    Beef short rib raviolis
    Shelby A.

The ambiance and decor at Cafe 37 are undeniably impressive, giving off an upscale and sophisticated vibe. The food was decent, with a few standout dishes that were well-prepared and flavorful. I really enjoyed how they accommodated our mushroom allergy as all the meals are cooked and prepared individually and not prepped ahead of time. However, the service was a major letdown we arrived to an empty restaurant and were greeted with a snarky, "do you have a reservation?" Clearly a reservation was not needed for an empty restaurant. It felt like the hostess assumed we couldn't afford to dine there because we were young, and his attitude reflected that bias. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expected much better service. I also noticed every table that came in after us was greeted with smiles and warmth by the male hostess. Our server who was female however was exceptional, she ensured allergies were not a concern. We started with a special of the beef short rib raviolis. They were good however the pasta was a bit too chewy for my liking. I order the sea scallops that were perfect, seared just right and served over a perfectly seasoned risotto and sautéed veggies. My friend ordered the red snapper special which he enjoyed minus having found a few bones. I was mostly annoyed he didn't want to say anything about the bones as a filet should not have any. Overall, while the food and atmosphere were satisfactory, the unwelcoming service makes me hesitant to return.

Came here for dinner with a group of 7 on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't packed at all - at least not until it was later in the night. Cute little place that's BYOB with extremely tentative waitstaff. We were a pretty easy going group with most of us ordering the same thing and a bunch of appetizers to split with all of us. The food was amazing with the exception of the seafood paella I ordered. I think I was expecting more rice in the dish than the seafood, and the seafood didn't taste as fresh and i would've liked. Everyone else ordered the short ribs which I was pretty jealous of. The meat fell off the bone and it looked way better than my seafood paella. The waitstaff was great in refilling waters and wine glasses. They were attentive and friendly which made our experience that much better. I would love to come back here in the summer and sit outside! Super cute place away from the main part of ridgewood!

I celebrated my anniversary at Cafe 37 and it was a wonderful experience. We dined during the week and enjoyed the prix fixe menu. The food was incredible with beautiful presentation. The servers were very attentive. Cafe 37 is BYOB so you can bring your own wine. We will definitely be back.

Consistently good. Outside seating in the tented area is wonderful on a comfortable night. Service was friendly and reliable. Crabcake special for an appetizer was tasty. Steak and snapper special for dinner were delicious. The star of the evening was the bananas foster bread pudding. I could have ordered a second one it was so good!!

    PEI Mussels and Manila Clams

Great upscale restaurant in Ridgewood offering a wide variety of menu options. I ordered from the prix fixed menu (4 courses for $54). I started off with the PEI Mussels and Manila Clams, which were pretty good and tasted fresh but were rather small in size. Then, the Kale Salad was also good, especially the toasted almonds, which added a nice and tasty crunch, and the pink grapefruit, which added some fruity sweetness. My main dish was the Sashimi Ahi Tuna with Risotto Milanese, which was great - the "black and blue" preparation was pretty unique and tasty, as the outer edges of the tuna got seared with some pepper along the edges while the center of each piece remained as raw sashimi. That being said, the tuna pieces were a bit small. The risotto part of the dish was very tasty too. For dessert, I got the Fallen Chocolate Cake, which was pretty small as well but rich and soft/tasty. As a whole, I'd say the prix fixed menu was a pretty good deal, despite each of the four courses being somewhat small in size. The place itself is a nice fine dining, white tablecloth with wine glasses kind of place, although there is technically no formal dress code (use your own judgement though). The staff were very friendly and the service speed was okay. I would recommend making a reservation on the weekends, because the place is not particularly big and it can fill up at peak hours. The noise level inside was moderate. The restaurant is right next to the new Ridgewood parking garage, which makes it a very convenient location. Overall, I would highly recommend Cafe 37 if you are looking for a nice place to celebrate a special occasion without going too over the top at a super pricey place.

Beautiful Table Setting With Top Notch Service!!

Held my husband's birthday celebration at Cafe 37 last week and could not be more thrilled with the food, service and beautiful setting. The staff was extremely attentive to every guest, the selected menu choices were beyond delicious and the owner stayed in constant contact to ensure all was perfect throughout the planning process...which was such a bonus! As long time customers of Cafe 37 we can't wait to return to this wonderful and welcoming establishment!! A Bergen County gem for sure!!

Beyond exquisite. Each and every dish in this establishment is superb. The service is excellent. The ambience is romantic with quaint, lovely outdoor patio/seating area. Pleasant musical in the background. This place is magical.

A more upscale spot for nice occasions The food is great, especially the branzini, asian short ribs (very tender) and vegetarian entree and the desserts like fallen chocolate cake and bread pudding. (Small note: we ordered three vegetarian entrees and two came out the same but one of the choices was supposed to be different. We didn't want to complain because it was still really good.) The entrees are pretty good sized portions but the desserts are on the smaller side, though you can still share small bites. The entrees are around $30-40 generally and it's BYOB. The service was nice. The actual seating space is rather small, and the tables close together. When the tables are filled, the acoustics make it hard to hear what your companions are saying.

A fine dining restaurant in Ridgewood, serving delicious food with impeccable presentation and taste. We made our reservation ahead for Sunday dinner. When we arrived, we got seated right away. The restaurant wasn't busy, as only 3 other tables were occupied. Due to Covid their menu is online. It's a concise list with limited items in appetizers, entrees and desserts. We decided to try the Octopus appetizer, Bronzini and Seafood dishes for entree. The prep time was excellent , as we didn't have to wait long at all to get our food. We were very impressed with delicate presentation of each dish. All items including vegetables were cooked to perfection. This is an excellent spot for occasions like couples dinner, or milestones celebration. TL;DR: Food taste - 5/ 5 Food prep time - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Price - $$$$

Outdoor seating available, but large windows, which were open last night. We were seated promptly at a window seat and Diana came by pretty quickly to take our order. You have to try their Focaccia bread. They do a little something special that makes it so crispy outside, but fluffy and buttery on the inside. My wife ordered the "The Clam Jam" (beer-braised littlenecks, Calabrian chili, house sausage and Espelette Butter). She love the dish, as did I the one clam she allowed. I ordered the Hamachi Crudo (Organic cherry ponzu, lime, jalapeño, shiro dashi, pistachio gremolata and red onion.) This is a very fancy ceviche, with cherries and all the fixins' which I would gladly order again... My wife's entrée was the Goffle Road farm half chicken (crispy fingerling potatoes, herb butter & roast chicken jus). Gotta say, they Lula's does a great job with this chicken. I stop by Goffle Road farm and the chicken is superior to pretty much anything else, but this came out with such a light crispy skin and so juicy and tender. Excellent! My entrée was the Elite Prime Grass-Fed Coulotte steak (Pomme puree, crispy sunchokes & black garlic jus.) The steak was done to perfection and the potatoes puree were so very creamy and good. No dessert tonight... just a couple cups of coffee and a little walk around Ridgewood. Busy place! Lula is a BYO!

The hospitality was incredible. We went there for my birthday. All the staff knew it was my birthday and they also knew that I was eight months pregnant and wanted to make sure that I was comfortable. The food was exceptional. The wait staff was so nice and provided recommendations while not pushing any one dish. We got the focaccia, softshell crab, Peking duck and chicken liver for appetizers. The softshell crab was the best I've ever had, and I would come back to this restaurant for this alone. The Peking duck was juicy and tender with the most incredible slaw type salad underneath it. The focaccia with the butter was also phenomenal, the owner actually brought it out to us and we had a nice conversation with him and you can tell he just poured his heart and soul into this restaurant. The focaccia is definitely not an appetizer to be overlooked just because it is bread. While I couldn't have any of the chicken liver mousse, it looked stunning, and my husband said that it was incredible and so light and fluffy, and it was a massive portion. I look forward to when we come back when I'm not pregnant and I can eat it. For dinner I got the Arctic char, and my husband got the pork. The Arctic char was unbelievable. It was piping hot and literally just melted in my mouth with each bite and the side that came with it was a mix of asparagus, mushrooms, farro and I don't know what else, but it was fantastic if I could have that side on its own as well, I would order more. My husband's pork was crispy and delicious with another incredible slaw topping, and it was so massive he has to take home like a third of it for dessert. We had the lemon meringue tart for dessert, which was also incredible and so refreshing for a dessert. All of the food was outrageously fresh and just outstanding. This restaurant is our new favorite place and on the way out we even made a reservation for three weeks from now to come back. This is probably the best restaurant that I've eaten at in Ridgewood hands down and I'm so glad that they are in the area. The restaurant adds a new vibe with food that is so phenomenal to match. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area as a MUST try. Of course me and my husband will be going back in a few weeks and we can't wait.

I don't even know what it was served over but it was some kind of shredded veg and covered in a delicious light savory sauce with a hint of sweetness which I just learned was from a "sweet drop pepper" garnish. I wish there were more of these cute little red gems! It was the first time anyone at our table saw them. It reminded me slightly of a slightly smoky ripe cherry tomato. Delicious!! I ate the almost the entire dish and ordered a side of truffle mashed potatoes. I was very satisfied with my main entree and the black truffle mashed were also delicious even though the chef didn't know what region they were from. (A truffle hunter told us to always ask the chef what region they are from to ensure they are authentic and not oil or fake lab grown because they have to certify the region they came from before exporting them.) TMI I know but if you're a foodie you might appreciate this knowledge. For appetizer, the table ordered the filet ravioli....I liked the Brown sauce and greenery it was served with but wish they included more green beans. The meat was cut in large pieces inside the ravioli and was very tender. It was unique. Save some bread for the sauce. Hub had the dry aged steak and thought it was too thin and meh for the price. He's picky AF so that that with a grain of salt. I think he was expecting the meat to be like Cafe panache or a steak house and it was not so he won't get that again. I didn't try it and I saw him get it down to the bone so I think he enjoyed it anyway. Dessert was a delish apple tart that was on fire with vanilla ice cream and garnished with delicious berries. There were a few chewy spots from the topping but I would absolutely get this again. The filling was perfect with sautéd apples with cinnamon. Be careful when taking your first bite!!! It's hot from the oven! Hub burnt his mouth. Regarding the service there are opportunities. First, it was extremely challenging to get a glass of water. Second, the first waiter forgot half the specials (but to be fair I forgot too because they were super complex and I can't even remember after eating it!!) The second waitress said all the specials and placed our order. I asked her for tap water that never came...asked again and after 30 min I asked again and this time a bottle of water came that was not tap water. Fine. I didn't send it back because I was so thirsty. This water ran out and then i finally got the tap water bottle from the guy but I could def taste the difference. If I come back again I'll will get the bottled water because something tasted off with the tap water. I wanted to ask for lemon to make it palatable but felt like I was being annoying because they were busy and it was impossible to get another refill. But it was getting late and they started clanking the silverware and turning up the lights and I'm sure everyone wanted to go home so that's fair. There was an amazing server that took the time to take multiple pictures of our group. He even stood on a chair to ensure we got a good shot. I appreciated this extra effort. For ambiance it's a nice place to go on a date or with a small group it kinda gave me NYC vibes as a nice lively atmosphere but it does get noisy and it can be hard to hear. I would have liked to hear the light French background music over the noise because you can hear it well in the restroom. Overall a lovely dining experience in NJ.

I like that they use Goffle Road chicken and it came out nice and tender. The veggies were fresh and good quality. I also thought the portion size was perfect. I asked for the dressing on the side and the dressing came in two small cups. One seemed to be a mix of soy and oil, I think there was a bit of sesame oil too. The other was a creamy dressing. I was expecting, nutty, sweet and savory dressing, but it was kind of bland mayo like dressing. The dressing would have also benefited from acid like lime juice. While I liked the salad, the dressing was a let down, so I'm not sure if I would order that dish again, The service was wonderful, everyone was smiling and our server was attentive. I would definitely try again and next time, looking forward to trying some of their brunch/breakfast dishes.

White Maple Café in Ridgewood is such a gem. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit; gorgeous,…read morerustic, and boho with a really cozy, welcoming vibe. Everything here is clearly made fresh, which absolutely shows in the quality and flavor. The mulled cider is incredible, and their soups are truly to die for (comforting, rich, and perfectly done)!! I'm giving it four stars only because if you're in a hurry, this probably isn't the spot. Service takes a bit of time, but that's the trade-off for how fresh everything is. If you're looking to slow down, enjoy the ambiance, and have a delicious meal, this place is definitely worth it.

Our original Resy was canceled due to a change in business hours, so we were offered a complimentary dessert. We tried the cheesesteak empanadas, croquettes, bbq pulled pork arepa, garlic shrimp, octopus, short rib gnocchi and finished with tres leches cake. My favorites were the octopus, shrimp, gnocchi, empanada, and tres leches cake. Croquettes were the least favorite, just not exciting, and they were kind of smashed. The octopus was very tender and enjoyed the sauce and sundried tomatoes that came with it. Everything came out at the right temperature and at a good pace to not overwhelm the table with dishes. The restaurant is dimly lit. I found the booth backs to be very hard and uncomfortable - could use an upgrade. Prices per dish are high for the size, but to be expected with tapas in the states. There are a lot of choices so there's something for everyone.
