Every time I visit I meet old friends and make new ones too , there's a lot of really cool decor and even artwork and there's a free pool table to play and an electronic jukebox you can pick and play your favorite songs , the people there are so welcoming and fun and there's great deals for happy hour and so many different whiskeys and beers and drinks to choose from , I highly recommend visiting and meeting the awsome people that work there if you like making good friends this is the spot. My husband and I moved here mid March, whiskey bar is one of our main places downtown we love to go! There are fantastic bartenders, we normally have the gift of being in the presence of Jo and Dave. We love all the regulars we see when we come in on the weekend and have met a lot playing pool which is no charge! Security is always on cue. We love coming here and will continue to do so. They have the Apricot Dry Dock on tap which is delicious! Also almost every beer they have is included in the happy hour. That also includes a bunch of different spirits including whiskey which is probably the reason why you'd want to go to the "whiskey bar". We had fun treating ourselves to a game of pool in the next room which is free to play. The other arcade games that are there are switched off likely due to covid. All kinds to choose from. The prices are good usually. A Tullamore Dew is about $5 when it's happy hour. The regular prices aren't bad either for most items. It certainly feels divey. Holy moly has this bar gone down the tubes. Had been coming here for a long time, and it was an old standby that always had a rustic but classic and warm touch. That's all gone now. It now feels like a spartan cafeteria in some podunk town. The music is now louder and they seem to be going for a quasi-club vibe of some kind. It's not as bad as some bars that have gone to copy each other in the same hip-hop-for-suburban-kid way that you find nearby, but it seems to be headed in that direction. Surprisingly, we did not get whiskey at the Whiskey Bar. We instead settled on some Happy Hour priced Breckenridge drafts priced at $3 each. Happy Hour is offered everyday from 4PM-7PM. The Whiskey Bar definitely has a divey feel to it. There's a few arcade games inside. The bartender was very laid back and invited us to play a Spin the Wheel game. If you win, I buy you a drink, he says. If you lose, you buy me a drink. Everyone took a spin but each spin landed on an unexciting empty slot. There's plenty of seating at the large bar and there's a gated off patio out front. Unfortunately, the gates are super high and wrapped off with banners, so it doesn't make for a good people watching spot. The crowd at Whiskey's was quiet and relaxed. I am conflicted at what to rate Whiskey Bar. It is a pretty OK place on some level. Location rocks if you are over in over in the Coors Field area. Both Biker Jims and Marcos are close by for eats (they seem OK with you bringing food in) and it was pretty easy to find a meter on a Saturday. The atmosphere is generally just your standard LoDo bar. To sum it up: lots of seats, huge bar area and plenty of big TVs. Plus they have lots of specials going on at any time of day or night. So far, so good. Here is what I didn't like. 1) 3 TVs around the bar and they all had on was the Nebraska game (CU was playing at the time too). 2) The bar area was packed so we sat at a table by the bar and apparently it is way too much to ask to get service at the table. No, you have to go order your drinks at the bar and haul them over to your table. Boo! The only thing good about the drinks, is 2 shots and 2 pints were only $12. Can't complain about price, but I can about the lack of service. I could see popping in again if in the area, but it wasn't a slam dunk. It is definitely rough around the edges. read more

I gave them one star because it takes a lot for me to never return to a bar that has cheap drinks and daily specials due to the manager/ bartender that goes out of his way to completely ignore you. Mind you, every time I have visited, there might have been 3-5 people in there, snow days, happy hours, so never on busy nights and 10+ visits isn't a coincidence of how I leave feeling. I say all this because this is my neighborhood bar, where many times I go in alone and am already uncomfortable and I have just been turned off and slightly embarrassed every time I leave. I always feel like I was an inconvenience to them, which to me, is a little strange for a business. While exploring downtown Denver, we stumbled upon this bar. From the outset, the name immediately drew my attention as I'm a big scotch fan. Upon entering, it had the feel of a neighborhood dive bar, but in a good way. The first thing you notice inside, is the huge display of various whiskey, scotch and bourbon that is behind the bar. The sheer amount is a bit overwhelming at first. Wanting to try something new and local, I asked the bartender for a recommendation and he directed me towards the Breckinridge Bourbon. Normally I take my scotch on the rocks, but he suggested that I go neat, so that's just what I did. The bourbon was very smooth and is something I will try again in the future. They sure do have quite a whiskey selection, including stuff the owners bring back from Ireland that you can't buy here. But the emphasis (read: "what's in the dispensers for easy access since they likely sell it most") seemed to be on Scotch, which is not my thing. Bartenders were really friendly and managed well when we ambushed them during our pub crawl. But the featured drinks weren't the best I've had. My Maker's Mark Manhattan was automatically served on the rocks (I prefer it up) and without a cherry. Despite the lack of a cherry, it seemed to have maraschino liquid added to sweeten it up. I'm kind of picky about my Manhattans, so I wasn't jazzed about my sweetened drink. Maybe it was because it was half-price, or maybe it was because they prefer you sip your whiskey. The music playing was a soundtrack to my college years in the early 90s. All in all, not a bad place to enjoy some whiskey on the rocks, if that's your thing. read more

We went here on a Saturday night. Good location, walking distance from our airbnb. They have a multitude of whiskey options. I personally do not like whiskey, but both my friends liked it. They have other drink options. The Mule is not a good mule. Don't think they use ginger beer. The Colorado vodka one I had was a watered down vodka with soda. The Elevate one was slightly better. They have a pool table, foosball, pinball machines, so it's a good hangout. And not too crowded when we were there. Go there if you have whiskey lovers. When you are sports fan in the day of COVID your options are limited as to locations! Whiskey is an EVERYTHING TEXAS bar and especially home to Astros fans. The bartendar was super friendly and knowledgeable about whiskey - he had some great suggestions. The bar was clean, neat, and everyone was socially distanced.
