We ordered the jalapeño crab poppers, shrimp dip, purple pelican drink, and the St.Johns Sunset drinks. The best thing ordered was the popper, but standard frozen and fried popper nothing amazing. Loved Singletons! But Saturday night, celebrating an anniversary with my wife may be my last visit. Maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen? The clam chowder we had the consistency of thick paste and was scalding hot. Still have a burnt tongue after two days. The fish was a very thin filet and was dry. I would have returned it but I did not want to embarrass my wife. The hush puppies were overcooked and grits a thin paste. The coke slaw was great! All this, amidst a beautiful sunset and great moment with my wife. Was it worth $130? Not the food at all. Maybe it was just a bad night. I would pause and look at other referrals before returning. I've only been here for steamed oysters and they oh so good. Last time I went, I also tried the buffalo shrimp app. They were delicious. Our server was amazing. He's great! The restaurant sits on the water so it's a great vibe no matter the time of day as long as you have good company. read more

We have been waiting to try Singleton's for a awhile now and they were undergoing renovations for a little over 3 months and now they are finally open. The inside feels like I am inside a wooden ship, cool memorabilia over the years are seen throughout this spot. Seated at the outdoor view and even got to see a Carnival Cruise liner pass by (didn't know they make their way up here) and the view is just awesome as the sunset comes. For drinks, got the Singleton Sunset-because it is that time of the day and a Modelo Especial which are both really good to mix with seafood. Calamari and Steamed dozen Oysters for appetizers were right on the spot. Got the Good for 2 Meal which we selected Blackened Trigger Fish and Scallops. They paired really well with the Collard Greens and French Fries. Our server Jill gave us delicious recommendations and was attentive. There are lots of customers on the weekend, so it may take some time for the orders. read more

As a big fan of Guy Fieri, I definitely wanted to give Singleton's as he had introduced on his famous "Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives show. After initially trying it out, I have been recommending it as a must go place for out-of-towners. We were definitely forewarned that the combos "for two" were not simply for two but quite possibly for four or even five people. There was quite a good amount of food for the price. My parents took us here while visiting and we loved it! The vibes were exactly what you want in a beach restaurant: casual, quick, good food and good views. It looks the same as it did years ago when it aired...when you think of what an old Florida Seafood Shack would look like....this is it. And when you think of what they'd be serving up...this is it. Our second visit to Singleton's was likely our last. Service was short and insincere. Absolutely disconnected and seemed bothered by our presence. Food was average at best. Maybe the worst grits I've ever had. Fish was ok, but forgettable. Parmesan crusted oysters were mostly breadcrumbs. Literally almost choked on them. They should be embarrassed to serve them. I don't typically give bad reviews, but this visit definitely deserved a dishonorable mention. I wanted so bad for this place to be good, but it isn't. Safeharbor seafood restaurant was closed on Easter Sunday. We decided to try Singleton's seafood. The waitress was very nice however we ordered the fried seafood combo.. grouper, shrimp, and oysters. Beverages were topped off frequenty and the seafood was as fresh as you could want from waterfront of a port. This is the spot! Singletons has excellent fried seafood, and you just can't beat their outdoor deck on top of the river. I've been here several times now and it's been outstanding each time. The fish are extremely fresh and delicious. I'm also a big fan of the clam strips and shrimp. The seafood breading adds a corn-mealy flavor that goes perfectly with it all. And they have a great hot sauce collection. If you're getting a seafood plate, instead of eating fries, I recommend getting clam strips as one of two proteins and get other sides instead. The fries really are nothing to write home about. The fried corn and corn slaw are delicious. And you really can't beat that deck on the river. Watching pelicans fly by, seeing boats sailing, and just enjoying a cold one on a sunny day at that great spot is the best. Highly recommend! One of my favorite Jacksonville spots! read more

Everything came out tasting wonderful, service was great, and the outside seating was pretty amazing. As soon as you walk in, you can see where your food is being prepared. There was one particular cook who maybe was having a bad day, but walking in and hearing him act rude to the waitresses was kind of off setting. Confession- my husband doesn't like white fish (I know!). Our server recommended the catch of the day (sheep's head) and he loved it blackened. I got crab legs that were just ok. They kept my sweet tea full the entire time, but there was a lot of confusion about who our server would be. Not sure the communication between the host stand and the servers was firing that day.
