From the first interaction when I called to ask a question, they were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I only got an answering machine from the other large nursery I had planned to visit. A review I read said that Paul had been very helpful and knowledgeable, so when I arrived, I asked for him. They called for him and he came a few minutes later. He spent the time to clearly assess what I was looking for as far as time commitment in caring for my plants, what the area was we were working with-sun/shade, what look I was going for. He educated me about the possibilities and showed me a variety of ideas. He patiently helped me choose the best plants and loaded them on the carts for me. I ended up purchasing plants for multiple areas of our yard because of his knowledge and willingness to help me figure out a good plan that would look beautiful while being practical. We even returned a few days later to get a few more plants for some planters. He was there to show alternatives and make suggestions. The nursery itself has a wide variety of plants. It has a huge variety of pots and a lot of fun yard decorations as well. We definitely found a five star nursery and advisor! read more

I recently visited for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service and attention I received. I had visited with hopes of getting help with some houseplants that are struggling. Sydney was so kind and gracious to look at the pictures I showed her on my phone, and she took the time to listen to the issues. She patiently explained some solutions, and even provided me with them by writing them down for me. By the way, these were plants I had purchased somewhere else. Then, she also helped me find some flowering plants for my back patio, also by listening to what I needed, and was looking for. Very very very helpful, a guy helped me find a agave plant, one I was in the hunt for, but my mistake with the size of the plant and the fact it needs to be outside he whole time =( dumb me. Sucks, so we found a few other plants to put in the apartment. Pricing is really good the nursery down the street was pricy as heck and limited selection. This place has heck of a amount of plants! Last year we bought a Christmas tree that we had delivered and set in a stand. It fell over twice and damaged some irreplaceable ornaments. They did send someone out there to fix it both times and offered us a discount and free delivery for this year. Well, they have short memories because no one there remembers. Anyways, was going to give them another chance but the trees are way overpriced and the staff is rude. The trees were just ok but are unbelievably priced. A&P down the road trees were in better shape and half the price. The staff gave me a crap story about shipping costs. I work in logistics so maybe they need to find a new broker. Won't ever give them another chance. read more

First time visitor at the Gilbert location. Had a great experience there. Greeted right away. Showed them a clipping of the plant and they knew right away what it was and showed us the selections. We purchased 6 new plants and some mulch. Then we found out that the person who helped us didn't even work there!!!! He previously worked there for 15 years and enjoys being there. From the moment I stepped on to the nursery to when my trees were planted the service was amazing. I had a young gal, still in high school, help me out looking at trees, she was so informative! To them arranging for utilities and gas to come out to mark my yard for safety purposes. And finally the guys who came out to plant my trees and were doing everything to look for a hose that I failed to leave out so they could water my trees. They were kind enough to leave a note on my door to remind me to water. And they left my yard so clean. read more

I love going to this nursery, this time I am not as happy. We bought a tree and paid for it to be delivered and planted. I was told that they would tell us how to care for the tree when they came out to plant. They said nothing just planted and took off. I have emailed twice now asking how to care for the tree with no response. Disappointed to have spent a lot of money (for me it was a lot) and have no idea how to take care of it and don't want the tree to die. Well, I have 4 fruit trees from Whitfill Nursery. One died but it was over 1 year. I was told at the purchase "shack" that they guarantee their trees up to a year. Ok. I get it, so I purchased a replacement peach tree. It died in the summer after spring planting. The leaves turned yellow and we called and were told peach leaves do turn yellow. We were hopeful, but it died. I called today and NOW told it's a 3 month warranty. The girl said she would check and they MIGHT help if we could find the receipt or bank statement. Gees, in this day if computers you'd think they would attempt to look my record up. VERY DISAPPOINTING, poor customer support. They lost a great customer and I'll be sure to spread word. Stay away. No interest in helping customers. Done. read more

Highly recommend this nursery, especially over the Whitfill in Phoenix. Landscaped the majority of our acre+ lot with their trees and plants. Nancy was very helpful hooking me up with a large bundle deal on everything. It's a ways from Paradise Valley but worth it to me to go buy in bulk from nice, knowledgeable people. About 7 months after planting everything looks outstanding and we get compliments all the time on our yard. read more

I bought a not so cheap tree here for my house about a year ago. I watered the tree regularly and kept it safe from the cold in the winter. Unfortunately the tree died a few months ago. After reaching out to Nancy a couple of times and playing phone tag she replaced my tree with a new beautiful one. I would recommend this nursery. They are always friendly and understanding. Whitfill had a gorgeous selection of truly healthy plants and flowers- with lots of different and interesting choices- all reasonably priced! The staff is so, so friendly here! I have been here a few times and had exceptionally kind and helpful encounters with employees. This time, there was a man yelling and appearing potentially violent over the mask policy and multiple staff members were ensuring that my friend and I, as well as other guests, stayed out of that area to look out for our safety. They checked on us multiple times while this was going on, and continually apologized for the inconvenience after the situation was resolved. If I could give this nursery a 0 I would! I have honestly never received such horrible, rude customer service. I wish I could say this only happened once but it happened twice. I couldn't find anyone to help answer basic plant questions, very unknowledgeable, unwilling to help staff. Please don't waste your money there, the plants are so so at best, I had several die! There is 3 other nurseries a few miles away Treeland, Summerwinds and A&P. My husband and went to Treeland after leaving Whitfill and was greeted by a friendly women and then we found a gentleman who was beyond knowledgeable who walked us around and showed/gave information about various plants. we purchased $400 in plants and I'm happy to say they are all doing fantastic. Please don't give your hard earned money to WHITFILL nursey it is a horrible place in ALL aspects. read more

We've purchased all of our plants from this nursery over the past 15+ years and have spent thousands with them. The service has been decent and they had even replaced one of our mule palms that had died which they had planted for us. We recommend them as a reasonable place to buy plants with very reasonable prices however the reason this review is a 3 star review and not the 5 stars I would have given them a week ago stems from our recent interaction. All of our plants in our backyard recently came down with a plant disease. We brought a clipping of one of our 30 Japanese privets to see if we could get some advice on how to remedy this. Being that they are a nursery and grower we thought they would be able to help us with our plant investment which we had purchased from them. The only thing the lady at the front desk was able to tell us was that it looks like a fungus and they have no one that can help us or give us any helpful information on how to address this problem. Instead she handed me a business card for a very expensive arborist which we cannot afford. All we wanted was some advice on how to address this issue that has infected all of our plants including all 8 of our mule palms. I am not certain if we will choose to buy again or not from this nursery due to their lack of advice on this issue which they should know about. We do not hold Whitfiull nursery responsible for the plant disease of course. All we were hoping to get was some advice on what to do to address our problem however they have demonstrated to us that they either do not care about our issue and have no interest in providing advice, or they just do not have experienced nursery staff that can offer sound advice on growing the plants you purchase from them. read more
