Santa Barbara Motorsports First of all I would like to say that I WOULD NOT SEND MY WORST ENEMY TO THIS PLACE I called them in regards to a 2020 kawasaki kx 85 which they had listed as a Pro Circuit built bike I spoke with one of there sales people and asked what had been done to the bike as I was looking for a modified bike for my grandson, he told me that it had a 112cc pro circuit modified motor, revalved suspension ,coated cylinder for running race gas and that it had been completely inspected by there in house mechanics . So I went ahead and put a deposit and scheduled an appointment to purchase the bike that saturday. I had a 2019 Husqvarna tc 65 with 60 hours on it which I was going to possibly trade in when I got there I waited about an hour for them to inspect the perfect condition 65 for them to say that they were not interested in taking it in trade not a big deal since they were not wanting to get me squat for anyway so I went to the bank and got the rest of the cash to complete the transaction when I returned not more then 30 minutes later I waited for 4 hours with my grandson and son in law to get in to do a cash sale for the bike . while waiting I asked if we could take the bike out and start it when we started it the bike sounded like it had a piston slap the salesman assured me that they had went thru the bike and that it was it perfect condition ( stupid me should have walked away then but having my grandson there who is 12 years old and was excited about the new bike I went ahead and purchased it) he had races the next weekend and had not been able to ride it till then ( he has been racing MX since he was 2 yrs old so he knows bikes) he raced the Mini Major 2 races a day bfor 3 days thats 6 races of 12 to 15 minutes each running race fuel as the bike was supposed to be built for the next weekend we went to race and the second lap the bike top end went after opening it up it was the wrist pin bearing went out and did catastrophic damage to the head which was supposed to be covered by Santa Barba Motorsports warranty when I called to talk to them did not get a call back so I emailed telling them the exact thing that I explained above the sales/purchaser lady told me that the bike was built for race fuel and that if I was not running race fuel that would cause that to happen Anyone who knows bikes would know that is BS, I called pro circuit that next monday and they looked the bike and told me that that was all untrue that the bike was bought from them but there were no engine mods except the cylinder coating so basically they LIED DIRECTLY TO MYSELF AND MY SON IN LAW the bike has now been down for about a month and a half waiting for the cylinder and everything else that broke costing me around 1000.00 when I first wrote there manager wrote back but after I explained everything to him never heard from them again so bottom line is THINK TWICE ABOUT PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE AND DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE WARRANTYS AT ALL I am in the motorcycle industry and bike 2 to 3 bikes a year and this was by far the worst experience I have every had with a motorcycle dealership in my 50 years of buying motorcycles GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP OR GET BURNED read more

I bought a 2009 CBR600 from this dealership on October 2nd 2012. Today is january 25th 2013 and I still dont have the title (paid cash for this bike). In late november, I felt that it was taking a while to get the plates and title, so I called them and asked them to look into it. They said they would and I got no response. Earlier this month, I found out that the bike is not even registered under my name, which is presenting a myriad of problems. I went to the dmv to try and get some more insight as to what the issue could be. The dmv tells me that the dealership has not finished processing the paperwork. I ping SMBS again, telling them that the paperwork for the bike hasnt been processed per DMV records. The SBMS associate responded in the most helpful way possible by telling me, "we dont just sit around, not processing the paperwork." Is that right? Since SBMS doesnt sit around, not processing the paperwork, I stopped worrying that I still didnt have the title 4 months after buying the bike. If I got pulled over for my expired tags which I could do nothing about, Id tell the cop that a ticket wasnt necessary because SBMS doesnt sit around, not processing the paperwork. The bike not being registered under my name was a concern of the past since I had been informed that SBMS does not sit around, not processing the paperwork... Moving on... I insisted more effort be put into this and the SBMS associate tried blaming the DMV for the delay but said he would look into it. On january 18th, I got a call back from the same associate, telling me that the title had been sent somewhere in L.A and that they have no idea where they got that address from... Do I live in L.A.? NO, I DONT LIVE IN L.A. Some strange person has the title for my bike and on today, january 25th 2013, the bike is STILL not registered under my name. SBMS says they have started the process to rectify this. I await being registered as the owner of the bike I own... I realize mistakes happen, and I would have been annoyed at worst if someone had taken the effort to look into why I had not received title, plates etc the first time I asked, which was 2 months after buying the bike, but here I am 4 months later with this bike that has someone else's name on it and a title that's probably being used as a coaster by a stranger in L.A. Other than the above, I was very happy with the service and price. They're helpful people, at least up until you buy a bike. read more

After a 7mo wait, my bike finally arrived at the dealer today! They'd tendered a written offer and charged a deposit to my credit card upon my agreement. Here's the offer, cut-pasted from their email: "The quote I gave you was $5,193.91 so the remaining balance on the bike is $4,993.91. The expected ship date for this bike is 7/29 and we should have it built out and available for pickup in mid to late August. Covid has affected receiving past shipment dates so I will keep you informed if there are any delays on the bike. Here is a price breakdown. Unit price: $3,899 Freight: $395 Set up: $291 Documentation: $85 Registration: $158 MVSC (Motor Vehicle Sales Charge--this is the what the DMV charges for us to efile through them): $30 CA Tire Recycle Fee: $3.50 Tax: $332.41 Please let me know if you have any questions and I will reach out when we get updates on this bike." So today just before I left to pick up the bike they emailed me a revised quote, and raised the price from $5,200 to $6,000. As follows: Unit Price $3,899 Freight $700 Dealer Prep $450 Sales Tax $397.89 Doc Fees $85 Lic Fees $158 Tire Recycle Fee $3.50 ADM $276.61 MVSC $30.00 Total $6,000 I sent them their own orig written quote. Nowhere on the quote did it infer 'subject to change'. They told me to 'deal with it'. As if $5,200 weren't gouge enough, they felt it worthwhile to whore themselves against their own written, tendered offer for $800. So that's the price of their integrity sellout-- eight hundred dollars. I told Santa Barbara Motorsports to shove it up their @$$. Just what they were hoping for. read more

Horrible service! Stay Away! Stay Away! Be Warned! This place has no integrity or customer service. The company does not render the service you pay for. We took in our jet ski 3 months ago. Never had the opportunity to test run the jet ski until now. We came to find out the jet ski problem was not fixed. The jet ski is still accumulating water inside the tank. We paid $700 for nothing. Then when we returned to the store, the manager and his staff were very rude. After they neglected to listen to my husband and were rude about them not honoring the work they did not complete. My husband stated he would be suing them. I'm also sending my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. They just took our money and on top of it switched out our new battery for a used one. What every you do, stay away from this place. They are a rip off. read more

I went to purchase some muffler packing there were two diffrent options so went to the parts counter to get some help a couple employes were talking to each other ignoring me I waited a couple minutes no help. A tall gentle man came out from behind the counter I asked him for help he looked at me and ignored me . So went to the floor two very young sales men were there and I asked them for help they looked into it and went in the office and came out with advice as to what I needed I thanked them for the exellent service and went back to the parts counter where the two employes were still taling ignoring me . BUYER BEWARE! This shop is more concerned about their bottom line than getting you the right product. They also don't like to refund your money. I ordered a pair of boots. The boots came in and after trying them on at home, I determined there was a flaw in the design(TCX RT-Race). They also didn't fit well even though I own the same brand of boot in the same size but different model. I took them back to the shop and they informed me at this time there would be a 20% restocking fee. I demonstrated to the salesman how the boot has a flaw in the design(the plastic piece that actuates and protects your Achilles, slides out of its pocket every time you crouch, and has to be manually put pack in place). Total design flaw and no fault of Santa Barbara Motorsports. Here's the kicker, not only were they not refunding me for the entire purchase the salesman did some FUZZY MATH. The purchase was for $172.39. I got refunded $107.74. At the time of the return, I was already annoyed I wasn't getting my full refund and didn't have time to argue with this guy. I'm not sure how he arrived at this figure on the return but that's a 38% difference. I called back a couple days later in hopes to get through to the manager in their sales department. I told sales manager Cory my dilemma. Long story long, he said he would contact the TCX rep and get back to me about a full refund. After a couple more calls back, after he said he would call me back, I got tired of this game and called my credit card company to dispute the charge. Here's another kicker for you....My friend bought the same boots and returned them before I did and he got a full refund. I believe they call that DISCRIMINATION! read more

My daughter took my Vespa in for a oil change. I know they do Vespa's but she was in a hurry. She dropped it off. It was over a holiday but six days later, they gave her a estimate of six hundred dollars. Yes, I couldn't believe it. The bike only had 800 miles on it. They told her they would have to clean the the carb and other work. She picked it up, and tool it to ooty's, who did it in a afternoon, and for about $80.00 The guys at sb motorsports really took advantage of my daughter They should of been honest and told her they they don't do Vespa's and suggest another comyany. The service adviser was unable to quote a simple service, and the parts department had me waiting for weeks for a part that should have been in stock. I finally canceled my order and re-ordered from an internet source and inside of 24 hours I had the same parts I was just told were not available...and for less money! Good treatment. I was on a road trip. Chilly weather caused the weak battery on my FJR to die. Called SBM and they offered to drive the 10 miles to my hotel and install the battery for just the cost of the battery plus gas. I ended up getting the bike started and cruised out there. The mechanic, Chris, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and he removed and replaced some fairing panels to get the battery installed. Thanks! read more

I'm not going to say these guys are scammers, but I will say that Cal Coast Motor Sports* in Ventura offered me the same brand new dirt bike for $1,000 less than what Santa Barbara Motor Sports was trying to charge ($4,700 vs. $5,700). I'll also say that it's absurd that these guys have an "out the door" price that is $1,600 above MSRP (and that's on one of the cheaper bikes). I was told that "if I've ever bought a motorcycle before, I should know that there are a lot of hidden fees." Glad to know the hidden fees are unique to the shop! Terrible customer service. My bike has been in the shop here for over a month. Whenever there is a problem (with insurance or parts, etc.) the workers never proactively contact me. I have shown up thinking that my bike was ready, only to find that it had been sitting for over a week and NOTHING had happened and no one had called me. The workers seem to expect the customer to deal with everything and do not offer any help in the process. Out of frustration, I tried calling the insurance company myself, but the insurance person said that the shop needs to call. Even though I directly asked a shop employee to call the insurance company, it never happened. Still nothing has been resolved. The length of repair is ridiculous. I will never come here again once my bike is FINALLY fixed (if that ever happens). Go somewhere else. read more

This place is the best place around. I went to Precision at first and they said a valve adjustment on my Fz-09 would be $700-800. I went to SB motorsports and they did valves, air filter, and spark plugs for $480. This place is the cheapest in the area and the fastest not to mention the guys all ride and will help you out with whatever you need. 100% would recommend taking bikes here for service or buying parts here over anywhere else. read more

The supervisors and owners may need to go to square one and ask "Who are we? What kind of reputation do we want? How can we support the motorcycle community of the Central Coast?" They have a great selection of gear and can order parts for you. Cory, in the parts department, has always been super helpful whenever I've had specific needs or parts questions. He's a cool guy that always hooks it up. He'll look up the parts you need, even if you're not really sure what it is (he'll help you figure it out), order them for you and give you a call when they arrive a couple days later. Then you just go in and pick them up in store! For maintenance or any service, Chris is your guy. He's got tons of knowledge, has a keen sense of what needs to be done, and is amazing at troubleshooting. He's easy to talk to and has given me suggestions for maintenance and likely solutions numerous times. He's been correct nearly 100% of the time. Lastly, purchasing a motorcycle is a big step. They have a huge selection of new and pre-owned motorcycles to choose from. Shawn over in sales is a mellow guy who's always looking to strike a deal. I've owned over dozen motorcycles in my time, and have purchased from many dealers. Having a dealer you can trust for the purchase and for the service is key. I have been taking bikes to SB Motorsports for the past five years and have nothing but excellent experiences. These experiences have built a lasting relationship of trust and confidence. I had a KTM 690 that I purchased privately, but Chris in the service department took care of me as though I bought it there, taking advantage of any possible warranty possible. I purchased my first bike from them this past month, a new KTM 500EXC and it was an awesome experience. The price was fair, competitive, and Lionel was very easy going to deal with. The other reviews where they questioned delivery charges and hidden fees clearly were folks not in tune with purchasing a motor vehicle. The delivery charge is the fee for having the bike delivered to the dealer from the shipping port. The cost depends on where it is shipped from and can vary. DMV / Sales tax fees are not included in MSRP... telephone shopping is really problematic, the best deal is going to be had in person. I cannot believe the amount of indignity with which I was treated by a salesman. I normally don't bother writing reviews with regard to bad service, but the level with which I felt insulted (to the point of feeling unsafe) was more than I've ever experienced at any place of business. The management should seriously consider whom they hire -- sexism has no place in the workplace. I found it very patronizing to be talked to like a child by this male chauvinist salesman. This is not a way to treat any customer regardless of age, gender, or socioeconomic class. On top of this blatant disrespect, the salesman was anything but helpful or knowledgeable. Once he realized I was a serious buyer and that I was leaving he tried to engage me in conversation and even followed me to my car after prior insults. I really want this store to be my go to. It is very convenient and they do have a good selection of the things I am after. The problem is trying to get ANYONE to help you in this store. I have been in there three times since moving here in March. Each time similar experiences occurred. Today was the last attempt. I was ready to drop about a grand on a new helmet and jacket. They had the helmet I looking for after being in the store looking at the helmets trying them on attempting to get some assistance I left. I had two people walk by me make eye contact and turn away as I began to ask for help. The guy at at the door told me to have a nice day as I was walking out. As I was leaving putting my old helmet and jacket on one for the service people rides by, on what I assume is a clients bike. He had zero safety gear on and rode around the parking lot for several minutes I even saw him pull a wheelie. Like I said I WISH I could make this my only store but the customer service here is poor. Love this place! I have worked with Ryan Wong one of the mechanics for years. He is basically the only guy I trust to even touch my bike and im pretty particular. I made an appointment for a Tuesday at 3pm for a new chain and sprocket to be installed. On Saturday before a group ride to Buellton I notice my rear tire pressure was low and took it to sbm first thing Saturday morning. First person I see is Ryan and he discovers I have a nail lodged in my rear tire. Thinking there was no way around making my ride Ryan went above and beyond to fit me in that same busy Saturday. I bought 2 new q3s right then and there and to top it off my chain and sprocket arrived that morning to sbm. Within 2 hours my bike was up and ready to go!
