Coming here after church was a good idea. Sharing with a big group of 8 was also nice because of the huge sizes they gave for the fries and the entrees. The waiter was really nice and they tried to accommodate well with us. Food: I personally wanted something sweet and banana cream with waffles was it. I split that with the Quesadilla and it was savory and sweet, definitely things to get. The fries are great to share among the table and there were so much between a few guys. Banana cream waffle: delicious and hit the spot. The banana and creme were both sweet and the waffle was fluffy. California Quesadilla - definitely worth getting if you want to not eat meat. The Avocado still haunts me now because of how good it was. Disco fries - definitely can see why people get it. The cheese was delicious and the gravy was great. Wish their were more of both tho. The Whippany Diner is one of My Favorite local Diners. They never disappoint and are always serving Me some of the most consistantly delicious food around. Service is always pleasant and accommodating which is why it has that extended family sort of vibe going on, they always make Me feel very welcome here. In Jersey we have alot of Diners. It almost seems like there's one on every street corner. So when you start to single them out and say this one's great or that one is the best, it's damn near impossible. This is the worst place you'll ever go to. Not welcoming at all especially with kids. Me and my 4 friends went for brunch with our kids, all the waitresses were extremely rude to us and our kids. She came and told us to lower our voices while we're enjoying our brunch. We werent even talking when she came and said that. Very unprofessional, very unwelcoming and very rude. It had been quite a few years since I'd been to this diner, but stopped in for a late breakfast this week. The place is very nice, I think one of the better diners around. I went with the easy French Toast which was excellent, especially with some extra powdered sugar on the side. Atmosphere is cozy and friendly. AVOID! Staff are very nasty to costumers. We could not believe it. Other reviews are spot on: 1. It is as if the staff are angry & annoyed with you for coming in to dine. 2. We were seated at a small table for four when our party was five. The diner was empty but we were given an attitude when politely asked to sit elsewhere. We were then moved to an even smaller table. 3. Food is served barely luke warm. When asked for it to be heated up we were told no & "that's how they serve it". Be careful this seems unsafe and was not enjoyable. 4. No refills, napkins, or crayons for kids. 5. Check your bill! Two parties were over charged & hostess/cashier tried to not check the bill stating "her bills are always right". 6. & To top it off the staff follows you out the door demanding a bigger tip than 15% - on an unpleasant experience! The Whippany Diner is a decent place to eat. If I ended the review there it would pretty much tell you all you needed to know. As diners go, it's nothing special. The menu is large, but nothing stands out as exciting or original. Everything you'd expect to find on a diner menu is there. The restaurant is clean and well maintained, including the bathrooms (which is always a nice surprise). The waitress who served us was very friendly and accommodating. Our food arrived quickly. Like everything else about the Whippany Diner, it was nothing great, but it was decent. My father's BLT was made the way he asked, and the bacon was properly cooked. My pastrami Rueben wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't bad. The pastrami was a bit rubbery and they forgot the 1000 Island dressing, but that was easily and quickly remedied. It came with fries, along with coleslaw and 1/4 of pickle, which I thought a bit odd. I realize this doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, but I'd honestly have no hesitation about returning. I've been going to Whippany diner for three months. Now that doesn't seem like a long theme to most but here's the story. I'm here in NJ looking for a place to buy. I have a place in Cambridge MD, Palm Springs CA and I live most of the time in Cornwall England. In fact, I came here from England on Sept 10th. Every morning I go to Whippany Diner for breakfast. I sit in the same booth in the back and I'm waited on by Estelle. As a diabetic I order pretty much the same thing.... it usually involves eggs. I really love the place, the food and have made friends with many of the locals. But here's the problem. Last night, Thursday, December 3rd, I decided to go there and have dinner.... Stuffed Flounder with Crabmeat. It Really is a great dish.... go there and try it. Hit there at about 5:30pm. There's two booths taken, two people at the bar and two people sitting at a table on the right as soon as you walk in. That's it!!! Wait staff all standing around. I believe the owners son, the cook, and their daughter, running the cash register/ hostess were there. I was asked if it was just me dinning and said yes and said I will sit in the back.... were I always sit. I sat there and was told I needed to move to a table for one. I said, I prefer to sit here and said I always sit here. She left came back and said I need to move to a table for one as "We need to keep social distancing with the tables". I said there are 7 tables here, there is No One back here and you want me to move to the table right next to this table??? I then said no, I'm happy where I'm at. She then said, "I was told you need to move." Again there was No One in the Diner other than what I mentioned and they were not in the area. I got up and LEFT. You don't want my budiness..... No Worries. There are plenty of places to eat without being bullied to sit at a Two-Top when the customer wants to sit in a booth. Nobody was there ... and now in a Climate like we are all in, they have just lost an income. There's more I could say, but you get my drift ! read more

My son spilt his drink and it wasn't until about 10 minuets someone came by to help clean it they didn't even have napkins for us to do it , my parents had to wait until after our check for them to get a coffee refill . Ok now I am a strong proponent of diners. I love all diners, however you have to really mess up to make me mad. So my wife and her sister ordered chicken gyros tonight from Whippany Diner, they called earlier to ask what the description of the chicken gyro, and what they were told, as opposed to the appearance and taste was much to be desired. Their chicken gyro, which I believe was more so another meat, think more legs, was grey, fatty, and had an odd taste. There was a random red sauce on the pita, and the lettuce in the pita was discolored. Now I am one to literally eat anything, however I tried this and spit it out. It tasted greyer than it looked. I would say to proceed to this location with caution. There are better diners around than this place. When my wife called to tell the owner how it tasted she was told she was wrong, and that they would never make it that way. Not apologetic, not even open to constructive criticism. Just acted as mundane and lowly as their chicken gyro looked and tasted. We ate left over pudding instead. read more

Stopped by for breakfast this morning, as I had some time to spare. The hostess was pleasant, and my server was polite. No one was really friendly, maybe it's just me.
