I finally got to visit the local Instagrammer's Paradise. That is exactly what it is. I don't even know why someone would bother reading reviews for Whitney's when the whole point of this place is how it looks. If you need to know more after flipping through the photos, these tidbits may be helpful: -limited parking adjacent (but plenty nearby) -restrooms are outside -happy hour from 3pm-5pm -very limited menu (dining with picky eaters? they gotta check that menu first) -fabu frose -very pricey (to match how ~oh so vibey~) Of course you go to Whitney's for the atmosphere. It is painfully lovely. If I went to design school as an 8 year old this would probably be exactly what I came up with. There is a lot of pink, a lot of plants, and even a fire pit. Went here for dinner called and was told there was no wait. Got there we gave our name to the young lady that greeted us and was told the wait was 1/2 and hour. Went to the bar to order a drink. The bar tender ignored us for about 10 minutes, before gracing us with his service. After waiting an hour I approached the person that greeted and asked her where we were on the list as parties of equal size that came in after us had been seated. The response was "I don't keep the list". Checked with the manager and we weren't on the list. The young lady lied and said she didn't take our name and the manager became defensive. Super cute design and a wonderful staff! The atmosphere has to be totally vining on a night when it's warm enough to enjoy the outdoor space. The menu is small, but the selections are nice. We shared quite a few plates. I think I enjoyed the shrimp salad most. I very much enjoyed their frose (even on a cold night). Shrimp Louie was okay, but nothing special. Snapper was cooked well and tasty, but the rice was a bit too bland. Overall the food was a 4/5. The main reason for one less star was that it took 70mins to get the food, because after 60mins (after we inquiried about the food) we were told the order was lost. I've been dying to eat at Whitney's since they opened but never found the right moment when coming home to visit. This week was just perfect and my mother and I headed over for an early dinner. Walking in, the aesthetics of the place are spectacular. Now, I'm a sucker for turquoise and terracotta but the vintage Miami vibe and tile work really had me. It's beautiful, chill, and perfect. I was gushing. Sitting down, service was fantastic and COVID conscious. I felt pampered and catered too, all while never being annoyed with check-ins or surrounded by others. The menu is slightly pricey but fair. The food is absolutely delicious and well portioned. I cannot recommend their fish options enough and OMG THE DONUTS. Get them. Take a look at the photos! What is happening at Whitney's this used to be a fun spot for a tasty meal but we're giving up on it. Five of us went to Sunday brunch. The food took 40 minutes to arrive (no apologies were offered). Avocado and egg toast was weird and disappointing - a toast with an egg in a small circle cut out of the toast, with a small scoop of avocado on a toast corner. Not satisfying. The banana French toast was tasty. Chicken sandwich and chicken tenders were tasteless and the fries were cold. We tried brunch thinking it might redeem the last couple of mediocre dinners we had at Whitney's but it was a bust. This place is so cute and promising, great vibe and and nice fire pit at night, live music some days. First let me describe the setup. This is an old mid century gas station, converted into a casual restaurant. Everything about the atmosphere is stylish and cool. From the covered outside seating to the great landscaping around the property, the entire place is fun and relaxing. The food is absolutely as great as the atmosphere. We started out with the Manhattan seafood chowder and some guacamole. I don't usually like tomato based soups but this was excellent as was the guac. We ordered a Reuben which was absolutely fantastic and a quinoa bowl with grouper and shrimp which was equally great. For desert I had to try the ricotta doughnut balls (my name not theirs). These were amazing. Whitney's offers a nice array of drinks. From Margaritas to Bloody Marys (awesome) to much more. They also offer a decent selection of wines and a reasonably good beer list. I can't overstate how much we enjoyed our lunch at Whitney's. I can say for certain that I will be back. read more

What happened to this place? We came on a date in which it had rained AFTER the rain stopped. They closed the outdoor completely. The picture attached shows the well covered outdoor seating. Yes the staff actually told customers to WAIT for a table, while the entire outdoor covered section sat empty. It was an absolute joke. No rain on the forecast for the rest of the night but still they insisted on no outdoor seating. It was sad how they didn't care about the success of the business. If you have customers and empty table you seat them! And they can't use the weather as an excuse as like I mentioned the forecast specifically said no more rain. I know hospitality is hurting but these people need to get their act together! They changed staff dramatically. Some of the servers are nice but the new host is not very friendly, and we've been multiple times. Food has always been sub par. And they had issues conveying their hours of operation. Went once and there was a literal piece of paper written in highlighter taped to the glass door stating they are closed on Friday and Saturday nights. It's such a cool location and great concept. But for mediocre food--the staff should be amazing and the hours of operation should be consistent, and the very least well communicated. And offer things like ice cream, it's a no brainer. Menu is just too oddly specific. Imagine if they focused on a smaller menu with delicious items. Instead it's just a weird menu with very mediocre quality ingredients and half-assed in the kitchen. We are genuinely worried that the owners are going to lose this place if they don't get their act together! I'm sorry because w really love what the owners vision is. We also LOVE when they have live music. But these people must get their act together! The owners need to get more hands on. Love this place! Stumbled upon it accidentally, and man I was so happy that we did! First off, the design aesthetic here is amazing. Every detail has been beautifully thought out, creating a lush, peaceful but fun environment to eat, drinks and socialize. Then there's the food. Dang!! They There's so many different types of dishes, and constantly rotate their menu, and there has never been something I wasn't impressed by. The octopus is phenomenal, the tacos are delicious, their ceviche is super refreshing, the donuts are super good... literally everything is great and their frose is to die for. We've become regulars at this place, going almost every week. I love seeing what new recipes or touches they've added to their experience. They constantly keep improving and I LOVE to see this. They advertise happy hour and it was on their hanging boards, but when we inquired with our server about what was on happy hour (it said tacos and beer) he said something off the top of his head which equated to you can get the same things for the same price or half for half price....and bud light for $4 (the price on the regular menu for bud light) and cheaper chips and guacamole. Huh? My margarita was good. My husband returned his bourbon drink which was made with Evan Williams (he requested to know before the drink was brought out but was informed when the drink was brought out). Fish tacos were yummy! Side of roasted Brussels was good also. Fish sandwich was great with fries. Key lime pie had way too much whipped cream. Good food, average drinks and dessert, friendly service, zero happy hour. Very cold, 50's style diner. The decor is the pale green and white types of the 50's. Everything is order at the counter like a fast food place, but the food is NO FAST FOOD PLACE! I had the burrito which was Great! The outside was toasted or fired, not sure which, but more crusty like a chimichanga. Loved it! My wife had fish tacos. They looked fabulous. My wife liked them, but felt there could have been more fish in them I ordered a side of guacamole which is made fresh there. It was fabulous! A laid back atmosphere with indoor outdoor dining, good coffee, food, and adult beverages, this has been an element sorely missing from LBK in the past. My party started with chips and guacamole, which were very ordinary. My sister and I split the LBK Bowl and the steak sandwich. The bowl was really delicious with fresh fish and a delicious salsa verde, though we found the steak to be a little lacking in flavor. The drinks are great here; there's a broad selection of alcoholic and other beverages that are unique. Like a phoenix rising out of the ashes is this new Jewel on the north end of Longboat Key. Once a neglected 1950s automotive service station Whitneys is now A trendy, clean, convenient eat in or take out food service establishment with a complement of beer and wines. There's also convenience items that you need for the home, see photos. The inside seats about 35 or 40 bucks comfortably and there is also another 30 or so outside. Although I have not experienced it yet the fire pit at night is quite attractive and the seats around look comfortable. I have been watching them from the beginning In the rehabilitation of this nasty old gas station and what they have created is exceptional and a real complement to the village area. I wrote this review while waiting for my breakfast burrito got to say the 10 minute wait was well worth it my burrito which came with fresh salsa and a spicy salsa verde, so good my plate is completely clean. Good food, good service, live entertainment (keyboardist) on a Saturday night, perfect outside seating. This was a great dinner choice and worth the drive south to Longboat Key (really not far at all). I'd probably give these folks 4.5 stars if I could. As beach venues go, it was a winner. First thing I'll mention is the parking. Although it appears they have little parking up front, they do have a quite a bit of parking around the back. Just follow the side street that runs behind the restaurant (see signs) for plenty of parking in back. We arrived later (7:40) on a Saturday night on a 3-day weekend (MLK) which is a recipe for disaster. Fortunately they did have seating for two outside in the garden courtyard lit with nice strings of large white lights. This is on gravel and the tables are set up under a huge gorgeous tree. Tell the kids to look closely for the stuffed animals hiding in the tree limbs! Since it was Saturday night, they had a keyboard player from Missouri outside singing an interesting collection ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughn to Meat Loaf (may he rest in peace....I've never heard a keyboardist play Meat Loaf but as we departed that was what he was playing....ominous as this apparently was right before Meat Loaf passed). It was a nice treat to have live music and get a table on a Saturday night with no wait. The music was also not too loud so my husband and I could still carry on a conversation. The folks inside were missing out (probably could not tell he was singing Meat Loaf). We tipped the keyboardist well before the poor guy headed back to the winters of Missouri. Not sure why people choose to willingly leave sunny Florida? This restaurant is fresh and new (built in 2019?). All of the staff here are young and flush with enthusiasm and a good healthy attitude, clearly eager to please. Our waitress was quite busy but did her best. We were greeted promptly and our drink orders were taken. My only complaint was how long it took to get our drinks (bar was probably backed up). Small note, I was mistakenly given a lunch menu. When I noticed french toast on a dinner menu, I commented to my husband (who looked at me strangely because HIS menu didn't have french toast on it). The waitress apologized and we all had a good laugh (no they don't serve french toast at dinner time:). I ordered the fresh local snapper and would venture to say it was some of the best snapper I've had (I always order snapper if they say it is local), probably caught that week. My husband (as usual) had a bacon burger. He is allergic to cheese and we crossed our fingers they would get it right (which they did!). His burgers are plain and dry so it is obvious if they don't use much seasoning. He said his burger was good but just average. The chef didn't use much to season the meat (typical....most rely on the toppings for the flavor). This venue is lovely and the outside courtyard seating was preferable to me despite it being a cold night (we had jackets). Note: since this is right on the main road, I expect it could be noisy from traffic sounds at the height of the day. Late at night, traffic was minimal. I'm not sure about wheelchair access through the gravel? Also, the chairs outside are probably not as comfortable as the inside cushy booth seating. Lastly, be sure to check out the outside fire pit if you can. It looked inviting but there was a large party monopolizing it (probably waiting for an inside table) so we'll check it out another time. Walked in and sat outside. We waiting for someone to clean the table. They cleaned it quickly. We sat down and waited for a server. And waited. And waited. No one came. After twenty minutes we just thought it was amusing at this point. We waited 28 minutes and still no one greeted us. Unreal. We left. Sadly, we just moved here but we won't ever return. read more

I'm from NYC but my brother lives in Bradenton. Every time I visit I'm always on the hunt for good food, but it's not easy in this area. Whitney's really impressed me. It felt like the quality of food and experience I'd get in the city. The vibe was ambient, relaxed, and fun all at the same time. They had live music and a lounge area that created the exact type of atmosphere I want to eat in. The food was all to die for. We tried many things on the menu and our whole party loved the quality and flavors. It was exactly the kind of dining experience I've always wanted to find in this area. Not a good experience. Called before we went to confirm that they had the LBK bowl. Was told they did so we decided to go. Literally one hour later. When we order we ordered said LBK bowl. We're told they didn't have it. Ordered guacamole, and was told they were out. Mid way through the meal, we started seeing others being served guacamole. When we asked we were told "yep, we have it now". (Like 15 minutes after we had ordered it). Didn't ask if we would like some, nothing. Just went about her business. Additionally, we left a pair of sunglasses on our table. Called all the next day and nobody ever answered. Like ALL day. (No, they weren't closed). Left a message with my number, nobody ever called.
