This place recently opened with a whole lot of hype. I've now tried it three times thinking I was missing something, but I wasn't. The food isn't that great. The drive-thru line is slow as molasses. Employees are consistently unfriendly and not polite. Drink cups have not been filled leaving a 20 oz cup at 16 oz of product. Great way to make profits, but it's not legal. Culver's is a few steps west. When I want a burger in the future I'll be going there. read more

Glenn, you are getting this place 4 stars. It's clean, it's new... but the service we got from Glenn was worthy of 5 stars. His friendliness and his ability to serve the customers and make them a priority... I told him, "I feel like I am getting Chick Fil A service with Whataburger menu... great combination. Well, the last time I waited an hour to get food was when my waiter quit at an upscale restaurant before putting in the order. At least they comped a desert. This establishment's drive through couldn't even service one car every five minutes. The burger was big for sure, greasy, tasteless, and not particularly flavorful. Fries were bland. Going through the drive through is an absolute total waste of time. At one point I was stuck, couldn't get out of the line and it was still 30 minutes till I ordered. There are a lot better places to get a burger in KC that have a better product and can deliver it in a reasonable time frame. I won't be back. Total and unmitigated waste of time for what I'd deem barely average food. I'd give it no stars if possible. read more

Waited in a short drive thru line of 3 cars in front of us and it took 25 minutes to get to the menu/speaker. Once at the speaker the kid on the speaker ask's for my name and I tell him.. Then he proceeded to suggest a different name for me. I think he was just fucking around. Either way every time I go to this location it's always a long wait even when there are few customers and the customer service is extremely poor. read more

First whataburger experience and the food was good but the best part was Barry. He was extremely friendly. The girl working the register was not friendly. I didn't see her smile one time. But Barry was walking around ensuring the food was good and cracked some jokes with us. We will be back hopefully to see Barry! He's a keeper. read more

I had a patty melt at one of their airport locations, YEARS AGO. Loved it, remembered it, craved it. Had one when the OP franchise opened. And was not disappointed. It was great!!! Everything I remembered. (And my wife who generally hates fast food places really liked her regular burger as well.) I went back several weeks later. It was early afternoon and the line wasn't long but only 1 person was working at a register. It took them 15+ minutes to take 3 or 4 orders. I then waited over 40 minutes for my food to be served. The food was good but waiting 55 minutes for it is NOT fast food. But I went back, 3 weeks later, at 1:30 pm, so supposedly after the lunch rush. Two people in line in front of me. Their orders were quickly taken. Cool! I approach the counter and the 1 clerk looks at me, smiles and says I'll be right back. And leaves. There is no other clerk at the register. Four minutes pass. I ask one of the servers for help and am told they can't do the register and moves away to deliver a meal. A couple of minute pass without any further acknowledgement, and I ask one of the servers for a manager. (There are now 12 people in line behind me!) The young manager, says, "Oh, let me find someone!" And disappears. Next thing I know, I see him in the kitchen with the cashier and the cashier is yelling that they are on their break! But then that is also the person that angrily comes and takes my order. Great. I smile and order. I'm sorry, it should have been obvious to the manager that the front line was shut down! And he might have come back and apologized. Or found someone to open the other register to speed up the process for the now 14 people behind me! But noooooooo. Fortunately, the food comes pretty quick. But the paddy melt was almost inedible it was so salty. (This coming from a guy who tends to over salt his food.) I went again yesterday. Lunch time. The line went quick. And the food was served quickly. (Honestly, I was running my stop watch.) But dang, my patty melt was pretty bland, very little in the way of onion sauce. And the fries, which had been good on previous visits were overly salty and less than warm. This location has some serious problems. (A friends teen worked there briefly. Good kid. Told me that over half of their employees quit in the first week. Blaming management and poor organizational planning.) Duh. read more

It's a burger. If I closed my eyes it tasted just like Sonic, or 10 other places you can get a burger. Fries are fine, nothing special. If there's a line, go elsewhere. I'm not even sure I'd stop back in if there wasn't a line. It's one of many burger joints available, and if there's a wait there's no reason to do so. My first visit to a Whataburger - very clean and friendly staff but 20 minutes after ordering- not a busy time - went to ask about our food and was told it was waiting on fries. Ten minutes later our food arrived - hot fries but barely warm burger with unmelted cheese. Might try a different location but after everything I had heard I was greatly disappointed. Went in the drive through and the guy taking our order had the nastiest attitude for no reason. We had to say our order over and over again until he could get it right. He quite literally laughed and asked "are you serious?" When my dad was trying to order. We talked to the manager but she was no help at all and tried to make excuses for him by saying he is being trained. Terrible experience. read more

Location at 95th & Metcalf has disappointing food and service. Have given them 3 tries now. Last one the burgers were overly salty. Went back through the drive thru on the outside lane to get replacement. Person taking the order couldn't get down "no pickles no mustard" until the 4th try - was not a non English speaker so that was not the issue. Waited 20 minutes in the outside lane with the window staff just glancing at us. Finally called the store and no one knew what we were taking about. Gave my order again. Finally got food. Got home. Spicy chicken sandwich was decent, tasty. Chicken salad was fair at best. Why one star? The place was filthy beyond belief. Every table dirty. Seats sticky. Bathrooms not fit for my dog. Good thing guy took my order cause the flat screen self order was designed by a psychotic platypus. The overall ambiance is cold and utilitarian to begin with but trash everywhere. No way going back. Please figure out the drive through. You have two places for people to order but are only taking one order at a time, on top of them taking orders from people who just pulled up and ignoring the line that's been waiting hella long, what's the point? Not to mention if your in the drive through no matter if it's 5pm or 5am you'll be waiting 30 plus minutes maybe even an hour at times. The drive-through wait was over an hour on a Tuesday early evening for what was to be single-handedly the worst bag of over-salted cold limp fries, and a flat and dry flavorless two patties of institution grade D but barely edible ground beef meat on a dry crumbly generic burger bun... don't waste your time or money on this sham. Our experience at this new location was actually really great, yes there was a line, yes there was a wait for our food but let's all keep in mind how long this place has been open and the hype surrounding it. We got exactly what we ordered and it was fresh, pretty decent for a fast burger joint! The kids and adults who were working did their absolute best at trying to hold down the fort, it was hectic and people were being rude to the workers. Cut these people some slack yall, it's a brand new establishment and don't expect the lines to be short because if you have Facebook this all anyone has been talking about. Staff was very unorganized. A young man- Cristian may be his name; walked around the dining room saying "wow it sure is busy" while 5 of us waited 20+ min for our food.. helping his coworkers might've been a better idea. An older gentleman we could see was working hard & we appreciated him. He cleaned up spills, restocked, and answered guest needs while the three young staff we saw were on their phones. My husband and I went last week. We ordered $26 worth and ordered through the drive through. We got there at 6:02 and didn't drive away with our food until after 6:40. They kept skipping us and said "we're so sorry the kitchen forgot your order". The manager came out and apologized and offered a full refund and said he would handle it inside. Another manager came out and said here's your food, hang tight, we are getting your refund. After ten minutes, I got out of the car and went in and said can we please leave now that we have our food. They said oh yeah sorry we forgot to tell you it's all handled. Days later I checked the bank account and we were never refunded. I called and they said "sorry unless you have a receipt we can't refund you". UNBELIEVABLE. read more

Today I was able to finally try this place. The line wasn't that long when I got here and I understand now why the line so long the food I had was very tasty the hamburgers the right amount of grease the fries properly with a small amount of salt packets of ketchup I have just enough tang to make it enjoyable. Worst Whataburger on the planet! I've been to many Whataburgers during my travels and honestly couldn't wait for our KC locations to open. Like many of the reviews we waited forever (40 minutes and 30 minutes) to get our food. I waited so long with my family I was able to fill out 3 complaints on the corporate website. To be clear....I was at this location recently after the initial rush had warn off. Super slow and food was cold. Never had Whataburger this bad. I'm so disappointed and expecting this store to close. I won't be back and am telling everyone that will listen what a disappointment this store is. read more
