I wish they had Wet Willie's in Chicago and Dallas. It's such a fun atmosphere and the idea is so simple but brilliant. Beale street is a bit different since you can carry your drink around as you party, but you gotta love that!. I recommend going in and sampling a few things and going for it. The alcohol is pretty strong and the price is a tad on the higher side for drinks, but still ain't bad! read more

This is a review from 12/15 Another stop we made was on Beale St and we had to try Wet Willies just because of the name. They have many different frozen drinks with some crazy names. My fiance got the Shock Treatment and it was really good. I tried the Sex on the Beach, it wasn't as good as her drink but I still enjoyed it. They had live music, the band wasn't the best I have heard but still made for a nice night. We tried a couple of appetizers, if we make it back we'll probably just go for the drinks. It's worth checking out if you are in the area. Just a side not to men, if you go to the restroom you will have a great view of the whole place because there is a window looking out into the place, this was very different. read more

Came to Wet Willies with friends to get a daiquiris on a hot Memphis day and as I was about to order the bartender says that the computer was down so there was a hold on taking orders. When the computers came back up as I was already sitting down with my friends who already had their drinks the bartender completely forgot about me and went back to the bar and took orders from everyone else but me so I gave up and moved on. Tony and I was enjoying Memphis and the Cold Night life on Beale Street and Tony was a little "drunk" so I thought maybe we should get something to eat, and he was ready to head back to the hotel. So we crossed the street in front of Hard Rock Cafe, I almost went here, but I have ate there before and I like to try new locations. So, WET WILLIE's Neon Lights were flashing so I thought ...why not???? We had never been there before, not sure of the theme or food there, but it looked inviting. So, in we went. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a little larger than we thought. There was plenty of tables and a large stage for the band and a smallish dance floor in case anyone wanted to "cut the rug" as we say in West Virginia...lol !!! The bar area was amazing..it was a Daiquiri bar like they have everywhere in New Orleans. I didn't know that there was one in Memphis...Nashville needs one of these...I bet this is a huge hit in the summertime especially since you can walk with cups drinking in public on the streets or I should say "BEALE STREET" only.. I asked the barmaid and she said they had 26 flavors. I can't drink alcohol anymore, but I would have loved some of those flavors. In my day, I was a major daiquiri drinker.. The waiter greeted us and seated us immediately near the band. It was really loud and the music was more like late 70's rock..not bad!! Tony loved the men's room he said you could stand at the urinal and look at the wall and see the bar ((( it was a two way mirror like in a squad room))) the women's room doesn't have this feature...DRATS!!!! Tony ordered the " Philly Cheese Steak with French Fries" and Budweiser and I ordered the TACO meal, it was three tacos with meat and lettuce with salsa, hard shells with no cheese or sour cream..it wasn't bad, but not great ...I wouldn't order this again, but It was good. You might like it, it was fine because of my diet, but I would prefer some tomatoes and sour cream with a little cheese. It would have made it better. I would eat there again, but I prefer to try a new place first.. I had two glasses of pink Lemonade (zero points and the tacos were about 10 points) The price wasn't bad. First of all.... I've been coming here for YEARS. My favorite thing is Attitude Improvement mixed with mango. AI is pretty strong as it is so I like to cut it with the mango a little.. and it tastes good as fuck. Can I ask you what is better than a bar with slurpee machines lined up behind the bar- all with ASTOUNDINGLY strong iced drink concoctions spinning away , awaiting your taste buds? Normally frozen drinks are pretty weak- and considered to be rather girlie. Well, if you find frozen drinks to be for females only, then I suggest you head on down to Wet Willie's and order yourself an Absinthe, Call a Cab or an Attitude Improvement (these are the names of the drinks, I'm certainly not telling you to adjust your attitude). I have never tasted anything so strong in my life. Perhaps this is based on the small fact that I later learned most of these beverages are made with grain alcohol- and the Absinthe with 138° absinthe MYTHE. I would tell you more of this experience, but I simply do not remember it. This was one of 3 drinking experiences in my life that had it not been for photographs, I would have no recollection of what transpired that evening. For those of you who are watching your weight or counting carbs- they offer the "Naked Willie" sugar and carb free. Those of you too scared to try a Willie concoction? Yeah, they cater to you as well. You can order up the "Weak Willie" which is a virgin option sans alcohol. Can I ask why you would bother though? FUCK I found something else San Francisco is seriously lacking. First - amazing ribs. Now: A 30 foot bar with nothing behind it but slurpee machines full of booze. The Call A Cab was so strong I couldnt drink it, and that is a rarity for an alcoholic like me. I later found out it is made of whiskey, rum, grain alcohol, and "Red". Things I liked about Wet Willie's: 1) They adhere to there dress code. (Guys were forced to remove their hats.) 2) No cover even though there was a live band. 3) Grain alcohol. Things I didn't like about Wet Willie's: 1) Uhh...? Yeah, I wanted to say I hated the spot, partly because I'm a big fan of non-chains. But there was honestly nothing really to complain about. Sure it wasn't a spot you'd necessarily find me in normally (I'm more of a beer girl and less of a frozen fruity drink girl), but any place that adds grain alcohol to their drinks is a place I can call home. We showed up just about as the band was finishing up, so our poor timing was a little disappointing. Overall the crowd seemed like a fine mix of tourists and locals alike. This place just is what it is. Go in and get a mass produced slushy drink FULL of alchol. Call A Cab is what I ordered and let's just say I had to excuse myself from my friends at about 10PM and go back to my hotel to throw up my life. I can't hang as hard as I used to. We bought our drinks and walked across the street to Handy Park to look at the vendor stalls and listen to a Blues Band that was playing there. The bar itself is kind of depressing on the inside. Little annoying thing that happened: My brother almost didn't get served. We were stopped on our drive up to Memphis for speeding so his license was taken away and all he had was his ticket, BUT he has a FOID card. The bartender was being really douchey and acting like he did us a favor by accepting the FOID card as identification. Told us that if we had a passport this wouldn't be an issue-I know the South seems like a whole different country, BUT we weren't aware that we travelling internationally. I get he is doing his job, but he could have easily just said NO and we would have went elsewhere. No need for the dramatics. This was the best bar on Beale Street! They don't need fancy decor or top notch musical acts here. They have 20 or so frozen daiquiris on "tap," and I wish I had the time and stomach to try them all. Already a bit tipsy, I leaned against the bar agonizing over weather I wanted the chocolate (excuse me, I mean CHOCOLATE THUNDER,) or the White Russian. The bartender (who looked like he could've been a stripper named Chocolate Thunder) said he could mix them, and I fell in love instantly. I couldn't even finish it because it was a waste of my calories. On the Friday night I went to in January it was dead as a doornail inside. I remember back in the day this place used to be the cool spot ot be... Now i think im an old lady and have moved on to older pastures. I love the idea of the booze slushie wall, walk in, point and sample... create your own mixed concoctiojn or use one of their reccommendations... your choice.. but in my case have the tums on hand... between the brain freeze and the firey burn of some hellish heartburn... i have to pass. The boys both got whatever the most alcoholic combination was and i kid you not the first taste was like drinking jet fuel. it went down rough.. However i do believe from the shenannigans that ensued later that night the drinks did accomplish their goals :) and some of the flavorsare alot more tolerable then some of the others. My issue is that I cannot seem to drink them fast enough, and I end up with a slurry of alcohol and sugary flavoring, rather than a yummy frozen treat. Go for the drinks, and not for the food. With friends of mine, we needed some fuel to keep the party going, and I just thought the food was okay. Nothing amazing, and I probably could have made it in my own kitchen. It's a fun little spot. This one however was unique...because you can order a sugar free drink! We walked in on a Monday night. The place was dead but all we wanted was a drink to go anyway. The girl behind the bar was friendly and told us Tennessee had a no sampling law (???) Strange...some like to try before they buy but ok. There is a list of descriptions so you can pretty much go off that to order. My friend ordered the "Call A Cab" which was pretty damn tasty. I opted for the healthy sugar free mango something-or-other. Yeah, you could tell it was missing something but it was booze so...not a big deal, it was still decent. As soon as I get into Memphis Wet Willie's is always my first stop on Beale. On a hot Tennessee day there is just nothing better than a slushie chock full of grain alcohol. Doesn't sound appealing to you? Trust me, its delicious and after a 'call a cab' you'll be ready to get your party on all over Beale St! They also serve food, but I've never eaten there so I can't review that but it's always looked good! The last time I was there they were serving jello shots for $2- also made with grain alcohol. They weren't the tastiest but they did get the job done. A large drink will run you around $8.50, there is a smaller version for around $6 but you'll want the large. They also have another cup with an included coozy option if the cold is too much for your hands! At night they have live music of karaoke. Just a blast in a glass. read more

Wet Willie's was one of the favorite places I visited while in Memphis. Which is strange, because I am not a frozen drink kind of girl....but when in Rome, or Memphis.... This seemed like the least crowded option, and they had live music with no cover - SCORE! The band was really good, and they took requests. They really got the crowd going. We managed to score a table as another group was leaving, just after getting our brain freezing slushies. I had the "call a cab," which was cherry and strawberry and 151 and 100% freaking delicious. A few of those and you will have to call an ambulance! My friends had a pina colada (WAY too sweet for me) and a strawberry something.....it was a fun stop. I'm a self professed beach bum so this place makes me feel like I'm at the beach, just because of the frozen drinks, even if nothing about the decor is beach themed lol. I love their daiquiris! They are quite cooling and pack a punch. I mix a high-octane with a mix of orange for a cool tasty treat before the downtown stroll. The lines can be long atrociously long with equally slow service. I flank the crowd by flashing a $10 bill for a large and catching them serving someone. Another tactic for not losing your buzz waiting in line: I bought a tourist's drink that took pictures and squeezed in my drink order with her transaction. Pretty cool bar on Beale St. Never have I seen so many daiquiri machines lined up in a row with so many flavors. And not just any daiquiri-very high proof ones! There are probably 25 flavors then all kinds of concoctions you can make by mixing them. Beer is served too for the non daq lover. At the recommendation of the slushtender, we ordered 2 large pina colada/strawberry slushies, and made our way outside. The drinks were a little pricey, but DAMN were they strong! I had the Triple Play and the chocolate one (can't recall the name). Triple Play was overly sweet and not at all boozy. The chocolate was not properly frozen and tasted wrong by itself. However.... We were ready to take our drinks and walk outside. The guy behind the counter practically begged us to stay as the entertainment was about to begin. So we stayed. Oh my gosh. If you guys ever hear of Victor Wainwright and his band playing anywhere you must GO! You'll want to break out and swing dance like a mental patient deprived of his Prozac! Now, this was a little more boozy and I could feel the sneaky effects. If I had two I'd have to get assistance. Victor and his band had played earlier and wrapped up before we got there the second night. Bummer. My senior year of college I went to Miami on spring break and first learned of this establishment. Years later I am now visiting Memphis and I knew I needed to get a drink from here I ordered a piña colada paid and that walked up and down Beale street with it. It was sweet with enough alcohol to know that this was not a drink for children. It was refreshing in the Summer Memphis heat. Wet Willies drinks are well known and have been consistent when it comes to flavor and quality. But the only issue I had on this current visit is the staff that was working there. My wife and I got there around 8:30 on a Wednesday night to meet up with some friends we haven't seen in a while. We all ordered drinks but wasn't able to order chips and salsa because the kitchen was closed. I asked what time they close Ashley the person who was responsible for the bar at the time told me 12:00. I was ok fair enough so we paid for our drinks and sat at the table awaiting our guests. After we all met up my wife asked to use the restroom after she finished her drink. Ashley told her no because the bathroom was closed for the rest of the night because it was just cleaned and it was about 9:30. So my point is even though the drinks was good....terrible customer service ruined what could have been a good time. I know this is a long post....if things were different like bad drinks but good customer service would have a better chance of keeping good customers. read more
