Home of the cutlet indeed! We got a full 18' inch tuna grinder and Italian chicken cutlet grinder, both huge and fresh! The tuna had a little bit of celery, the bread was good, cheese was extra, peppers were extra (not worth it, barely any in there, for a few minutes I thought they had forgotten them). We also asked for olives which had to be on the side because the had the pits (so I guess no olives on pizza?), and they were kalamata. The Italian chicken cutlet was so packed with cutlet, I needed to peel it apart and eat it like and open faced sandwich! The sauce was delicious, the cutlet was very thin, moist and fried to perfection. I would prefer the cutlets a wee bit thicker, but they are great and seasoned. I would say a full grinder could anywhere from 4 to 10 people. We also had a pizza, which looked like cafeteria pizza, but was very good. Thick crust, thick cheese, good sauce. The lady up front was very nice, and offered to bring my food out to my car (I kept running back and forth because the kids were in the car). The inside is old school pizzeria style. Also, a lot of easy parking. All of that came to $56, which is a bit much, but was in fact a lot of food. It's cash only, and the ATM has a $2.50 charge....so add that to the cost. This was very good, but would have to be a special treat from time to time because of price. read more

i cannot believe they call themselves house of the giant cutlet grinder? house of the driest , over rated , dirty , cash only, grinder shop. They need to inspected by the health dept. Maybe sell one of the Mercedes and remodel, learn how to cook a moist chicken cutlet ! its 2016 folks .. read more

Chicken is from grocery store that is on sale youll all are being fooled into thinkin its italian far from it

The grinders are huge - very generously stuffed - and served with some good old fashioned Italian hospitality. The chicken cutlet, half size, was more than enough for two! Great go-to place..... read more

A gigantic delicious pile of chicken cutlets covered in homemade tomato sauce and gooey cheese for 7.75. Perfect.

It's like walking into a circa-1970's Italian persons home kitchen. In a totally good way. The staff, all family, are the greatest people. The best chicken cutlet grinders around! Simply amazing! (I prefer extra sauce and cheese on mine)... enough for 2 meals - they are BIG and THICK! All the other grinders are great too. I've never tried the pizza. Trust me - you're better off spending the money here for the service and quality as opposed to Subway, Quiznos or some lame chain. read more

Came here because of the reviews and very glad that I did. Came here with 2 friends and got 2 different chicken cutlet hero's and a meatball hero and they were probably the best I've had. The owners also went above and beyond with their service with everything. 10/10 would recommend read more

So, I may be a bit prejudice being Sicilian. However, their entrees are excellent. Eggplant and Chicken cutlet grinders are "As good as it gets!". read more

Truly an awesome place. Authentic, amazing owners take your order at the counter. Hand-made breaded chicken cutlets worth writing home about! Got the larger portion Italian Chicken cutlet sandwich, and this big eater was filled up. I'll be back!! read more

If your even a little bit of a fan of the chicken cutlet grinder than look no further than Wethersfield pizza house. Just order half because a whole can feed 4 people.... I counted 8 chicken cutlets on my grinder!!!! The 2 people who run the place couldn't nicer either! read more

They definitely need to add more add ons to the grinders such as peppers lettuce tomatoes..they hardly put anything on it..for the price they should stack it up read more

Totally amazing as always. Had the chicken with sauce and provolone. Huge sandwich. We split a half grinder.

So, I walked in a lunchtime and they took me right away. There was another guy waiting (for a pizza maybe?). I ordered a RB grinder. A few minutes later, I was told the sandwich was ready, and I paid and left. When I returned to my office, I realized they had actually given me a sandwich on a roll, which was not what I ordered, nor what I had paid for. My rating isn't for the food, which was very good, but the service which was obviously disorganized. Bummer. read more

The absolute best chicken cutlet grinder you'll ever have, period. The people there are great, and the only thing you can possibly complain about is that they don't take credit cards. Again, I'll say....THE BEST CHICKEN CUTLET GRINDER YOU'LL EVER HAVE!!! read more

Ok first of all I'm a Hartford man, born and raised. So for years when we had grinders, it was the same 3 places for years. Franklin Giant. Corner Grinder, Maple Ave Grinder. All exceptional and all a bit different but insanely good. However this isn't the 80's anymore. Franklin was the 1st w customer service and a decline in quality I haven't been there in years and have no idea if it is the same owners. Maple was sold years ago and it just wasn't the same and now they are no longer there. Last but not least Corner sold to someone else and of course it's not the same. So I heard of Wethersfield Pizza House for years and how good there grinders were especially there chicken cutlet. So I tried it today for the 1st time. I'm going to be brutally honest. I ordered a half of chicken w sauce cheese and peppers, brought it home for consumption. Before I tell you about the grinder, here were my impressions of the place. We'll start with the positive. The customer service was exceptional. Very friendly and it was fast. I could hear the lady speaking Italian. Being Italian I got a big kick out of that. The place was a little dirty and could really use a good cleaning. Of course being an older place perfection isn't expected but seriously you should keep your place clean. It reminded me a little of the old P & G grinder shop on Franklin ave in Hartford, which has been closed for years. Ok the grinder itself was pretty good. It wasn't the best I've had but it was the biggest as far as how many cutlets they put on it. Very generous portions. A little too much sauce and the cutlets weren't as crisp on the coating that I'm use to from Corner Grinder which use to be my favorite. But all in all it was a good grinder and they take cash only. Would recommend for a quick bite. They do close early, 7 PM and closed Sundays. read more

Nice people and the usual food...small eating area so no large crowds..more of a take out place..not a romantic atmosphere more for the guys or quick bite...only problem I had was I paid $9 bucks for three (3) italian sausages in sauce which made no sense..I'd try it out again if I was in the area but won't go out of my way..or if someone else picks up the check :) read more

Chicken parm grinder for the biggest appetite! Friendly place that is cash only. If you haven't had their chicken parm grinder, you just haven't had a chicken parm grinder. read more

The chicken sub tasted great but was very salty and required me to drink 3 L of water that night! It was tasty though! The pizza on the other hand is terrible. They didn't even bother to cut it. The crust was very thick and bread like and the cheese was burnt. They didn't even bother to cut the pizza either. The lady behind the counter is very nice. read more

The chicken cutlet is great. An 8 inch is big enough for 2, easily. The owner makes the atmosphere fun - she seems to know most everyone who comes through the door. At lunch, you'll wait a bit for your food - calling ahead for takeout is a good idea. Well worth it! read more

Unbelievable chicken parm. Huge grinder or plate. Slightly sweet sauce, chicken is crispy and delicious, cooked perfectly with some sautéed peppers on top. Decor is old school, and the lady there has a funny personality. Can't wait to go back. read more

This place is the real deal. There's no other way to put it. I haven't been to an Italian deli like that since the mid 1980's. Get the Italian combo or the chicken parm grinder. I can't wait to go back here. read more

I visited this place for the first time today after hearing they have the best grinders in America. I was welcomed with "Hey buddy! How are ya today?" Everyone here is treated like a buddy by the staff from the second they step foot in the door. I The grinders truly are the best I've EVER had. I split half a meatball and half a chicken parm with my buddy and we were instantly in love. This is my new favorite local spot. I'm actually still here and trying to finish my grinder but love this place so much I had to write a review asap. LOVE IT! read more

Just tried this place for the 1st time. I can honestly say that this was the best chicken cutlet grinder I have ever had in my life. Cutlet was perfectly seasoned and there was PLENTY of it. And just the perfect crunch too. Definitely worth the $10. Was really lunch for 2 days but I am a pig and I ate it all in one sitting. read more

Great service, even better food! First time here & I'll definitely be back. *chicken cutlet*

While their grinders are OK their customer service is horrible. This establishment does not answer their phone, when they are open, to take customer orders for takeout. This is extremely rude and, while I suppose they have enough business that they don't care about losing customers, they need to stop being so inconsiderate. If they are too busy to answer the phone at least have a message that says they are open, gives the hours they are open, and advise to call back later. We will not be going there any longer. Not worth it. read more

Located on a commercial main road in a strip mall across the street from Buy-Rite Liquors. Typical pizza parlor feel when you walk inside, and plenty of seating if you want to sit down and eat. With the few staff working, I would imagine there is no waiter service. There is a TV if that sways you to stay and eat. The grinders are excellent; try the meatball or chicken parmesan. The staff is very friendly and cares about your business. They are cash only. read more

Found this gem on Yelp while looking for a place to stop in a long road trip. So glad we did. I have never had a chicken cutlet grinder before, but this sandwich was so delicious. I split a half sandwich with my son, and neither of us could finish it was so big! That's right, we each had half of a half and could not finish it. Perfectly breaded, sauce was not too sweet, lots of cheese, layers and layers of chicken. Yumsters! Hubby had the eggplant grinder and loved it. Cash only, but they have an ATM. No website. Menu on Yelp in pictures section. Called and they told me about menu - very nostalgic. The woman who was the face of the joint was so friendly and funny. Great at keeping the place running and very entertaining. You order, then sit. They bring the food, you eat, and then you pay up where you ordered. 2 half sandwiches, chips, and two sodas for under $25 and we had leftovers. Their name implies they are a pizza place but no one there had pizza. All grinders. Tons of regular customers. Highly recommend! read more

My families favorite place for lunch! Considering that 2 out of 3 kids are coming from out of state and still look forward to eating here should say a lot. Between their chicken parm, and meatball grinders, ravioli, and chicken cutlet salads we are all happy! We have never been disappointed! Maria is always welcoming and seems to never forget a face - amazing! As to the reviewer who said the place is dirty-well, I've never seen it. Well worn and in need of remodeling, yes. But not dirty. There is a difference, a huge one and I thought I'd point that out. I am already looking forward to my next meal at this tiny little gem! read more

Good food always. Wish they would take debit card but definitely still the best grinders around after 25 years

I've been going to this place for over 10 years. The chicken cutlet grinder is so good I've honestly never tried anything else on the menu.

Came in all the way from Chicago to experience the Chicken Parmigiana grinder Wow, awesome food, but what made it better is the owners Maria and Steven Looking at the pizza, that is next on my list read more

Best chicken cutlets in the state of Connecticut. Doesn't matter how you eat it, with sauce on a grinder, with mayo and veggies, in a salad...it's all crazy good! The owners are friendly and funny. They take great care of you and keep you entertained while you wait for your dish. In the fall and winter they sometimes offer homemade soup and that is my very favorite! Stock full of veggies and beans and meat, served piping hot with parm cheese and fresh bread...:I crave it every weekend morning of the cold months! The only downside is that it is cash only, but they do have an ATM in the lobby read more

Best chicken cutlet ever!!!! Only menu item I've ever tried. Can't bring myself to try anything else because it's so good. I've had it Italian style and American. Italian is the way to go. 1st time eating here and boy what a nice treat. Greeted immediately by the friendly staff, the order took no longer than 5 minutes to be ready. I ordered an 8" pastrami, boy that sucker was stuffed to the gills. The sandwich was very tasty and plentiful. I think next time I will go with the roll. I definitely will revisit them for lunch when I am in the area. FYI, cash only!!!! read more

The chicken parm grinders are justifiably famous and huge. Whenever I get them I have to crack it open and just eat some chicken for a while, because they are too big to fit in my mouth. A half is too big for me to finish. But as good as the chicken parm is, the meatball is even better, imho. I love the meatballs here. I get a half meatball grinder with mozzarella cheese instead of provolone and it's amazing. In fact I'm about to call up and order one now. One thing about the chicken parm: you are better off calling ahead. They make the chicken in batches, and sell a LOT of these grinders. Sometimes you might have to wait until they make another batch. Oh, the coldcut sandwiches are grinders are great and packed. Sometimes I think they even put too much meat on it. And yes, it's cash only. Get over it. read more

if you want authentic, made to order, italian food that doesn't disappoint you,(as all of my old haunts have lately) i'm recommending you go to wethersfield pizza with all deliberate speed. the grinders are sooooo awesome as well the pizza . but the best part of the experience at this place is how the owners create your meal as if you were having dinner at their home. this is exactly how you should be treated like you are a valued customer. i promise you will enjoy the entire experience!!! They aim to please each person who comes to their restaurant. Go check it out for yourself. read more
