Another stay another great time. We were treated so nicely by every single person we interacted with during our stay. Great restaurant and bar on the ground level. Level 2 has a rock climbing experience for those that are not afraid of heights. Have fun! Our room was large and well equipped. A fridge plus a safe are nice to have. AC kept the temperature where we like it and the curtains kept it dark late into morning. It was also quiet day and night. A giant plus for us is the dog friendly policy, awesome. We have already booked a stay for us and family during Hot August Nights to better take in the action without having to drive. You might think about that. read more

The staff here are exceptional--some of the friendliest I've experienced at any Hilton property. The rooms are very clean, and the hotel overall is quiet and comfortable. The bed was a little firmer than I prefer, but that's just a personal preference. Parking isn't too far away, though the presence of some homeless individuals nearby may make valet parking a more appealing option for some guests. The restaurant at this location also provides excellent service. I only stopped in for a drink this time, but based on the experience I'll definitely be trying the food on my next visit. Overall, this has become my favorite hotel I've found in the Reno area. read more

We decided to stay here again this year because we had tickets for bull riding at the Reno events center. Then we could just walk the 2 blocks no issues with parking, etc Our room had a great view of the north side of Reno. The bed is comfy. We enjoyed the large tv and refrigerator, too. We could use another outlet on the other side of the bed. One side has the clock with plenty of ports and outlets. The other side, meh. The water pressure in the shower wasn't the good at all but the temperature was perfect, so I adjusted the shower to pulsing and it helped. The front desk had some technical difficulties while checking in but both clerks were polite. Sidney checked in with us via text and helped when our key wouldn't open the Club Lounge. Next time we want to take advantage of the fitness center. There is a restaurant on site and plenty to choose from in the neighborhood. A nice staycation. read more

Stayed at the Whitney Peak Hotel for work and overall had a great experience. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the darker walls and decor made it easy to relax and get good sleep. You can tell the hotel puts a lot of effort into keeping the property clean and well maintained. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because the front desk informed us that restaurant purchases would qualify for credits since our work covered the room. Unfortunately, that was not true! the card had to be attached to the room and the charges billed directly to it. That was definitely disappointing. That being said, the food was really good and the overall stay was enjoyable. I would absolutely stay here again for work or business travel. read more

My second stay here. I immediately realized I just lost my diamond status and so the nice perks were gone. Had it for years and immediately no love from the hotel. No free parking (which is across the street, but only costs $7), nor executive lounge. Total bummer. I still made it work and used my F&B credit at the HH, which was great! My stay at the Whitney was an overall good experience, but there seemed to be a lack of staff at the front. It ended up taking almost thirty minutes to check-in with their being only one person working the entire desk. Now throw in an airplane crew who just arrived, current hotel guests needing assistance, and people trying to check-in or out, and it was a recipe for a mess. The whole time the front person was apologetic but kept calling out for the other person to come back to the desk. It was a bit odd for the whole scenario. The hotel itself though is adjacent to a few casinos and is smack dab next to the iconic Reno arch (perfect for photos). It was nice to see how walkable it was to the river and other neighborhoods. If you were in need of a libation or a full meal they had a massive restaurant and bar that was adjacent to the hotel. For those who are Gold+ members with Hilton you were even able to use your F&B credit here which was nice. The staff at the bar were super friendly. My room was quite spacious overall although the bathroom was a bit smaller that one would hope. The bed itself was super comfy though and I appreciated how chilly the room could get for one's preference. My favorite bit was the little window nook that had a slight curvature a gave a very mini panoramic view. All in all, I'm sure I'll be back. read more

I had to come back and review the event staff and 3rd floor venue space. I held my daughter's 15th birthday here and it was perfect. I was able to customize a menu and everything turned out better than I expected. Allie and Carlie, very responsive and helpful and so was everyone else on the catering and service team. Our stay was good! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. Parking is located across the street, which was convenient. My recent experience was much different than my stay 10 years ago. The A/C unit was almost as loud as being on an airplane so I needed ear plugs to try to drown out the noise. It would have been nice if they spread guests out because we were next door to someone who kept coming in and out all night and morning. Their door needed grease because it was creaking and banging every time it closed. I could hear it through the ear plugs. The water pressure in the shower was weak and the hot water could have been warmer. The worst part was the smell of marijuana all night. The hallway to the room smelled like that and then the room would get indundated with the smell every 20 minutes or so. Whenever I drifted off, a strong whiff of it would come through again. It probably lasted until 4:00 am. I will never stay here again. read more

Could have been a great stay. Hotel has a good location, updated, spacious rooms, and is mid price range. Parking is self or valet. We chose self as we didn't need in/out access. There is an executive lounge. I have no experience with it because the guy at check in said it was only open during happy hour for drinks. Not true. It's open in the morning too. There is an actual piece of paper that talks about it that I was never provided. So we wasted money on drinks in the restaurant when those in the lounge would have been complimentary. I have an annual lounge pass for Hilton. I have Diamond status with Hilton and couldn't believe how stingy this staff is with upgrades. This tier is supposed to receive an upgrade and there was availability in every category. Had to text and call and was told they only offer paid upgrades. Greedy and doesn't honor loyalty benefits. Not fun to beg for a "perk" that is given automatically by most other properties. Wouldn't stay here again based on uninformed, unfriendly staff and poor treatment of loyal members. read more

The best thing about this hotel is the location since it is smack-dab in the middle of the city. It is connected to the RENO sign and you can see it from the hotel itself. The restaurant is expensive and I do not recommend the wings at all. They are not crispy and pretty flavorless. The guest laundry is crappy as hell and does not work even. If you pay the amount. I was still not reimbursed for the 7 dollars I used in the machine. It kept cutting off at 6 minutes into the drying cycle. read more

Whitney Peak is a good option for a non-casino hotel in Reno. The location is convenient (right next to the arch! and walking distance to the river). The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, the decor fits the theme, and the climbing gym is over-the-top unique. Hotel guests get a discounted rate to climb (but I don't think it comes with any gear or instruction). There are a few small things they could improve that would easily take them to a 5 star: -More intuitive temperature setting (my room didn't go much above 62 degrees which is pretty chilly) -Attention to detail in the furnishings (for example: the bedside lamps are outside of arm's reach, the chair was facing the dresser, the hallway decorative lights were different temperatures) I only stayed two nights. I did not have a car so I can't speak to parking. I did not bring my dog though they are pet-friendly. I felt safe in the neighborhood. I got breakfast at Cafe Whitney and enjoyed it (separate review to come). read more

Isaiah and Joseph were amazing!!! Very helpful and kind ! We brought our two dogs and they loved the stay! Amazing service. Cleanly. And you're getting what you pay for! I will be returning! I will mention there was a lady in the lobby with her small dog with no leash and a woman at the front desk who did not mention their leash policy. Walking by with my dogs and my big dog doesn't like other dogs so I had to step in between the two dogs. Super easy to get to and centrally located to most things downtown. I'm not sure if it's a plus or minus there was no gambling here but it was nice not having all the outside people that come with gambling so I guess it was a plus for the most part. Check in was easy and fast for me. I did notice the desk people treating others like it was some expensive and high class place they were lucky to be at but they treated me fine. There's a reataraunt and bar on site which was helpful. Lots of TV's and the place was nicely decorated. Room was decent size. Everything was pretty clean and neat and in good working order. The AC was loud and hard to get to the desired temp so I just ended up turning it completely off. Shower was hot and towels were big and soft. The gym was pretty lame but I'm thankful there was one and I did get to squeeze in a couple workouts with what they had. There is a big climbing gym there that was pretty cool if you're into that. Location was central downtown so it was easy to get to the other hotels, casinos and Reno event center. read more

This review is for the room only as we didn't eat there or use any of the other amenities. We arrived with 3 other couples after a long drive from AZ, we came to Reno for a concert. NOTE: This is a non-smoking hotel, which we loved but I know many others would not appreciate! We all used the digital check-in so our rooms were ready when we arrived. My one complaint & ironically it happened at the 2nd hotel we stay at...our digital key didn't work so I had to go downstairs to get a real room key. The desk was great, it was a Saturday night & there were two clerks working. The lobby is really pretty & they have water there which was nice. The bonus that I really appreciated is in the "lobby" of each floor is a water dispenser created to fill your water bottles, what a nice perk! Our room was very nice, roomy, clean. My only complaint, being a reader I can appreciate a comfy chair - I liked the little corner nook where the chair was placed but the chair was one of the most uncomfortable that I've ever sat in in a hotel room...I doubt that anyone ever tried them out before ordering them...I know, a dumb complaint but I'm not one to "lounge" on the bed for hours while reading. The location was perfect & the unloading area in front of the lobby was quite large so a few vehicles can comfortably load & unload at the same time. The bellmen/valet were plentiful & always held the doors open. The parking is kiddie corner from the hotel in a parking garage so if you have a disability, it would be much more convenient to use valet, otherwise, once you've unloaded your luggage, it's not that far to walk back after parking. This hotel does NOT have a casino but there are a number of hotels within walking distance, specifically, right across the street is the El Dorado which has a quite large casino, a Starbucks & several restaurants. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance & the river walk is just several blocks away. We toured the National Auto Museum & even us women enjoyed it, it's the most extensive one we've ever been to & we were in there for at least an hour, it's worth the $15 fee. We were only in town for a full day so we didn't have much time to explore much more than that before checking out. I would not hesitate to stay here again, very nice & convenient to so many other things to do downtown. read more

They have the weirdest rules around their performers, guests, can't even do a coat check if they're at their Cargo space for a concert. Hotel rooms are a bit dated They do have water refill stations on every floor. The gym is 24 hours. The Whitney Cafe is actually quite good. We ate there every morning as the food quality was hood and had a reasonable price point. The ambiance was quite nice, as well. The location is a little sketchy especially at nighttime but it is close to a lot of casinos and fairly close to Midtown (great food). read more

Nice hotel in downtown Reno, conveniently located to gambling and the Riverwalk. The hotel has its own restaurant, climbing walls, a really decent gym, and its own spa. The rooms were large and the beds were comfortable, and everything was very clean. The food at the hotel was very good and the portions for breakfast were massive. The omelette could easily feed two people. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. They have a huge amount of conference space as well if you're looking to host an event and their event catering was pretty good. The hotel is only about four blocks from the Riverwalk and right next-door to the El Dorado casino. Valet parking is $25 a day. There is an option to self park for $12 a day, but the parking deck is super sketchy and a little bit of walk from the hotel. It's only a 10 minute car ride from the hotel to most places so unless you are planning on driving out of town for some reason, I would avoid a car rental altogether. read more

I enjoyed my very brief stay here a lot and would definitely come back. I heard that the hotel has a rock climbing wall but I didn't get a chance to check it out. The rooms were pretty spacious though I found the bathroom to be somewhat small. The walls are also very thin and I could clearly hear people outside who were being loud. There is complimentary water and hot cider, which was excellent! We did have a difficult time finding parking, which is why I took off one star. For some odd reason, the hotel parking garage is not connected to the hotel at all, and is actually a somewhat far distance away. This does make a difference when you arrive to the hotel after a long time traveling and are struggling to park. To compound the issue, we arrived on New Years Eve when most of the streets in Reno are closed for revelers. With so many streets being one-ways, the way to get to the parking garage was exceptionally complex and nobody bothered to give a good explanation. So this was quite unpleasant and led to some tense moments. The parking structure is also pretty run down and small, and a bit complicated to navigate. I would recommend budgeting a lot of time for figuring out the parking situation if you choose to stay here. read more

Beautiful clean hotel in the middle of downtown Reno. Gorgeous property with incredibly friendly staff. While my trip was incredibly short and I did not get to utilize all the amenities the room itself was incredibly comfortable with a coffee machine and view. The hotel has an onsite 24/7 gym and a Sauna which is open at 8 am. Additionally the onsite Cafe Whitney restaurant had great coffee I was able to order to go. Valet parking is $25 a night which is reasonable for the area. I would stay again when in town. It is a Hilton Tapestry hotel. read more

Lobby restrooms are located  at the entrances of the Whitney Cafe.  Women's closer to the front desk; Men's by near the elevators.  The men restroom is clean and very roomy.  Well stocked.  3 stalls (1 handicap), 3 urinals, 4 sinks and a changing table. Cannot use fire stairs... doors are alarmed.   You will need your door card to operate the elevators. Outside perimeter  Down town location streets are a bit rough and dirty.  There is a a rock climbing wall on the outside wall of the hotel just behind the famous Reno Arc.   You probably access it thru the 2nd floor fitness center. Parking Valet Parking at the hotel Self Parking is at a parking structure about 1/2 block from the hotel. Fee is $7.00 per day; you take a ticket then pay at the gate with a credit card... I did not see a payment machine. Staff Front Desk Staff Friendly and helpful. Was not greeted as a Hilton Honors Member.  Was able to change room type from King to Double Queen  Check In and Out No issues.  I usually use the App, but the App has been down since CrowdStrike crash.  Housekeeping Staff  No interaction Food Staff Only Whitney Cafe.  See that review for details. Shuttle Driver/Valet Valet was helpful in directing me to self parking due to street closures Room 625 Room is spacious but dirty.  There is dust on top of the headboards.   The window rails are dirty and the carpet in front of the windows needed vacuuming. Fingerprints on TV. The closet had 2 robes and 2 disposable slippers.   Pretty cool.  The ironing board and iron and room safe. There is a good size room fridge with freezer shelf. Keurig branded K-Cup coffee maker. Outlets are behind furniture. The HVAC air output is exposed grill so you can see the hardware there is no filter or cover.   The AC works really well... too well.   Had to turn it off.  The air filter has been changed and cleaned. Bathroom is well stocked and supplied, the are under the sink needs to be wiped down, especially the upper left corner.  The bath tub stopper is either the wrong size (too long for the drain) or the stem that secures the stopper to the drain is broken.  Either way, the stopper does not seal.   Guest Internet Had a hard time connecting... kept failing to authenticate my login. Food/Restaurant only - Cafe Whitney.  Separate review. Gym/Pool This Fitness Center is amazing.... It's one of the most complete gyms I have ever seen in a non resort hotel. There is a rock climbing feature (from my understanding the rock climbing is not free) hotel guests do have a discount. This hotel is definitely aimed at the climbers....truly incredible. Did not see a pool, but there is a sauna and steam room (sorry did not get a chance to check it out) Guest Laundry Was closed and out of order Ice makers Pepsi branded vending machines are located with ice makers.   Vending machines sold out of all products.  The water filter was a pleasant surprise.   The one on our floor was out of order after we got water from it.  But you can go to other floors to get water. I want to love this hotel. For one, there is no gambling. For another, they allow dogs. And a third, they have an awesome climbing gym. And lemonade in the lobby. It on the strip but fairly quiet. Love that. However, the AC literally didn't work the first night due to a power surge (they did communicate this via text after the fact) and there was a giant fly in my room that just wouldn't die. read more

Service: Everyone was friendly and helpful, and I greatly appreciated the text we received before checking in and during our stay. Room: The room was really nice, super clean, and spacious for the two of us. There were a few little annoyances: one side of the bed had nowhere to charge my phone (had to plug it in behind the nightstand), the tissue cube was nearly empty when we arrived. It had a great view of Virginia Street and the casino across the street, plus the little dog park down below. But the real downer was their AC. When we arrived the first night, the AC had been left running, but the room was 82°. I figured it had probably frozen over, because it was not producing any cool air (it was a 100° day). We managed with the window open though it was uncomfortable. The second day, we left the AC off all day so it could recover -- but that night, the AC still wouldn't produce any cool air. That was a rough night. I should have reported it, but we didn't until we left. Parking: Their lot is essentially across the street, about a 5-minute walk. Self-parking is either $12/day with in/out privileges or $7 each time you leave. They also offer valet. No issues here, seemed safe, plenty of spaces. Restaurant: They didn't have a single vegetarian entree, so unless you want a $24 cheese pizza, you're stuck with salad and apps. It looked like a really nice place, though. Amenities: We assumed the hotel would have a pool and hot tub, like every other hotel I've been to. It does not. Instead, it has a rock-climbing setup which was $15/day. But it also looked like it was shut down when we checked it out. The entire second floor was eerily abandoned like they're doing construction or something. With that all said, as a non-smoker I greatly appreciated that the entire hotel is non-smoking. The other hotels on the "Row" are horrible for breathing, no matter where you go. This is an interesting hotel with a rock climbing wall built on one of the outside walls. We stayed here because it has no casino and is supposed to be smoke free. To me, the air seemed pretty stuffy, maybe because it is a pet friendly hotel? The staff were friendly and polite, always holding the doors open for us. The room was a nice size and had a lovely view. The HVAC in the room was incredibly loud. The nightlight in the bathroom flickered like the Bate's motel. The sliding glass shower door would not stay closed. Also, the tv mysteriously turned itself on in the wee hours of the morning. The glowing light woke me up. Not the best night of sleep ever (though the bed was comfortable). We had breakfast at the restaurant on the first floor. Very large portions. Food tasted good and was beautifully plated. read more

The Whitney Peak hotel is a nice moderately priced mid range hotel. The lobby was small nicely decorated. It is pet friendly. The hotel staff was very polite and friendly. We had a King suite bedroom. It was clean, well decorated and modern with a beautiful mountain view. The window was quite small for the size of the room and I wish it had been larger to lighten the room and so I could take in more of the beautiful mountain tops. My biggest issue was that we requested a bathtub but were told that they didnt know which rooms had a bathtub and which only had a shower so we were stuck with a shower. Boooooo! Hated it! That said the room came with a refrigerator to keep drinks and food cold. The bathroom was medium sized with a few toiletries. They hotel featured a restaurant called Cafe Whitney which was really good. Not bad for a quick weekend get-a-way. When in Reno, I highly recommend over the Silver Legacy, El Dorado and definitely better than the Circus Circus. It is located right across the street from these hotels which have additional nice restaurants to visit in close proximity. read more

Ok. This place draws a pretty nice week day crowd for Happy Hour. Not overly crowded and you can enjoy Happy Hour at the bar or at a table. My friends and I loved the mt Rose Fizz cocktail. But totally disappointed the Pork Belly ... this is the one time when I enjoy the crispy fatty part of the pig. But these were pretty dry pieces of pork. Whitney Peak is a solid three star. There is definitely good and bad. Pros: Super dog friendly. They even give your fur babies a goodie bag. The rooms are nice and updated with a huge tv that allows you to log into your favorite streaming services. The valet guys and bellhops deserve a raise. They are working super hard and are the nicest people we met. The dog park is right behind where they park the cars and I constantly saw them running to and from to ensure guests got their cars in a timely manner. Each room has a mini fridge. It was nice to put our drinks in. Location, location, location. Situated right next to the Reno arch it is within walking distance to almost everything you could want to do including the river walk. Cons: It's either valet your car at $25 a day or park in a garage a block away that you have to pay to go in and out of. The first employee I encountered at the front desk could use some more training on customer service. Coming from the entertainment capital of the World, maybe I expect more. We were emailed about getting an upgrade. I accepted that email and chose the upgrade I wanted, but no upgrade when we checked in. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I guess I built up my expectations throughout the week leading up to our stay only to be let down. There was an event going on during our stay that made the elevators slow and packed. The water filling machine on our floor wasn't working the whole four days we were there. I decided to get a soda from the machine after a long day and it was hot. Not even cool. I got charged $10 for two waters I didn't drink. I brought my own waters that happened to be Dasani. Their two bottles were never touched, but I guess having the same brand confused housekeeping. The shower glass would not stay shut so all the hot air escaped and it was a cold experience even though the water was hot. We did have an issue with our room during our stay. The air never got below 75. I did contact the front desk and they sent a maintenance worker to fix it. They did something to the blower in hopes that that would fix the issue. I called again the next morning as the room was still 75. They insisted on sending maintenance again instead of just offering to move us. The maintenance worker confirmed the air was not moving through the register and had the front desk moved us. Which should have happened the first time I called. Now in this new room, the sink never really drained. So we had backup water the whole time. I don't believe we would stay here again and couldn't give a recommendation to family and friends looking for a place to stay while visiting Reno. read more

My time in Reno was amazing. This hotel on the other hand had a few hiccups. It has been recently taken over by Hilton and there are definitely a few issues. With that being said the property has some really great things as well. The cons. I was given a room with an adjoining room. The doors that connected the rooms were insanely thin that on my last two days there a family that had two children checked in next to me and I had to repeatedly call down to have them send someone up to address the new neighbors. The children kept opening the door trying to enter my room. If it wasn't that they would be yelling and banging on the door. Now I get it this happens. The issue for me was the hotel wasn't full. Why would you book someone right next to someone else when there is space else were to give everyone a little breathing room? Next the property doesn't have a casino which is not really a con I guess unless you are wanting to gamble where you are staying. Then I am a diamond member and have some extra things available. The lounge are that was assigned for the happy hour was not the bar area. It was a room on the second floor way out of the way and with zero windows. Was odd. The pros Location was perfect Super easy getting around from this location. The staff ( majority) so so friendly and welcoming. 1000 percent the only reason I would come stay here again would be the staff. Love Then the really cool thing. They have a bouldering project type set up on the second floor as well. Was very cool to see. Over all I'm not super impressed with the property as I think there is some room for growth but I'm sure things will change in the very near future. So if I end up staying again I will definitely update this review. Either way it's worth a check out if you don't mind being woke up at all hours when the hotel is busy. read more

What an awesome and seamless experience! We stayed at another hotel in Reno the weekend before, and our experience at the Whitney Peak was so much better we were blown away. The service was exceptional. Every person we came into contact with was kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. They offered free filtered water on each floor. This place was great! We came for a friend's wedding and the hotel manager Z and the hospitality manager were fantastic, so accommodating, and went above and beyond. My cousin had his wedding reception here and it Such a beautiful venue for events! I think that makes it its own is the decor, the brick walls with the portraits of entertainers gave it a vibe. Once you go up the 2 escalators, including taking a peek at base camp gym, you are welcomed immediately to the cocktail hour. The collapsible walls were up so you couldn't see the rest of the venue but it was. Nicely decorated with couches to sit and high top tables to place your drinks and appies on. It was open bar for 2 hours. I will say though by the time it was close to sitting, the bartender was getting flustered as she was waiting on ice and had ran out of cocktail glasses, eventually you would have to bring your glass to have it refilled should you need another drink. I was able to try their pork belly banh mi which was yummy! The pork belly was nicely marinated and the pickled veggies brought out the flavors. We were asked to walk around the walls to the entrance of the rest of the venue where we would have dinner and dance. It was beautiful walking in! There were probably 14 or 15 tables nicely spread around the dance floor, the walls were still up which my husband and I thought felt cramped, however as soon as dinner started, the walls were taken down and it opened up the whole venue! I'm glad they did that because you were able to take advantage of the look and feel Whitney peak was going for! We had a platted dinner and I chose the Caesar salad. The lettuce was a little wilted so the crunch only came from the croutons. I asked for extra dressing, which was perfect. The main course most of us ordered was the tri tip and all of ours were cooked rare. It was so hard to eat. The asparagus and truffle risotto was delicious! Another friend who sat at another table also said hers was rare. We took a bite of the kids chicken tenders which was burnt and overcooked; It was dry. My husband & sisters boyfriend went downstairs to eat at the restaurant downstairs because they were so hungry but he said the pasta was good! Dessert was served and it was a buffet style with different treats including, eclairs, chocolate mousse, matcha mousse, fruit tarts, creme brûlée, mini red velvet cakes to name a few. The desserts were good, my favorite was the chocolate and matcha mouse! The creme brûlée was also yummy! Another drawback was similar to the bar, they had run out of dessert plates. It was like the facility didn't have enough cups and plates or they weren't prepared for the amount of people. Maybe they were short staffed? Service was great and we were tended and checked on regularly during the dining time. Our water glasses were always filled, coffee was offered, food was delivered and plates were taken away without waiting too long. All in all I wanted to rate this 3.5 as the experience was great, but the only drawback was the salad and main course. I know when planning for my wedding food was very important to us and to pay for a pretty penny on this venue you want to make sure the food is great and this fell short of the expectations. read more
