Loved Whitey's Fish Camp! Such a cool, unique seafood spot with a great outdoor patio and dock seating right on the water. The food was amazing! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly. The shrimp platter was outstanding, and the seafood queso was absolutely delicious and a must-try. Our waitress was super friendly, attentive, and gave us great recommendations. Between the great food, fun atmosphere, and excellent service, we'll definitely be back!

We had not eaten at Whitey's in quite some time because of it very fried menu. We heard new owners/new menu and decided to give it a try. The service was excellent from the time we sat down to paying our bill. The restaurant still had the same great fish camp vibe with indoor/outdoor or bar seating. There was live music when we were there so there wasn't any available outdoor dining. We ordered the fish dip as an appetizer and blackened grouper for our meal. Everything was delicious even the water tasted better!

Whitey's has been purchased by Harry's Restaurants of St. Augustine. It has been "refreshed" and our Red Hats, here for the May monthly luncheon, enjoyed the decor--plenty of fish and animals on the walls, along with a striking mural. We all chose something different, I believe, for our meals but everyone said they enjoyed the food. There was a delay in being seated because there was a mix-up in where the waitstaff had been assigned. Also, there are no reservations so even though I called ahead twice (once in April and then the night before) to alert the staff that we had about twelve people coming, they really were not ready for us. Still we got to eat together and most of us try to go with the flow (there's always one, though, and I apologize that she expressed her impatience to the servers who had no control over either the seating delay or when the food was ready). There was at least one other large group and even another Red Hat chapter! I had the broiled redfish and Cole slaw. Our waitress made me a special drink with grenadine syrup--see photo. Excellent! Thank you! You can eat outside and see Doctor's Lake. Or, come in your boat and tie up at the dock.

I met my future daughter-in-law! Brooklyn is an absolute sweetheart that we had the privilege of having as our lunch server on Saturday. This was my first-ever dining experience in Jacksonville, Florida, and it couldn't have made a better impression. The service was warm, friendly, and genuinely top-tier. From the host, to Brooklyn, to her mom Amy (yes, I got to meet my future in-laws), to even the random staff who rescued me when I got lost looking for the bathroom -- every single person we met was welcoming and kind. The Gilligan's Island-style atmosphere, complete with a gas pump on the outdoor deck, was new for me. I'm a Boston city guy now living in LA, so this kind of "Florida coastal dive-chic" was a first -- and I loved every bit of it. Food-wise? Phenomenal. The shrimp bisque was a revelation -- my first time trying it, since I've always been a lobster bisque loyalist. But this one? Creamy, buttery, and left an aftertaste so good it felt like the bisque kissed you back. The white wine cream pasta was so incredible I demolished it too fast, then kept picking at everyone else's food. I didn't realize how full I was until hours later... and even now, three days later back home in LA, I'm still craving it enough to plan another trip to Jacksonville before the year's out. I can't wait to come back. ... And Brooklyn (and Amy), I'll be sure to bring my sons (you can take your pick!).

New owners menu completely changed. Very limited what you can order in the tiki bar section.

Stopped by for happy hour and dessert. We got a pound of peel and eat a shrimp (not included on happy hour) and the fried mushroom (half off). Was disappointed they no longer have their bread pudding, but we got the lava cake instead and it was delicious. Our server was great. She checked on us a lot and everyone else they're working was so polite. I got caught up, looking at all the critters hanging from the ceiling and almost bumped into one of them and we had a good laugh. This place has critters and decor all over the place which makes it very interesting to just look around. I thought the alligator fish was hilarious. He sat on the back patio and even though it was February, it was still very nice not too cold.

Gotta say I'm loving the new updates. Stopped in for drinks to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. So happy they now have REAL GLASSES. No more plastic cups! My dirty martini was frosty & perfectly done. My sister got their cucumber melon martini which was light and fresh and slightly sweet. The service was great & friendly. Can't wait to come back and try some food.

The new food items are good! Service they are still working out the kinks, but good job changing the menu up at Whiteys! The Ahi Tuna App was fresh and the buffalo shrimp was lightly fried and full of flavor. Well done!

Not the same whiteys.down graded looks like the new cracker barrel inside and the food was like expensive fast food. Not good at all wasted $120.00 it is bad when you go out to eat in a place that cooks food and they can't even cook .

Under new ownership and recently renovated, we decided to go with neighbors and give it a try again. The duality had deteriorated for several of the past few years. The new menu incorporates some of Harry's Cajun dishes and the fried food was reduced. New flooring and decor but true to the original fish camp vibe. A children's area has been added for young families and the pool room removed. Less of a bar scene atmosphere now. Service staff was retained from previous staff. With a visit of you have not gone in awhile. Wishing the new owners the best of luck!

Service was great , updated fresh look, additions to the food menu. Has a little Cajun flare, ingredients taste upgraded, love it. We will be back !

    Receipt from Whitey's Fish camp

Elizabeth and Nick This place is not family owned and operated anymore. They have sold it. May 2026. Make sure you check your receipts and count your change Elizabeth at the door try to take $20 from me by telling me she could not give me a receipt before I paid and taking $30 in vouchers from me and only taking 20 out of that 30 off of my bill, she told me my bill was $47 even I gave her $50 total. She gave me back $8.20 and change after I get the receipt and see it's only $33.20 I then call the manager over saying she only took $20 off out of the total 30 and vouchers and for one big problem. She told me the wrong total and gave me back change for the wrong total 1000% felt like a scam smells like a scam and I almost got scammed. Had I not looked and checked it. Very disappointing the customer service in this place has gone drastically downhill. The food has gone drastically downhill. The chicken is rubber chicken the chicken that used to be before this last people bought it over was delicious juicy tender. Now it's rubber doesn't even feel real feels like the crap in the grocery stores when you're waitress won't give you a receipt before you pay for your food. That is a big giant red flag when she lies and tells you and her manager two different stories. Another huge red flag lied to me about my total lied to her manager about the vouchers I gave her. I have never been this upset she 1000% tried to scam me out of over $20 in one transaction disgusting. Customer service has gone drastically downhill. The weight staff is incredibly rude. This place is not family owned and operated since 1960 whatever they have been bought by the people who own Harry's seafood and a couple other chain restaurants this is now crap food, rubber chicken things out of a bag that get heated up no longer a good restaurant. They no longer have stuffed grouper they no longer have the devil crab. It is now big chain restaurant rubber chicken, the same old, low quality that all the other restaurants have I will choose to go somewhere else from here on out.

Everything looked good on the menu. We started off with shrimp and some oysters and the oysters were topped with collard greens and cheese they were good but the oysters were just HUGE! For my entree I had a shrimp po'boy with a side of the bacon collards again they were really good. My only issue is that for my po'boy the bread was not a roll but it was still satisfying. My husband had the fish platter with grouper and trigger fish with fries and coleslaw. We absolutely loved the grouper it reminded me of red snapper. However we will be back and I love a cutie, rustic looking restaurant.

The cafe is more on the smaller side but it's cozy and the customer service is always happy and friendly! When you walk inside, there's a hot bar with all the food items available that day. You can check their Facebook page for their menu each day! You can get combos like an entree and a side, two entrees and a side, etc. On the shelves near the windows, there are local Filipino desserts like crinkles, puto (rice cake), flan, etc for sale. They also sell mac salad in the fridge and some dried fish on the shelves. What I love about this cafe is that they have a small snacks/drinks/candy market next to the dining area. The dining area is a good size and faces the parking lot. On this particular Saturday, we had the following entrees and sides: Lechon (roasted pig), Kaldereta (Filipino beef stew), and some rice! The lechon pieces were big and the skin (my fav!) was crispy, salty, and golden! The meat was also juicy and not dry. What I like to do is dip the meat into some white vinegar to give it some acidity since the lechon is on the heavy side after a few bites. The Kaldereta was hearty, rich, flavorful and it reminded me of an elevated beef stew. The potatoes and carrots literally melted in my mouth! I gave my combo plate a 8.5/10! My husband had Humba (braised pork belly that is slow cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, fermented black beans, and sugar) and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He shared some pieces of it with me and it was smooth as butter. It was sweet and salty and his rice soaked up all the sauces. Definitely a must try! I would give it a 9/10 because the flavors were so rich and it made me want even more! The prices are reasonable for how much food you're getting! They also sell desserts like halo halo (shaved iced with fresh fruits, taro ice cream, toppings like flan, condensed milk, jellies, beans, etc.) I've personally had the halo halo and it's one of my favorites! Super refreshing on a hot summer day. They also sell mango and taro flavored cakes but you have to call in advance for whole cakes. Their cakes are light, delicious, and fluffy! I especially enjoy the mango cake because you get chunks of fresh, champagne mangoes on and inside the cake. We've been coming here for years and don't plan on stopping. My husband is a bit of a Filipino food snob at times, but Lola's definitely has a special place in his heart! They do military discounts too, FYI!
