Dear Alo Corporate Customer Relations Team,…read more Please forward this complaint to the regional manager responsible for your Willowbrook Mall store in Wayne, New Jersey. On October 10, 2026, at approximately 3:20 p.m., I attempted to make a $226 purchase at this location using my Chase debit card. The transaction was declined. The associate assisting me explained that the store puts the transaction through, it gets declined, and the customer then has to call their bank to release it. She described this as something happening because of the holidays. This explanation left me confused and embarrassed. I stood at the checkout counter calling my bank over a $226 purchase and felt humiliated by how the situation was handled. I am requesting a clear explanation of the payment procedure the associate described, including whether this is an actual Alo policy and whether Alo's payment system or my bank declined the transaction. I subsequently called and spoke with a manager named Manny. I explained how embarrassed I felt and expressed my concern that, as a Black woman, I had been treated poorly because of my race. I want that concern taken seriously and investigated. When I asked Manny for the store's identification number, he said no. When I asked for the corporate office phone number, he again said no. I then asked him directly whether he was declining to provide that information, and he said yes, telling me I could go on the website. His response made an already upsetting experience worse. After explaining that I felt humiliated and potentially discriminated against, I expected respectful assistance and a way to escalate my concerns. I am requesting: * An investigation into the checkout interaction and Manny's handling of my complaint. * A written explanation of the payment procedure described by the associate and whether it is applied consistently to all customers. * Confirmation of the Willowbrook location's internal store ID. * Preservation and review of any relevant transaction records and available surveillance footage. * A response from the regional manager or corporate retail leadership explaining your findings and how this will be addressed. Regardless of the reason for a card decline, customers deserve dignity, courtesy, and respectful assistance. Please acknowledge receipt, provide a complaint reference number, and respond within five business days. Sincerely, Candice M.
