I don't trust people to do my hair very easily. Not that my hair is special or anything, I just hate spending money on people doing a shit job. So I was careful in my search that lead me to WHITEROOM. These guys know what they're doing. They've skillfully curated a boss team of intuitive, creative professionals who listen properly and openly to who you are before they make their confident professional choices. I felt like I was collaborating with people who know what they're doing, which is surprisingly rare in the salon scope, I've come to realize. They're thorough, passionate, and practical, which I really appreciate. Christina is an excellent, innovative and passionate colorist who nailed what I needed with care, enthusiasm and subtlety. LP is a brilliant cutter who clearly held space for nuance while giving me a bold and elegant cut... meanwhile I didn't lose a ton of length, which is always a fear when your hair is as stressed out as mine was. Most importantly, Taylor gave me one of the best god damned head massages I have had in a long time. Come on, let's face it- that's one of the main reasons to get your hair done, right? On top of that, the atmosphere is open and welcoming, everyone I met on that day seemed to have a healthy sense of humor and a genuine kindness. What more could you want? You won't go wrong with WHITEROOM. read more

Whiteroom is the best salon and beauty shop in NYC! Tommy has cut and styled my impossible curly hair and made it manageable for years, and Elizabeth is a color wizard. Tommy always listens to my weird ideas and is collaborative about the look I'm hoping for, then brings me down to earth with how he can give me the best cut that won't require me to go nuts with daily maintenance. The price for a cut and style is totally fair, especially for somebody as experienced as Tommy, and especially for NYC, and especially because the cut is so good I only need to go in a few times a year. I also love stocking up on products like sachajuan beach spray and rms uncover up, or beautiful indie-designed hair clips from the apothecary section. Support local, independent Brooklyn businesses! GO SEE MARIA!!!! She absolutely slayed my hair and surpassed my expectations, especially with the difficult color idea I wanted to achieve with half bleach blonde and half reddish brunette hair! Bonus for the fact my hair isn't damaged after seeing her. I've been use to people destroying my hair with bleach over the years but she makes sure my hair is taken care of. She's also fabulous to talk to for hours sitting in her chair with a very easy going attitude. I'd recommend anyone her way after seeing her twice now. Extremely happy to say I found my longterm Brooklyn hair stylist!! read more

I've been following LP for the past several years and he has now landed at this great new salon in Williamsburg. It's bright and airy and the staff is wonderful. LP is awesome!!! He gives me the best cut and blow dry and I'm very particular about my hair. You know it's a good cut when your hair looks good even when you don't style it. Don't walk, run to LP if you want to look good! read more

Elisabeth is the best. I don't even have any other words to describe her! She's been cutting my hair for over 10 years and I've followed her to every place she's ever cut! Even her house! Thank you for saving my hair time and time again. You are a babe. Congratulations on being your own boss, lady! read more

Tommy reached out right away with a lot of options, and I ended up coming back in to have him cut my hair. I showed him an inspo photo and mentioned the same problems I was having (hair weight, wanting a change and east maintenance). I LOVE my new cut as well as the products recommended. I was able to recreate the style the next morning fairly easily. :) Thanks, Tommy! I will definitely come back to see Tommy next time I want a style change, and will try Jennipher against for maintenance between cuts. I do recommend coming in when you're not rushed! read more

I have been seeing Elisabeth for color for few years now. She is a true artist and able to match the color to your face complexion and color. I get a lot of compliments when I see Elisabeth. Overall she is very attentive and pays attention to the details. Painting hair is an art and should be taken seriously as one wrong move can damage the hair. Elisabeth doesn't overdue with bleach of which leaves your hair shiny and smooth. The ambiance is very nice and clean. Overall all staff are amazing. I have also started to get a cut with LP and he is very talented hairdresser as well. I feel happy and content leaving this salon every time I go. Keep up the amazing job! read more

Very nice place. I had Devon and LP work on my hair, and they took a all-encompassing, scientific approach to cutting it. They asked me habits about my hair (such as how I always bring it over my shoulder) and my goals for it (how I want to grow it out along with my bangs and what types of layering I want) and took them into account when cutting it. It was really impressive, and both of them have such casual, fun, attitudes. I've honestly never felt so comfortable and assured that I was in good hands sitting in a salon chair. read more

Went here based on positive reviews. Darby did an amazing job giving me a fringe. I am so happy with results and will definitely come here again ! read more

Average haircut at above average prices. I've gone three times now and every time I've thought "this is ok" i told the hairdresser today that I felt like there was no change in the cut and she got visibly annoyed that I wanted her to take more bulk out. Tried to get rid of me by saying "it'll be better at your next haircut" which is what i was told the last two times. Been fooled 3 times by two stylists there. read more

i will HIGHLY recommend this place to any and everyone!!! The people at Whiteroom are seriously amazing. I recently moved into the neighborhood and needed a new hair salon. The vibe and decor initially caught my attention (it's really beautifully designed), and I thought, anyone who would put the effort into designing such a beautiful salon surely would ONLY hire the best, and luckily i was RIGHT!! I got a single process color and cut. Both were fantastic. LP did my cut and I can honestly say it was one of the best cuts I've ever had. He took such care, was so knowledgable and detail oriented. If you're looking for someone who truly cares and wants to make you look your best go to LP 100%!!! read more

This salon is fantastic! Elisabeth is a miracle worker! I had a horrific dye job done at a highly rated NYC salon and desperately needed some help, my hair has never been so awful and I've always taken really good care of my hair. Luckily Elizabeth fixed it right up on my first visit. I can't believe how much better she made my hair look after the first round! My hair is on the mend and looks better than I could have hoped for. Everyone is really friendly, very good at what they do and the salon itself is very modern, clean and beautiful. They also sell really great products. I'm so lucky to have this salon close to where I live. read more

LP is a GREAT cutter ! This is the first haircut I've had as adult woman in a very long time, where I don't need to blow dry ! My hair was also damaged from highlights, and it's now looking great. Ray is also a great colorist ! Great place and worth the cost. Really nice feel to the salon. read more

Whiteroom is your one stop shop for anything hair / beauty related. Let me give you the run down on what you need to do to achieve the best looking hair you'll ever have. 1. Cut - Tommy Lovell has been cutting my hair for about ten years now and there is no one else that I would trust. I've had everything from long layers to a blunt bob and Tommy has not disappointed. He's also really honest and will really help you make your decision on what's doable and what's not doable. 2. Color - Elisabeth has changed the game for my double process. My hair has never been in as good condition than it has been since Elisabeth has taken over. I never have any brass or grey tones, it's always the perfect beige color. Elisabeth is also really honest on what can be done - she doesn't just say 'yes' to everything I ask for..she's knows what's best. 3. The products - I use many products that come from the salon that have changed my hair and Elisabeth and Tommy suggested them to me (not too many either..this is not a a pushy environment) Overall - I'd say that Whiteroom is a welcoming, fun, honest salon that knows what they're doing. I guarantee you would leave happy and better looking that when you came in. read more

LP is a talented stylist and great conversationalist as well. I always feel welcome at the Whiteroom.

The best!! Elisabeth does amazing color and Tommy gives a great cut. I travel from the upper west side just to see them because they are amazing. As a plus, I also get my beauty fix in the little apothecary. Dangerously good! read more

Darby is the best!!! He was super patient and thorough and looked at all my references for the hair I wanted and did an amazing job! Then the next week I wanted to come back to go even shorter and he was super accommodating and sweet about it. I've never had great experiences with getting my hair cut in the past, but now that I've found Darby + WR I won't go anywhere else :) read more

Wow! I love this salon. They were able to get me in for a last minute (first time) appointment and the experience was amazing. Christina is a color wizard, she gave me exactly what I was looking for, and was chill and fun. The place has a great buzz, but still manages to be relaxing. Perfect music and inspiring team. The front of the space has lots of great products that I'm sure I'll be buying on repeat visits and they offer drinks too. I'll be back! read more

Awesome experience. Everyone there is very friendly and welcoming, and will go the extra mile to ensure everything is perfect. LP gave me the best haircut while respecting my wish to keep my length, paying attention to every detail. Then Meghan took care of my first ever hair color, she was at the same time super cool and friendly and super professional, which was great given how anxious I was about something that was totally new for my hair! Even when something unexpected happened she completely handled it. To sum up, in this salon you'll find skilled, talented hairdressers who will take great care of you in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I've now found "my" salon in NYC! :) read more

I got a haircut by LP yesterday and I was very impressed. He took time to understand what I like/dislike and seek for details. The result is beyond my expectations. He gave life back to my very damaged and tangled hair and I look like a new person when I walked out of WHITEROOM. read more

Darby gave me the best haircut of my life... he is so talented and incredibly friendly. I will be returning!

Amazing service. Darby is the best. Professional and I left getting what I wanted and more.

I booked Christina for my dye job and didn't find her to be worth the $400+ (over $500 incl tips). We were going to lighten my hair and after expressing my desire for Olaplex to ensure little damage to my hair, she gave her opinion that since my hair is pretty healthy I wouldn't see a difference with Olaplex. Ok. Then later when she checked how the lightening is going on my hair, she realized she was too aggressive with the bleach. My hair feels like straw now. I've had my hair lightened over a year ago at a different (& considerably less expensive) salon and didn't walk away with dry, straw hair. Because she lightened my hair significantly, my color came out pretty bright. Brighter & more damaged than I wanted. read more

THE ABSOLUTE BEST! I've gone back and forth between Tommy and Elisabeth for a little over 4 years now. Every time I leave even more impressed than the last. Although I love a great cut, my favorite part is the Apothecary, I always leave with a little something/ a lot of somethings. The moment you walk in you are greeted with a cheerful hello & offered a beverage (I always opt in for a red wine). From there you can chill in the store before heading back to the salon for a cut/color. Overall the staff are really cool, the music is always on point and I always feel welcome :) read more

I found Tommy almost 5 years ago when he was at Woodley & Bunny. I have really curly hair and had horrible experiences all over NYC with hairstylist. Enter Tommy, I started by trimming bangs, then hair, then a full haircut. He is patient and fantastic. When he opened WHITEROOM, I decided to go for the full chop. Pixie cut on curly hair, thought it was impossible and Tommy delivered. He is wonderful. At this new place, he is calling the shots and the vibe is relaxed. Love it. Yay! read more

Whiteroom - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Being extremely fussy about my hair it's always a chore trying to find a new colourist. Through several recommendations I finally paid Christina a visit at white room and I am elated! Her knowledge of the products, colour placement (which has always been an issue for me as I like it natural!) and understanding of my vision means I will NOT be going anywhere else... THANK YOU Christina, see you in 6 weeks! - if not before for a trim! (She also cuts!) xxxxxxx read more

Best haircuts in New York. Really relaxed environment. Great staff, even better stylists. Beer, coffee or whatever else you want. And Tommy Lovell is an absolute master at his craft. He's been cutting my hair for about 7 years now, starting at Woodley and Bunny before they closed down. This is his place now and it's run exactly like you'd want. I have no idea what's wrong with the couple of people who gave it negative reviews, but they probably voted for Trump. read more

I've been a loyal customer to Tommy for about 4 years. I've followed him from his days at Woodley & Bunny till now because he's the best damn hairstylist I've found in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint neighborhoods. He's fast, friendly, consistent, and can keep a good conversation. I used to show him photos of what I wanted and he'd deliver or be honest when it wouldn't work with my hair. Lately, I trust his talent and let him cut. Better yet, with Whiteroom, he's calling the shots and you can see it in friendly employees, absence of pretentiousness, and chic new salon. I highly recommend. read more

I've been seeing Jennipher for almost 10 years now for a reason. Starting seeing her when I moved to New York in 2010 at Woodley & Bunny, and now at White Room for the past 4/5 years. She's amazing at what she does, very talented and she's friendly and never disappoints me when she cuts and styles my hair. I live in Denver now and literally fly across the country to get my haircut by her 1-2 times a year atleast. She has ruined getting hair cuts by anyone else for me because no one that has cut my hair ever does as good of a job as she does. In fact, anytime I give in and let someone else cut my hair I am never satisfied. Thank you Jennipher for always being such a boss at your craft! Highly recommend her and White Room to any and everyone! read more

My hair never looks better than when I leave Whiteroom. Christina is an artist when it comes to highlights- the most natural, soft looking highlights I've ever had. LP cuts my hair and he just *gets* it. 100% worth the time and money. Super friendly front desk staff and great atmosphere too! read more

Everything was super easy, relaxed and how I had hoped. Tommy took exactly what I said and made it happen very quickly. The place has an awesome minimal vibe and complimentary drinks which makes everything that much better. This is one of, if not the best cut I've had in NY. I'd highly recommend Whiteroom and Tommy for any cut. read more
