Today I received from Dr. Woon (and Victoria) what I think is probably the most thorough eye exam I've ever had in my life. She was patient, she explained everything to me, she listened to every piece of information I gave her and folded it in. She explained to me about the occipital nerve and the stretches that I can do and also what kind of pillow I should use! So if her mother is reading this, I want to just say one thing, no she didn't save my life but she did reassure me that I wasn't losing my eyesight and that is plenty good . She's terrific. I did a lot of leg work before selecting Whitsett Vision for my cataract surgery and I am glad I did. Dr. Zaina Al-Mohtaseb helped me work through the process to get my eyes properly measured for lenses, helped me understand the different options and delivered amazing results in the end. The whole process took time, but was well worth the wait. I had the adjustable lens put in and Dr. Woon also took the time needed to get my lens dialed in for my personal needs. Zero customer service, left messages for 4 days with no return calls, left message for office manager and still no return call. This was to schedule cataract surgery. Paying $8,400 alone just for the lenses. If they are this unresponsive before surgery I am sure afterwards they would really ghost me. I am searching for another provider that actually cares about the patient. Dr. Whitsett did my Lasik, which I have been extremely happy with thus far. I would say, though that his staff is less impressive at the Katy location. I made a mistake having my cataract done by Jeff Whitsett. The first visit was in time and he was patient explaining the process. He did not show up for the third and fourth follow up visits and I was seen by different doctors each time. I had to wait two hours to see him on the fifth visit. He finally showed up. He said to go back to him in a month. I asked him if I have to wait two hours again. His response was yes. I'm not going back there ever. I had a great experience with Lasik at Whitsett vision. Starting from the Lasik consultation everyone I met at Whitsett vision was very knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. I was so nervous to get lasik and I felt like my fears and questions were addressed in a very understanding and compassionate way. Dr. McKey did my lasik and the procedure really was easy and painless. My vision had already improved close to 20/20 at my follow up appointment the next day. Now, almost 4 months later I have perfect 20/20 vision and have had no problems or side effects after Lasik. I got a procedure back in September of 2023 for my degenerative eye condition. The surgeon was great, and the process went smoothly, as did the follow-up visits. Fast forward to now, and I called on 12/19 due to my insurance letting me know there was a discrepancy with my billing. I called the billing department with insurance on the phone and was greeted by Debbie in billing. As I explained the situation with the insurance on the phone while speaking with Debbie in billing, she quickly deflected and stated she couldn't answer our question due to her manager not being present. I asked Debbie if the billing supervisor was the only one to speak with regarding the critical matter. Debbie responded, "You can't wait until tomorrow"? I then responded and said, "No, I can't." Debbie then placed the insurance agent and me on a long hold to come back and state that she spoke with the operations manager, but no one could answer the question until 12/20. At 8 AM on 12/20, Shellie, the billing manager, called and was extremely hostile and stated that I was not owed a refund because I signed a waiver. I needed clarification on the approach and the tone, and I asked for a breakdown of the charges to ensure everything was in place. As I started explaining the background of the costs, Shellie interrupted me and stated, "If you have all the answers, why am I on the phone?". I then let the billing manager, Shellie, know that her speaking to me that way would not be accepted and asked for a manager. Shellie proceeded to tell me that "she heard that I yelled at everyone that I spoke to yesterday." I informed her that I felt as if she was attacking my character and painting an angry black woman picture because my voice was not raised. I let her know that I did know how to conduct myself in conversation. I once again asked for the manager's name, and Shellie gave me the wrong number and threatened to hang up the phone in my face too. I called the number she provided and received a rude answer from the front desk staff. I asked to speak with Dave, and Shahliq came to the line and said she was a manager. I explained the situation. She then said, "If that occurred, then it shouldn't have." I let her know there are no "ifs" about the situation because that is what happened. She took my information and said she would call me back in half an hour. Two hours passed, and I have not received communication from Shaliq. I called back to get placed on another 20-minute hold and speak with the operations manager, Monica. I told Monica who I was, and she immediately told me, " I am not due for a refund," when she came on the phone. As I told the previous representative, I sought an understanding and itemized receipt with a breakdown of all the charges. I then stated that my problem was with the billing manager, Shellie, and the hostile, racist environment that she created during a simple follow-up conversation. I expressed my discomfort about attending the practice. Monica, the Operations Manager, stated that she has been friends with Shellie, Debbie, and Shahliq for a long time and hopes they aren't racist. I told her that I didn't feel comfortable with her having a conversation to ensure that this wouldn't happen again because of the close nature of their relationship. She stated that there was nothing that she could do about that, and I informed her that I would be filing a complaint. read more

Can't say enough good things about the doctors who work here. I was absolutely terrified of having lasik eye surgery- not to mention that I have general anxiety and panic attacks, but Dr. Mckeeassured me everything would be fine all the way though. He worked with me with my anxiety medications and cheered me on through the whole surgery, honestly could not have done it without him. Afterwards, I was shocked that I had absolutely no pain and discomfort just tired eyes so I slept most of the day. Now I can see and I am so happy I finally did it! Just thought it was promotional talk, but I have had the opportunity to use two of his preferred companies, and I am amazed at the service I received! I can't even begin to say how much I love and appreciate Dr. Woon. I have a rare neurological condition and went through a plethora of rude and/or incompent Drs before I found her. She really listens and works with you to get a treatment plan that works. She has a specialty in neuro-optomology, but she treats my mom for regular vision checkups and issues. Saw Dr. Woon as an emergency referral, blown away by the professional staff, the uber cleanliness encountered and the positive upbeat help with her assistant, Christie. No nonsense, the facts of what a treatment plan needed to be was not diagosed with concussion or TBI as other docs had done. Shot my head full of steroids, not a panacea yet, but will continue to see her until the headaches are gone permanently. Confident in her treatmen and I don't say that lightly after the past two weeks from hell. She is aware that I don't have vision insurance and is working on getting billing run through BC/BS, fingers crossed. Jess McKey, MD, was my ophthalmologist/surgeon for bilateral cataract surgery, the second eye surgery being one week after the first surgery. First of all, I was astounded how professional, warm and genuinely caring Dr McKey was all through the process. I have been involved with the medical profession in a university setting my entire life and this group is outstanding! Efficient, honest and always on time. A real treat; but the best part was the outcome which, if I'd known how pain-free and how wonderful the colors appeared even the next day were, I would have been there a lot sooner. I needed a cataract surgeon and used Angie's list, which had served me well for electrical and plumbing work, but my experience with my cataract surgeon has been a nightmare. In writing this review I hope I can spare others from the consequences of using Dr. Whitsitt as a surgeon. I needed a cataract surgeon for congenital cataracts that made it close to impossible to pass a DMV test at age 58. I had the cataract surgery with Dr. Whitsett and it was the worst surgery I have ever experienced. I have had a double mastectomy, spinal laminectomies, hysterectomy, gallbladder removal, etc but this was the most unpleasant surgery ever. (When I mentioned this to Dr. Whitsell he was angry - not sympathetic. They would not sedate me sufficiently so I experienced pain and anxiety throughout. In the next few hours I was in a lot of pain and could not see to read or even watch TV. At my 1 day follow up I had my eyes tested and when Dr. Whitsett saw the results he said "That can't be right!" But it was. I had a surgically induced astigmatism that was not there before my surgery. He said "You're young - maybe it will heal" and walked out of the room. A month later, there was no change. Dr. Fu said my vision is stable and will not get better. I have terrible headaches (never had them before), no depth perception (stairs are a nightmare), can't read or view my computer monitor without covering my surgical eye. They said see you in two months!!!!! I am so disgusted with this practice. From now on I will only rely on friend's recommendations, not Angie's list for Medical referrals. read more

I liked the results (20/20 vision) so much, I gave my kids lasix for graduation. No more glasses or contacts for us. Eight years later, just had my check up and my eyes are still great. It was late in the afternoon when I discovered I had a very dangerous virus in my eye. My primary care MD called this group, and they fit me into their day without hesitation. check other dr, that do this ,dr whitset talked me into a dual lens replacement in one eye , he said all will be fine and he would be with me all the way.well i started seeing halos all around the red tail lights at night and starburst from the headlights coming at me as well ,he acted like i was ceazy and got very arrogant, i told him to take it out.he did not want to he said i should live with it.he said if he took it out is was not reccomending it ,and that i would have 20/40 vision at best. and i PAID HIM$5000.00 cash if if he put the single lens in he wanted to charge me another $1000.00 to rent out the surgery center he uses .he does not only have his own surgury center! i knew he was lying on several of his statements,i lost all credibility with whitset. went to berkley had it re-done and all is much better, now. 20/20 vision and no halos ! i wasted 5000.00 dollars at whitset plz you dont do this to yourself money is hard to make and throw away like i did going to whitset !!!! read more
