My wife and I wanted something different for our Friday night going out and said let's give it a try. The restaurant filled up very quickly but we did get booth. The server was very sweet. We started with the Irish Nachos as an appetizer. They were thinly sliced potatoes covered with cheese and bacon. We were surprised of the portion size. It was quite small. Thought should have been warned knowing it will be for two. It was tasty though. My wife to get a Long Island Ice Tea but in a tall glass with light mix. It came in a small thin glass. For $13 could have at least in a bigger glass. Dinner was garlic Parmesan Wings. They baked them first then fried them. Dusted with Parmesan. It was very good, but the garlic was in the bottom of the bowl. I didn't know until putting the leftover wings in a to go box. Was also surprise they added a 4% surcharge for using debit/credit card. The food was OK, and on the pricey side. The general group opinion was not a place we would go back to. There is a price to food quality. If you are paying X price there is an expectation about the food. The food wasn't bad, just that ratio wasn't there. Went a few times after they opened - had the shrimp burger (was so excited to find a place offering a shrimp burger!!) and it was pretty dang good! Hadn't been there for a while because they're pretty pricey. But tried them again today. Big mistake! They don't have the shrimp burger on the menu any more :( Had a grilled cheese/tomato/bacon sandwich with fries - way too cheesy. Fries didn't taste like fries - had a seafood taste to them (cooked in same oil as they use for some of their seafood?). With this experience, and the fact that they don't have the shrimp burger any more, we won't be back. read more

I now have to say this place is one of the top five places in the Central Florida area near Lake county. It was great. The appetizers, the beer selection, the sides, and the steaks. I had a burger with sweet potato fries. My wife had a ribeye steak with veggies and mashed potatoes which were all great. The service was great. The ambiance was comfortable. I'm giving 4 stars because when I got my draft beer the glass was at room temperature which made my pint warm in a short time. But I found out if you request a cold glass they can chill it for you so I'll be doing that next time. Food wise the pizza was a hit my wife ordered a pasta pizza and I ordered one with sausage and mushrooms and I will tell you we enjoyed both. The ingredients in my sausage pizza was lite but very tasty. Overall it's a new spot in town and everyone has growing pains at startup it gets easier as they master everything. Some tough reviews early on for this place. We tried to go a few Saturdays ago and were turned away two hours before their scheduled close time because they had "a tough day". I believe it! Huge crowds hitting a brand new establishment. Hard to find good help all over town. It's often a bumpy ride at first, so if you had a bad experience I would encourage you to give them another shot. I went for lunch today with my wife. Decent crowd. Sat down right away and treated great from beginning to end. Solid service from our waitress, Meagan. Very attentive but not over the top. She checked on us just enough and had several tables at once. She was good!!! I had the ribeye with asparagus and my wife had the WK Burger with fries. We both liked the food a lot and kept stealing off each other's plate. Nice venue. Great looking bar and eclectic menu. Pricing was not over the top...seemed about right. I hope they make it. They should have told us there could be a long delay (an HOUR) so we could have decided if we should go elsewhere. A manager should have come to our table to apologize and comp our meal. Wanted to try this place because the name caught my eye. As a whiskey (or whisky) lover, figured I couldn't go wrong. Best decision I made all month! We stayed longer than expected, enjoying a few cigars and savoring more than a few whiskeys. (Since it was Basil Hayden, I'll leave the "e"). It gave us time to really appreciate the place. First, the people are great. Attentive, smiling servers really made us feel welcome. The friendly manager came out a few times to check on us. Then the owners showed up to express their appreciation for our visit. We felt valued. The environment is outstanding. Lots of photos online so you can see for yourself that they've put forth a lot of $$ and effort in making it nice. What you won't see online is the beautiful workmanship on the floor, patio, and walkway. I only notice those things because I'm always looking down in case someone dropped a twenty... The food was very tasty - well prepared and visually appealing. The whiskey selection is outstanding. Perhaps the best part, however, is the back patio. It wasn't open when we got there but we asked to take a look. They've really spared no expense in putting it together. Inviting isn't quite the right word...maybe elegantly homey? Regardless, I can't wait to come back and enjoy the whole place AND some live music! And I almost forgot to mention - those who disparage the owners for passing along the credit card surcharge need to wake up. You're forking over that 4% at every other business in America - - even when you pay in cash. At least these folks are helping to slow the decline into a cashless, digital economy by basically offering a discount for greenbacks. This place is awesome!!! The food was great!!! I got the Hawaiian Rib Eye and it was the best thing i've ever eaten at a restaurant. Don't even get me started on the service. These are some of the most friendly and welcoming waitresses i've ever met. When I went I had Maliyah and she was amazing!!!! Very friendly and knew the WHOLE menu I highly recommend requesting for her. A friend of mine had her as a server and they were a party of 11 and Maliyah had her stuff together. Super small, comes with 4, and tastes like store bought spring rolls. The chicken Alfredo and salmon dishes were pretty bland. The saving grace was their Parmesan spinach, that was delicious. Portions for these dishes were also pretty small. The old fashioned that I got was decent, the drunken cutie was tasty but the drink was woefully weak. The brisket sandwich was good. I only visited Whiskey kitchen to watch some of the NBA playoffs. They have 8 40inchish TVs surrounding the bar. The ambiance of the bar setup is nice. My drink was a double Woodford with gingerale. We went to the restaurant July 10, 2025, I arrived at 8:12 PM. There was nobody to greet me so I quickly looked around for my party. I heard loud voice say, " may I help you?" not knowing if the "Karen" was a waitress, host, or bartender I responded, " Yes, I'm looking for my friend. " Apparently, she had magical powers because she was able to look at the 16 people that were there, and determined that none of them were my friend. Her response was., "nobody is here." when my friends arrive two minutes later, we were disappointed to find out that their Facebook information was incorrect, and that they did not have karaoke. As we were trying to determine if we were going to stay and eat she notified us that they close at 9 o'clock. It was very evident she was not interested in serving us because I am confident that the kitchen could've whipped up a few sandwiches and fries and 45 minutes. I encouraged her to make a note to change the information on the Facebook page so that it would be correct. That is where her magical powers stopped. She said that they are not able to change the info. She took her own initiative to get the manager, who was very nice and between the both of them they could not figure out why the information was incorrect and they did not invite us to stay and dine with them. We politely left and while we were in the parking lot, trying to figure out the next place to go. We noticed a party pulled up for dinner at 8:25. We told them that they better hurry because the kitchen closed at 9. Well, the magical powers must have turned back on again because they did not come back out apparently they were served.... My friends and I left and went to the Eden beer bar. They also closed at 9 PM.... however, in that 30 minutes, we were able to have six beers, with exceptional service and lots of laughs. It was a wonderful experience. We did eventually find karaoke and food at the Magical Meat Restaurant. They were amazing. An honorable mention is Serendipity, we walked past there. We went for dinner last Wednesday, it was very good. We went back the following Sunday for lunch at 1pm. We were told no food until 2pm to switch from breakfast to lunch. We waited, put our order in at 2:20 as they served all other customers that arrived after us, we were at the bar. We ordered a salad and a sandwich, this took about 35 minutes. No dressing on the salad and the pastrami sandwich was sad. It seemed as if none of the Management no servers cared. Last night we went with our friends (6) hoping a few bugs were worked out but no they were not. Sad. I must say one of the servers seemed genuinely concerned and tried to make it right but the replacement food was tasteless as well. 3rd time was not a charm. If you're like me and you live in the Mt. Dora area, you're at a dearth for good restaurants so I was excited to try this place. As an art director I can tell how much love an owner puts into his business based off the logo, and this was truly telling--the logo is generic (probably bought on Fiver for $10) and would have been 'cool' maybe 15 years ago. Dude, spend some money on your brand identity! I digress... I ordered the Cobb salad and "jumbo" wings. When the food was delivered I was instantly disappointed, the wings were far from "jumbo" ,in fact, I'd label them as emaciated. Which is OK just don't label them "jumbo". The Cobb salad was awful, and the wings were worse, sadly. This is a place where you go for a drink and a cigar, not food! The one saving grace of this experience was the service, Christa was great and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied, so props to her for salvaging a star. read more

First time visiting this establishment. I will admit, I had some doubts because of the history in this particular building. It has been home to a number of failures for over 25 years. Even John Tapper could not transform it into a successful restaurant. Drove by this place at least once a week and saw next to nothing in activity. Was happy to see it finally close to make room for a possible rebirth. I must tell you that the new owner has absolutely NAILED it! We walked in on a Tuesday evening, not expecting much of a crowd, but the parking lot was packed and a good size crowd inside.....very encouraging. The inside space has been completely transformed into an ultra stylish, yet comfortable vibe. Warm hardwoods, polished concrete floors and just the right amount of greenery. Plentiful and comfortable seating. Excellent and attentive waitstaff. Huge menu. Bar service was top notch, as evidenced by my smoked old fashioned, built properly with Woodford Reserve, a large ice cube and the proper garnishment. Packaged in a hearty rocks glass with the Whiskey Kitchen logo on it. Loved the glass so much that I actually bought one to take home. Their food is on another level as our Angus burgers were grilled to perfection and presented attractively. Pizza was very good, salad was fresh with homemade balsamic dressing. Desserts were off the charts good. Loved our bread pudding but really enjoyed the fried ice cream, coated in frosted flakes, deep fried and plated with chocolate drizzle. Very impressive. Lastly, our server, Crista was a joy to be around and we loved our interactions with her. They have a nice outdoor patio in front and a great backyard.....low key with live music on the weekends. So happy that we have yet another quality dining option in Mt. Dora...our favorite local town. We will be back. read more

The owner of this place is a nasty person. We had a contract for a rehearsal dinner for 6,000 that was all inclusive. The food was mediocre for the price and the drinks were watered down. At the end of the night they tried to give us a bill for another 6,000 for the drinks that were supposed to be included and was in a signed contract. The owner was mean and extremely rude. Do not go to this place. It's not good and they do not deserve your business. read more
