The food and service go from 1 star to 5 stars. It's a roller coaster. Today, I ordered curbside at 6:38pm. I get to Zaxby's at 6:45pm. Mine was simple. 2 grilled chicken zalads, and chicken fajita quesadilla. I sat at my curbside position until 6:55. I decide to go in, After I watch more than 10 cars order in drive thru and pull away with their order. My order is literally sitting on the counter with name. It had probably set there for 10 or more minutes. No one was going to bring it to me. Get this, when I get there, no one was at the counter ordering food. No one was even up there. Ok, so they ignored my order on the counter. I like the food and it wasn't terrible today. The Zalads have been a little short on content, but I've complained about with management before. They continue to charge more for less of the ingredients.

Unbeknownst to me, the buffet wasn't open, which was a bit of a disappointment--but not wanting to look like a busted can of biscuits, I decided to order a smaller meal and just enjoy my time there anyway. When I went to pay, my card ran into an error message and wouldn't go through. I only had four dollars in cash on me, so I went to fill up a water cup and prepare to leave. Right then, a young lady on staff walked over and told me, "We're going to buy your lunch today." She assured me they would take care of it and apologized for the card trouble I was having. It was one of the single kindest things that has happened to me in a long time--a true feel-good moment. The staff at this Salem KFC are a step above professional, a step above kind, and a step above hospitable. I also have to give special recognition to a young man named Lex. He was remarkably professional, extremely attentive, and did a bang-up job keeping the lobby spotless and welcoming. I can't thank this team enough for how they treated me.
