctor the collard greens to eat them and the mac and cheese was soupy and I ended up not eating them. If you are looking for baked mac and cheese, this is not the place to get them. Their mac and cheese was also bland. Now I love cornbread, but I was disappointed with their cornbread. It was mushy and a little gritty in texture. Overall, I was not pleased with the sides at all. The brisket was the winner for me personally. I also liked that they serve 6 different types of bbq sauces: classic mild, tangy & slight spicy, tangy & spicy, southern vinegar & spice, sweet & bold, and Rich mustard & vinegar. I tried all of the sauces except for sweet & bold because they ran out. My 2 faves were the tangy & slight spicy and tangy & spicy sauces. I give this place a 5 out of 10 and that was because of the brisket. I may return in the future to try other items such as their burnt ends (which was sold out yesterday) and other sides.
