I just got LASEK done today! Dr. Richard Yee is by far professional, picky, thorough, and cares about his patients! I was scared and nervous all at the same time, but I knew that Dr. Yee has such an extensive background in his training and he doesn't slack off in any means. I've never spent so much time with a doctor, and he made sure that he was always there to explain the procedure and all the details of what would happen for my recovery. I am so glad that I met the perfect doctor to correct my vision that I've lost for over 22 years of my life. I have severe dry eye disease and was optimistic that Dr. Yee could help me. Unfortunately, it was a bizarre and weird experience. Here's why: 1. His staff seemed to be all interns of some kind. Two of the young men running the eye exam machines said that they were "students from China working here for the summer." They were nice but didn't speak great English. During my second visit the following month, the staff (including the receptionist) were a complete new set of interns. Nice but very green folks. 2. Dr. Yee prescribed "Spironolactone eye drops" for me which he said that he had formulated and could only be bought at a compounding pharmacy for $60/10 ml bottle. They did me no good. 3. Dr. Yee cauterized my tear ducts but those opened right back up the following day. I later realized that I was glad about this as having plugged up ducts would have left my eyes swimming in dirty tear water. 4. No one ever answers the phone at this office! Seriously. The day after leaving my 2nd appointment, I needed to ask Dr. Yee a question. No one would answer the office phone. 4 days later they called me back and left a VM but when I returned the call, no answer again so I was back to chasing them by phone! Very aggravating. There were also no responses to emails or messages to Dr. Yee's website. 5. He wanted to try "probing" (ie. sticking needles) to open up my clogged eye oil glands. Fortunately, all of that weird office stuff made me realize that this was not the place where I ever could feel taken care of. In short, I wasted 1 1/2 months with Dr. Yee as my dry eyes got progressively got worse. If you have dry eye, please consider going to a reputable eye doctor. I was a victim of the after affects of Lasik surgery . Pain in my eyes chronic dry eyes You name it. I thought that life as I knew it was over . I have been treated by many physicians in my 80 years of life and Dr. Yee is without question one of the very best. Not only is he highly competent, he truly cares about his patients. He gave me his personal cell phone number at my first visit and encouraged me to contact him at any time. I have seen him on more than one occasion, come to the waiting room and ask the people there if they had been helped. Many of his patients must have someone take them to his clinic and he personally thanks them for doing that. The eye doctors at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center sent me to Dr. Yee after their attempts to heal my radiation damaged cornea failed. I was in imminent danger of losing my eye. Dr. Yee not only saved my eye, he also saved much of my vision. I am eternally grateful to him and highly recommend him to anyone with eye problems. I have been seeing Dr. Yee for the past 6 months for severe dry eyes and MGD. In 6 months, after using his eye drops that he developed himself, cauterizing my tear ducts closed, having the MGD probing and lastly getting my sclera lenses, I can honestly say that my future is optimistic. I don't go anywhere without my lenses. For my first fitting for my lenses, he met me at his office on Christmas Eve when his office wasn't even opened. Dr. Yee never gives up. Dr Yee is incredible. I have severe dry eye disease (DED) and was referred to Dr Yee because he has a substantial DED clinic and he has the absolutely latest and most up to date equipment, medications, and knowledge to treat this condition (LipiFlow/Lipiview, he does meibomian gland probing, he can fit you for scleral contact lenses etc). His DED examinations are thorough and he takes a lot of time for each patient without rushing through the examination. He also works with a compounding pharmacy to create new eye drops that can't be obtained elsewhere. Very cutting edge. And the best of all...he is very pleasant. I initially went to Dr. Yee for dry eye treatment after finding him on yelp. His treatment was by far the MOST comprehensive eye exam I have ever had. I did not wait long to be seen and even though I had a few tests done, Dr. Yee still took his time to exam me and review all of the findings. His approach to dry eyes was different than the typical solution of just applying eye drops and I was glad to hear he already had other potential solutions lined up if our current treatment did not provide the relief I needed. Not only is Dr. Richard Yee one of the nation's most brilliantly skilled and academic ophthalmologists, he is state of the art in his practice. After suffering with watery eyes, puffy eyelids, and swelling and tenderness around the eyes for years, I consulted him. He initially recommended some eye exercises and drops to stimulate meibomian gland (tear producing system) function. He also offered IPL (intense pulsed light) treatment to help enhance circulation and reduce occlusion in the meibomian glands. IPL worked instantly on my problem. Not only did all the symptoms resolve to the point that I no longer need eyedrops, the tissue became firmer, younger looking and stronger. I really was amazed! IPL stimulates collagen production and reduces discoloration of the skin. Dr. Yee's procedure is without pain and involves no downtime, no irritation whatsoever, and takes less than 30 minutes. Results last for months. In two years, I have had four treatments and could not be more satisfied. IPL can even be done to the entire face and neck to reduce wrinkles, remove discoloration and stimulate collagen. Dr. Richard Yee is one of the most genuine and genius doctors! A very forward looking doctor who cured my corneal ulcer, allergic dry eye and chalazion (stye ) problem that I suffered for almost 2 years! In past two years 6 different doctors tried to treat me , but failed! One even said that "may be you are prone to this, can't help it" . I am so fortunate that I came across Dr. Yee. When I went to him, my vision was extremely blurred , 20/70 , constant pain, redness, sensitivity to sunlight , tearing and styes!
