Talk about the good , the bad and ugly ...... Usually this is my families spot for grinders ... quite a drive but usually well worth it . We had family coming in from out of town and they were very excited about trying a true Connecticut "Grinder", from a shop we have always given such great accolades. Unfortunately we were all quite disappointed and very saddened that we will not be patronizing this shop any longer. Ordered a "special" , which is usually quite a grinder in its own right. Tonight everyone was in for a surprise when it arrived home , as it was not very special at all. Minus the roll , more than 1/2 of the contents were these awful tire like rounds of onion and tomato that were disappointedly thick and awful tasteing. The grinder was obviously "thrown" together , poorly at best and definitely was not what we have ever received in our previous outings to this shop. What was new .... when we called to inquire why we received such a mess , a very straight forward answer was given from the woman who answered the phone stating " I made the grinder and thats how they are always made " . Well , no they are not ! I gathered she was the owners wife when she then stated quite bluntly " I hate to lose a customer ... but ". Sounding so very lame at best and quite unconcerned. Really ? That pretty much says it all ! If the greed shown by cheaping out on a grinder , having no consistency and then not even showing any interest in listening to a concern from a long time customer without coming up with some b.s. like that is the standard ..... being left speechless , as well as 18.00 bucks lighter with something more suitable to be used as a "wheel chock" for my trailers tire in the driveway than a dinner ...... i will be giving this place the honor of having my very first Yelp review. Buyer Beware ! read more

I've been coming here for nearly two decades, and the chicken cutlet and eggplant grinders continue to be awesome; humongous and delicious. I can't imagine a single person eating a whole grinder, as a half is almost too much for me. I introduced my sister from Mystic to the place about six months ago, and now she makes excuses to come up to this part of the state to stop here for a grinder. If you haven't tried their chicken cutlet grinder yet, what are you waiting for? read more

Me and my mom went into the pizza house and we only ordered our favorite chicken cutlet sandwich, and came out with two t-shirts, a donut, and a whole thing of cheese balls. Congratulations on being 40 years into business! We hope you stay for 40 more! read more

Wao I don't know what to say, usually i don't write reviews but this place has basically force me to stop my laziness and to do them justice. My favorite grinders has always been chicken cutlet parm and having tried most of the best places around the greater hartford area i can say 100% to me these are the absolute best, not only they try to kill you with the amount of meat they put in their sauce is amazing and the bread perfect if you've never tried this place you owe it to yourself to try the chicken cutlet monster it is scary good. i am 250 pound and i can eat i couldn't finish a 8" chicken cutlet i tap out at almost 80% of the grinder. I've been going here for years. I always get the chicken cutlet with sauce and cheese. It's fresh, homemade and a huge portion. The 16 inch feeds four of us. I can genuinely say the quality has remained consistent and it never disappoints!!! read more

Way back when, I used to religiously go to this place just for the Chicken Cutlet Grinders. Just about everyday I'd order it for lunch and save the rest for dinner. The grinder is that huge and worth it that you can't stop eating it. The family is incredibly nice and go out of their way to get to know you and get your order out to you. Can't find any other pizza place that's close enough to be compared to their Chicket Cutlet Grinder or pizza. They need to come to Florida and open another shop!!! read more

Holy chicken sandwich! The chicken cutlet sandwhich here is not only huge, but delicious. Truly legandary! However, our vegetarian friend got a cheese pizza and it was scary greasy and really not that good. I reccomend sticking to the cutlets if you happen upon this place. All in all, it was a very positive experience. The staff is very friendly and you could tell that it was a community favorite, as they knew most of the other customers in the store on a personal level. read more

I went to WPH wanting chicken but not the bread, so I asked if I can get chicken cutlet with Pasta. OMG!!!!!!!!!!! The pasta was perfectly cooked, the chicken was moist, crispy and flavorful. The sauce, oh the sauce was dynamite! This was outstanding! I should try something else but the chicken is just so good. Treat yourself!!!!!! read more

My husband came here a year and had to bring me when we returned to Hartford. This is definitely a mom and pop joint. They do not take credit cards so bring cash or be prepared to use their ATM. We ordered a half a chicken cutlet and it was plenty for us to split. I can't imagine someone eating a whole portion themselves. It was a delicious sandwich. Get some sauce on the side as it can be a bit dry. The husband and wife that run it around super nice and extremely accommodating!!! Their hours are incorrect on Yelp. They close at 7 pm Mon-Thurs, at 7:30 pm Fridays and 8 pm Saturdays. read more

The best chicken cutlet grinder anywhere! Don't order a whole sub for yourself you will only be able to eat half of a half. Great Value for your money. The owner's are so nice. All the cold cuts are prime meat. read more

Chicken parm was amazing!!! I was starving and split an 8 in and was beyond full! Took a little while because they are packed for lunch but so worth the wait. The lady at the front is a sweetheart! So nice and kept apologizing for the wait. They are. Small mom and pop place and I love going to these types of places, always the best food and service! read more

Wethersfield Pizza House - Chicken park...half of a chicken parm 8in...imagine the 16 in! - Pizza Near Me - Wethersfield, Connecticut

I didn't know about this place until my fiance introduced me to the best grinder I have ever had. I didn't know a sandwich could ever be this amazing. I have had the roast beef. Amazing. The chicken cutlet. Phenomenal. The Ham. Life changing. It may have been a mistake introducing me to this place because now I want it at least once a week. I doubt there is a person who can eat a whole sized grinder. The sandwiches are so big and so meat stuffed that you can share a half with someone and be full. Right now I am drooling writing this review thinking about a nice sweet soft ham grinder. Give them a try and you will literally feel enlightened. read more

Awesome cutlets grinder so delicious and tender it just melts in your mouth. We had the leftover with pasta and Alfredo sauce delicious

I challenge you to find a better Italian grinder. Wethersfield Pizza is famous for their chicken cutlet grinder. it is HUGE. I always go for the eggplant grinder, which is equally delicious. For 4 people we got a half chicken and half eggplant and we couldn't finish them both. They have been around for such a long time and are trusted by the community to deliver the best sandwiches in town. Great people, great grinders. read more

We were very happy with our chicken Parmesan and eggplant parmesan submarine sandwiches that we got from here. they were served right out of the oven and wrapped up front play in front of us. Everything was breaded to Perfection just the right amount of sauce. And Subs are huge and we easily have enough for two meals out of each regular size sub. We also ordered a pizza the pizza wasn't very good so come here and Order sub sandwiches and enjoy them. read more

I know it's called Wethersfield Pizza, but they have the best grinders around, and are well know for their chicken cutlet grinder. SO BIG you can not get your mouth around it. It's best to take some of them off and make chicken parmesan for lunch or dinner the next day. All of the grinders are just the same, you can't beat this place if you are looking for a great grinder or pizza. It's just a little home town place and the owners will treat you like family. Used to work nearby and get grinders here once or twice a week, awesome sandwiches. This IS the "home of the Chicken Cutlet" [just like the sign says] and it is a very tasty, and very ginormous sandwich but I also have to give props to the eggplant parm the BLT and the meatball grinders too. The place is small, though tables and booths if you want to sit and eat but they do a lot of take-out and it is a cash-only business. Steve and Maria [the owners] are usually working and very friendly and personable. Great place to stop for lunch if you're in the area. read more

Wonderful service, delicious food, great price. Not much seating but a decent amount, usually not too busy.

As soon as we walked through the door, Maria was greeting us family style. Such a warm (not temperature) atmosphere! My group and I were visiting from Maryland, looking for a local spot. Well folks, this is it! The Italian Chicken sandwich was out of this world, legendary even. Wondering if they want to release their secrets and franchise! Highly recommend this local treasure, it's the real deal. read more

The best chicken cutlet grinders in Connecticut! Every grinder is overstuffed. You'll definitely have leftovers read more

First time going there and I won't be back. Ordered 2 whole grinders and when it came to pay I was informed they only take cash. Mind you there was no sign on the door, at the register or anywhere in the place. I was told it said it on the menu. Well that doesn't help when you order from the menu online. So I got hit 2.75 twice. Thought $40 would be more than enough.....nope had to ATM again and another fee. So 2 grinders costing about $55 when all was said and done and lousy customer service. read more

Cute place and really nice service. I came here with my dad and my uncle. They ordered grinders and I ordered the cheese raviolis. All of the food came out in 10-15 minutes (pretty good!) and the proportions were really good, I couldn't even finish the whole plate! Overall, this was a great place and I would be more than happy to come back again. read more

Just tried this place for the first time the other day and it was ahh-mazing. You'd never expect it from the store front, but inside I found some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. Sooo cheesy, just like I like it. It's not at all pricey, good eats, and very friendly staff. One heads up, THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH, though they do have an ATM inside if ya need it! :) read more

I seen the sign home of the best chicken cutlet, I stop in and ask for the chicken cutlet. The lady ask what do you want the 8" or the 16"? I said the 16". She ask me was I sure she can make a 8" I said no I want the 16". She ask have I ever been there before? I said no!!! Have you heard about us? I said no!!! I'm picking something up for me and my wife. As a matter of fact give me 2. 2 what? To whole chicken cutlets. She finished and said your order is ready!!! She handed me the bag and I paid!!! She handed me another bag and I ask "what is this"? She said you order 2 whole grinders, this is enough to make 10-12" subways. I called my son and daughter and ask do you need any food after this storm and gave both of them 8" each and gave my wife a 8" and I had one and very full and satisfied. Thanks I will be back. read more

Heard that the Wethersfield Pizza House has huge grinders . Stopped in with my son today to find out. Certainly lived up to my expectations. I had the 8" chicken cutlet and my son had the sausage. Wow ,the grinders are huge and delicious. The chicken cutlets were piled four high through the entire sandwich.Price was about 10 bucks a piece ,well worth it . The man and woman that own the place we're behind the counter and are very friendly and accommodating to make your dining experience pleasurable. This will be a future stop for me whenever I'm in the area and it is around lunch or dinner time . Still so full from lunch there this afternoon I will not be eating dinner tonight. My only regret was I didn't take a picture. read more

They have the best I mean the best chicken parm. I don't even bother with anything els in the menu it's that good. Huge portions so big I made a mistake due to me living about 60mil away and saw someone with a half thinking that's a hole I ordered it but they kinda grilled me for making that mistake but they don't have proper ways of telling unless you ask or are a regular so they lose a star for that but never had any other problem with them and forgive them especially when they make food that good. They are supper friendly and the nicest people. You do need cash and they have a atm but if you want to avoid the fees. That's something they don't really would not know unless your just in the know and based on how many go they should be able to accommodate so I justify not giving 4's read more

As good as it gets in our area. One of the only two sandwich places I go around here. Beware- they serve hige portions... Ordered the famous chicken cutlet grinder- could not even fimish half of the half-grinder ;) Chicken Cutlet was OK I would say- not the best of the sauce though. Owners are very friendly and courteous. Note- they do not accept cards here! So, the next time you wanna check out this place, make sure you have enough cash on you. read more

I have lived in Wethersfield for 5 years now and have driven by this place more times than I can imagine and never thought about heading in. Very non-descript location with the sign "Home of the Chicken Cutlet" or something to that effect. Odd for a pizza place to focus its draw on chicken cutlets I thought...Then, one day I stumbled upon the Yelp reviews for the place and figured I had to try it out. Never saw so many folks rave about the chicken parm and the pictures did look amazing. So, I will start my review with the one big nit to pick (and then it's all love from there): This place does zero advertising either online or anywhere. After searching for a menu to order from for 15 - 20 minutes, I finally gave up and just called the place and said I wanted a chicken cutlet sandwich. Woman asked what type / size and I said "Parmesean? I guess?" and "Foot long?". I get that this place is old school, but someone should make a simple website for these folks with name, number, address, and a simple PDF scan of the menu. That alone would help out immensely. Will say the place lives up to its Yelp hype. I ordered a full size sandwich, while will run you close to $20...Now you're thinking $20 for a sandwich? Insane! But, this thing is freaking huge. Foot long and stacked 5 or 6 cutlets high. Those cutlets are pounded thin, seasoned well, breaded, fried, and delicious. Add on some sauce and cheese and, for $20, you have 3 - 4 awesome meals easily. My family of 3 finished what we could and I had a lunch with the rest the following day. They also make smaller sizes (1/2 foot long and a smaller sandwich). That is really the beginning and the end of the review. Definitely not a place you're going to have a sit down meal in. They have some tables, but feels like mostly take-out. They do other sandwiches and pizza judging by the menu, but everyone coming in to pick-up was getting the same thing. Oh, and a cash only joint...they have ATM on site, but if you're not into paying a convenience fee to pay your bill, think ahead! But, if you're looking for a knock-out Chicken Parm sandwich around Wethersfield, you can't beat this place... read more

If eating an entire 16" chicken cutlet grinder with mozzarella cheese and sauce from the Wethersfield pizza house is not on your list of things to eat before you die, you completely suck at life and should contemplate suicide!!! Harsh? Perhaps, but then again you only live once so eat well!!!! #manup and I'm pretty sure if your a success you get a free t-shirt and who doesn't like free t-shirts? read more

The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because I usually only order one thing because no one else makes a chicken cutlet grinder like this place does! I havent gotten the opportunity, or had the ambition to order anything else. The half grinder is enough to feed 2 people! They start with fresh baked bread and continue to pile on homemade cutlet, sauce, cutlet, sauce, repeat. Then top it with provolone or mozzarella. It is my favorite comfort food in town. If you are ever in wethersfield, make sure you stop by and order one. Also, enjoy the old italian atmosphere and homie feel as the owners treat you like family. read more

Horrible customer service experience. Not only they don't accept cards but the owners doesn't care that his customers have to pay to use the ATM! So if your a debit card user you better add another $5 additional ATM fee to your sandwich. The chicken cutlet sandwiches looks very gigantic but the reason to that is because there is hardly any chicken and it is all breaded! Customer service is important to me but this place ruined it. The owners wife curses like a truck driver and has no filter so be careful bringing your kids around this place ! Other then that if your looking for horrible customer service experience then this is the place to be ! read more

Wonderfully friendly owner/manager who makes it seem like you are family every time you walk in. Chicken cutlet sandwich is one of the best meals/deals in the area. A half sandwich will set you back 7-8$ and is absolutely stuffed with delicious chicken, tasty sauce, and fresh mozzarella sliced to order. I have a big appetite and can't finish a half in one sitting. read more

Finally got to try the famous chicken cutlet at WPH and surprisingly it lived up to the hype. I got mine Italian style with sauce and provolone. The only weak spot is the ordinary grinder roll but the chicken is cooked perfectly and the sauce hits the spot. I like that the chicken cutlets are nice and thin but still piled high on the sandwich. This place must make 100's of these everyday so they really have the formula down. Not sure I'd try anything else here but why bother when the chicken is so good. read more
