I have passed by this bakery for years not realizing you could come and sit, eat, drink coffee/tea, do work or meet up with people. I knew it was a bakery, so my goal was to just go in and grab a fresh loaf of garlic sourdough bread. Oh man, this place is chalk full of goodness! Reddings secrete is out! This is a great place to grab fresh pastries, cookies, pies (even by the slice) but also savory items like bacon, sausage or veggie quiche. Perfect for a quiet work space or to meet up with large groups. There's tons of space to spread out either at a table upstairs or at the bar. They serve local roasters coffee here (Feast) and organic teas. The service was excellent as the lady helping me answered all my questions. I will absolutely be back. read more

I just started going here when I was on a quest for a chocolate croissant. LOL! So yes, the chocolate croissants are really very, very good. They're large, light, and flakey. There's a generous layer of dark chocolate filling. I could get addicted to these things! I've recently tried their almond croissant, which is topped with toasted almonds and a lightly sweetened crumble. The filling on the almond croissant is marzipan, which is just perfect in this croissant. Their dinner roll croissants make wonderful sandwiches and are great toasted. Cheesecake...it's one of the better cheesecakes I've had locally. (though not as good as mine! LOL!) I tried the strawberry, which is topped with a strawberry mousse. The cheesecake has a very light tang and had good flavor. Cookies...unfortunately, not worth the $6.00. I got oatmeal raisin, which was not particularly good at all. It was dry and dense. The chocolate chip was good, but not great. I haven't eaten there yet, but the restaurant is huge, with seating upstairs. It's has sort of an industrial chic appearance. The staff is polite and attentive. There are so many more yummies there that I want to try! Glad I bypassed my normal bakery/coffee spot and tried this place out. :) read more

Best organic sourdough bread (crisp crust, chewy tangy center) and and key lime pie in town! Favorites are the Kalamata olive bread and the jalapeño cheddar though the plain sourdough is delicious also. These are my go-to for parties along with my home made garlic Basil pesto with hand-roasted cracked black peppercorns. Yum! So glad that Nathan branched out and now has his own place. The cookies here are huge, about the size of saucers and there is a great selection of pies on any given day: apple, cherry, blackberry/mixed berry, peach; as well as fresh cheesecake and cream puffs. I recommend you stay away from this place if, like me, your eyes are bigger than your stomach! Or if you're on a diet lol. Coffee here is decent but it's not a typical place to hang out in if you want a place to do work. Pro tip: call ahead to reserve a freshly made loaf of the kalamata olive bread - this is the star product in my opinion and they commonly run out. read more

We were running around looking for lunch when we spotted a new (to us) restaurant/bakery. Upon entering, we were happy to smell such good things, the atmosphere was great too, you can watch as the bakers were busy at their craft. We had Turkey with cheese panini, sausage quiche, citrus tea and finished with a slice of chocolate pie and raspberry cheesecake. We were in heaven, our tastebuds were dancing for joy! Before we left, we decided to get a freshly baked loaf of sourdough rye. We were helped by the owner who was friendly and fun! Just then, they pulled a freshly baked pizza from the oven. I had heard so many great things, I, the foodie, had to try this place. Superb. It's decorated with cute tables and lights, so it feels warm and inviting. The service was excellent, and it's apparent that this is a cultural thing here. They're sincerely happy for you to be here. The food was wonderful. Ham and cheese croissant was next level. The pizza had wonderful and innovative ingredients making it fascinating and delightful. The quiche was one of the best I've personally ever had. I didn't try any sweets because sugar kills my soul :-( but the array of treats surpasses most places in the north state. WPMB is a gem. Greetings - I had just recently learned of your place so I thought I'd check it out for lunch today. I saw the sign for the BBQ lunch special and that sounded great. Sadly in a fresh bakery, the sandwich was pre-made and sitting in the cooler. The sign said that it was a BBQ sandwich, but there was no sign of anything BBQ on it. The romaine lettuce leaf was wilty, and discolored and there was just a hint of dressing on the top bread...not bbq, so I added some of the buffalo mayo aioli from your caddy. The sign advertised a pickle with the sandwich, and none was provided. The croissant roll was quite cold...so cold, that the bottom piece of it was nearly frozen, and so hard, that I struggled to bite through it. I finally gave up on biting it and got a steel steak knife from your caddy. Even with the steel knife, it was quite hard to cut through, and as a master cabinet maker, I know how to use sharp tools. With all of the hype surrounding your tasty quality, I was very underwhelmed. All other sandwich shops in town don't make their sandwiches ahead of time to then be placed in a cooler to dry out. The CC cookies were very gooey good and the only bright spot in a very mediocre lunch. Your fresh baked breads are very good and perhaps you should take the same care to create fresh made sandwiches. For $22.10 I could have had 3 fresh made burgers at In N Out, The Habit, or Wendy's. Next time I'll choose one of those spots or the Olive Garden as a good value for fresh food option. I'll not be recommending your place for sandwiches. read more

I always try to have my favorite pie on my birthday. That is Banana Cream pie with a meringue topping. Ordered one by phone last year to pick up on my birthday. Got there and they said they didn't have a pie for me! No apology or anything. Bought a berry pie. So this year with so few pie making choices in town we went by without a pre-order (why pre-order) and got a banana cream pie from the display case. I cut into it at home and all the bananas inside were going black! What the hey! You don't put a spoiled and black banana into a pie filling. Sorry, not ever buying another pie here again. read more

The outcome? They were touched and delighted! My favorite bread is a sourdough base (not too overwhelming), with walnuts, figs and craisins. The display shows their lovely bakery items that can be purchased by the piece which is a wonderful option when you live with others who have serious food restrictions. The seating is spread out for privacy and there is a balcony which offers a lovely spot for family and friends who want a little distance. Just walk in and try it. We went in for an early evening snack and found this terrific family business. The ladies were pleasant, helpful and the baked goods were fresh and displayed extremely well. The tables were arranged so that it would be possible during daytime hours to watch them actually rack up fresh baked goods to take to the retail side of the space. It was a large area arranged for a cozy feeling. The cookies, scones, pies and quiches smelled and looked delicious. I enjoyed a fresh peach scone that was so huge I could only eat half. The girls gave me some Saran Wrap to keep the rest fresh in the provided bakery box for my long trip back home. I told them that if I lived up in that area I would weigh 300 lbs. because everything looked so good. A definite revisit if I return up north! read more

This is such a great local spot. The bread and pastries are excellent. The space has a lot of potential as a place for the community to come and meet together. I would love to see the decor come into more cohesion, but understand that the business is new and they probably have a vision for further interior decorating. A note or suggestion I have on that (for the business) is to that the blue and white theme they have going and tie the tables and chairs into that. Painting the chairs white and using seat covers with cute fabric would create visual cohesion that will elevate that atmosphere, making it more appealing and inviting for people who want a place to hang out for awhile. I live in Round mountain and found out about this place simply because I took my 82 yr old dad to the super cuts in front of this place, went a bought their sourdough pizza while waiting for Dad and my dad says the pizza is the best he's ever had in his life in which the entire family agreed! Came into town Sunday and was told there's a two day wait for pizza but I talked to Adrian (not sure if I'm spelling her name right) the lady who owns this establishment made an exception and made me two pizzas!!! I've gotten cookies that are to die for, banana nut bread you just want to curl up in because the smell alone will put you in comatose , I've gotten a s'mores cake for my sons Birthday and now I've just put in an order for a carrot cake that I know will knock my socks off!!! Walked in without knowing much about it, but was pleasantly surprised. Lots of nice stuff in the case. Got a small apricot pie that was quite good that easily serves 2 or 3 for $7.50. Not a bad deal. My mom ordered and picked up a few pies for her birthday from When Pie Meets Bread. The employees and owner were incredibly helpful during the ordering process and rude beyond belief on the day of pick up. Because I was not a part of the drama I am not going to relay details of the conversation but I will comment on the actual food. In the store, they stacked the small pies on top of the plastic window, breaking the barrier (not the worst tragedy in the world but annoying). The crust on the key lime was definitely over cooked (burnt on the edges and a very gritty texture). Overall, the presentation was lacking (the pies were given to us with those chunks of crust missing) with an extremely unappealing glaze on the strawberry pie. The filling in the key lime was delicious and their freshly whipped cream topping was great. the strawberry pie wasn't terrible (I couldn't bring myself to eat a ton) but the strawberries were semi-frozen in the center. My sister-in-law agreed that it was just ok. For a $24 pie that the owner herself said wouldn't be good the next day, we definitely expected it to be better than okay... I'm hoping that they were just having a bad day because their store front is absolutely adorable and I really like pie. read more

My husband has been craving blueberry scones for over a month we went into our meets bread in Redding ca . They did not have any they make them on occasion, but said they would make us some. They would be ready in the morning. The first batch did not turn out the way they expected, so they made a whole new batch. I had passed this bakery and wondered about the quality of their products. It was Thanksgiving so I decided to give it a whirl. Baking pies is not my favorite thing to do. I ordered a sugar free apple pie and a chocolate cream pie, both advertised to be 9". So when I think of a 9" pie that I am being charged over $20 a piece for I'm thinking beautiful presentation, plenty of filling and a flaky delicious crust. Oh my word, was I disappointed. I was too busy to take a picture when I was taking them out of the boxes to serve but here is an 'after it was cut' picture. The apple pie looked like it had glue around the edges. I also included a picture of the pie tin. Barely deep enough to hold a 2 cup batch of pudding! The flavor was ok but that hardly covered my disappointment in the rest of the product. My brother brought a huge pecan pie from Costco that was beautiful, delicious and only cost him $17. I love to support local businesses but next Thanksgiving I'll be going to Costco for my pies. read more
