As a big White House fan I have been to a lot of their locations. Their customer service has always been top notch. When someone goes above that it's really impressive! Desiree in their Willowbrook store called customer service to get an extended return done for me rather than just saying.... sorry your over the time allowance. And she did it happily. read more

I used to shop online from here a lot, and often returned items I purchased online to the store because it was free to return them there. I shop mostly for their pants, being that I'm petite and they have a nice selection online of petite sizes. The associates made me feel uncomfortable when I would walk in just to return and not browse. "Are you sure you don't want to exchange it for something else?" "You have so many coupons, you should really shop around!" No... please just let me return it and be on my way. I understand that it's their job to be "salespeople," but they take it to another level. Some people may enjoy this level of service, it's almost like having a personal shopper, but others like myself would rather keep to ourselves. read more

I stepped into WHBM for the first time a week ago, when a dress caught my eye in the window. My birthday is coming up next month, so I thought I might find something pretty to wear. A saleswoman immediately sidled up to me & asked why I was shopping. "Oh this dress? It's on sale. What's your size? Let's try it on." I told her I didn't want to try on anything. But she insisted. I insisted too; I didn't feel like trying clothes on & I had to meet someone for lunch. When I said I could come back & asked how long the sale would last, she said, "I don't know, at least to the end of the day, maybe tomorrow." ....... Do sales change mid-day? How do you not know though? The barrage continued. "Just try it on! You should try it on to see how it fits. And here, let's look for more. Do you want separates? You look like you like flowers." After some more back & forth, I finally agreed to try on two dresses, but just those two. And quickly. While I was in the dressing room, I was bombarded with more questions. "Do you want to try on belts? Let me find some shoes. What's your size? I'll get a necklace to match, with bracelets & earrings." I told her I didn't even plan to buy a dress today, much less every accessory in the store. But the thing is, I really liked the dress I tried on. It didn't fit properly, so I had to order my size & have it shipped to my house. "Shipping is free!" Fantastic. Until ... "Do you need it expedited? It's just an additional fee ... do you need it for this week?" I repeated a couple of times that I needed it for next month, and regular shipping is just fine. "Are you sure you don't need it right away?" GAAAAAAAAAH. _________ WHBM offers some really beautiful dresses which are worth checking out, but be prepared for a very aggressive sell! I've been in the Wayne store a few times and I have to say, I have a very pleasant experience. Ann Margaret was my sales associate and I found her to be extremely helpful and not pushy at all. I hate when I go into a store and cannot find anyone to help me - this is not the case at WHBM. She took the time to understand what I was looking for and provided nice sets for me to try on. read more

This is my most local store, so I've been here several times. My first time in this location was uncomfortable due to pushy salespeople. I understand that upper management requires that salespeople be aggressive and upsell, but it's highly uncomfortable on the receiving end. I was looking for professional clothes, and while I was in the fitting room a saleswoman kept adding pieces. I understand they're trying to upsell. Yes, the pieces look great. But I totally see through the fact that you chose high price items to boost your ADS and UPT. I worked in retail management for a long time in the past. The last time I went I had a mixed bag experience. A wonderful manager who I believe was named Remi was super helpful, and I actually trusted her judgment on fit and style. I would definitely come back to seek her help again. However, an associate at the register was searching for additional sizes from the warehouse and other stores and scanned several SKUs. She made frequent mistakes and even accidentally tried to ring me up for several pieces that she scanned just to find their additional sizes, but were out of stock. So if I didn't use my retail management experience to check the pinpad bill, I would have been charged for several items I wasn't taking. She was ambivalent about it and explained that she's retired and it was clear she didn't care. I asked for the nice manager's help several times because I recognized her aptitude. I also made sure to thank her on my way out. I have such mixed feelings about this company. I was so impressed by the manager, she was a shining star. Yet the other pushy and careless salespeople are a total turn-off. read more

As someone who has shopped for years at White House Black Market, while the sales professionals at the store were great, I had a bad experience with the customer service support hotline. I had an issue with an order to ship that was not processed correctly and issues with the sales support line, staff not picking up etc.. Once I escalated them to senior management, they remedied the issue the next day. I endorse WHBM and wish them continued success in the future. read more

This is a go to store for me for work and special occasion dresses. I shop frequently online and in stores. I am a platinum member. Willowbrook is my local store. I recently heard WHBM I is closing this location which is certainly a bummer. I have to wonder if it has something to do with the in store management. There is a particular manager at this location who has been extremely rude to me on many occasions. She clearly does not appreciate online returns and she expresses her disgust verbally and physically. She has been there for more than a year now. A new manager with a pleasant attitude would have done wonders for this store. read more

I used to come here all the time with a friend, but lately the experience has been extremely poor. Just recently, we came together and the new girl (as said to us by the manager) rang us up for something we explicitly said we weren't interested in buying. We let that slide, but it was irritating to have to deal with after standing at register previously for about 20 mins just to purchase 4 items. We both understand that it takes getting used to a new job, but the girl was taking her sweet time scanning everything and pulling up my friend's account. To make matters worse, we just came back and she was there. It turns out that the last we came, she used one of the coupons on my friend's account without letting her know, which was what my friend counted on for making the purchase. The manager intervened once hearing the situation, and tried to make it seem as if my friend was trying to be stingy and cheap out by saying that she had never given the girl at register permission to use it. To say the least, we would definitely recommend going to another store. read more
