Juneteenth came, and with it, another day spent staring longingly at your darkened windows. I don't imagine you'll ever read this letter, but my heart insists that I write it anyway. Ronnie's... oh, Ronnie's. I was beginning to believe again. I had visions of smoky barbecue, tender pulled pork, and the comfort only your food could bring. But every time I arrived these past months, I was met not with the smell of hickory smoke, but with locked doors and silent parking lots. My hope faded a little more with each visit. When your lights are on, the world feels right. But when I pull into the parking lot and find another "Closed" sign staring back at me, I realize that ours is a love destined to be tested by unfortunate timing. Perhaps fate simply refuses to let us be together. Perhaps I am forever cursed to crave what I cannot have. You've broken my heart more times than I care to admit. And yet, somehow, I know that if I saw your "Open" sign tomorrow, I would come running back without hesitation. Such is the burden of loving great barbecue. So I leave you with this letter--not in anger, but in sorrow. I return to you my appetite, though I suspect it will find its way back the moment your smoker starts up again. No shortcuts of chopping like some places- hand PULLED= less fat, and delicious. With slaw or without. The way Southern BBQ is meant to be. Sauces are vinegar based and solid, though, I wish they would add more heat to the HOT. Now, the other reason to come are Grandma's fried pies. The closest I've ever come to my own Grandma's. Apple, peach, or cherry, they're all good. Downside- for some unknown reason they don't make/serve iced tea. Drinks are a moneymaker, so I don't get that. The commercial drink box outside doesn't cut it.

The thin crust was great, though the sauce and toppings could have used a little more flavor. Still, a good pizza. My wife had the gluten-free Margherita Pizza. The crust wasn't very good. She' had many gluten-free pizzas, and admittedly it is difficult to make a good gluten-free pizza crust and it is great that they at least offer this option. She wouldn't get this one again though. She was happy with the toppings, just not the crust. We had a good experience overall, and other than the gluten-free crust the pizza was good. If you like thin-crust pizza Zander's is definitely worth a try.

I tried a few of the beers--one on tap (a homestyle IPA) and a couple in cans, the best of which was a caramel machiatto stout which I loved (pictured here). My wife prefers cocktails and/or wine, so she had one of each. We also had the salted pretzel. Prices are very fair, the beer selection is enormous, and my wife appreciated the numerous cocktail, well drink, and wine options. I saw many tables dining on pizza and pub food that all looked terrific, so the next time we're here we'll have the entire meal here. Friendly service, free parking on the street, and an overall great atmosphere.
