It's has plenty of seating and by the time we left was packed with guests. Our service was fine. Ended up getting a flight of beer to be able to sample a few of their brews, the stout was the best one. Super smooth to the palate. Ended up getting a pizza which had a selection of their smoked meats on it, it didn't disappoint. Some portions of the crust were a little too hard as opposed to softer and chewy. Price point was not bad at all. Great place!

I'm not going to say who did, because I don't know if that's something the bar staff was even supposed to do. But i certainly did appreciate the gesture. The Pivoted Hazy IPA is the one of the best beers I've tried in years. Great flavor, not too heavy, well balanced, hint of citrus flavor. Not a lot of great things tend to come out of New England, but the IPAs are one! I also liked the lime wheel beer. Not too sweet, sour, or tart, just very well balanced and refreshing. If you want to go with a real West Coast IPA, the Thistle Brew will do the job. The piney notes and grapefruit flavors are quite pronounced. This wasn't necessarily my style, but I think it will please those who prefer the hoppier flavors. I scored a free sticker too. Bathrooms are really small...and make sure you move the lock latch all the way over...I'll just leave it there.

I ordered a 10" pepperoni and roasted red pepper pizza -- a good size for one person -- but the topping distribution was hit‑or‑miss. A few of the square slices didn't seem to have any roasted red peppers at all. The overall flavor was solid, just not particularly memorable. The crust had a pita‑like taste and texture: decent chew, but missing the standout character or wow factor I was hoping for. I'll probably stop by the restaurant in person next time and try a slice at the counter to see if it hits better fresh.

It was a must when we were back in the area to see our daughter played volleyball against SCC in beach volleyball. It was WONDERFUL! A.J. Is always the sweetest and made another great recommendation. I had a fall special, Blushing Pig, and my husband had the Meat Lovers. There is a picture that describes the pizza I had. It was delicious. They have made some changes since our last visit. Loved the pizza boards the pies were brought out on. If you are in the area, this is a comfortable little place with wonderful staff and delicious food. They have great pies for those needing gluten free and/or vegan. My mother loves them. Meat Lovers is red sauce base, sausage, pepperoni, bacon and ham.

First bite I got the hit of fresh cilantro and crunch from the peanuts, then straight into that crispy chicken--perfectly fried on the outside and still juicy inside. The sauce is sweet, tangy, a little sticky, and so good it should probably come with a warning label. The gluten-free bread held up like a champ under all that goodness, which is a small miracle considering how loaded this thing is. Fair warning: you're going to need extra napkins. It's messy, it's drippy, and it is 100% worth every saucy fingerprint. Service did take a hot minute, but we landed right at noon on a Saturday, so the place was slammed. Even with the wait, I'd order this sandwich again in a heartbeat. If you're anywhere near Moore County, do yourself a favor and get the General Tso Chicken at Roast. Your taste buds will thank you--your shirt might not, but that's what napkins are for.

There was no way that I was going to have driven all the way to North Carolina without eating authentic eastern North Carolina barbecue. Stubbs totally fit the bill. It's in an entirely unassuming building that looks like it at one time might have been a house, but has clearly been home to the restaurant for many years. But whatever. You're not at Stubbs for the atmosphere (not that there's anything wrong with the ambiance...it's eastern Carolina roadside barbecue.). You're here for the food and in that sense, Stubbs does not disappoint. The pork was fresh, moist, and well-seasoned. Perfect. The sides were abundant and well prepared (slaw, greens, stewed beans, etc.). And the hushpuppies were sweet and crisp and not at all greasy. Plus, the staff - particularly the guy taking orders - were kind and accommodating (taking time to answer questions and explain things to my traveling companion who was not particularly schooled in the subtleties of regional barbecue varieties...which is a critical skill if one is going to navigate North Carolina's unique and sometimes contentious barbecue environment). Everyone here was having a good time and yet were taking care of the business of making and selling some of the best barbecue I've had regardless of style or location. If I lived around Carthage, I'd be going here for takeout pretty much weekly. While on a road trip, it's a must-stop location.
