At my work, people know I am always on the hunt for a new place to go for lunch. A while ago, two people told me about this "great sandwich place that they used to go to in their old hometown" (not the same hometown, btw) and that a new one was just opened in Lone Tree by the mall. What were the odds of two people giving me to same recommendation within a couple days of each other? I was sure it was divine providence. Wrangling up the usual suspects, we headed over to the store. Bad news, the parking lot is tiny, packed with cars, and difficult to navigate. I managed to wedge my Malabu into a parking spot. Its lunch time in suburbia and this place is getting business like it's the only Chinese food restaurant on Christmas Day. I practically race inside the store trying to beat others to the counter. What am I greeted with? One of the most incomprehensible ordering systems known to man. "Hello. Welcome to Which Wich! Please take a moment to completely redefine everything you have every known about ordering food in a restaurant." I remember when I played Myst for the first time. You started the game, some stuff happened, and you were left just standing there in a room. You could walk around an apparently abandoned island, but nothing happened. After hours of carefully observing nothing, you began to realize how to play. Which Wich's "grab-a-bag" system made me feel the same way. After picking out a meat-genre and selecting the corresponding bag, I was given a pop-quiz. The sandwich options are laid out on the bag like a scantron test in school. I started to panic. I was told there would be no math. Luckily, all the questions were about a subject I had been studying for a long time, eating. With my now completed eating test in hand, I waited in the line to turn it in. When asked, I go for the chips and the drink. The total for a sandwich with chips and a pop is under $10. This place had better be as good as I had been told. The counter guy hangs my order-bag on a laundry line and slides it down to the preparers. At this point I lose track of what is happening. I fill my drink, sit down, and chit-chat for a bit. After what feels like an eternity of thinking that they are calling out my name, but other people are stealing my food, they actually call out my name. Let me stress this point, I really had a hard time trying to be all cool hanging out with my pals while keeping an ear out for my name to be called. The names all sound the same and the sandwiches all look the same sitting there on the counter. I was certain that some determined thief was just waiting to nab my food. Anyway, I get my sandwich. So here it is, the reason you had read this far. How good was the food? After all the hype, crowds, learning, and paranoia, the sandwich was.... Okay. It was nothing to write home about. As a matter of fact, I think I like Subway better. You get to specify what you want on your sandwich at both restaurants, so the only difference is the bread. Which Wich gives you two choices: White or Wheat? Neither one is fantastic. Bread makes the meal, and Subway wins the taste test hands down. I left disappointed. I thought "Maybe I need to experiment. I need to find my perfect sandwich at this store." I have been back probably five times now and I am starting to think the "perfect sandwich" is not going to happen. On the plus side, I am really starting to dig the whole menu-bag thing. Bottom line: Don't buy the hype. Which Wich is okay, but it is not the sandwich messiah. You can probably get the same quality of food for a better price elsewhere. read more

This is the best sandwich shop, EVER! What an amazing concept - I mean, I don't know how many times I've placed an order and they've gotten it wrong. With the bags, you mark exactly what you want and it goes with the sandwich so that they can make it exactly to your specifications. I love it. I once ate here every day of the week, it's that good. I don't think there are many sandwich shops you can go to and create a yummy lunch out of just veggies. I am not a vegetarian, but it is fun to try new creations every now and again. And it gives a new spin to the brown bag lunch. Check off what you want and the instructions for the person making the sandwich are right there. This is the first time I've been to this location, but they are consistent with the other locations, which is important in any chain. They are fast, friendly and a good value. A little hard to find the first time and parking can be a pain during a busy lunch, but they are good. One of the only places left that you can get the krab salad on a regular basis. read more

Step in the door, grab yourself a paper bag menu, a red marker and decide which-which sandwich to order. It sounds easy but in reality it's not. They have so many different sandwich options and add-ons you could spend your lunch break just deciding what to eat. The good news is you probably can't go wrong ! I love this place--the ingredients are good, the prices are reasonable, and you get to design your own sandwich! Also, this is not your typical Subway style "design your own sandwich" place, they have a huge number of possible ingredients, including ones that my co-workers and I had never heard of, and had to look up on google when we got back! As a vegetarian, I usually find that there is one sandwich in every sandwich shop that is meatless, and there is only so many adds/subs I can do to get something different. I am all about their concept of checking off what you want on the bag and then there is no confusion whatsoever of what you wanted on your sandwich. This is especially useful when people making your sandwiches don't know enough English to take your orders correctly. (Although they may not mess up on your sandwich orders, they may mess up on your drink orders, so be aware). However, I have come to realize that if you check off too many sandwich toppings, they don't end up putting all of them on due to space issues. So be sure to just pick your top 3 or 4 toppings. The sandwiches are aiiight. I was not head-over-heals having any food-related palate orgasms over their sandwiches. I had the shrimp po'boy, which actually is NOT real shrimp! It's some artificial shrimp-flavored dough acting as fried shrimp. My husband had the BBQ pork, which was average as well. Oh man do I love Which Wich! They've got about 60 base sandwiches to start with and endless add ins. Pretty much whatever you're in the mood for they have one. I mean a monte cristo sandwich. Need I say more. Like most the staff was friendly. The food was good and always right. The only thing that sucks is the parking lot. Why? How? What?! Well you see it's like a death trap. I don't understand how but it's so packed and people have such large SUVs and there is a line to get in the lot. If you don't die while driving through the lot I wish you the best of lucking finding a free parking space as the lot holds like !5 spot. I no joke saw an old lady hit a man walking through it. I visited this place on Monday, 03/28/2011. Here is what I thought... FOOD: I love love love the fact that you can customize your sandwich here. I am an incredibly picky eater so any time you can customize your order, I'm IN! I had the Italian sub, and it was great--messy, but so yummy! It's made fresh right in front of you...and they even toast it. It's adorable how you fill out a paper bag for your customized sandwich and they give it right to you wrapped up in foil in that very same bag. It's very nice if you are doing multiple orders at lunch, you can place the person's name on the bag. SERVICE: The service was good. Cashier wasn't particularly friendly, but the staff making the sandwiches made up for that. VENUE: The store was clean, and kind of a neat design for the décor. My husband and I stopped in for a Sunday afternoon lunch. It was pretty busy, but service was fast and there were plenty of seats. Lots of options--they offer just about every sandwich imaginable--and as someone else mentioned, it's nice to select your toppings without having to walk it down the line. The sandwiches were tasty (I had a reuben that was decent, my husband had a fantastic Italian grinder), and the shakes were thick and yummy. My only real complaint is the bread offerings. I'd like more of a choice than white or wheat, especially for a reuben. Service was prompt and friendly, and the dining room was comfortable--they even had newspapers out to flip through while you wait for your food. I will definitely be back! read more

I frequently attend this which which location and today the food was subpar very disappointing. I ordered a turkey sandwich as usual cold not hot the onion on the sandwich was the rotten skin of an onion. Absolutely disgusting as well the tomato was old and soggy. I ordered blue cheese on it but it came with feta not blue. I'll attach a picture is possible. Also the lady in the front refused to five me a receipt cuz she said there out of ink. I waited 7min to get a receipt which came to find out was because she was too lazy to put a new roll of paper in. Giving 2 stars because this is the 1st disappointing experience I've had here, Won't be going back for awhile! read more

Here's the deal: If Lacey M and Jason S give a place 5 stars, just go. You don't need to read any further. They won't steer you wrong. This was no exception. I had never heard of it until I saw Lacey's review, and Jason's followed. I took advantage of my lunchtime to run over there and check it out. So here's how it works: You walk in, grab a brown paper bag and mark off what you want on your sandwich. You pay and wait a few minutes whilst noshing on some house chips (seriously, these are good, thick-cut, wavy potato chips seasoned with salt and pepper, get them!) Then they call your name and hand you your bag back, only now it's stuffed with your freshly-made sammich! (This all seems, hmmm, what's the word? Efficient. Who'da thunk it?) Let me break this one down for ya: Italian grinder - salami, pepperoni, capicola. MMMMMMM. I asked for: Red onions - FRESH! I mean really fresh! Impressive! Lettuce - the right amount, not enough to mask any flavors. Tomatoes - see onions, above. Hot pepper mix - very good, again, not overwhelming. Seasonings - so many to choose from, I took oregano, salt, pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes, along with some fat-free italian dressing. Bread - a fresh wheat roll, very tasty, about 6 inches long, not too thick yet strong enough to carry it's load. Now, if I were to critique, I would say why charge a buck for a pickle on the side? Come on, man! It's a pickle. Throw me a bone! (Or a pickle.) For a good sandwich, come here. I need to try another couple of menu items, and I think a shake would be in order next time. read more

I thought it was over. I thought I could never find a quick, delicious, fresh-tasting, interestingly-flavored, diverse, sandwich shop, outside of a local butcher/deli. In my opinion: Subway is terrible Jimmy John's is boring Quizno's is sloppy (not even listing the "other" fast-food sandwich places that are all blah) In steps Which Wich! I had an excellent gyro and house chips, with tons of flavoring and actually tasted GOOD. THe variety at this place rules and the environment was unique, giving a local feel (with newspapers clipped to a rotating area which doubled as a standing-table) and a funky vibe that Jimmy John's has lost. This was my least satisfactory experience with Which Wich so far, as otherwise I have nothing but good things to say about it. My friend had never been there, so I suggested we stop here for a quick lunch. I usually go to the one in Highlands Ranch. Anyway. First the kid at the cash register charged me for 2 drinks instead of one. After I pointed it out to him, he offered me another drink (um no...I don't need another one) and then offered some additional punches on my card. *sigh* Then my friend's pulled pork sandwich looked suspiciously like turkey (I don't think pulled pork is supposed to look like sliced deli meat?)...with olives...that she didn't order. She took it back to the counter WITH the bag that had her selections marked off, and they said it was correct. Mmmmm....maybe they were too busy to deal with it? I'm all for the efficient order and fulfillment system that they have going. However I guess they aren't really used to stopping to deal with issues. read more

Which Wich is a great lunch spot in the Park Meadows area. You get to pick exactly what you want on your sandwich by checking off items on a brown paper bag. Put your name on the bag, go up to the register and pay. Add chips, soda, milkshake or cookie to the order at that time too. The line workers then assemble all the sandwiches, send through through a toaster (all sandwiches are toasted) and then wrap them up, put them in your original brown paper bag and you're off. Absolutely love this place. There are places where you love the atmosphere, and some where you love food. Sometimes you like both and sometimes you like neither. I love both at Which Wich. First, the food. Delicious. I am not quite sure either because it seems like a normal sandwich but it just tastes absolutely delicious. Another great thing about the food is the taste is very consistent. I have never had a bad sandwich there. The ordering system is great. The first time I think it slows you down (my wife who likes to really mull things over likes that part of it). However, once you understand how the bag ordering system works it is incredibly fast and efficient to go in and order. I went about a week ago, walked in, grabbed my bag, took about 20 seconds to mark off what I like on it, walked up and paid. It was about a minute total. Very fast and efficient and you never find yourself three people down in the line with the person compiling your sandwich yelling "do you want lettuce?" and you have to yell over other people to tell him yes/no. You simply give them your bag and sit down until they call you up. I love places that nail both atmosphere and food. Which Wich is exactly that kind of place. read more

I'll make it short and sweet...this place was great. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. The sandwich menu had some interesting choices you probably won't find at too many 'fast-food-style' sandwich shops. The sandwich I ordered was made pretty quickly and tasted great - it was toasted and all of the ingredients tasted super fresh (I had the 'Thank You Turkey' with stuffing and cranberry). They had a pretty unique and efficient way of ordering, which some others already described in their reviews here. Although the sandwich was not very big (all sandwiches were 7 inches, 14-inch sandwiches soon to be offered, according to the employee), it was enough for lunch along with a bag of chips. I want to tell you all something, I hit a personal goal. I diligently designed the perfect sandwich by using a red sharpie & a paper bag in less than four visits to a which wich in the Denver metro. When you stumble across a new chain, you deduce the challenge it presents you. Which Wich gave me a completely different experience in ordering something to my tastes, & if they bothered to do that I figured I'd bother to give them the chance to give me perfection. To which, I am happy to say, I believe is within reach. If you want to give them a try, it's less than $7 to get a 7" sandwich for your lunch, which is probably all you need to be spending anyway if you bothered making that kind of "exhausting" commute to work for a measly morsel in some endless cycle these economic times in which which we all have had to adjust to. If you've never been to a Which Wich or an establishment that may have a similar order system; I'll try to explain it to you: remember those fifth grade reading novels they kind of pushed on you during the Scholastic sale? The ones where you get to decide on what lousy choice to make at least four or five steps into the reading cycle? I know what you're thinking, "those always had crappy endings" Yeah, so did your last D&D game, that does not mean you didn't enjoy the moment. Back to the point, the options totally make sense in food selection. So grab a bag, grab a pen, and deduce your heart's content starting out with a few essential questions. Bread, Base, etc... The Hula is my favorite to start with; what to do to Ham & Pineapple on toasted white/white bread? Sounds very Tropic to me, so it's a BBQ, with whatever sounds like it matches with Ham or Pineapple...Ham makes me think of Swiss; and I just keep adding on to that :) They grab your bag, prep it down the line, and you get your meal on the spot and fresh. I've been pretty pleased with the end result; while I think I might have a tad too much toasted bread to deal with sometimes but never bother ordering double veggies. They are very accommodating in your request. If I have to give it a negative, it would be an ironic one. Yes, it is located where I can come and go in a 30 minute lunch time frame within a mile or so from it; but that is pretty much only the case if you travel by car. This is not a pedestrian or cyclist friendly strip mall, as you'd expect in the area. You can get there from light rail if you don't mind the asphalt jungle of Park Meadows Mall :) read more

Boy am I glad my company ordered Which Wich for lunch one day. The sandwiches are incredible. It has easily become my favorite sandwich shop in the entire Denver area. I don't know if you are familiar with a sandwich shop called Potbelly Sandwich Works in Chicago, but this is the closest I have tasted to their perfection. First of all, the ordering process is excellent. You pick out your paper bag with the type of sandwich you want. Example, I ALWAYS get the Italian sandwich. Then you choose what type of Italian sandwich such as: grinder, meatball, etc. Then you mark all of your fixings that you want included. Thats it. Hand the bag to the cashier, pay, and wait. My only gripe is that they don't have more locations...like downtown. Anyways, go here. read more

I've been to one of these joints in the past, and it's well decent. It's horribly confusing to order, but there's always a nice employee to explain how to order. (think of The Counter and it's similar) So no, you don't go up to the register, say I want this sandwhich, but write it down on the paper bag they're about to put your sandwhich in. Overall, the service is meh as it took a good while for my sandwhich, the bread is very chewy and I like some crunch to my bread, the ingredients were good and fresh. (dijon mustard seemed really good, much better than the S word's) It's a solid joint, but good luck finding parking as this strip mall gets horribly packed. You're better off doing what I did which is park across the street and risk your life running across the street with your sandwhich and drink. read more

Which Wich is so easily forgotten until you have a Hula sandwich with your endless choice of toppings and realize what you've been missing. Then you realize that you wish you would have gotten the larger size so you weren't so damn upset when you finish your last bite. This location is in a location that struggles for parking, so I think that has a major effect on the business. It's always half empty! And that is great for you as you order, pay and get all within 10 minutes. Regardless of the wait time, it's worthwhile for $9 or so to get the delicious fresh bread with that taste that reminds you of your childhood. I would highly recommend the Hula, but there are so many options, I would venture to say the others are just as good. SHAMEFUL. I recently visited on a weekend during lunch rush hour (which ok, was my first mistake) and I couldn't believe how shitty my sandwich was. They totally threw it together. Finally, a good, quick lunch besides Chipotle where you can get a tasty meal from $5 and some change - beats other places like spicy pickle and noodles which are great but $9 or so. The sandwich was much better than expected. Definitely dig this place over Heidis. They are really good sandwiches, they are pretty quick, well priced and its nice and clean. Better than Subway by far. I drive out of my way (and suffer the traffic on Arapahoe) to go by Which Wich on my way home often. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Turkey, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and especially the Club...love the Club! I tried the Thank You Turkey but it was a little too weird for my tastes. Don't feel intimidated by the options, I did the first time! But I went with what I knew and I was still pleasantly rewarded with a warm, filling sandwich. I went here for the first time over the weekend...early before the lunchtime crowd hit on Saturday. I had the Chicken Parmesan sandwich..it was very tasty. I enjoyed the whole ordering process, but i forgot to write my name on the bottom...maybe next time I'll do it right. Even with the instructions right in front of them, they still forgot to give me my pickle spears, which I got by going and asking the cashier as he appear to be the only one behind the counter that was speaking English. First time I got the Wich of the Day. It was a nacho sandwich thing... wow! And the second time I tried the Chicken Cordon Blue... amazing! I'm definitely a fan of WW? and can't wait to go back. I used to be a regular here as my office used to be just around the corner. The sandwiches are great if you do them right. If you are a plain jane sandwich person, it is a pretty meh sandwich. Go for the gold and put a lot of fixin's on there to really make it wonderful! The service is really hit or miss. The speed of service again, really hit or miss. The last time we were there it took about 10 minutes for them to make the sandwich, and then they screwed up my wife's sandwich (which they remade) but that was another 10 minutes. On a 1 hour lunch, 20 minutes of sandwich making is a huge bummer. Anyways, it is a good sandwich, I just wish it was faster / more accurate during the lunch rushes. read more

I like the way this place works. It's just different, not your everyday sandwich place. The sandwiches are good, and there is a great deal of variety so it's easy to find something that suits your mood. The way it works is you go in, pick a paper sandwich bag from the kiosk and fill in your sandwich preferences. Then, give it to the cashier and wait for it to go down the assembly line. My personal favorite: buffalo chicken, toasted, with spicy mayo, buffalo sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncini, salt, and pepper. Mmm Mmm Good! This location can get pretty busy during the lunch hour because of all the business and Park Meadows mall nearby. read more

As far as sandwich places go, this one knocks the socks off all the rest of them! They have soooo many choices, you could come in here every day for months and never eat the same thing twice. Lots of great vegetarian choices, too. They toast the bread to perfection and really don't skimp on the toppings. I would have given five stars because I'm Colorado proud, but the service at this location has been steadily deteriorating since they made a few staffing changes about a year ago. Now, most of the servers are indifferent. They don't greet you when you come in or when you leave, even if the place is empty. There's one woman, whom I think must be a shift lead or something, she has dyed black hair and is a bit chubby - this woman acts like taking your order and making your sandwich is a damned inconvenience. I would be happy to give the last star if they would hire more pleasant people. read more
