For all the basic brunch ppl in the area, this is yo place!! My friends and I came here for a catch-up session and some delicious brunch, and White Maple Café served as the perfect background to our little reunion. Everything about this place is insta-worthy from its tiled floors, rustic details, and easy-on-eye decorations. In terms of food, I would say that this is a pretty solid brunch place. It serves a lot of the classic brunch signatures from your beloved eggs bennys, pancakes, French toast, huevos rancheros, omelets, etc. I got the Vermont benny and found it to be satisfactory. It had a slight kick to it which I found to be a pleasant surprise! My favorite part though is that White Maple gives its customers free (and very addicting!) popcorn to munch on as you wait for your orders--it's a unique treat that I have never seen before and adds to the charm of this place! Overall, my friends and I had a solid time here. If I didn't live in Boston and lived around the area, I know I would be a regular here! read more

A co-worker told me how wonderful this place was for brunch, but I never got around to getting over to it. I'd basically forgotten about the recommendation. Today however I was out and about in Ridgewood and when it got to lunch time - this seemed like the perfect place. It was a beautiful day - and we had a dog with us - so it was also one of the very few places that still had outdoor seating. That's a win! We let them know we'd be eating outside and immediately a server came out to clear the table, bring us water (and water for the dog) and a bowl of popcorn. Such a lovely nibble while we perused the menu. SO many delicious sounding options - especially with the salads and sandwiches. It was a soup sort of day though. There are two options - I asked about the special. The soup special was a creamy sweet potato - and there was an option to have a cup of that with half a sandwich. We both went for that. Both of us ordered the soup special - I had the veggie sandwich and my dining companion had the grilled cheese and bacon. The soup was great - rich and creamy and just enough to satisfy without being too much. The sandwiches were well executed. In particular for me, the mix of the whipped ricotta with the tomato jam and roasted vegetables on sourdough was fantastic. It's open face - and a little hard to cut - but still delicious. In the end I gave up on delicacy and picked it up with my hands. I'm looking forward to returning and exploring more of the menu. After picking up my kid and his friend from a History Bowl competition, we decided to eat around this area before heading home. The town is quite quaint with lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants. That's rare to see in certain parts of Jersey. Because it was Sunday, it seemed that 3/4 of the places were closed. Yelp bought me to this American restaurant. Our waiter, Jared, recommended that if we ordered from the Restaurant Week menu, we should all do so in order for the chef to coordinate our dishes timely. My son, being the Prince that he is, had to order differently from the rest of us. His entree alone was $28, the prix-fixed Restaurant menu was $30.20 for one choice of an app, entree and dessert. We started off with some complimentary popcorn. Two bowls of popcorn that were seasoned with cumin, garlic and nutritional yeast which gave it a nutty, cheesy and a delightful creamy taste. It was so addictive. We asked for seconds. The dishes that stood out from the Restaurant Week menu were: - Kale Caesar Salad (love the walnuts) - Tomato Bisque - Korean Roasted Cauliflower (spicy) - Beef Burger (fries were too salty though) - Pan Roasted Half Chicken (super juicy w/crispy skin) Sorry that there are no entree pics attached. I wish I had better things to say but this one actually isn't my favorite. We've been here several times for brunch. Instead of bread and butter, they give you cinnamon-sugar popcorn, which is surprisingly good and addicting. I've found their brunch to be underwhelming while their coffee is bitter and served lukewarm. Ugh, I wish I had more positive feedback because we had a really great experience our first time here, but the last few times we visited here were just disappointing. There are so many little restaurants in this area of Ridgewood and we've tried many of them. This evening we were three and decided to try out this little local eatery. We ordered the Salmon, Cod and Hanger Steak dishes. I was told the fish dishes were "pretty good". My grass fed hanger with sweet potato fries (instead of regular potatoes) was delicious. I asked them for well done fries and they came out exactly the way I wanted. It's BYOB though they do have wines from Ventimiglia Vineyard (Wantage, NJ) if you didn't bring your own. When we walked in this morning , the gentleman let us know that they were under staffed . Yet even still the hospitality was not good at all . No smiles, and no questions asked to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. The food is not as advertised and the timing of service is absolutely terrible . The Maple Cafe was alright. However, they took quite a while for the food to come out, and when it did, it was cold. I personally hated the chicken Sandwich the most. Despite that, it was still acceptable; the drinks, particularly the horchata mocktail, was great. read more

Came here for the first time when I was visiting my family for the holidays. Seemed like a cute breakfast spot, and my sister and dad had good things to say as well! We walked in and were able to get a table for 3 earlier in the day which was nice. I was also very thankful the staff was still wearing masks and that the restaurant wasn't too crowded. I ended up ordering a latte and the ricotta + fig jam + bread platter. My fiance ordered the veggie bowl, and our other friend ordered the benedict. The food came out pretty quickly - I was really impressed with the portion size. My dish was definitely a platter as the menu stated - so much great bread, the whipped ricotta was amazing, and the fig jam was perfect. I would likely get this to share next time, but was perfectly happy housing it myself. My partner's veg bowl was also great, the veggies were super well cooked and the flavors came together well. Our other friend seemed to enjoy her benedict as well. I have to call out that the service here was amazing. A cool little place. First time ever in a restaurant where tap or sparkling water was a choice with no extra charge, Plus the free sweet popcorn, a really nice touch. Food was really good, creative and full favor. Our Starter was Korean roasted cauliflower just the right amount of kicks. Spinach salad with grill chicken, tasty and generous portion. Stars are for decor, cute little cafe. The food, just breakfast, was a joke. The home fries for the benny's dishes were literally little baby potato cubes over cooked dry dog food in a bowl. The bennys aka eggs benedict were luke warm. The seating needs to be reaaranged if you are sitting inside. Don't jam pack the tables and have customers sit so close to eat other...there is covid, you know. 3 different guest were placed right adjacent to us, only asking the waiter to be seated somewhere else. They would have been literally sitting with us listening to our casual conversations if they stayed. And the coffee, horrible. Cute cafe nested in a bustling street, with plenty of outdoor seating under the balmy late summer sun. There was a small wait during weekend brunch but it wasn't unreasonable. Why did I knock stars for this cute cafe? Firstly, the service was poor. Our server rarely checked in on us. She didn't refill our waters, ask about our food, or deliver our bill until we had to flag her down. She wasn't that busy. Secondly, the indoor seating ambience was a bit stuffy. We had a poor seating location when there were better tables available. Thirdly, and most importantly, the coffee was wretched. I could not really enjoy the food because the coffee was actually terrible. It tasted like the ghost of coffee infused in swamp water. I came out and joked that I should just run to a mccafe for a quick coffee after bc it would still be better there. I really tried to be lenient but having really bad coffee at a breakfast/brunch place seems like cutting a MAJOR corner there. I tried to hint at this brackish coffee issue to the server but she didn't seem too fazed by it. Troubling that the service and coffee was so off...I don't think I could come back here again. read more

Love love love towns like Ridgewood with restaurants for every palette. My best friend suggested this place for a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The place is really cute with clean white tile floors and rustic looking furnitures to match. We sat outside since it was gorgeous out and was given a very simple but fulfilling menu. We were offered sparkling or tap water and our orders were taken right away. Since we both ordered salads, it didn't take long for the food to come. I had the harvest salad with shrimp and avocado added on while my bff got the Mediterranean salad, also with shrimp and avocado. The salads were large but extremely filling. The food tasted delicious. I know it's just salad with a bunch of stuff thrown in, but the dressing and the mixture of squash, eggplant, quinoa was an amazing blend. I would absolutely come back and try something other than their salad next time. It's really nice to just sit outside and people watch while chatting with your girlfriend. I've dined her a few times and always satisfying. there is one waiter that was very good and engaging and one that is as dry as dirt. i recently went to dine here and prior to going i went to their website and noticed it was open to 8:30pm. i arrived at 8pm asked for a table for two and was told they were closed. hmmm website said 8:30p, sign on door said open... but they weren't taken any tables and they were closed. the waiter or host at the door was the waiter that had no personality, ok made sense. if your arcing till 8:30, the. you should seat till 8:30. very disappointed . read more

I had another wonderful experience at White Maple Cafe! I was meeting with some friends and our original choice for brunch was a bust...they had a 2+ hour wait. I guess that should be expected but we last minute decided to go to White Maple Cafe. When we arrived--there was a brief wait. They were just cleaning and disinfecting the table. Once the table was cleaned, we were seated immediately. The menus are still available QR code and was easily accessible. It's BYOB--don't forget to bring some champagne to make some mimosas. We luckily remembered and ordered a pitcher of orange juice. Our server had brought us sweetened popcorn to snack on while we were looking at the menu. We started with the scones and was served with butter and fruit jam. The scone was light and fluffy and was great with the butter and jam. I had ordered the short rib Benny and it was served with a side of breakfast potatoes. This Benny is my fave item on the menu! It was made perfectly and that hollandaise sauce is delicious! Overall I had a great time at White Maple. The employees are all so kind and helpful. They were definitely all doing their part with cleaning and sanitizing between groups. I completely understand that with covid restaurants have time limitations...however. We called ahead no answer, figured let's give it a shot and support a small business. Parked and inquired about seating inside, yes we have a table for 2. Great! Seated at a 4 top. We arrived 1:25, paid for parking as we were seated, ordered Vermont Benedict & gravlax crostini, with one coffee and a house made soda. Food came out, now I've never had to assemble my own Benedict but ok fine. Never once did someone ask if we wanted refills, if our food was good, nothing. But, 3 bites in and some coffee sipping a bus boy or waiter came over to ask if I needed a box, which seemed odd. Another 4 top left while we were eating (noted because we forgot they are byob and saw the other table had champagne, such a missed opportunity!). As I was sitting facing the hostess stand I began to notice the hostess and a waiter routinely turning to look at our table, and I'm talking full stare. More than a handful of times, now, the waitress comes over and asks if we want our check...asks us if we want our check. Not how's your meal, do you want your check. I asked her point blank if they needed the table because we felt extremely rushed, she said "actually yes we do" I noted that no one informed us of a time limit and checked my parking...we had been seated for less than 40 minutes total, their time limit is 90 minutes. I informed her that this was not acceptable and that we were trying to enjoy our meal and her response was "well we need the table." I pointed out the other four top and asked to speak to a manager. The manager came over and his grand response... "I'm sorry you feel that way." Are you kidding me? Mind you, the tables are NOT 6 feet apart, every table is full so even if they had to shift one of our two tables to the other four top the reality is that they are playing fast and loose with their "covid protocols" in both safety and guest comfort. 90 minutes is 90 minutes and my $$ is just as green as the next table, had they said they could have gotten us in for just 60 minutes we could have made a decision whether we wanted a rushed brunch or to go somewhere else, which we will be from now on. This was bar none the worst dining experience we have had and plenty of other restaurants with better service & protocols will be getting our support. Such a shame truly always loved white maple but seemingly even their front of house management cannot be bothered with guest satisfaction. read more

We went here for father's day brunch. They called us as we were arriving for our reservation 2 min early to confirm the reservation and then had us wait 10 min for our table. Service was really slow, which I would understand if it was busy, but there were just a few other tables being served. It took us at least 30 min to receive our drinks and another at least 30 min to receive our food. Horchata drink was really good but otherwise nothing great to say about the food and drink. White Maple Cafe is such a nice establishment in Downtown Ridgewood to go for brunch. We enjoyed our experience greatly. First of all, Downtown Ridgewood in general is a fun place to visit. They have lots of other shops and restaurants to explore. It's larger than even Red Bank, Haddonfield, or Downtown Princeton. The cafe itself has so much attention to detail. Everything from the floor, to the hostess stand, to the menus, to the check holder at the end is either an antique or a nice feature. They give you complimentary sparkling water, which is served the way they do it in France, in a wine bottle. They also give you free popcorn that is prepared the way it is in France, with cinnamon and sugar, instead of the American way with butter and salt. My poached salmon benny doesn't look so great in the picture, but it was delicious. The potatoes were also seasoned really well. The service was attentive, and they seemed to be pleased that we were happy with our experience in general. read more

A quaint little eatery in downtown Ridgewood. We came here for lunch on a weekday and the restaurant was not crowded at all. It wasn't too hard to find street parking either, which is a plus. The restaurant has nice decor and the ambiance was nice. We ordered a few appetizers and two entrees. We got a Ricotta board, deviled eggs, blistered shishito peppers, steak salad, and half chicken salad sandwich/ half tomato bisque combo. The Ricotta board and shishito peppers were fantastic. I would definitely order them again. The other three items were only ok. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good either. A bit disappointed after having a mid- week breakfast this week. Staff was very sweet, but the food was average. We couldn't even eat the pancakes- they were thick and tasteless and didn't resemble pancakes. The Vermont Benny was good, I would recommend if you like sausage. Also ordered the Veggie Breakfast bowl. It was definitely tasty and well executed but absolutely needed more vegetables. It had more potato in it and less of what I would expect like zucchini and squash. The coffee wasn't coffee which was disappointing because it seemed like a place which would have excellent coffee. I prefer a light roast, but this was water- it didn't even smell like coffee. The idea of serving popcorn instead of bread was very cute. This is a very cute and adorable restaurant! I enjoyed the service and the ambience. My friends and went for brunch and it a great spot to have good food and catch up. We ordered a herby ricotta for the table and that was really good - a unique blend of herbs ricotta, a delicious pear chutney, and honey (idk if there was anything in the honey). I ordered the skillet huevos rancheros and it was very different than my expectations but tasted pretty good. It was served in the skillet, the egg white was still liquidy, whole pieces of beans scattered (black eye, kidney, black), a few crunchy chips on top and a verde salsa. Great spot. Our waitress was very nice and easy going she made us feel very comfortable. They give complimentary popcorn with nutritional yeast and seasoning on top. So good! Came here for brunch around 9:45a on a Monday, it was President's Day so holiday... parking was ample & the restaurant was pretty empty with 2 parties. They offered an interesting drink menu that was exciting & wine! We tried the winter horchata with rice/almond milk, vanilla, cinnamon & allspice. Was disappointed in it because it tasted more like a cold chai tea latte, not like authentic horchata, but was okay & a bit too sweet. What is fun is that they have different variations of the eggs benedict & I tried the short rib benny but the ribs lacked in flavor yet was cooked well, not too dry & still juicy. The house fries needed more seasoning, I felt. My cousin ordered the Vermont benny which had the spicy pork sausage with cheddar hollandaise sauce. She kinda liked it, did not rave about it. A friend and I recently had dinner here. We started with the burrata and Korean cauliflower. The buratta was good, but the cauliflower was undercooked and lacking flavor. I ordered the $21 (!) Veggie Bowl, which was a big bowl of undercooked, flavorless vegetables. They were mostly raw and literally no flavor. I'm not sure if they forgot the dressing or what? Meanwhile, my friend's Thai salad was absolutely drenched in dressing. Maybe they put my dressing on her salad? Anyway, both could have been better. The best thing we had were the sweet potato fries, which were crisp and delicious. Dessert was OK. We shared an apple crisp - it was a bit too sweet and the apples seemed overcooked (soggy) but the gelato on top was good. read more

A few visits now has lead this to be one of my regularly visited brunch spots when I'm back in jerz visiting family. Cute ambiance and great coffee (American Bulldog) is my main reason. The decor is cute, cozy and clean. Reminded me of other rustic farm to table restaurants in NYC. They also offer outdoor seating like most places in Ridgewood--perfect for enjoying your mimosa on a warm, sunny day! Upon seating, WMC offers complimentary still or sparkling water and a bowl of seasoned popcorn (tasted like there was a hint of cinnamon). The concept of the menu seemed really great, but the food here is just ok. We ordered the White Maple Veggie Breakfast Bowl, Jersey Madame, A custom Frittata and the Roasted Veggie Tartine. Ingredients of the food were fresh, though the execution of the dishes could use some improvement. The toast of the veggie tartine and jersey madame were nuked--completely burnt on the bottom side. The egg of the frittata was also overcooked. Service here was mediocre throughout. We had to get their attention a couple of times. I also noticed that most of the wait staff were idly chatting with themselves. Went back here for their burger as the staff was nice and I think they deserved a better review. Bison and Beef Burger-16 bison and beef patty with grafton village cheddar, lettuce, tomato relish, spicy mayo, brioche bun, hand-cut fries The patty was nicely cooked at medium rare. Good cheese as well. The tomato relish was an interesting twist on the normal. The spicy mayo went well with the fries. My only complaint I guess is that the fries were a bit too thick so they weren't crispy enough. The grenadine mocktail is really really sweet, a bit too much so. 3.9 read more
