I ended up ordering a second burger because the first one disappeared way too fast... it was that good. I've been a fan since their pop-up days, so seeing them in their own space now is so exciting and well deserved. And the quality hasn't skipped a beat, if anything, it's even better. Easily some of the best burgers in Dallas. No question.

I got their re-known schmurger burger without grilled onions with their seasoned fries. All in all, I definitely recommend this place! The burger was fantastic and reminded me of those old fashioned cheeseburgers you only find in small-town burger restaurants in the Texas country. Also, the fries were equally as good as their schmurger in my opinion. They couldn't have seasoned the fries better too. Honestly, reminded me of those fries you only find at wing restaurants like Wingstop!

Server was even great enough to check why the burger I wanted wasn't available. Found out they were out of onion buns, I opted to try on a regular bun. So, I got the Inspector Closeau, and although it said there was french pan gravy as part of the dish, I didn't realize the burger would be sitting in it. Overall the burger was good, but although I tried picking it up, was way too messy. May e first burger O ate with a fork and knife. I think that prevented me from getting all the flavors on it in each bite. Otherwise, lots of parking (free), it was super busy, but lots of seating. You can just pick a table, but order and pay with the server. I would recommend, but next time I will try a less messy burger

Burger House is a burger joint in Dallas that is more than a restaurant, it's a Dallas landmark…read morethat is part nostalgic, part historic, and 100% delicious. Come here if you want to enjoy a classic burger made the same way it has been for over 70 years. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Burger House has a window you walk up to and order from, just like from an old school burger stand. Because that's how it began. If you look up, you can see the original roof from the stand, except now a new ceiling and climate-controlled AC has been added to keep you from melting in the Dallas heat. 1 Star. Service - The staff is friendly and old school. Your order is handwritten on a paper pad, and you can see the staff in the kitchen work on a well-seasoned (more on this later) flattop. Once you order, you grab a bench and wait for them to call your name. Fast, efficient, friendly. 1 Star. Food - What makes Burger House stand out is the seasoned salt they use on the burger and fries. While you can order cheese fries, I urge you to order the seasoned fries so you can really taste the seasoning. It's more than salt, it has a light, smoky and mildly spicy flavor to it. I'm not sure what it's made of, but you can buy a bottle to take home. The same seasoning is used on the burger to give it a nice flavor, and my cheeseburger had a juicy patty with a perfectly melted slice of American cheese on it on a nice bed of shredded lettuce, grilled onions, and mustard. For some reason I have a feeling it takes the same as it did back in the fifties. Add a root beer float to you order and complete your travel back in time. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. The Burger House near SMU is the OG and a Dallas institution. There are other restaurants that make better burgers, but none of them are both classic and historic. Burger House is and I will be back. 1 Star.

The burgers are consistently delicious. The fries are hand cut. My favorite burgers are the classic and the chili cheeseburger, which is not a big gooy burger you have to eat with a fork but has just the right amount of chili and chili sauce on it and just a delicious flavor. You can pick it up and eat it with your hands. You can either get a seeded bun or a plain one. Everything always tastes fresh and hot.

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

We ordered the fried mushrooms to start, and they were so hot that one of us severely burned her lower gums on them. Seriously! A prescription from the dentist was sought; mea culpa but damn. Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt. We wish them well, but we won't be returning. There are better burgers in DFW.

Then the food comes out and it somehow gets even better. We tried the OG Smash, Chopped Cheese, and the Special Cowboy Burger and every single one was so freaking good. Seriously, Herby's has to be in the conversation for a Top 5 burger in Dallas. If you're anywhere in the Metroplex, this place is absolutely worth the drive down to Oak Cliff. They've also got a solid selection of beers, so come hungry and thirsty. Old-school burger joint, great food, great atmosphere, and just an all-around awesome spot. Highly recommend Herby's.

I ordered their OG smash with jalapeños. Loved the seasoning on the meat, and it was decently sized. I was craving a burger, and Herby's hit the spot. Condiments are sold separately, and they do offer a table for you to dress up your order as you like. The beverages are cold, so I sipped on my red wine and just enjoyed the chillness.
