Sat down at counter, usually a reliable strategy for quick service. Totally and completely ignored for 20 minutes despite multiple attempts at eye contact with various hostesses and waitresses including the one serving the 2 guys right next to me and the hostess who brought a big breakfast plate out, set it down next to me, and walked around the counter to eat her breakfast. Have never seen anything like it. Used to be my favorite spot years ago when I lived here. What a disappointment. No excuse, wasn't that busy. Just pathetic. read more

You can always count on the Whitehall Diner for a solid meal. I love the food here and definitely have some favorites. I love their breakfast and the coffee is really good. The soups are delicious and my favorites are the chicken soups (chicken noodle, chicken and rice, chicken orzo, etc.) I often crave their BLTA, which is a BLT with Avocado. The meal comes with chips and a pickle but fries can be substituted for an extra charge. I've been going to this diner since I was little, and my family and I continue to return. read more

The service was fine. The diner was very gross. It makes me NOT want to come back!!! The booth we got stuck in had dead flies on the blinds, and wall. We moved to another booth, but it was completely identical with a ton of crumbs on the floor. No one was sweeping the floor or vacuuming the carpeted area. I don't often write reviews let alone negative views but I had to for how bad this place was. Even after complaint to the owner I was told that nothing could be done. A plate of fries and three chicken fingers -,wait for it - $10. Fries burnt and the lettuce under the chicken was slimy and brown. Pass this one up for sure. read more

Years ago it used to be good. I don't know if they changed hands, but the last few times, I've eaten there the food was either not tasty or cold. The service was bad. The server never comes back to see if you need anything. They make the bus people clean the bathrooms instead of bussing tables, so that is at least good. You know the restrooms are clean. You are better off eating at home. read more

The best diner in whitehall! I usually order breakfast, so chocolate chip pancakes with eggs and homefries. They also have really great traditional dinners, like think of the stuff your grandma makes. On Friday night they have homemade Mac n cheese with stewed tomatoes, unfortunately you have to go pretty early (like 6pm) or they run out of it. read more

We love this place! Every time we come we are greeted with smiles and great service! Even during their dinner rush, they are attentive and polite, even though you can tell they are stressed out. The longest we ever waited was 10 minutes during rush hour to be seated. The prices are not too terrible considering the food is awesome! read more

My dad used to take me here when I was younger, and I was really disappointed when I came back. It honestly sucked.

Tonight my waitress was Tracy. She got annoyed when she finally came by to see how we were doing that i mentioned I would have liked my salad prior to my meal..She proceeded to defend what they "normally" do with an entree, she would have...(we got sandwiches w fries, I ordered the salad separate...She didn't want to listen to me . I told her i like to eat my my fries first while hot..now have it all together..i assumed salad didn't need be requested prior..she offered to "heat up" the plate but that doesn't make good fries either...By the time I was done my salad, my husband done his entire plate..so i picked at my lukewarm fries myself while tracy never came back to see how we were..she gave the table next to us their check whom came in after us while we sat there..i drank my husbands water, she never came back to offer refill, she putzed around filling the coffee machine, etc, & waited & catered on her other tables..I could see through this..She wasn't apologetic when i asked for a to go container for an untouched sandwich (cold)..& brought a container so small for my sauce said they didn't have another, she stated that i didn't need all that sauce anyway!.(she culdve used a sml soup container)..i told her I would pack it, she reached over me & i had to snatch the bowl of sauce away that i was pouring! I told her i would do it!! waiters need to take criticism if they want to take home more tips..last time my male waiter got upset that had to bring me out my side of veg that he forgot, then i was done my entree he took so long then he got upset i asked them packed to go.. ...the staff does not seem very professional for the image they are trying to portray..they dress inconsistent..hostess/cashier, short dresses, tight black pants, or jeans and bedroom style plaid slippers on one w an apron, .. ..i don't think im going back there..the food is Regular., i like service. This has been the go-to diner for me and my wife for about seven years. I have yet to have a bad meal here! Almost everything on the menu tastes homemade and fresh, and the desserts are great! Their menu has a wide variety and they serve breakfast all day. Service is usually top-notch, but occasionally we get a sub-par waitstaff. I guess that is to be expected in the service industry, though. Sadly they changed their hours and are no longer 24/7, but are still open pretty late. read more

Hands down, the WORST diner experience I have ever had. We stopped in to this diner after going to the movies. We ordered a decaf tea and two sodas. The waitress brought them out and took our order. A burger and fries, a gyro and a mile high meatloaf dinner. The burger came out burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. The burger was like a child's burger on a regular bun. Very tiny. (even though this was a full sized meal) And the fries were cold, and limp soaked in old grease and smelled like nasty fish. (turned my stomach as well as everyone at the table). The gyro was....ok. The mile high meatloaf came out cold and undercooked. The waitress (a red headed older lady) did not come back to the table to refill drinks or to ask how our dinners were or to ask if we needed anything else. The only time she came back was put the check on the table. When something was mentioned to the lady behind the cash register about the food and she was asked if she would eat the food if it came out that way to her she said nothing. But she shook her head no. The service was definitely not there and the food was overall horrible. I stopped in the bathroom before I left. There were signs on the door that you only see while your going to the bathroom stating you have to continue pushing the flush button because the toilets buttons were broken. After about 25 pushes it finally flushed. I would NOT RECOMMED this place to anyone. This was our first and last visit to this diner. So disappointing and nasty on so many different levels. read more

My friend and I decided to get coffee and a snack after I got off work, so we decided to go to a diner and we knew the Whitehall Diner was 24 hours. Since I am a waitress myself I understand having late tables, so I try to be courteous to servers and not sit all night and not order anything. We both had coffee with some French fries and I decided to order tiramisu. I had looked at the dessert case and it looked good. And I get tiramisu everywhere so I know what it's supposed to look like. I was served a pile of mush on a plate. The first thing the waitress says is "don't worry it tastes good." I couldn't believe she would serve a table something that looked so unappetizing. So I asked her to remove it from the bill and apologized. She proceeded to yell at me saying that the tiramisu was fine and that she wouldn't remove it from the check. I told her I was surprised she would ever serve that to a table. I have been to the Whitehall diner many times with my family but the way this waitress yelled at me was so unprofessional and I won't be returning. read more

Went here the last two mornings for breakfast because we were doing way too much cooking for a birthday party to bother with breakfast as well. Had a very different experience both days. Saturday morning had quick food, very delicious, and absolutely superb service. Our waitress was efficient, friendly, sincere, and asked to refill our beverages on more than one occasion. She got a $10 tip on a $30 check - she was that good. Went back in Sunday morning, and wish we had asked to wait for a table in her section. The waitress we got this morning was so fake nice, that we could instantly tell she was disappointed to wait on us. I had to ask for my water with lemon a second time because she forgot it, and when she brought my water there was still no lemon in it. She never asked to refresh my coffee - or any of our beverages for that matter. I think she came to our table a total of three times and dropped the check. She got $4 on the same $30 check. The food here is good, but we learned the service can go both ways. We'll go back - but next time we'll wait for the server that knows what she's doing. read more

My husband and I have been die -hard whiethall diner customers for years now! We cannot say enough good things about it. The food is above and beyond what you can get in any resturant!! It's always served the way you'd would want your food served.The resturant is always clean and bright and very inviting! From the time you walk in the door you feel like your the most important person there. You're greeted almost immedietly by a smiling host or hostess-then you are greeted by a smiling waitress and given their undivided attention.You never feel as if they're trying to rush you. It just has the atmosphere that every resturant shold have.The food is out of this world! We have never had a problem with anything we've eaten here.If it's supposed to be hot--it's hot-- if you order a salad--it's fresh--if you order ice cream-- it's frozen.Anytime someone wants to get together for coffee,I always say without hesitation--" Let's get together at Whitehall Diner !" For me there is no other place to go.Everyone should try THE WHITEHALL FAMILY DINER !!! You really feel like your among friends when you're there.
