Another excellent experience as a family with the service at White Spot. Our server Hanah was incredibly attentive and great with our kids. All the servers passed zero judgement if our toddlers were running around, jumping in the other empty booths. Food was average. We also love the option for bottomless fries and potatoes! Although I will say my second serving of potatoes had considerably less crisp, tasted a little more like simple boiled potato. I do like the thick fries that have a thick crisp. First time for me to order through Uber Eats from White Spot in Kitsilano. I ordered the fish and chips and cheese cake. The delivery bag was intact with White Spot tape keeping the bag securely closed. The food was delicious. The fish tender on the inside and the batter was tasty and crunchy. The chips complimented the fish. There was also coleslaw with crunchy cabbage and carrots and not to much dressing to suffocate the cabbage and carrots. The cheese cake was fresh, and cheesy. The blueberry and whip cream on the side went well with the cheese cake. They included ketchup, vinegar, tartar sauce and utensils. I have dined at White Spot in Kitsilano since 1991 and every experience has been positive. The staff are friendly and respectful. The restaurant is clean. The one on Mt.Newton X road and Pat Bay. It looks sketchy from the road but inside it's really clean. No gummy tables or filthy floors. Dry ribs appie - yummm. Broccoli chicken curry bowl yum too. Server was really nice and good at her job. The only negative maybe was the hostess who appeared clinically depressed and not on meds. Always enjoy White Spot. I have been to this location many, many times over many years, and it is generally excellent in both food quality and service. I haven't been in for a couple of years due to Vancouver covid rules about dining in, plus the fact that now, even though the restrictions are lifting, the prices have sky-rocketed beyond reason all over town (and probably everywhere else). For me, living on the senior's pension, $20+ for a sandwich (beverage, dessert extra) is far beyond my limited ability to pay. Going out for lunch used to be a very common practice, but now it's very rare and only for special occasions. Too bad! It used to be a fun, sociable thing to do. However, I recently heard that for a very limited time White Spot is offering HALIBUT and chips, one of my very favourite meals! Not only are there no longer fish and chip shops anywhere in my vicinity, many of them no longer offer halibut because of its shocking cost! (I recently saw fresh halibut in a supermarket for $68 a kilo, so it won't be on my dinner table any time soon!) I decided to go for this WS offer and ordered it on UberEats. The order arrived during the requested time window, all packed in paper/recyclable packaging, which was great. I have to say I was astounded that my Uber order was delivered on a bicycle!!! but at least it was on time. I also have to say that when I think of Uber I think of cars, and would probably not order had I known my "should be hot food" would be blowing in the wind while hauled through traffic on a bike. The main thing is, the halibut was gorgeous and surprisingly large. Two pieces in a delicious batter, not greasy, with a good load of chips, cole slaw and tartar sauce (unfortunately it had too much dill; didn't eat it). Chips were a bit soggy and fish batter had lost some of its crunch due to its bike ride across Broadway, but that is somewhat to be expected with any food delivery. Unfortunately, there was a slim layer of uncooked batter on the fish, and that was disappointing. I love it when I bite through the crunchy batter into the flaky fish (minus the wet batter that wasn't cooked). Overall, though, I was thrilled to have halibut and chips again after about 3 years. It will no doubt be a long time before I enjoy it again, with prices like this: about $25 dine-in, over $27* for delivery. *Truth is, I had a $30 Uber credit and paid only the service charge, tax and tip, which totalled $15. So I'm not going to complain too much about any of it. Overall, if I'd had it at the restaurant I'm sure it would have been 5/5! See photo. Classic BC favourite, White Spot has been a solid family dining choice for 50+ years. Drive in with car service, cafeteria style dining has moved in with the times but still retains some of the original best dishes and charm. Broadway is one of the few car service options available which is nice to see, our larger group dined in. After a short wait we were seated and greeted. Our group ordered a variety of dishes which included fish and chips and the bc burger with endless fries. Zoo sticks with ranch dip were perfectly prepared and delicious. Chocolate milk shakes, a very large size with at least 2 full adult size glasses-YUM! I had clubhouse on sourdough and fries. Very good. The quesadilla's were also very good. For an informal family dinner at a reasonable price, this is a very good choice. Service was spectacular! read more

Been going to White Spot for over 50 years. Who hasn't ordered a pirate pack as a kid and then tried to float the boat... watching it eventually sink. In fact, this was the go to place for my buddies for breakfast on the day of their weddings. Menu has changed a bit as they are trying to compete with Cactus, Earls, Joeys.. If I want to get nostalgic, the BC Burger always hits the "Spot". Although the burger is of course shrinking over the last couple decades, I'm always satisfied and full. I've never been a big fan of their fries. It's not that they aren't good, it's that I prefer skinny fries. To each their own. However, I have always really liked the onion rings and the zoo sticks. I've never had bad inion rings, although during covid and for some time after, they didn't have onion rings. The zoo sticks can be hit or miss. Prior to covid it was usually more miss... either soggy and greasy or burned. But that was more at other locations. The Richmond location was the most consistent with this location and Kingsway also being good. Since covid, most locations have gotten much better and consistent. Also the fish and chips, beef dip, clubhouse and shrimp sandwich all are classics. Just miss the Chicken Picken. Service at most locations is usually good and relatively quick. If you go often enough, the servers will remember you. Also have to have the milkshakes. Thick and they give you the entire mixing cup. Only regular dessert I've tried is the apply pie. But the strawberry pie and the blueberry pie when in season and part of their special. So popular in fact that they have run out of the pies on occasion. There aren't too many chains in the Lowermainland still standing after 50 years. Just White Spot and Dennys. Woodwards, Eatons and Sears are long gone. New is better. Lunch at White Spot on West Broadway in Vancouver yesterday was a dark comedy of errors. Actually a nightmare since we had terrible service and the food was served incorrectly multiple times. It became a joke of let's guess how many times the server will fxxx up. Our server was named Kayley, and one mistake led to multiple mistakes. I ordered the BC Burger (Bacon Cheddar Hamburger) and my friend ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Donburi Bowl. For those of you who recently moved to British Columbia or are visiting Vancouver, some background information: The BC Burger (also known as the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger) has been a popular mainstay item on the White Spot menu for decades (probably over 50 years). The BC Burger has always been a hamburger, not a chicken burger. Mistake #1: Our food was served over half an hour after we ordered. Mistake #2: I ordered a Wildberry Bellini. Our server, Kayley, forgot about my beverage order until I asked for my beverage half an hour after I ordered it. Mistake #3: Kayley never offered to refill our water glasses or my friend's refillable iced tea. We had to ask for refills whenever she rarely came to our table. Mistake #4: I ordered the BC Burger with extra crispy onion rings. The onion rings were not extra crispy but I did not want to wait another half hour for them to cook another order. Mistake #5: The BC Burger was NOT the BC Burger. It was a chicken burger. Kayley, our server, argued that I had ordered the BC Burger. Yes, I ordered the traditional BC Burger with hamburger meat not chicken. All Vancouver patrons of White Spot know that the BC Burger is the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger. Not this chicken burger nonsense. And when I ordered, Kayley could have asked me whether I wanted a hamburger or a chicken burger, but she did not. Kayley grudgingly took my plate back to the kitchen. Mistake #6: Kayley brought my Bacon Cheddar Hamburger to our table. My friend asked her to bring a box to pack up my food because by this time, he had already finished his meal and I'm not happy to eat alone. But then another mistake happened. The new order was NOT a Bacon Cheddar Burger. I asked Kayley if the kitchen was serving the bacon separately from the burger? Remember, this is the BACON Cheddar Hamburger. The new order had no bacon inside the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger. She brought the bacon to me on a separate plate. The bacon looked shrivelled up and much smaller than the usual amount of bacon on the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger. I put all of my food into the box. I was no longer hungry because the entire dining experience was a disaster. Kayley comped my Wildberry Bellini. Any other restaurant would have comped the entire meal for so much inconvenience, or at least the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger. We go to the West Broadway location of White Spot a few times a week and mistakes are occasionally made. But 6 mistakes in one meal? One mistake is forgivable. But 6 mistakes in one meal is unacceptable. There were 3 mistakes on just the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger. So many mistakes means that White Spot is either hiring the wrong servers. Or maybe White Spot does not want to serve the Bacon Cheddar Hamburger on its menu anymore even though it has been a popular mainstay item on the White Spot for decades. I threw out the entire box into the garbage later and bought sushi. I did not want to take a chance of White Spot food poisoning. Yes, it was a waste of money but better than dying from food poisoning. If you go the White Spot on West Broadway, make sure to request that Kayley is NOT your server. Unless you don't mind waiting half an hour for your food which will not be what you ordered anyways. read more

Came here on Sunday May 23rd. The young male host was extremely rude. I've worked in a lot of restaurants, and giving attitude to customers would never have been acceptable. Who ever hired him obviously didn't take the time to figure out that he should not be working in customer service. I have been eating at white Spot restaurants since 1965 they recently closed the one in West Vancouver and I now go to the newer one on Marine Drive in North Vancouver I go at least 3 times a week I have had bad experience the last two times I've been there first was breakfast I ordered and 35 minute later they delivered my food it was cold due to being insulin dependent I must take the insulin 15 minute before eating the hash browns was greasy and the back bacon was cold everything was just warm so a ate it when the waiter ask how was the food I told him he said it was the food runner was slow delivery I was not impressed. The next time I order the bundle a hamburger fries and a blueberry pie I told the waiter about my cold food that I had on the last visit so again I waited for my food to come and it was cold again could not believe it not only that but they got my order wrong no lettuce and tomato and I asked for Triple O sauce on the side I called the waiter over again they said it was the food runner not delivering the food as soon as it was put out They are definitely having issues and need to fix it read more

Came here for Sunday brunch after the Kits farmers market. Every time I come to White Spot, I'm surprised at how low the prices are. I got the Buttermilk Chicken and Waffle. It's sunny side up fried egg on top of buttermilk chicken on top of two savoury cheesy waffles, plus 4 strips of bacon on the side. The buttermilk chicken was good, the fried egg was not good...I just don't like eating half-cooked egg white because the texture grosses me out. The waffle was good, but because it sat under the egg and the cheesy sauce, it turned soggy and mushy quickly. My partner got the vanilla bean milk shake, and it was divine. It has a pure dairy ice cream taste, not the fake chemically flavoured sweet taste like at most other restaurants. read more

I always have negative thoughts about White Spots. But I have to say the Kitsilano one is one of the better ones. We came here for a family dinner and I really enjoyed the food. My mom said her Ribs was really done very well. The meat fell of the bone and was full of flavor. Her chicken was the same. The salad had the perfect amount of dressing. My sister ordered the same thing as well but the rib was honey garlic. She loved it. My other sister ordered fettuccine alfredo with chicken. She finished the whole thing and said it was delicious. I wanted something light and so I got the Chicken Quesadilla. Was tiny bit burnt but it was ok. Very yummy. I liked the fact when we walked in and they told us how long the wait was and how long the wait is going to be for the food. I just like how there is no surprise. This is definitely a plus. It's hard to please everyone. I did try some other local breakfast places but came back because of this..... consistency they are always consistent with good food. They have good portions. The sausages I had were not dinky tiny ones. The pancakes have excellent flavor. I recommend putting jam on top then covering with syrup. We were told by Colleen our server that smash browns are now bottomless so if you don't get full on the first round. The last bastion of Car hop service. Aka the Drive-in!! Only at select white spots. This one has it. It's a bit of Vancouver dining history to at least eat in your car the White Spot way. They slid a big tray of food between the two windows and you get to eat in the car!! Makes for a great steamy window environment! hah! Burger combos are great for this, but would advise not to get the soup. If you do, just don't spill it. If you are paranoid of spilling stuff, then you can dine inside. First off, yes, it was father's day afternoon and my party of 3 showed up without a reservation. There were a few parties ahead of us but we told the hostess that we had no seating preference and would be seated almost immediately in the lounge area. We sat down, were handed menus and then proceeded to wait 24 minutes before even seeing or being attended to by a server. During this period, we asked several staff who walked by if our server was available so that we could order. The first one told us they were not our server and our server would come by in a few minutes. 10 minutes after that, I asked another staff if we had a server assigned to our table and they said, "Of course there is a server for your table, we are just very busy. Your server will be by in 5 minutes." The most irritating thing was the complete lack of any sense of urgency shown by any of the servers or food runners. There were several huddled around the bar chatting and when they were bringing food from the kitchen to the tables or vice versa, they sauntered slowly. Having worked in a restaurant before, you know, when it's busy, you have to hustle. Eventually, our server appeared as if out of thin air. I had not seen her at all in the restaurant since we sat down so maybe she just started her shift? There was no apology for the delay, but we finally were able to order food. I ordered the cobb salad, my husband ordered the monty burger and my daughter ordered a pirate pack. I was told that they had run out of avocado for the cobb salad and asked if it would be ok if they just added some extra cherry tomatoes. Although, not a cost equivalent substitute, rather than further delay the meal and ask for a few minutes to make another selection ( and risk having the server leave only to not return again) I said that was fine. The server then took the order of the table seated behind us. Their food was served before ours, which I'm not entirely sure why, since we were seated first, and our order was taken first and fairly similar to theirs. The burger was standard as was the pirate pack. The cobb salad on the other hand was awful. I have never had a worst salad in my life. It can only be compared to a prepackaged salad you would get at a gas station convenience cold section. The bacon was in fact tiny pieces of cut up sandwich ham. The cheese was prepackaged, preshredded pizza topping cheddar. The dressing was a watery bland and mediocre caesar/ranch/blue cheese?? (I couldn't even tell) grocery store dressing. Just awful. When we first arrived I was excited for the server to serve me as he has serviced us before but the bartender who was coming on (Paola) became our server and she has served us before. I now regret coming to white spot. The service from her was more like being served at MacDonalds. She was more concerned about doing her bartender duties than attending the customer. When I ordered I ordered the burger, fries and onions rings. The burger came but no onion rings. I had to ask where they were. She was running around the employees area we can see as we were at the bar. She could've said I forgot to ring them in. I would have been happy. We are human - we all make mistakes. The burger was hot and delicious. As usually a white spot burger is. The fries were just right out of the fryer so they were crispy just like fries should be. This White Spot has changed its decor many times since I was a child, but it's still the same White Spot in my mind:) I used to come here after school and I would get all excited to park behind the restaurant and eat inside the car...they used to bring my pirate pak in this hug long tray that would stretch from my mom's driver window to the passenger window and I would go to the front and have my monty mushroom burger and strawberry shake on that ingenius "table"...how nostalgic I always get when I come here. ^_^ I always just want to order the pirate pak just for old times sake caue they bring it in this awesome pirate ship that you can take home after....but then I would be shy and opt out of it...It's not the same now if I ate inside the restaurant where everyone could see me with the pirate pak :) Just a little embarrassing. I can't say that I am an expert on the White Spot chain because this is pretty much the only one I have ever been to. I would not go out of my way to go to any other White Spot, but I have been to this one a lot. So what is it about this one that makes it so desirable? Proximity. I think everyone needs a "no-brainer" restaurant that is walkable from their home. If I am exhausted and don't feel like cooking or dressing up - "let's go to The Spot"! If the inlaws are in town and we need to go someplace where their extremely limited range of food "likes" can be met - " let's go to The Spot"! When our very young niece and nephew are with us- " let's go to The Spot"! What I have learned about their food is to stick to the basics. Whenever they have a special menu based on a foreign cuisine, you are foolish to expect any semblance to the authentic cuisine. Their burgers, beef dip, pot pie and fish and chips are consistently decent. I usually substitute the sides for a Spot salad which is really tasty, I love the sunflower seeds and dried cranberries on top. I will also substitute with their yam fries which are very good. This restaurant at times can be very busy. It is best to avoid coming between 5:30 - 7:00 because it is popular with the seniors and people with kids, who tend to dine earlier. A lot of the servers at this location have worked here for quite a few years and we have found the service to be adequate for this type of dining experience. Overall, I come in with very limited expectations so I never leave disappointed. read more

Since I've been in Vancouver I can't help but see multiple White Spots every day. It didn't seem like the kind of place I'd be interested in but a friend has long insisted that the burger and its Triple-O sauce are something to be reckoned with. My hungry stomach reminded me of that recommendation today as I drove past one of many White Spots (which is a funny name if you think about it). I ordered the Legendary Burger special which came with a Caesar salad and blueberry pie. My friend was absolutely right...one of the best burgers I've had in the city. The meat was done nicely and a good size (not too gigantic) and the buns were fluffy soft. I don't know what the sauce is made of but I think I now know why it's called Triple-O... but discretion compels me to keep silent ;) I was pleasantly surprised by White Spot, and although I probably wouldn't order anything else on the menu in the future, most of the items looked quite promising, especially for a chain restaurant. The manager seemed annoyed and disbelieving us, saying to us, "We served over 1000 patrons that day and you are the only complaints (or there were no other complaints)." The manager also had some attitude in her voice because she said she "didn't want to be dealing with all 4 of us sending her reports". That was very rude. My friend looked at me and I motioned to her to finish the call and forget further continuing the conversation. I kept mouthing to her, "Cut the call. Cut the call." I taught my friend just now how to Block Anu's work and cell phone number so she won't receive any further calls from Anu (Anu had left her two voicemails prior to this speaker phone call). But my friend gets any possible further phone calls on this, my family works for RCMP, so I can file for harassment if that does happen. We didn't want compensation or any gift (and we even re-iterated that point), but the manager kept sounding angry over the phone. Now, I don't think this place is worth reporting. I don't feel like helping others who give me attitude. But I will leave a review here of my experience: I came here on May 3rd with a group of 5 people for take-out. Four of us ordered. Three people out of the group had eaten nothing before this meal (me, my husband, a friend), and my husband and I ate nothing after. So this meal for my husband and myself was our one and only meal for that day (it was a busy day). About an hour after this meal, I felt a little discomfort but didn't think on it too much. But about 2-3 hours in when I got home, I started to feel slight cramping on my sides and lower back (at that point, I knew it was food poisoning because that's how I hurt when I get it). I also had to pay a few unlucky visits to the washroom. I had only hot tea at home to soothe my stomach. My husband's was much worse. At about 6 - 7 hours in, he had the painful stomach, nausea, and running to the washroom. I don't know whether this is food poisoning, or if the food handler at White Spot was sick and passed us something. Let me tell you this though: when you have food poisoning, the washroom is your BEST friend. I've uploaded a photo of my receipt so you can see the items we ordered and ate, but I've covered personal details with my phone's stickers. I don't have photos of my friends' receipts since their receipts are with them. I've texted my friends just now to see if they are sick too (it's 1am right now as I am typing this so I'm sure they are sleeping), and will update this review when they get back to me on their health status. I am so disappointed with this event. I usually like White Spot and I dine at the Richmond ones frequently, but this experience in Kitsilano was horrible. I don't hate on White Spot for this, but whoever was making or handling our orders, if you are reading this, answer this in your mind: a) Are you washing your hands? b) Are you sick and coming into work infecting customers? c) Did you rush our orders under-cooking the food or having food contamination happen? d) Are you knowingly serving dirty, expired, or old food, or not refrigerating items properly? Was anyone sick after eating at this White Spot location on May 3rd, Sunday afternoon? Send me a private message if you see this. We think it might actually be the Caesar salad, since this was the common thing we ate. My friends suspect the burger meat since we also ordered that as well. We ordered Take-Out and we were surprised at how extremely fast it came out, so I wonder if the meats weren't well done. Please note that the receipt I uploaded is not the only items we purchased. There was a total of 3 separate receipts, but I don't have access to the other two receipts since they belonged to my friends. [If you are not from the States this review won't make sense] Think of White Spot as half a step up for Coco's or Carrow's with a bar. It's a basic family restaurant with a general menu so that everyone can find something to eat. The real reason I like it is for the burgers. As someone who hails from California and thus knows what an In-N-Out burger tastes like, the burgers at White Spot are pretty good. Plus having bottomless fries that are decent also helps. Toss in a blueberry milkshake and I have my staple White Spot meal. I just sometimes wish it was a little cheaper. read more

Ugh. Avoid like the plague. Yes, they were packed, (which I guess, is a good thing) but they would not top up my gift card because I had purchased it at a different WS? (I wanted to INCREASE the amount, not decrease it) What the? So, let me get this straight, you won't take my money but want me to spend my money elsewhere? Isn't this like re-filling a card at SB? What planet are we on here? Oh right, the "I'm afraid of addition," one. (Sorry. I can only infer that's what the real issue was here.) And the only reason that they even KNEW that I purchased it elsewhere in the first place is because I showed them my receipt. Double ugh. So basically, I should have lied.
