    CHICKEN ADOBO
    Rose G.

We got three bowls: longanisa, adobo, and Sisig. The adobo didn't taste like authentic adobo I've usually had, although it's not too bad. The Sisig was very flavorful! The best was the longanisa with vinegar. It even had an egg which gave it the perfect pair. The only thing we weren't too happy about was the garlic rice. It didn't taste like garlic rice and had a bitterness to it. Ordering is outside at the window and there's outdoor seating. For parking, we had to find one on the street. Service was great also! We came on a Friday evening around 6pm and many of their items were already sold out. We'll definitely come back to try more though.

I'm a bit biased; but I love rice, garlic, and eggs. I was not expecting to like this place that much, but I would definitely come back. I would probably order ahead of time as we did wait a bit. It's outdoor setting so you have the very relaxed and chill vibe or Normal Heights.

    Chciken adobo

Food was dry, i ordered the chicken adobo plate. Egg was cold, chicken was ok, rice was dry and cold. It took 20 minutes to get the plate. I really have this place a try and won't ever recommend it. They couldn't even give me my plate to go which was the worst. I had to eat it here which i just threw in trash.

I have been here 3 other times before, usually when I can't drive to Mira Mesa or National City for better Filipino food. At first look the pork sisig was underwhelming. The pork was in big chunks of cubes and really tough to chew. It hurt the roof of my mouth chewing it. The flavor itself is NOT good, it feels like it was just thrown in some soy sauce and mayo. It had no citrusy taste whatsoever. This feels like eating day old pork with mayo and onions. The worst part is the fried egg on top was undercooked, the egg whites were clear and still runny! I was 2 bites in when I noticed the RAW egg white. got their lumpia also, that was very mid. I am frustrated to have spent money on this

    pork PORK SISIG

We tried this place recently -- my boyfriend got the pork sisig and I got the longanisa bowl. Both were pretty good, but nothing too special considering the price. The flavors were solid, and everything was cooked nicely, but for almost $50 total, it felt a little pricey for a small bowl of rice, egg, and protein. They actually gave me the wrong order at first (chicken instead of longanisa). When I asked, they said it was longanisa, but I ended up bringing it back and waiting another 10 minutes for the correct one. Overall, the food isn't bad -- it's tasty and satisfying -- just not something I'd go out of my way for. It's a cute spot with minimal seating, and I'd probably come back if I was nearby or craving longanisa, but not as a regular stop.

I've been eating at White Rice since their original location at Liberty Station. Their ube pandesal and ube jam are consistently their best item pairing and a personal 5/5 for me. I also like their different -silog options, including their tocilog & longsilog here, and my partner and I enjoyed them paired with their calamansi iced teas. Unforch they seem to be inconsistent with their food stock here! :'-( Was in San Diego for a week & there were about 3 instances throughout the week (Tues Wed Thurs) when we called to see if an item were in stock, and it was supposed to be in but was further delayed. This seems consistent with other reviews on here, and I recommend calling ahead to make sure what you want is available as a result. Side street parking + outdoor seating, and some cute Filipino decor at the order window.

    McDo Happy Meal

I tried the $9 McDo Happy Meal, which includes a longganisa slider, lumpia, and a drink. It was such a steal for a happy hour option. The longganisa slider was savory with a slightly sweet finish, and the lumpia came out hot and crispy. For drinks, I really enjoyed the ube milk tea. It had a bold ube flavor and just the right amount of sweetness without feeling overpowering. If you prefer something less sweet, I recommend the calamansi iced tea. It has a bright citrus taste that's super refreshing. We waited about 15 minutes for our food after ordering, which initially felt a little long. That said, everything came out steaming hot and fresh, so it ended up being worth it. The seating area is perfectly positioned for people watching. Overall, it's a fun, affordable spot that I'd definitely come back to.

It's a great use of a small space. I like the walk up window and outdoor seating. Every time I have been, they are always out of stuff. I tried to order the special posted on the window, it was out. My recommendation would be to not advertise it, if you don't have it. The food is made to order, the service was pretty quick. I tried the chicken adobo and it is a good amount of chicken. Overall, it's a little over priced in my opinion.

So good is tasty. I recommend the most popular ones. I had the chicken adobo, and that was definitely a hit. We were there on a weekday evening and felt the wait was too long. There are some tables, but this is a small take out joint. I recommend going when it's not dinner time

I've had white rice bodega many times, since they first opened up in Normal Heights. I absolutely loved the pork sisig bowl. I've pretty much tried all the other bowls - longanisa (a close second), lechon kawali, adobo, and mushroom/tofu sisig. The others were alright, so I always stuck with the pork sisig. Things have changed since they first opened. In the beginning we were offered a neighborhood discount. Eventually portions seemed smaller, and no more neighborhood discounts. Price increased $15 in 2023 to $16 in 2024. The discounts are nbd, but sad to see the portion decrease while the price increase, from the bigger black to-go containers to smaller cardboard bowls. I no longer live in NH, so I don't frequent white rice as often. I visited last week, first time in a long time. Surprised to see that a bowl is $17 and you now have to pay extra for an egg, $3 when I was ordering online for pick up. Disappointing, as that seems quite steep for an egg. Opted to fry my own egg at home to avoid paying $40 for 2 bowls, tax/tip not yet included. Quality has seemed to change a bit too? Wasn't as flavorful as I remember, and was a bit on the dry side. Service seemed meh now, as my bf said the kid at the front looked up from his phone as he approached the window to pick up and said "yo" and nothing else. Lol. Miss the friendly faces and service we used to see often.

I WANTED TO LIKE THIS PLACE (2 stars) ... BUT as a Filipino it just doesn't manifest up to what my heart wants it to be. 1) First time I actually didn't drive by the place was during Taste of Adam's Avenue. I was thrilled to see it on the list and as I lined up for a sample we had a choice of sweet corn bread OR beans. Nothing Filipino related and thought that event would have been perfect to introduce the restaurant and Filipino food to the community. That was a disappointment. 2) Second time I planned to order a meal but then didn't want to spend the price for something I can easily make at home (and likely better). But I did stop in for some Shanghai Lumpia and THAT was a disappointment. If Shanghai Lumpia can't meet up to expectation then there is no encouragement to buy anything more here. The Shanghai lumpia had ~6 pieces and they were kind of soggy, not much filling, the filling inside was meh in flavor, and the oil it's fried in tasted old as if it needed a change out. I do give them kudos for making their residency in Normal Heights and tapping the crowd there but I'm not drawn to come and eat my own people's food. Sorry, I really did want to like this place but it's falling short for me.

It was my first time trying White Rice Bodega. I've passed by We ordered the ube pandesal, sisilog and longganisa. I also tried the calamansi iced tea. Everything we had was AMAZING. As compared to many other filipino places though, the servings are smaller, but not to the point that I believe it was overpriced. They cook everything to order so it took a bit for food to come out, but the staff were all very friendly and provided recommendations as we asked. White rice bodega IS a bodega so everything is just outside. There were ample seats with umbrellas, but it is fairly exposed to the streets of university heights. One time we came back though and it was really weird--they were open and all but they told us they had no food due to a delivery issue. It seems like a total one off but was honestly very confusing to me why they remained open in general. Overall, still really love this place and can't wait to try more food!

Delicious fast casual Filipino food! The staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations / questions. The flavors are bold and the portions are large. 10/10 recommend and will be back to try more items from the menu. There's no indoor portion of the restaurant but a little outdoor seating and great option for takeout.

$16 for a bowl with 1 egg, chicken, and mostly rice (it's a rice bowl sure)

The cornbeef with garlic rice, longanisa with garlic rice, and the chicken tocino with garlic rice was really good but I was honestly disappointed with the Lumpiang Shang-hai. The place is called lumpia factory but the lumpia wasn't good at all. The texture was mushy on the inside and none of us really even ate it anymore after trying a couple of bites and ended up wasting it. The pork adobo was also wasted because it was honestly TOO SWEET for our liking. It wasn't a good flavor and tasted also like they used liver in the sauce which we personally didn't like. Everything else was good. We enjoyed the music and the vibe while we were in there tho. We would come back but not for the adobo and lumpia but for sure for the WINGS.

And most of the ones I have tried does not compare to moms cooking. Because of mom's health she no longer cooks.... Husband was so kind listening to my food cravings and doing research, he found this place. First, this place is located in strip mall mostly made of food stops. Secondly and importantly, the parking is no joke! Come early and watch where you park. The parking is not plenty and the area is narrow, making it a challenge to see when pulling in or out of a parking space. When you get out of your car your sensory will be on overload on the aromas that seem to hook you by the nostrils! You walk in the restaurant and you will see the tables most likely all taken. How it works is you walk up to food counter and select what items you want. They offer different platter options. It was a lot going on up the food menu on the wall above the staff. Behind the counter it is well staffed so even though the line may be long it moves pretty quickly. Husband and I decided to go with a two item platter. My platter I choose half and half (rice and noodles) . My two items were chicken adobo and diniguan. We got an order of lumpia too. I found the chicken adobo to be pretty good! The chicken portion was pretty good. With chicken adobo there seems never to be enough of the sauce to saturate the rice. The diniguan to my surprise passed the test! It was tasty and had the right balance of flavors! I saved half to share with mom and she liked just as well. A plus for us is they serve seltzer (soda water)! They do have a self serve water station off to the side. The lumpia was good, but I probably would try one of the skewers next time. I forgot to mention that we had to ask to share a space at a table with another couple as there were no more open tables. They gladly shared. There are not outdoor seating. I would definitely visit this spot again.

We ordered the pork sisig and adobo lumpia and were told that it would be 20-25 minutes. Totally get that they're hand-rolled to order and that it's only one person. But if we're the 4th order, then you should have a decent idea of how long it's going to take you to prep and serve to set expectations accordingly. Over an hour later we got our food which was great - crispy and well filled. The garlic sauce was nice and punchy. The adobo was a little bland and didn't make a lot of sense with the sweet chili sauce. I think a traditional vinegar, garlic, and pepper dip would have been more true to the OG flavor. I'd rather be told it'll be an hour and then have it ready sooner if that manages to happen, but over-promising on the wait time is just a bummer. I'm not sure if I'd try Lia's again.

Tender, savory, and hit all the right notes Garlic rice tied everything together perfectly Next time, I'm diving into: Sisig Crispy Pork Belly Lechon ...and maybe go full experience with a Kamayan feast (banana leaves + hands-on eating... real deal) Tip for thought: All the Filipino Uncles play Chess during the day and Singers come out to sing on their Karoke Machine If you're in the area, this spot is DEFINITELY worth checking out Pull up, support local, and come hungry One last thing, if you know any singers that love to compete. There's a singing competition April 24, 2026 from 8pm - Midnight. See flyer for more info!

I eventually found it and when I got there, I met KuJo and he was SUPER nice and down to earth. That alone won me over as a future repeat customer. Ambiance: Gave me that old school feeling of nostalgia as I grew up in the area and it brought back memories even though this is a new establishment. Overall, this is a must try and if you have a chance to meet KuJo, be sure to say hello. Hes a super friendly guy!!!

R&B FILIPINO CUISINE @ MIRA MESA…read more Parking was super easy since there's parking available right out front, and there were plenty of spots when I came on a Friday evening after work. Just note that they close pretty early, around 5:30 PM on weekdays and 4 PM on weekends, so definitely plan ahead if you're trying to make it there later in the day. The restaurant is located in a busier area with other restaurants and businesses nearby, but once you walk in, it has a really chill and welcoming vibe. They have a bunch of Filipino snacks and items displayed on the side, and the whole place feels very authentic and homey. The setup reminded me a little of places like Chipotle or Panda Express where you move down the line and choose what you want on your plate. I got plain white rice as my base, but you can also get pancit, which are glass noodles with veggies, for a small extra charge depending on the plate size. For my sides, I got the crispy pork sisig and lumpia rolls, which are thin crispy Filipino egg rolls. For two sides and one base, it came out to around $16, and they loaded the plate with so much food that it easily became two meals. My boyfriend got the spicy squid along with a pork and liver dish, and everything was super flavorful. Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by here if you want authentic Filipino food that feels homemade and comforting. My boyfriend is Filipino and even he said it tasted really good, which definitely says a lot. The portions are huge, the food is flavorful, and the whole place really gives that classic mom-and-pop shop feel.

The more I visit turo-turo (point-point) joints such as R&B Filipino Cuisine, the more I'm…read moreconvinced that the food isn't supposed to be excellent. No one in the kitchen expects you to take a bite of lumpia, or taste a bit of lechon with its shatteringly crisp skin, and have a moment of ecstatic pleasure, where you think to yourself (and say to whoever is nearby), "God-DAMN! That's the best thing I've ever eaten. They expect you to have that reaction at your Tita's house, in her backyard, at a birthday party for someone you're sort of related to. Turo-turo is for sating your appetite with large portions of rich, flavorful food, then going back to work. It's for grabbing a mixed bag of dinner plates and side dishes and desserts, then heading home to your family, where everyone is hungry, that kind of hungry where you talk with your mouth full while you eat, but no one minds, because they're doing the same thing. It's for leftovers - awesome leftovers - that taste as good as they did the first day, maybe better, planned-for leftovers that help keep the kitchen clean and the family full and happy. It's for comfort food, though I can't imagine anyone eating a piled-high meal of pancit and adobo and pinakbet, then pushing back from the table and saying, "You know, I feel really... comfortable." R&B serves all these things, and more, for all of these reasons. And maybe it's not excellent, but it's damned good, and it does the job it's meant to do.

I am from San Jose and I am always looking around on Yelp or tik tok for Filipino breakfast spots…read moreas they are my FAVORITE. I am so glad I found Luna's Lunpias. When we walked in, the staff were so friendly and went over the specials and also let us know what they didn't have for that morning. (Thankfully everything I was planning to order they had all of it)! Drinks: Calamasi Refresher The nice staff member recommended this drink and it was the perfect pairing with our breakfast. I usually stick with drinking water but this was a really good pick! 5/5 Appetizers: Pork lumpia: 5/5, of course we had to get this! Combo plates: Longsilog bowls ~ which came with garlic rice, fried egg, scoop of Mac and cheese. It was super filling and I thought it was never ending witu the amount of longsilog they gave. This dish paired well with their spice vinegar. There were literally no crumbs left. I always love supporting family owned restaurants. Filipino food is my top favorite foods. I can't wait to come back in August!

LUMPIAS: Tried both the pork and beef lumpias and while both were good, we all liked the pork ones more since they just had more of a kick to them. Perfectly fried and crispy! BREAKFAST MUSUBI: We wanted to try this and see how well the hashbrown went with the musubi. It was decent but don't think it's something I would get again. It was a bit hard to eat as the whole thing fell apart quickly so we ended up picking at it like a salad. SISIG COMBO PLATE: I was able to get half half garlic fried rice and pancit for my carbs. Nice, crispy pork belly cut into the perfect bite sized pieces. Loved the mango serrano salsa! UBE CHEESECAKE: I wanted the minis but they were out at the time, so I ended up getting the full sized one. It's still not too big so perfect for 1-2 people. Good flavor and not overly sweet! Overall, great Filipino food although pricey for what it is; I got a bit of sticker shock when my total showed up. It's also a bit out of the way, but I'd definitely return to try other menu items if I'm ever passing though the area again. Definitely just a once in a while visit for me anyways because of the cost.
