While my cuz flight from Los Angeles is delayed I don't see why I have to wait at a boring airport , no I will waste time inside white castle in Sunnyside that has been completely renovated and upgraded since my last visit , order a few murder burgers, chicken rings , a large diet soda , grab a corner booth and enjoy . Still my favorite guilty pleasure and still cheaper then the other fast food joints . The older locations can get hot, muggy, and feel run-down, but this one is spotless with no issues. I come here once in a blue moon and I live walking distance away. Great for a late night snack since the burgers are bite sized and aren't too heavy. When I went with my friend, the workers were very polite and worked quickly to fill our orders. Happy about that part. But I must say that people just walk-in and no one knows where to stand to wait and to pick-up their orders. So there should be clearer stickers, markers, and signs on the floor or wall would be better. I'll be returning as I'm always down for late night snacks when I'm craving for it. read more

Despite the assurance from nearly all of my New Yorker friends and being amused by Harold and Kumar, the allure of White Castle never came into fruition for me until recently. It's not the greasy, onion riddled sliders or the basket of fries that turned me around, but their two most recent sandwiches: the crab cake and the Impossible Burger. The crab cake slider almost reminds me fo a more stacked version of Mickey D's fish filet, except the tarter sauce is vastly inferior to White Castle's "creole sauce" which reminds me of Cane's sauce a la Raising Canes minus the sweetness factor. Combine this sandwich with an order of the shrimp nibblers and it's a complete seafood meal. Another move that makes White Castle a true pioneer in the fast food scene is their partnership with Impossible Foods to feature an imitation meat slider. It really it's some of the best fake meat I've ever had. In fact, I've enjoyed the Impossible Burgers so much that I'd prefer it to the actual beef. At practically $2 a pop, they are among the most premium items on the menu. As for this actual location, they have outdoor seating, a drive-thru, a "pick it yourself" soda machine, friendly staff, and a fairly clean interior. This particular one is the one I always go to with my brother to dine in when ever we get that major craving. White Castle is one of those meals that you want after a while. The taste and quality is consistent. We always get the clam strips, fries, cheese burgers and onions rings or chicken rings once in a while. I recommend ordering cheese sauce on the side. All the fried food is relatively crisp with no sogginess. We always ask for packets of sauce particularly the honey mustard and the zesty zing. The employees are never grimy with the sauce and are willing to give you more sauce if you need it. The soda machine has a ton of options to choose from although sometimes some of the flavors ran out. We almost always leave this place with a greasy feeling in our bodies and slight regret of having so much junk food, but honestly we enjoy it. We always go back. read more

Yes, this review is for take out and going through their drive through. Had the craving for some White Castle hamburgers. When it is hot and humid at 94 degrees and with the humidity which makes it feel like 100 degree. NYC is under a heat wave warning. Do you really want to cook??? No way. It's take out time. Do not enter on the Queens Blvd side for drive through entrance is on the side street (43rd Street- go slow on the two way street or you will miss the drive through entrance). The Queens Blvd entrance is for parking to eat at the restaurant. Could not figure out the entrance the first time I went the take out route. After couple of times, I got the system down packed. Always come here for their Crave Case with a Sack of 30 sliders and it come in a carry case which is so cool like I just got out of a business meeting. Their one of a kind, V-Day experience has to be experienced in order to under to truly understand how magical it is. The workers decorate the entire restaurant and take on being waiters for the evening. Yes, they take orders while you're seated at the table. The staff was super accomodating - even preparing items "well done" so they'd be extra crispy from the frier. The highlights from the evening included well done chicken rings, the chicken and waffle sandwich, the original cheese slider (hold the onions and pickles), and the vanilla shake. In typical White Castle fashion, there was the odd character in the restaurant. A newly married couple where the guy was self proclaiming his usage of cocaine. Yes, sometimes you crave processed mystery meat burgers, grease laden onion rings, and something that resembles french fries, and nothing will stop oneself from attaining this type of meal and stuffing it down your gourd. It's a giant night light that acts as a beacon to draw in the drunken starving masses such as ourselves. The counter staff was easy to work with and the food was served up hot and fast. No one even batted an eye when I ordered the Crave Case. Seriously, I could have eaten this whole box of meat destruction by myself if I did not have to go back to the bar and share it. I've never been to a White Castle before, so tonight I ordered delivery (Grubhub). A couple sliders, onion rings, a new veggie slider, and a couple bottles of water. Order arrived at the quoted time, was still warm, and tasted just okay. The bun on the slider is actually a typical dinner roll... I liked that. The meat however was quite thin, had a pickle...but the cheese actually overwhelmed the slider. All in all, nice meal at a good price. read more

At 220 calories per slider (without cheese), these things are a great option for on the go vegans in NYC. For a snack, have 2 sliders. For a meal, have 5. If you want to go the traditional route, go there at 1 am and order 20. Just like their classic meat counterparts, these sliders go down easy and no matter how many you eat, there will always be room for more. The Impossible Slider has a unique taste and texture compared to other veggie patties. I'm sure many carnivores would not flinch while eating it if you never told them it was plant-based. The sliders are fun to eat and taste pretty good. The buns are fluffy, and the pickle and onion add a nice crunch and flavor kick. I don't like ketchup, so I replaced it with barbecue sauce and/or honey mustard, which was good. I really didn't want to give such a low rating but don't have a choice. I placed an order using the app for 20 cheese sliders with no pickles and 2 small onion rings. After placing my order the app gave me a pickup time that was about 20 minutes later. I was driving from midtown so I arrived 15 minutes after the estimated pickup time. When I get to the counter I find that my order wasn't even started. About 15 - 20 minutes later my order is finally ready. When I get home and start eating I find all the sliders have pickles which I ordered without pickles. So, in the end using the app saved absolutely no time and my order was wrong. Those little onions are like flavor crystals and they continue to add some interesting items such as chicken rings. I also like the clam strips. But typically opened 24 hours - 7 days a week. Maybe they'll shut their doors on Christmas night. But it's a unique fast food experience. There's not a specific replacement burger for their sliders. When you crave it, that's it. They have a suitcase of burger the crave case, But if you live next to a white castle, you can get sick of people bring it as party favors. I saw a report actually that White castle is healthier and cleaner than McD's and Burger King. It's probably true. There something institution/hospital like about the decor. OMG! I loveeee this place. Its White Castle! What else is there to really say? The employees here are so nice and friendly. They really are doing the lords work. Working fast food is not easy and they always seem to keep their cool under pressure. Some of the customers can get rowdy. I've witnessed it, and the cashiers always handle themselves real well. Deep fried and greasy food always delivers. Yes, its unhealthy, but its comfort food. I do wish the store remodeled because it can really benefit from a face lift. Aside from that, the only other complaint is the clientele. They all look suspicious from some reason. This area is just suspect in general. The young working professionals in the area are trying so hard to make it upscale. I always feel more comfortable when i see a young working professional come in here. I've said to myself silently on many occasions while waiting in line: Are some of these customers homeless and unemployed? Seriously! Some of them come in and are all disheveled and messy. Well. I finally had White Castle. Yes, I only had White Castle for the first time a few nights ago. I have just never found a reason to go even after moving to NY. But in one night I had it on two separate occasions. First I went there sober and had three original sliders. Then after a bit of drinking, my dear Yelper friends brought back a whole box full of sliders to the bar we were in, and I had four jalapeno sliders. The jalapeno sliders were definitely better than the original sliders, and eating them after alcoholing definitely makes them taste better. Two stars when sober, and four stars after drinking. Haha, that looks fun just carrying it around knowing that you have regular white castles and jalapeno cheeseburgers inside there.
