I was excited to get an email with a coupon for a free 3-piece chicken strips with the purchase of a medium fry and medium drink. I used the Whataburger app to place the order and it was easy to redeem the coupon. However, I had several issues with my order. The bag did not have ketchup so I had to go back into the store to get it. My order was not ready when promised when I arrived 6 minutes after the pick up time. My French fries container was not even half way full. Also the gravy container was not full. The chicken strips were overcooked and very hard to chew. There were no napkins in my bag. The quality of the food was very low and the portions were not normal size. This location is closest to my place of employment so I am disappointed in the lack of quality for this visit. read more

I was so excited to try Whataburger after seeing so many travel vlogs with people trying their burgers and patty melts and loving them. We ordered the double burger combo with fries and a sweet tea and the patty melt. The sweet tea was good and not too sugary, the fries were similar to McDonalds in my opinion, so no complaints there. The patty melt and burger were just okay. The burger itself didn't seem to be anything special. It had McDonalds vibes with the burger flavor and I think I was looking for something closer to In and Out or Shake Shack style. I definitely won't be returning. We tried out P Terry's burgers in Austin and I honestly liked their food better and it was much cheaper. read more

I am very happy to report my first visit to Whataburger was a big success. I was so excited to finally be able to try their burgers, so I got a little carried away and ordered a triple. The burger was huge! I am a hearty eater but even I had trouble finishing the entire triple burger. I had no regrets even though I had to rest after finishing it. The burger was full of beefy, good flavor. I had Whataburger twice on my vacation. The second time, I had a double which was a perfect, large meal for me with the fries. The fries were crispy and tasty. I love dipping sauces as well as ketchup. It was neat to see all the various sauces you could order with your meal. My favorites were the jalapeno ranch and spicy ketchup. I had never seen a Dr. Pepper milkshake on a menu before so I treated myself to a small one. It was like having a Dr. Pepper float. I'd order it again. This is the location we went to for our first Whataburger meal. The staff was clearly working hard that day. The place was busy and there were a lot of cars in the drive through window. But the crew was friendly and nice. The location had a lot of parking and lots of seating. Ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was so old I mistaked it for a burger. It had old lettuce and tomato aswell. The lettuce was old and turning brown and the tomatoes disintegrated into the chicken patty with just the skin of the tomato being left. My burger aswell must've been old because my boyfriend woke up with food poisoning and my dog got sick from the bite he had of the burger. Tried to call the store but no one answered. I used the Whataburger app for the 1st time. Super easy! I love that I can detail my order as much as possible and take my time doing so. I got a #7 with cheese and large fry. Trying out the brioche bun toasted on both sides and grilled onions. Curbside was super easy and quick once I arrived. I hate writing bad reviews for businesses, but seeing how this location has went out of their way not once, but twice, to disappoint me, I feel it is my duty to warn you how terrible this place is. If you do not believe me, read the other bad reviews, and then make your decision. In the area for work yesterday morning, I decided to hit the drive through and get breakfast. The layout and curb appeal of this Whataburger was intriguing, as it looked very modern, and not your typical boring Whataburger building. I had such high hopes right off the bat. I went through the drive through and placed my order. The wait was a bit longer than usual for a Whataburger, but I did not think anything of it. I paid for my order, got my food, and drove off. Lunch time came around, and in the mood for a snack, I decided to give them another shot. Places to eat in this area are not readily available. So, I walked in, the the line was to the door. Behind the register there was one person taking orders, and one other employee off to the side doing nothing. The cashier was in no particular hurry to move the line, and said employee with nothing to do, kept interrupting the cashier, slowing her down even more. Finally, my turn. Looking at my watch, I had been standing in line 10 minutes. Said employee with nothing to do, still felt the need to disrupt the line and cut up with the cashier. I proceeded to get my drink and wait. All I had ordered was onion rings, so surely the wait will not be bad. Wrong. Twenty minutes goes by. Employees who were off - not in Whataburger attire - now arrived, and distracted the cashier, as well as other employees who were working. The order prior to mine was going out to the person in front of me, to which was wrong. The cashier, whom was distracted by the initial fella not working, messed their order up since she was not paying attention. Enough is enough. I see what appears to be a manager, grabbed him, and asked him politely to check on my simple order. I informed him that it had been longer than usual, with me needing to get back to work. So, the manager walked back to the back, appeared to check on my order, then walked back to me and said "it will be just another minute, boss," and blew me off. So, I walked out without my food, as I'm into this visit for 30 minutes. So much for "fast food." Fast forward to today. Like an idiot, I chose to come here for breakfast. I hit the drive through, placed my order, then looked ahead and there are three cars in front of me. The car in front is having a long animated conversation, and their order was messed up. Their order had to be remade, making the wait even longer. After a longer than usual wait, I make it up to the window. The young man behind the doors asks me for my order again, then proceeds to tell me they made it wrong, so they had to make it again. After yet another long wait, the young man hands me my order, and tells me I'm good to go, and I ask him if he is sure, as I have not paid, and he told me I was. Thinking justice is served for not receiving a meal I paid for yesterday, I drove off. Well, karma got me when I got to my destination, checked my order, and realized it was wrong. Oh, and when I was leaving, I noticed two bums at the bus stop having a physical altercation, with one swinging a pole at the other. I feel bad giving this review but it has to be said. This burger is not great. Which burger you ask? The whataburger of course. I've given this place three chances to wow me and three times I've been let down. I also tried the honey bbq chicken that everyone was raving about (better than the whataburger but still not great). There is the "of course it's not great, it's fast food" argument but there is plenty of fast food out there that taste amazing and here in Austin the competition is even steeper. Then all the staff runs to the women's bathroom consuming both stalls for considerable for another 10 min. They were chattin up a storm and not interested in going back to work. So it appeared anyways. It doesn't stop there. I get done using the bathroom and I literally wait 30 minutes and I haven't received my food. Finally I asked about it and it was given to the wrong person. And it gets worse. The manager on duty instructed the staff to go fetch it from the other people whom had actually already left. The service was terrible.. They forgot one of our burgers, took about 30 extra minutes to make it.. They left us sitting in the drive thru the entire time.. The food at this new (or at least renovated) location is pretty on point. And when they're on point, Whataburger is hard to beat. But we also know that consistency is the bugaboo for Whataburger. Here's what keeps them at an "OK" at best -- and that's charitable. This location can't handle a crowd at all. I stopped in earlier this week and came away frustrated. I did my usual online order before I went in. Big problem. No one was at the counter. There were several management types walking around doing everything but taking care of customers. Eventually, someone came to the counter and gave me a drink cup. I then had to check with someone to find out the status of my online order for dine-in. He returned fairly quickly with a to go bag with my order. To my surprise, it was prepared correctly. I'm pretty sure it had been sitting there for a bit as it wasn't warm at all. After a long night out you can never go wrong with the classic Whataburger certainly if you're from Texas. This is a pretty good location compared to the other location that was previously on Oltorf. The line is always extremely which is expected but tonight the line moved pretty quickly and my food was cooked very good especially the fries. read more

With power shut off on the east side due to a major weather event, this is one of the few local food service options that took steps to be open and feed the increasingly desperate members of the local community. Huge thank you to this amazing team and their incredible staff who braved hazardous roads and challenging weather conditions to make sure east side had a warm meal to eat. Y'all are heroes.
