Loads of cool & kitschy tourist souvenirs.
    Louisa M.

It's nothing more than a tourist trap shop but it is truly a one-stop tourist trap shop! Wharf Central has just about everything you could ever want with San Francisco emblazoned on it. Shot glasses, magnets, t-shirts, bottle openers, keychains, stuffed toys and more. Most items feature images of classic San Francisco landmarks like the Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz, crabs, Fisherman's Wharf, the SF Giants, cable cars, Ghirardelli square, and sourdough bread. Looking for an Alcatraz t-shirt? Check. Ghirardelli sign postcard? Check. Magnet of the Fisherman's Wharf famous wheel and crab sign? Check. Shot glass in the shape of Giants helmet? Check. Stuffed crab toy? Check. Scarf with the Boudin bread logo? Check. Keychain shaped like the Golden Gate? Check. You get the idea. Great location right on the corner by the crab stands. I have a friend who collects magnets so I popped in to grab her one and this store had one of the largest selection of magnets that I've ever seen outside of an actual magnets store. It took me forever to decide on one for her, but I went with this cute mini cable car one. It cost me $5 but was worth it (it looked way more expensive). Not to say that this is super high quality merch, most of it is cheap junk made in China but the prices aren't too bad. Note that the more you buy, the more you save. Prices are highest if you buy one of an item but add in multiples (they don't all have to be the same style), you can shave several dollars off your purchase price. Think 3 for $10 or one for $5 type pricing. This is a great deal if you need to take home small trinkets and gifts to friends and family.

Awesome souvenirs here. Tons to choose from too. Look for deals on shirts. Store is clean and staff is friendly.

The standard tourist shop, but they have a great selection of t-shirts and sweatshirts. It's pretty big.

The kicker for me is that they ALSO have a section for the surfer brands (Roxy, Volcom, etc.) AND they have an entire section dedicated to Levis.

The stores are super cute, there are things to do, there are restaurants as well as good quick eats (like the mini donut shop - oh my gosh that's so good - and a cute retro candy shop at the end of the pier. Additionally, the views at the end of the pier are magical, and you get to view it with songs from the sealions! There are also magic shows at the pier you can watch for free and a large carousel! Pier 39 is 100%, touristy, but it is still festive and fun, whether you're an out-of-towner or a local resident. The only downsides are the prices (because this area is a tourist trap) and the parking. Here are some tricks and tips: Look for coupons for some of the pier activities (ie, coupon books, Groupon, and even on the ads in the local map they give you for free). I've found coupons for the Aquarium By the Bay, restaurants, the mirror maze thingy, and The Flyer. You can also go to the Visitor Center office on the 2nd floor of the pier! Just ask politely for coupons, and they'll usually have something. (They gave me 20% off some nice restaurants last time.) As for parking, be careful with street parking because if you are even a minute late, I swear, you'll find a ticket on your windshield! The city ticket workers are like hawks. There is a Pier 39 parking garage that is the closest but costs a lot. You can look for open parking lots further away, like at hotels, which can be cheaper. If you are able to walk, that may be a good option -- or better yet, take public transportation when you can. That is part of the San Francisco experience! One more tip: if it's your first time there, bring a lock to put at the end of the pier! (See photo) There are definitely a multitude of photo opps here!

We came at night time so the first thing we did was eat at Wipeout. We had a great experience dining there. There also small vendors on the Pier selling hot dogs and other small food as well. After we finish eating, my wife wanted to shop at some of the stores here. It's a nice walk to do at the Pier, especially if the weather is nice. My wife wanted to try some gelato ice cream but they already closed. She got some gifts at the small shops here and so did her mom. I used the public restroom here and it wasn't too bad.

I walked in five minutes before closing to find a jacket and while walking in the store a man walks by and without making eye contacts tells me in a rude tone, we are closed! I then tried to get his attention to ask where I could find jackets; he tried to ignore me and I insisted and said "excuse me, I have a question"; I was trying to get his attention so I could catch his name. His name was Fernando. He quickly said where to find jackets in (of course) a rude tone. I ended up not buying anything because I didn't want to shop at an establishment that was so awful. I left the store with three minutes left until closing. The fact that this man was so rude and even dared tell me they were closed as I was just walking quickly to grab a jacket was unwelcoming and just rude. I was taking my time; I was walking fast because I was mindful of the workers there and the amount of customers still in the store. I was on a two day work trip and didn't bring a thick jacket and San Francisco had a very cold day (locals were telling me it was colder than usual) and I only had five minutes to find a jacket. It's ironic, that there were drug addict men in the store but of course they were not told it was closed; here I am dressed up in formal work clothes and I am approached by that Fernando guy essentially telling me to leave. This can't be solved by training but supervising employees better; this man seems to be free to act this way without repercussions.

Review #985 Posted on 1.7.26…read more I stopped in here on New Years Eve to get some umbrellas as it was raining in San Francisco and we forgot ours at home. This place is right near where they're about to open up a jollibee and right outside of the BART Powell St Station exit. There's a security presence here but for some reason they don't just enforce getting rid of the people crowding around the entrance and exits both at the front. Not very welcoming. The store itself is huge, you can get all kinds of clothes you maybe forgot when traveling to the city, or other snacks, same as any other Ross except way more stuff. Worth popping in here if you're near to grab something you may need.

From toilet paper, tooth brush, bowls, tumbler, pencils, light bulb, lighter, underwear, luggage, toys, chairs, incenses, etc. It's actually overwhelming. It's like Costco, you lose sense of time in there. They had a sister store across the street but they closed it down and combined every thing here now. Came in here looking for bowls to replace our old ones, as some of them have chips on them. My mom didn't like any of them. And their price is high. Found the same bowls for $2 cheaper around the corner. I remember coming here when I was a little girl with my dad, he would purchase a toy for me each time we visit. Ofc I don't have them anymore. But I would play with them until they die on me or it breaks. I also bought a red mini broom/dust pan set for $10.99 few years back. It works so well! Light weight and sturdy. Used it at my work because the brooms we had there was extremely heavy. They have some value bargains definitively worth your buck. Instead of paying $5 for superglue, it's $2.49. Like most shops, they do not accept returns. Exchanges only. It's family own like most shops in CT, they're all really nice. Long before Fisherman's Wharf became what it is today, this building was a working Del Monte fruit cannery in the late 1800s, and I've always appreciated that it was preserved rather than replaced. You can still feel that history in the brick walls and the overall layout. Over the years, the Cannery has evolved into a mix of small shops, cafés, and casual food spots, but it never feels completely disconnected from its past. I like that it's not trying too hard to be flashy or trendy. It's a comfortable, familiar stop where you can step inside, wander a bit, or grab something simple without committing to a big plan. What keeps me coming back is the setting. I often find myself lingering outside, taking in views of the bay, Alcatraz, and the constant movement along the Wharf. It's an easy place to slow down for a few minutes and remember that San Francisco is at its best when its history and everyday life coexist naturally.
