Walked over here today to try to get a burger. From the service road, couldn't tell it was drive thru only. So I stood on the grass, looked it up, and left. Since the location is so close to st Edward's and the soco transit center, seems strange it didn't have a walk up window. It didn't look safe to try with 2 active car lanes. I recently went to the P. Terry's located on William Cannon just west of MoPac. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries combo as usual and it was amazing as usual. While I can never pinpoint what makes a P. Terry's burger so good, it is always the perfect combination of burger, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on a fresh bun. I absolutely love their thin cut fries with the skin on. Fresh and crisp, never greasy. And you can't beat the price. P. Terry's is one of the few places these days that my husband and I can each get a full meal with drinks for under $20 for the both of us. If you want a great burger and fries at an amazing price, P. Terry's is your place. And this William Cannon location is one of the few that have seating inside. I highly recommend!! read more

Food was good. Had my veggies and sauce put on the bottom bun instead of on top but no big deal. What i didnt like is that when my mom pull up to the window she was a little far and wasnt able to reach to give the money to the girl at the window but the old white guy with glasses handling the orders outside was making faces and didnt want to grab the money to give it to her which to me was super rude. My mom had to open the door and give the girl the money herself while the white guy was just ignorning the whole situation. Also the hispanic girl at the window was just making an ugly face at my mom as if she had did something so wrong. They couldve helped out but instead they were super rude the whole time. Wow this was really good. I love the build out of the location. They do have two drive thru lines here. They make the food as it's ordered. Service moves quick. I got the cheeseburger combo. I should've got the cookie too but i'll try that next time. The fries were nice and crispy here. They use house made ketchup here. The burgers are delicious. Very good and easy to eat. I'll add onions in next time as I didn't know until after I ordered. They've got location all over Austin, TX. And this is a must try while in town. read more

Came here more when I lived close by and it was consistently 4-5 star experience. Went here for the first time in a few months and they have gone a bit down hill. The staff is overwhelmed and it comes out in snarky responses or having to repeat your order multiple times. They forget sauces as well which sucks when you get home or have to wait in the Texas heat for them to run back. Will get my post drinking snack somewhere else. read more

Of all the P Terry's I've been to this place has the tightest drive through and parking lot. It's easy to bend a fender in this tight loop. Nonetheless, for six dollars the double cheeseburger was well worth the wait. I just wish they had onion rings. read more

Oh the long term joy that P. Terry's has provided me with. I recall my first chicken burger from their S. Lamar location that became my obsession. Many years have passed since I called Austin home but one thing that stays with me is my love of P. Terry's and on several recent business trips to ATX I've been able to grab lunch from the Ben White/S. Congress location and it is just as good as I remember it having always been. This location is a drive-thru only set-up that offers double ordering lanes. Easily accessible from the Ben White service road, P. Terry's offers quick and easy in-and-out for your lunch rush allowing for access back onto S. Congress by cutting through the neighboring gas station. Then menu is pretty straight forward: burgers, chicken sandwiches, and veggie burgers but what I really dig are the customization options, again few but mighty. My go to: A #5 on a wheat bun, add pickles, grilled onions, and jalapenos. Service has always been fast and friendly at this location, even when there's a bit of a line the team here keeps it moving and they are always more than accommodating (and accurate) when it comes to customized orders. Short and sweet, this P. Terry's location has become a go-to spot for a grab n' go lunch when work has me back in Austin and I look forward to many a return visit to get a #5 while in town. read more

I've heard a lot about P. Terry's and was always told to try it when in Austin because it's usually the late night spot to go... but I was disappointed :( I did really enjoy how it was open late but the inside was closed so we had to eat our food in the car and on the benches outside. The Cheeseburger was nothing special and very mediocre - would much rather have an In N Out burger for a cheaper price or any other fast food joint. They are very generous with fries though and they were pretty good! The Lemonade was also not bad. Overall, very average fast food & a little disappointed because the expectation was so high. Probably won't come back unless nothing else is open late at night. read more

Awkward awkward awkward... Went Saturday night everything seemed well ordered 4 items payed 13 bucks. We noticed at the line there was this gentle men taking payments from the car but he didn't take ours. We found it strange but I guess since we were about to pull up right next to the window it was logical we would have to pay at the window. As we were approaching the window, the gentleman (who was taking the payments) was just standing in between the car and the window so out of caution we didn't get too close for his safety noting the work was on the bigger side. Well since we weren't close to the window I had to hop out the car and pay when the worker was just there standing and doing nothing. Seeing someone struggle to reach to pay and grab their items all because he was in between the car and the window you would expect them to have the courtesy to help out and get our payment and items. Instead we were just being stared at awkwardly. While I was paying my 13 bucks the worker at the window just handed me a measly vanilla shake looked at me all confused and expected me to go on about my day and I told him im missing 3 other items again he looked all confused and annoyed and ordered to give back the vanilla shake. Again if I payed $13 it's logical I didn't just order a vanilla shake like cmon. read more

We love P. Terry's. The burgers are simple and classic. The ingredients are fresh and local. This means we can eat a burger and not feel like crap afterwards. The French fries are always hit or miss based on the cook, time of day, etc. they can be a bit softer, or rock hard, or anywhere in between. It's definitely their most inconsistent cook experience. The milkshakes are a treat every now and again and they're always perfect and classically simple. All in all, there's really nothing bad to say. If you want a burger and fries and you've been going to in-n-out or whattaburger then you're going to LOVE p. Terry's. This location is my very first p Terry's. We have fond memories of trying to walk up to the drive through and being turned away to then promptly run across the street home and drive back only to park and get out and eat on the back of the car. Drive thru heaven here at P. Terry's especially when other burger spots (or chicken burger spots) down the highway are super busy and lacking in local flavor. With 2 drive thru lanes that are (seemingly) always open when I come is pretty sweet too and cuts down on wait time. Orders are made-to-order so if you have a little wait time that is okay! Your food will come out piping hot and delicious - trust me. My order is always accurate and the nice teenagers who come out and greet me after taking my order are always nice & fast. Be ready with your card or cash after you order as they are going to be right there at your window ready for payment. Cookies are delicious and always $1 and pair very very nicely with a shake. Check out their Shake of the Month (small sign under the drive thru speaker) as they always have great and unique seasonal flavors. read more

The standout here is the service - whether high schoolers or veteran P.T. workers, they've always been upbeat, smiling, and great about getting your made-to-order food to you promptly. As for the food, here's the best way to describe it: I invited a friend from California to try a bite of the double-meat hamburger and he immediately said, "That's just like In-N-Out!" So, if you've tried INO and like it, you'll like P. Terry's. If you prefer a thicker burger or one with a brioche bun, then there are other spots in town. Make mine a double cheeseburger from PT! Sorry, there's my bag. That's all I took a photo of. Why? Because I 1. Always get my burgers here lettuce-wrapped (because why NOT skip the extra calories on the buns here- I tried them bunned initially but was underwhelmed & probably never would have come back here, and the lettuce wrap also makes it hard to operate a camera since I need both hands to hold the burger together), and 2. I went paleo & this local spot was on some paleo blogger food-maps for Austin due to the grass fed meat & lettuce-wrap options. Thankfully I came back & tried the double, lettuce wrapped with no cheese, all the veggies (don't forget to add onion, picke & jalapeños if you want to kick it up a notch)... and I fell in love! The veggies are all fresh af & the fries are fresh cut & excellent too. Food is always fast & generally as-ordered, and I always get some extra "special sauce" (aka ketchup, mayo & relish) on the side- makes a great fry dip too. Their milkshakes & OJ are also very yummy, my mom (picky strawberry milkshake fanatic) approves! Stopped by to pick up lunch to go, 2 burgers, fries, drinks, strawberry milkshake and a cookie. Service was quick and accommodated our last minute requests for the milkshake and cookie at the window. The burgers were really good, taste like one you'd grill up at home. The fries were...different...still can't make up my mind if I liked them the way they were cut and cooked. But obviously didn't hate them since I finished them off. They were cut thin but weren't overly crispy. The lemonade was delicious. I was hoping for fresh strawberries in the milkshake but I think it was a syrup (not 100%) but it was really good still. I have now been living in Austin for 18 months now and have been seeing these P. Terry's Burger Stand all over. Never been in one until I won a $25 gift card. Finally, I went. Glad I did. Delicious. Double burger with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes. I always ask for onions to be added. Fries and coke. Solid meal. The burger is very tasty. Melted cheese; yummy. A very balanced level of ingredients. Bread to meat to cheese to veggies. Damn good. Fries are really good. Thin julienne cut. Cooked crispy to perfect. What impresses me about P. Terry's Burger Stand is service. I picked up a double cheeseburger combo meal. When I bit into the burger after I got home, my mouth was immediately on fire! Jalapenos!!! I do not like hot or spicy food; my body cannot tolerate hot or spicy food. Yet, here is this burger - hot and m'f-N spicy! This has happened to me (and my daughter (and my daughter) before resulting in wasted food thrown in the trash. Listen folks...you P Terry workers: whether you wear gloves or not, if you handle jalapenos and don't change your gloves or wash your hands, you are going to transfer that hot & spicyness to whatever you touch whether you put jalapenos on it or not! You can't even touch your face or eyes after handling jalapenos without it burning so what makes you think you can prepare food with an assembly line of people cross-contaminating and mixing foods that people have not requested OR WORSE may be allergic to???!!! The upside is I called them as soon as I got home and they offered a refund and the gentleman was very polite on the phone. I was happy and somewhat shocked that they even answered the phone, especially so close to closing. I've yet to collect my refund but I appreciate how they handled my complaint. read more
