I'm not complaining about Dr Chow, but about an encounter with one of his wound care specialists. I went in for a full body check. I told the MA I had a scab on my right forearm. I lived in Las Vegas I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. I had been given a cream to apply every day. The scab even went away. Due to personal health issue, I had stopped using the cream. When I was examine, the specialist said it wasn't cancer and proceeded to burn the scab off. When I reached home, I noticed that the small round bandage that covered the wound was soaked in blood. The intake forms had asked if I ever had to stop taking aspirin before a denta procedure. I checked the no box. I take aspirin every day to help with sciatica nerve pain. When I replaced the blood soaked bandage with a bigger one, that too was blood soaked. I started to panic and looked online to find out how I could stop the bleeding. It said put pressure on the wound and keep the arm elevated. I did that for 1 hour. I decided to fold a tissue into a 1 &1/4" long by 1" wide bandage and tape it on. In the morning I cut the end off the tissue and peeled each layer off. By the time I got to the wound, it was still leaking a little blood. I decided to leave the wo uncovered in order to dr it out. The same evening I called the office, after hours and left a detailed message as to my problem. I requested a return call w instructions on what to do. I never got a return call. 4 days later I received an email saying it was cancerous. I then received an estimated copay for $ 1,381.00. When I called to speak to the billing department, I told the female employee what had happened. She apologized and said she would put notes on my record. i canceled my appointment to get Mohs surgery 2 days later. I couldn't wi good conscienc, not report this on Health Grades. This review is not a reflection of the service provided by Dr. Chow- He's excellent. It's the professionalism of the back office. Under a former insurance plan, Dr Chow provided excellent service. I had to switch insurance providers ( WA market place) and I specifically chose a new insurance provider as Dr Chow is listed (twice) as being in network. However, when calling to make an appointment, was told they DO NOT accept my new insurance. When I confirmed this with my insurance, they called Dr Chow's billing Dept- and their response was Nope , we no longer accept my plan. THEY NEVER UPDATED THEIR PROVIDER NETWORK. People are making insurance decisions based upon their lack of professionalism to update records. Just unprofessional. And people wonder why health care is so screwed up. -jp read more

Not a fan. I saw Dr Chow several times at the recommendation of my primary. The issues I saw him for continue, the treatments provided did not help. I had a prescription issue with approvals from my insurance and his office didn't do anything to help with it. They just dropped it. I had billing issues where they claimed to contact me, but I did not receive those contacts. Not a great experience. Making an appointment was difficult at times even after I was an established patient. The person scheduling was brusque. The location was convenient for me, but the parking lot is difficult to deal with often enough. read more

Dr Chow is an outstanding doctor that takes sincere interest in his patients well being. I just returned for my second yearly checkup yesterday. He takes his time, answers questions, makes suggestions and deals with any existing issues quickly and effectively. I had a bad experience today with Dr. Robert Chow on Ambaum Blvd in Burie. I made an appointment for a cosmetic mole removal consultation and was told at the time of booking that he could help with that with no problem. When I got to my consult, he immediately told me he does not handle cosmetic mole removal. I said to him that is what I booked the consult for and was told he could help me. It's difficult to rate a doctor. So I will rate the office in general. Parking is difficult even with a mid size vehicle. Small lot for the building itself. I have seen Dr Chow for years. I trust his work as I have dealt with Melanoma twice. Today I did seem to be forgotten in the room. After 30 minutes I popped my head out and he was in within minutes. I find the staff to be friendly and receptive. Never had a problem with that. His appointment time is typically out a couple of months so plan early. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Chow for many years, it's a longer drive to see him after he moved his practice to Burien, but I find it well worth my time. I see a few complaints here about parking lot size and a few mentions of people manning the front desk not meeting expectations. Maybe it's because I greet people at the front desk with a smile that I've had no trouble for 15 or more years? I don't know, but if Dr. Chow had no parking at all, it would not discourage me in the least. I was in Dr. Chow's office just yesterday with my most serious reason to visit him. It's not that he's just a great doctor, he's also a great human being. He might have to leave the State to lose me as a patient. read more

I have had a very positive experience with Dr. Chow. He is thorough, kind, and friendly. The nursing staff is also competent and ready with a smile. However, his reception staff could work on friendliness! A nice friendly greeting when you arrive would be nice. Also eye contact would make patients more at ease. Much like Tanu V.'s review, I can't get anyone to call me back. Sometimes the phone just rings and rings and I don't ever get to their voicemail system. It's too bad because I like Dr. Chow and his staff. They were friendly, helpful, listened well and were encouraging about treatment options. I had to wait three weeks for an appointment, but in Seattle that's really good. Most places have a three month wait. Then I didn't hear back from them. I thought maybe I was being impatient but after two weeks I started to wonder. After several calls I finally got a reply; they said they didn't get my lab results. That was annoying because I was called by the lab with my results in two days. Apparently it was my responsibility to send those results back to the doctor who ordered them. Fair enough, my mistake. So they said they'd call me on the 19th. It is now the 24th and no call. Time is the most valuable resource in life and these people are wasting my time. Now I have to find another dermatologist and wait three months for an appointment. read more

The waiting room is shiny and nice, but the staff seemed overworked, and unhappy. The Dr was distracted, aloof, and missed the mark on some really basic treatments. The fire suppression system was dripping liquid in the examination room. My appointment started an hour late, and the Dr was already trying to get out of the room after seeing me for 5 minutes. Since they are only open 4 days a week, I think their mission is to fit 5 days worth of patients into those 4 days. It doesn't seem like this works well for anyone. I returned for a follow up appointment a month later, and the experience was the same. read more

I would give zero starts if that was an option!! Had an appointment scheduled for two months, mentioned what i was going to be seen for during the first phone call i made to make the appointment, during this call the first question was if they took my insurance which they did. i talked to this person two other times verifying my apt. I had to clock in and out of work early to make it to my apt and then had to drive 40 min in traffic to get there. as i was filling out my paper work i was told in a rude tone and manner that there was going to be $100 consult charge to be seen and was told that someone should've told me this... the guy telling me this was the one i spoke to on the phone many times, he messed up and didn't tell me ahead of time so i can be prepared to spend that much. If i would've known i would've been prepared. He was very rude and condescending to the point i had to storm off before i could speak my time. It then took me a hour to get home from an apt i didn't even get to have that i was looking forward too . The procedure i was attempting to get a consult on was Botox for my Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). read more

I had been suffering with a chronic rash for 1 1/2 years and had seen another dermatologist, an internal medicine specialist, an allergist and a naturopath. All of them had pre-conceived notions as to what I had. Dr Chow was the only one who took the time to note all my symptoms. He spent quite a bit of time doing some research, and in the end, he correctly diagnosed (and treated) my problem. More doctors need to do that. read more

I am really disappointed with the services given by his staff. I had gone there with a hair loss problem and in order to know about my blood test results it took me around 2 weeks to get hold off the doctor. It showed some inflammation in liver and i got the second round of test done. Again i had to go in loops to hear back from them. The Medical assistant line will always go on voicemail and you will never here back from them until you call again.. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. read more
