I don't know where to begin.... Marta is a magician. I've been trying to get my hair a fire engine red (from basically black) for YEARS and it just wasn't happening - I come to Marta and she changed my life!!!!!! Exactly the Rihana red I wanted and I get compliments on it daily. THANK YOU SO MUCH MARTA you are amazing. I always look forward to seeing you. If you are looking for a cut as well you NEED TO SEE DARBY - he can do ANYTHING with the scissors or a razor, he can be super edgy or extremely clean and classy, they are the most incredible duo. I don't know what I'd do without them. I love the salon it is so cute and fresh - very comfortable setting. This is my go-to salon for everything that you need. read more

Extreme Haircut Makeover! Darby is the man! He did a total 360 on my hair and it looks amazing. It was my first time at White Room and I couldn't be happier with the experience. It was very straightforward to schedule an appointment and when I requested an earlier one, I was informed when an opening showed up. Darby knew exactly what he was doing (while I wasn't sure what I wanted!). I hadn't cut my hair for months (more like a year!) and my hair was outgrown with splits and no shape. I wanted something drastic and was ready to do the big snip of 10 inches for Locks for Love. Darby understood me perfectly. He cut just the right amount and kept my look stylish. My hair is a nice length now - feels light, feels different and chic! I highly recommend Darby and will surely be going back. It was great chatting with him and a terrific experience overall. I'm receiving so many compliments and it all really goes to the stylist! Thank you, Darby. read more

AWFUL. The only thing redeeming is that I got my money back for the worst haircut I have ever gotten in the past 10 years. I trusted them! I thought they got "it"from their reputation and presence. I was given the "Rachel" but worse. The layers were so dated. My hair was feathered in the front. I had long thick straight hair - WHY would anyone do this to me?? I have great hair and now a bad haircut. I gave him one guide that I did not want my hair to flip and out and thats all it does. Also, he turned me away from the mirror as he was blowdrying (burned my scalp 3 times) and did a reveal. I was clearly not thrilled. I went back the next day because I could not out in public as is and he just hacked off my hair in an attempt to "fix" it. He did acknowledge the shelf he had created where there was a drastic difference in two layers of hair. It was unsaveable. I went to my regular stylist at a salon near by the next day and she brought it to my attention that my hair came to a point at the end! A POINT - as in a purposeful look that occurs when your hair grows too long. There were so many things wrong with this hair cut I received from the Whiteroom I didn't even see all of them. It's been a week and a half and I am still livid! Bad hair every second of every day until this grows out in two months. HORRIBLE salon with no vision. I say this as a designer and someone how has style and an eye. This was a lazy haircut that did not consider the client, hair type or style. He didn't even go over the cut with me we only discussed length. To top off I did not like his attitude. Sorry, I keep having to edit. There were so many things wrong I keep thinking about it. Did I mention that my hair Mushroomed at the top!? There is still a clear mushroom. Volume at the top tiered layer (I know tiered - crying still) and thin left over hair at the bottom. When he "fixed" my hair he mentioned how he may just not be the hairstylist for me. Very true. I get upset everyday by this cut. I cannot express enough how unhappy I am The only reason I decided to try Whiteroom out was because my last two stylist raised their rates which I will now gladly pay. read more

I would highly recommend WHITEROOM to anyone. I had a cut with LP and color with Elisabeth. First off, LP is an artist when it comes to hair. I have never had my hair done by anyone who was so meticulous and creative when it came to my haircut. He was really patient and we took enough time to discuss the style to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Needless to say I have been getting compliments on my hair ever since. My color change was a huge overhaul to say the least. I wanted to go from dark brown to lavender blonde. I had a consultation appointment with Elisabeth prior to coming in to the salon and we did a test strand of bleach to see how well the color would lift. Again, I have yet to meet someone who has the same level of knowledge and expertise when it comes to hair coloring as Elisabeth. Not only did she magically manage to get my hair to a radiant shade of purple, but she also managed to keep my hair in great shape through two back to back bleaching sessions. Also, I have to give her huge props for spending 9+ hours on coloring my hair. I rarely post reviews on Yelp, but in my opinion WHITEROOM has some of the best hair stylists and colorists in NYC period, so be sure to check them out if you haven't done so already. read more

Christina is the only person in New York I would trust with my hair colour. After one visit she knew exactly how I needed my colour to be (probably more so than I did) and it has been perfect every single visit. LP cuts my hair, he is equally brilliant. He understands my abstract styling references and nonsensical hair related hand gestures. He is also an absolute pleasure to chat with and gives the best blowout I have encountered in a long time. read more

Elisabeth has been doing my hair for 4 years, from brown to blonde and back again twice, she's done wonders with the color (both balayage and highlights) and really understands the nuances of blonde and blending. She's incredibly gifted, but also sweet and funny, which makes sitting in a salon chair for hours that much better. On top of that they have top drawer staff, always answering immediately and being super friendly; they recently accommodated last minute bangs with just an hour notice and make them a gorgeous 70s shag. This is the place to go if you want nice hair. read more

I've been going to this salon since it opened and Elisabeth cut my hair at her previous salon too. She doesn't cut anymore so now I go to Darby who is excellent. He can translate photos and weird descriptions into a haircut with confidence. You can tell he loves his job and I really think that makes for a better hair cut. He didn't over style me and gave me some tips for styling at home. He fit me in for a bang trim for $20 the day after I called to make the appointment, which is very convienent because my bangs get too long overnight. This inexpensive touch up also helps level out the higher cost of the haircut ($120 I think for my long/thick hair). This isn't a "cheap" hair cut, but I'm not interested in a "cheap" haircut! I'm happy to pay Darby a fair rate for making me look this good :) read more

Great place, Tommy does an excellent job. His musical selection for the salon is also really good!

I went in for a haircut with Darby and LOVED it. He is super professional, has great attention to detail, and has awesome conversation. I am so glad I went to see him because he transformed my hair from dull and blah to amazing. read more

I travel from West Village once a month to see Tommy, he gives an amazing mens haircut. A couple other things I like, they serve booze, play good music, and they use awesome products. Wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I've followed LP from salon to salon for several years. He's an artist with a big heart and a keen eye for how to cut curly, big hair. I see him every three to four months to work his magic. His cuts last and evolve. I highly recommend LP and WhiteRoom Salon. The space has a great vibe and upon arrival they offer you delicious wine and other beverages to enjoy. Very nice staff!! Beautiful space!! Top notch stylists. read more

I went to a few places in NYC before Whiteroom, which is now my go-to. Tommy is amazing, there's nothing better than a hairdresser you can trust to make you look and feel amazing. Highly recommend. read more

I have been in a lot of salons/barbers and nothing really compares to this place. With such welcoming people as soon as you walk in, to the complimentary drinks, (alcoholic/non alcoholic) to getting your hair cut, to leaving, everything just flowed so well. It's called whiteroom for a reason, everything is white, clean, and modern. My fantastic hair stylist was LP, when I sat down I had no clue what I wanted, he really worked with me and made suggestions and asked questions along the way which made me feel very comfortable. My hair turned out AMAZING and I am very thankful I went here and even more thankful that LP is a true artist. The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet. I highly recommend!!! read more

I have been going to Elisabeth for color for atleast a couple of years now and finally realized I should write a review after going from highlights, to platinum, to making my way back to more natural highlights. When I went from platinum to a more natural blonde, it was a work of art. It is honestly surprising to me that there could even be 1 star reviews for Whiteroom as she has always worked with me to get my hair to cooperate (my hair not cooperating has been a thing since i started dying it). Yes I could be there for hours, but its all in making sure my hair looks the way I am hoping, which includes always asking me how I feel about it, and adjusting it if need be. The worst is getting your hair colored, being in a chair for hours, and not feeling like there is any opportunity to express dissatisfaction. If I ever left there feeling unsatisfied, I have no doubt that she would happily help me in fixing it. Finding someone to trust with blonde hair is a true feat, and Im definitely here to stay. read more

This a great Salon and I highly recommend it. I have struggled to find a good hairstylist since moving to New York (from London) and found a lot of places (including Bumble & Bumble etc) were very expensive yet delivered average haircuts. I have been back here a few times now and have always bee really happy with the cut. I get my hair cut by Tommy and would recommend this place for anyone looking for a solid haircut read more

i'm so happy with my cut and highlights! thank you so much :) haven't had a hair salon experience like this in a very long time, you guys just rock. plain and simple. read more

LP is the best! After trying multiple salons and hairdressers, I was recommended to LP. He's been cutting my hair for over a year now. I do not know what I'd do with my hair without him! Love ya LP! read more

This is my first time writing a review on Yelp ever. That's how great this place is, specifically LP. Actually, I'm not sure how to write this review without sounding like I am exaggerating or straight up lying. I had only the vaguest idea of what I wanted but ended up with hair that I hadn't even known was possible for my type of hair (long wavyish straight, Asian, does not listen to what I tell it to do; now a bouncy, casual lob). LP is super attentive to what your hair type is, your general style and overall look, and he makes tiny adjustments throughout the cut and asks for your feedback to make sure it's perfect. It was like watching a sculptor. I'm so happy. He's also really nice and fun to talk to. Without a doubt my new go-to. read more

Beautiful salon BUT WAY OVERPRICED!! Made an appointment for ombré and left with my hair looking the same after sitting on that chair for 4! Hrs.. (paid $400!). read more

Had my hair cut here by LP two weeks ago. He is one of the only stylists who has ever listened to exactly what I wanted, and who has given me as much in turn. He explained to me what would work best with my hair and my features, and how we could achieve the exact look I wanted, before going over what he was going to do. Additionally, he is very kind and personable, and easy to hold a conversation with for the duration of your cut. read more

I've followed Elisabeth from salon to salon for the past 10 or so years. I highly recommend her for both her expertise in color and cuts! She's very skilled at understanding the look you are envisioning as well as letting you know her opinion on what will or wont work. The new space is beautiful and calming. Definitely check out Whiteroom before you can't get an appointment anymore! read more

Tommy is an artist. Simply beautiful cuts! There are many pricey salons in the city-- this one was worth it. Owned by a husband/wife team-- they are good people who give great service. Give them business. read more

Awesome people. Awesome space. Awesome results. This new spot is well worth your while. You'll get what you want, and more if you want more. They've also got good, healthy product with design sensibilities. Book an appointment before they are too hard to come by. read more

I first had my haircut with LP a few years ago at a Salon in Manhattan. He was so amazing. Really took the time to understand what I wanted. He actually was able to understand what I wanted better than I did. He was so patient and personable. He is truly an artist. Very precise and incredibly talented. I followed LP all the way to Brooklyn at this new salon and I was so pleasantly surprised to see what a beautiful space Whiteroom is. The space is gorgeous, they have a great range of products and best of all they have LP- who is a haircutting genius. Can't recommend LP and this salon enough. read more

This salon is average - offers staple haircuts and color but very very overpriced for a south williamsberg- Brooklyn. There are a total 4-5 stylist and two of them are the husband and wife that own the salon. Wife - Elizabeth who may seem to know her way around coloring gals with darker is always busy to take new clients. She takes about three plus hours to color your hair right and it may take a couple toners to get it right and you ll def be paying additional for those . Her hair color/ balayge will cost you anywhere from 350 -400 hundred dollars . Yea that's right you may not be in the city getting your hair done from the Redkin / bumble and bumble hair salon but they definitely make it seem like it with their prices. Even for touch up same price and even more at times. Although there press tab on their online site - is two of them being known for a hundred or less haircuts they they def are not practicing that at their own salon -haircuts are 115 plus and prices are constantly going up . Bottom line it is a no fail salon for cuts and color but very overpriced for location and service s. They are a simple mom and pop salon that offers descent service but very overpriced . Did I say overpriced !!!!! Oh my gosh forgot to mention their insanely prices products at apothecary that your constantly being encouraged to purchase . read more

I've been seeing Jennipher for almost 5 years and highly recommend her! I've never had a bad experience with her and she's super cool to chat with. I moved out of New York last year and every time I've gotten a haircut from someone else since the then it's been a nightmare. Resulting to ponytails everyday for months at a time. I've had several bad haircuts and was so relieved to finally get a chance to have her cut my hair yesterday for the first time in over a year. I don't know how she did it but she fixed my last bad haircut that I got a couple weeks ago. After my bad experiences and coming here yesterday to have her cut my hair I will never let anyone cut my hair again. I swear I will fly to New York from Denver every chance I get just to get a haircut from her because I know that my hair won't be butchered! Shes so good that when your hair grows out it still looks good. She takes her time and does it right and is very good about fixing other people's mistakes. She's had to do it a couple times for me. She's great and the salon in super comfy too! Good location and the products they use are top of the line and smell so good. The haircut was $96 and worth every cent. I've paid about $30 for my last 4 haircuts and none of them were worth it so I would rather wait months to get a haircut from her than to have my hair butchered over and over again. Once you have her cut your hair you will be 100% satisfied. Jennipher if you're reading YOU ARE THE BEST! Thank you and see you next time I'm in New York read more
