A year ago I would have left a 5 star review; however, following the departure of my initial doctor followed by my subsequent doctor, my experience with Westside Dermatology has been extremely poor. My first two physicians were beyond fantastic, but after the departure of my second doctor (for which I never received any type of communication), I have been unable to connect with anyone from this office to (1) confirm who my new doctor is, and (2) answer questions/call in prescribed medications. I have left four voicemails in the past week (neither the main number nor the physicians assistance number have been answering) and sent messages through the patient portal but no response of any kind has been received. I am incredibly disappointed, as this seemed like a wonderful option in WS. read more

update: Billing has been corrected by office per voice message they left me 7/5/21 Wow -- I had been quite happy to book an appointment to review my rosacea and see if light therapy would help (as suggested by a primary dermatologist with Kaiser - who explained Kaiser does not perform those therapies and insurance would not cover it)... So - after a long time (due to covid) I got an appointment... I went in and saw Dr. Wilske... her response to my facial appearance was that "my skin looks pretty good" -- well I am not having a rosacea "flare" at the moment but it is disturbing when I do. she instead wanted to ask me about other issues and ask if I wanted a full body review which I declined (due to already having been seen by Kaiser dermatologist for ongoing potential skin issues. Dr. Wilske looked at two red spots on my chest (hives likely that I get on and off and they go away just fine) - not to be confused with other skin issues that I have that are dry and are the Actinic Keratosis kind of bumps... I have had several of those treated at other clinics over the years. So - she told me to watch these spots and come back in if I wanted them removed. They went away quickly and she did not remove anything. (Appointment was in April). I paid the visit fee as a "self pay" client as I knew I did not have coverage there. $118 paid IN FULL upon departure. so just recently I start getting billed for "destruction of premalignant lesions" -- THAT NEVER HAPPENED.. seriously -- wow ... I wrote a message to dr a while back to have chart corrected... it has not been corrected... I got a call from the billing department -- told them procedure DID NOT happen... now I have a printed bill in the mail... I sent another message to DR and left a voicemail today with the office (in detail asking for corrected billing)... I will be calling the billing department again and they will get further written communication from me to remove these charges. Here is the sad thing -- if I did have coverage - my insurance would have paid this - no questions asked... THIS is a serious problem. all for $206 balance --- sorry - NOT gonna pay for a treatment that DID NOT HAPPEN!!! ** update edit * Billing was since corrected by the office* They did seem concerned that it happened and were relatively quick to correct it after I sent a couple of portal messages. I still think this is a bad problem and happens far more often than we all are aware of because insurance companies have zero idea of what treatments actually happened. Dr. Marcus and the team at Westside Dermatology are really fantastic. He listens to my concerns, addresses issues I'm having with my skin whether big or small, and all with a fun and lighthearted environment. The office is doing a great job with social distancing in the waiting area, requiring masks for all staff and patients, and pre-screening patients for fever and other covid-19 symptoms. The location is perfect (right in the junction) and has its own parking lot for easy parking and access to the building. I'd highly recommend them and especially Dr. Ramsey Marcus for any of your dermatological needs. read more

Originally, I gave this place 2 stars because I waited for an hour for my doctor to show up. On this latest visit the doctor was behind mostly because she was double booked. The irritating part was, I was there 15 minutes before the other patient who was seen before me. Unfortunately for my doctor, I am rating this place on my overall visit. Dr. Sung however was the bright spot in my visit. Super attentive and knowledgeable! I had read some of her other reviews and expected my visit to only get worse, but she was nothing like the reviews I read. She would get 5 stars, and the rest of my experience would have been 1 star combining my two visits. I would only go back there if I had an appointment with Dr Sung. read more

We had the best appointment with Westside Dermatology today! My husband and I have been going here for years, and honestly we can't imagine going anywhere else. Even though it takes over one hour to drive here from our home, it is well worth it. The office is very clean and safe. Dr. Arntzen provided excellent and very thorough annual skin exams for both of us. She answered all our questions and took care of all our issues. I love Dr. Arntzen! She is warm/friendly/professional/proficient. I feel like she takes her time with me and provides an amazing service. But, even when I arrive at the agreed upon appt time, I always have to wait an extra 30-60 minutes to see her. This time, my appt was at 2:30. They told me that there was a cancellation ahead of me, so the doctor would be in soon. I still sat in the room for 1/2 hour before she arrived. I wish her office respected my time by scheduling her better. Also, I have to say that I don't find her office staff to be very friendly at all. read more

If it weren't for Dr. Arntzen, I might be dead. Since I started seeing her about 10 years ago, she has diagnosed, and referred me for treatment, for 2 melanomas and 1 carcinoma. Needless to say, I trust her with my life. And, well, I've started getting a little botox along with my skin checks. She knows what she's doing there too. I brought my son here to have a couple dry patches on his skin checked out. His appointment was for 4pm. We arrived early to fill out paperwork. It is now 5:08. The front desk informs me he will not be done for another 10-15 minutes. Due to covid, I have waited outside, but I will NOT be scheduling any further appointments here. I thought I could save time by staying in west Seattle versus going downtown to my regular dermatologist. I could have been there and back by now because they actually honor appointment times. I love Westside, the staff and physicians are good at what they do. I had something right next to my eyelid that needed a biopsy. They were very thorough in how to accomplish the biopsy so close to my eye. This made me nervous at first, but I was more comfortable as they continued because they were taking so much care and explained everything they were considering. Turned out great, no scar and nothing showing on the biopsy. Just went back for a skin care consultation and am excited to keep my face and skin looking healthy. This was the first time visiting Westside Dermatology. I went there because of referral from my doctor, because I had a sketchy mole on my back, that he was concerned about. I was on time for my appointment, and there were already people in the waiting room. I filled out my paperwork, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. After 45 minutes, I told them I was leaving, and would not be rescheduling. I am sure they are good at what they do, but time management is not one of them. Now I have to go back to my doctor, get another referral for another dermatologist just to find out if I have melanoma or not. I received a voicemail when I got home. I was told that they doctor had an a emergency earlier day in the day, and that is why they were behind. Then I was told, that the doctor would go out of their way and make themselves available at 7:45 am Monday. I told them I had to ask for time off from work, and I could not do that on a Monday. If the receptionist would have told me that when I checked in, it would have been a whole different story. They could have offered me to reschedule or wait. Instead, they told me nothing. read more

My wife has been to Westside Dermatology 3 times with 3 different docs. Different experiences with all of them. Latest visit was with Dr. Sung, whom she liked very much. Dr. Sung was friendly, straightforward and listened. My wife didn't feel rushed and had a thorough exam. Also my wife did not have to wait long in the waiting room or exam room, contrary to others who wrote reviews. One visit was with Dr. Wilkse. She was a bit "off". She gave my wife lots of samples for all sorts of things, went out of the room for long periods of time, came back with more samples, and rambled on. My wife was in the exam room for a long time. She answered the dr's questions and then the dr. asked the same question again! We had to look up on the internet the different prescription samples to figure out what they were.... and they were not for the concerns my wife had! The dr gave her the wrong creams. Very strange. Would never go back to Dr Wilkse. Dr. Arntzen was Ok - a bit rushed. Since my wife waited over 3 months to see Dr. A., she was hoping for more. read more

This review for Dr. Sarah Sung, who moved away from her Baltimore location (Johns Hopkins) out to Seattle. She and I kind of traded places with a bit of overlap in Baltimore, and I miss her. She is a wonderful, kind and caring doctor. Well trained, without a shred of pomp or ego, and quite competent. It's hard to find many dermatologists as well balanced in medical dermatology and cosmetics/aesthetics. Lucky for all my Seattle friends, I'm referring them all to her because she's a gem. Not so lucky for me, as I'm still looking for a primary dermatologist to fill her shoes. I will be sure to see her in Seattle when I am back. read more

I happened to be able to get an appointment here with Dr. Sarah Sung. I really did not like her. That is not typically a requirement for me to respect her. She is just a terrible doctor. She informed me on Thursday that I had Paget;s Disease and that she wanted me to go see a breast surgeon and then have me come back by her office to see in me in a month. I asked her why she needs to see me and she said "So I can check on you". WHA? I am not going to make an appointment with her to satisfy her curiosity. Oh, and then there was the part where she informed me that I had something called Paget's Disease. Then she sent me away. I had to find out that I had breast cancer all by myself in the car in her parking lot ALONE on my phone by myself. The internet informed me that I had breast cancer. I was informed by technology that I had cancer, a potentially life-threatening illness while I was in the parking lot alone by myself. Dr. Sung had been sitting on this information for 2 days. She didn't even bother to call me up 2 days prior to tell me that I had Paget's Disease. Because that would have been a preferable way to discover that I have breast cancer over the part where I found out in the parking lot of her office in the pouring rain alone without anyone to help me absorb the shock. Because she sent me out of her office thinking that I had some weird disorder... I had NO CLUE that I had breast cancer until I was out of her office. That doctor is heartless for allowing that to happen to me read more

Not really impressed. After moving from the Eastside, I had to find a new dermatologist when I developed a rash around my lips earlier this year. The doctor that I saw, Dr. Luchetti or something of the sort, made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. She made faces while she was examining me and making comments like "eww!" and "this is really disgusting". Um, yeah. That's why I came to you, to get rid of it. Most recently, I saw Sarah Sung on a sort of last-minute appointment to examine what I thought was a milia or small cyst on my face. She was running around 40 minutes late to my appointment, which I took off work early for. She then spent maybe 10 minutes with me, not examining my condition at all before prescribing me some acne medication. I also asked for a refill for my Retin-a which she obliged to. I also asked her to quickly remove a skin tag that was on my neck that I genuinely forgot to mention at the time of making my appointment. She kept saying how "normally they would schedule a separate visit for this", and "just this one time would be an exception". I get that you have other patients to see, but I have also been waiting 40 minutes to see you, so give it a rest. Overall, the front desk staff seems to be especially incompetent. When I checked in for my appointment, I pulled my debit card out of my wallet to pay my co-pay upon which Stephen (Steven?) took his wallet out of his pants and compared my debit card to his. Odd and creepy. Then he gave my a few forms to sign, but I told him he gave me the wrong forms, and he insisted I had to sign them. I then informed him that he gave me another patient's paperwork. Seemed like of sloppy. The last event was the last straw for me. I made an appointment, again taking time off of work, to get a facial. About 10 minutes prior to my appointment, they called to let me know they had lost power and couldn't fit me in. That was fine, I understood. They then told me they would call back on Monday, this was a Friday, to reschedule. Well, it's been over a week and they haven't called back, so they must not want my business that bad. read more

Today was my first time to west side dermatology. Last night when checking out where the place was exactly, I stumbled across these reviews and was a bit nervous. First off I will say that Sarah Sung is a sweet heart and very professional. I felt like I had her full attention and she cared about my concerns. My first impression wasn't amazing due to the staff at the front desk. When I walked in they didn't even look at me & when one of them finally did she was waiting for ME to say something?
