I was greeted quickly (9:26) and ordered the sausage biscuit with hash browns. . Stuff I could eat in the car on the road. Took care of business and wash out my travel beverage yeti. One of the best overall Whataburger experiences I've ever had! We came through Friday morning, 4/25/20 on our way to deal with a family matter. Prior to this visit, we've never even stopped in Kilgore, only passed through. This Whataburger is attached to a Shell through a hallway with restrooms in it. Due to COVID19, the inside was blocked off. There were several spots out front with signs for online orders and a drive thru with two lanes. We went through the drive thru, were instructed to pull into the second lane and realized there were three cars already there and three more followed us within a minute or so. My typical Whataburger locations are pretty slow but we were only in line for maybe 6 or 7 minutes. I only saw one employee coming outside to service the second lane but she was fast enough and multitasking, bringing one car their food and us our drink when she took our change, bringing our change while she brought someone else their food. She had a great attitude and responded to regulars who called out to her from their vehicles in such a jovial manner. We pulled into a nearby parking spot to eat our food before continuing on and it was excellent. All customizations were followed, the food was hot and fresh and tasted better than usual. You got to love Whataburger for making eating in the car easier with flat bottom fry and ketchup containers and plenty of napkins. I also love that I can get a burger and fries at 8am too, when you're on a 5+ hour trip, you're not in the mood to conform to what's being served at that time. It really hit the spot and we were able to continue on our trip, totally satisfied! My husband's burger was a little greasier, being a double meat with all the veggies. I had a junior burger nixing some of the veggies for easier handling and it was perfect. The fries were perfectly salted, hot and crispy and our dogs completely approved of the couple they cajoled out of us. I love when I can depend on a location and it's worth a return visit the next time we are passing through. The only thing that could have possibly docked a star was that the wonderful employee helping us wasn't wearing gloves and her mask was below her chin. I cannot comment on the other employees as they were inside and I didn't have a good view of the drive thru window. The reason I say possibly, and didn't actually dock a star, is because I don't know what the orders were in this particular county. For example, our destination only had 1 case in the entire county and it was from out of state, so that county had significantly less restrictions than back home. That could have been the situation here and though I'll mention it in case it's important to someone, I won't dock for it when I'm not educated on the details. Our governor left it up to counties to decide and fast food has it's own set of challenges with social distancing, so I'm keeping that in mind. Also, I believe it is up to me to protect myself and be vigilant of those around me, and then take the necessary precautions, not to put my safety completely in their hands. I know that opinion is not popular with everyone and I don't state it so we can have a discussion about it, only to explain my rating while providing you the facts necessary to make your own decision about coming to this location. Sorry no photo because I ate that bacon whataburger with cheese down in 3 minutes flat. This girl was hungry for their awesome food and even though I can't eat onions anymore I did enjoy smelling my sisters onion rings. The staff in Liberty City, Texas is always on point. This place was actually pretty sweet. I'm not usually a fan of anything in East Texas, least of all a gas station/fast food joint combo, but the decor of this Whataburger alone is enough to make me wish I lived close enough to frequent it. The place is set up like the Hard Rock Cafe of fast food. It's got cool music posters and legit guitars hanging all over the place, with 50's style diner tables and stools. I walked in and was greeted instantly by a huge Beatles poster, which truthfully made my day (and made me instantly jealous - I want that poster). The service was quick and the cashier was very forgiving of the loud, crazy friends I had with me at the time. Plus seventy cool points for that, cashier. I know those kids were hard to deal with. The food was served up hot and fresh, exactly what I needed after six hours in the car with six more to go. Sure, it's still fast food; but it was a perfect stop on a long road trip. If ever I'm road tripping it in that direction again, I'll be sure to stop by for some good food and a trip down rock and roll memory lane. I recommend the same for you, fellow Yelpers. This location is connected to a gas station and makes it easy to kill two birds with one stone. Every time I go to a whataburger I have high expectations, but it never lives up to the hype. A lot of my KC friends think this place is the best ever, but maybe that's cause they can't eat them regularly. Great quality of meat, but everything else falls short. Whataburger is my guilty pleasure when it comes to fast food. I've stopped here a couple times while traveling and this Whataburger (with a Shell Station attached) has become a trusted place to gas up, use the restroom, grab some grub and head on my way. The food is classic Whataburger. Never had a problem with my order. Food comes out in a quick, timely fashion. Service is extremely friendly and I'm always greeted with a cheery attitude and left with a good ole "Come back and see us, now!" Restrooms are clean and better than most stops on my journey. I'm relieved, in more ways than one, when I reach this location. Lastly, this Whataburger is actually pretty cool. It's loaded with 50's memorabilia creating a classic diner ambiance. I highly recommend this place if you need to make a stop in the area or you just want a burger and fries. read more

Pretty good Whataburger. I'm under the impression that they actually serve breakfast at the times they are supposed to now (the used to have paper taped over the corporate menu saying that they wouldn't serve breakfast until some crazy time, when all of the other late-night Whataburgers start serving breakfast at 11:00 PM). The rock-n-roll decor is always fun to check out while you eat, and the service is pretty helpful. This location is great because it is open inside late night, unlike many who close the inside and only offer drive-thru at night. Even late at night there is an on-duty police officer here, so you can feel safe even when all the drunk highschoolers are eating late night! read more

Perhaps it was the "weekend crew" but my first experience with the long-anticipated new Whataburger in Kilgore was a disappointment. First of all, I'm not sure how a "toasted" bun (which was burnt, actually) could still be cold. Then, I had mayo dripping and running all over the table before I could finish my cheeseburger. I will say that the fries were hot and tasty but the $7.50 paid for this "combo" was certainly not worth it. The decor was interesting but, for a person who grew up on Whataburgers, my burger was messy and tasteless... except for the burnt bun which overpowered everything else. read more

With the old Whataburger the service was horrible, the costs were too high, but the food was pretty good. Now that they have torn down the old Whataburger and have built the new one, the prices are still too high, the service is still not that great, and the food has gone downhill........at least I can definitely say that for their grilled chicken sandwich. The chicken patty, that I paid $8 dollars for, would absolutely be rivaled in size and thickness by the patty on the McDonalds dollar menu chicken sandwich. It was 1/3 the size that they use to serve, and was over cooked on the outside. The patty had about an inch of bread on all sides, and I had to dig through the mound of, what looked like the bottom of the bag remnants, of lettuce to actually find the chicken patty. I thought at first that they had literally forgotten to put the patty on the bread. I asked the female manager that was working that night if the size of the patty was correct, and she said that it was. She could tell that I was unhappy with the order, but it showed on her face that she could care less. My 5yr olds children's meal had more chicken in it than my over-priced sandwich! Really?!! This was literally the smallest piece of chicken I have ever received on any grilled chicken sandwich, ever!! ( and I say this without exaggeration). Due to poor customer service, high prices, and poor food......I AND MY FAMILY WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THIS WHATABURGER. read more
