    Pattie Melt

Small old school diner updated just enough to keep it current. Spotless. Amazing service! Truly the best service we have ever received from a diner. We were there on a Saturday afternoon at lunch and it was a full house. How ever hard I tried my coffee cup never made it to empty without being refilled. The food was excellent as well. I order the same breakfast every time I go to any diner. A spinach and feta omelette. Some diners call it Florentine. Some call it a Greek. The preparation was perfect. Firm, no burn spots, super fresh spinach and just the right amount of feta. The home fries were on point as well. My wife ordered the patty melt which she said was superb. Again, perfectly prepared. The fries were terrific as well. The Whippany Diner was in our regular rotation for many years and then we stopped going altogether. I have no idea why but we will certainly return again soon. A top notch diner for sure. Give it a go!

Stopped by on a weekday for a late lunch after work. It is pretty standard as far as diner food. I was seated immediately. I got my meal pretty quickly after giving my order. My server was really nice. After you're done, you're given your receipt and you pay at the counter by the entrance. There is plenty of parking. It's easy to get back on route 10 going east or west as well which is convenient.

Typical diner with fast service and familiar food choices. The patty melt was delicious. The Cuban panini was very good. They serve Pepsi and not Coke but don't disclose that when you order.

Came here twice during 4th of July weekend and ordered the Eggs Benedict two days in a row. The first day, the Benny's were cooked and on the second day those Benny's were oozing out once that fork cut through the middle. Changed our order from hash potatoes to French fries since were saw them on someone else's plate. My friend had the pancakes and they were fluffy. Next day, he had the egg white omelette and was please with his meal. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating with menu changes. Owner of restaurant engaged in conversation as she walked by. As you walk into the Whippany Diner it's a very homey feel. Locals dine here. I use to come here to dine when we have to come up for corporate meeting and one of the favorite places was to meet up at Whippany Diner. Will be back next time in the neighborhood.

The food was ok, and we were promptly seated upon arrival. Our initial service was quick, and the food arrived in a reasonable time frame. However, as the restaurant became busier, I noticed that the owner, who initially welcomed us warmly, kept looking over at our table repeatedly. Towards the end of our meal, we wanted to order some more coffee, but it seemed to slip the hostess's mind. When we requested a warm-up, another waiter came cleared our plates prematurely, asking for coffee was a communication issue and when we asked for coffee the waiter look at us confused. The rushed service made us feel uncomfortable, even though our dining time was relatively short, around 35-40 minutes and that includes waiting for food. While the food and initial service were good, the constant attention from the owner and the rush to clear our table left a less-than-ideal impression. It's unfortunate because we would have liked to enjoy our coffee and stay a bit longer. This experience may make us hesitate to return when we come back to this area for a visit.

On the way in, I asked if they have breakfast specials. The answer was, "yes." The check for eggs, meat & coffee came to $14.95 on a weekday morning. I told owner, "Jimmy," that a diner up the street in Livingston does the same for $7.95 including meat. "I don't believe it." "No, it's true," I advised. Jimmy, the "Master of Customer Service," told me in a nasty voice that it's impossible and he doesn't believe me. Say what? The breakfast was fine and the server very nice. She received a 25% gratuity, but old Jimmy won't see me again for sure. To offer full disclosure, I advised James to take a customer service course. This is my first negative review ever, as I don't believe in potentially affecting someone's business. But this guy is very special.

We ordered a Diet Coke, Water, French onion soup $9 and a Fig and Pear Pizza $18. My BF enjoyed the French onion soup $9. We shared the Fig and Pear Pizza. The pizza was personal size and delicious. It's under the category of Appetizers. It had Mozzarella cheese, blue cheese, pear, fig, spinach, cauliflower crust, honey & balsamic glaze. It was more than enough for two people. Service was good. The Thirsty Turtle has indoor and outdoor seating. The bathroom was clean. In addition, it has a very large parking lot. The restaurant doesn't face the street. It's located way in the back of a strip mall. I would come back!

It used to have a cola glaze, but these just had some seasoning. The nachos were just ok. The Cuban pressed panini was not pressed...just a roll. The side of rice was over cooked and bland. And the kids pasta meals were not good. They barely had two bites. The only thing they ate was the ice cream, which we had to remind the server about. Overall, I am so disappointed. I honestly can't say I would ever come back. Very sad.

A large venue with a large lounge, enormous cigar selection, full bar & restaurant. Staff were very helpful & friendly. You have to take your time and look through this place just to appreciate it. They even have ashtrays mounted on the wall between urinals so you truly never have to leave your cigar behind, lol. They have a huge parking lot as they sit on a site all their own. I was surprised to learn that when ordering food (not desserts or drinks) you get a cigar with it. You don't choose it, they do. I got a 'Romeo y Julieta Reserve,' so a quality cigar, not some random nonsense. Not truly sure if that is every time, or just your first time there, which for me it was. I ordered their parm garlic wings & they were very good and well prepared. The space is great & very comfortable. Servers come to you and take your order and bring your food, so you never have to even leave your lounge chair. I found 4 cigars that I hadn't been able to find elsewhere & 2 cigars that I ended up ordering online in the past. Now I know where to find all 6 for future enjoyment. Prices on everything are fair. For 5 cigars, food, non-alcoholic drink, & tip I spent about $110 & got a good complimentary cigar. This place will be highly recommended by me moving forward.

You do get a free cigar (which is actually a pretty nice, brand name stick in most cases) with your meal, which I am sure goes with the cost. Before the world went utterly insane with inflation ... It used to be one of the best deals ever. The food was $12.95 plus the free cigar! Now, it's more like $23 per sandwich. Owch. The best value was the cheese plate, which at $15 was huge and included fruit. Now, that cheese platter is actually smaller than it used to be and costs $44! The decor is pretty cool ... dark and moody ... but there are a couple TVs with sports playing and high ceilings. The air purification makes it smell a lot less like cigar smoke than it used to ... but know that whatever clothes you wear here will likely need a dry cleaning after. The waitresses have been here forever ... and there are a lot of regulars. Imagine what a guy would look like that would want to smoke a cigar while eating and that's exactly what you will find here as a customer. Fake Sopramos accent ... beefy ... loud ... gold chain ... It's a 'bro crowd' for sure with some flashy investment banker types mixed in. Lots of Hummers and G-Wagons in the parking lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cigars. The food is edible and in some cases even good. But nothing amazing. I've had the corned beef sandwich ... don't expect NYC deli quality ... the flatbread (Trader Joe's is just as good) ... and the Cuban sandwich. All okay. The Cuban left me hungry. You can also eat at the bar and peruse their extensive whiskey and beer menu. The drinks are pricey, so a sandwich, a beer ... and I guess you could count the free cigar ... come to around $40, after tip.
