I had a bad experience at this clinic. The initial issue I had was a billing matter. I received two treatments from them, but for some reason, the second treatment was nearly twice as much as the first. I called their office to get some sort of explanation. The explanation I was given didn't make much sense to me. The initial person I spoke with seemed a bit unsure as to why the second treatment was so much more expensive, so she told me that she had to look into it more and get back to me. I called the office again a few days later and spoke to someone else who worked in their office. She gave me a completely different explanation from the first individual that I spoke with, and I was no less confused after speaking with their second rep. She eventually told me that she was just relaying the notes that had been left in my file by their manager. So, I asked if I could speak with her manager directly to get a more detailed explanation. I was connected to the manager, and I believe her name was Ronnie. The first thing that Ronnie said to me when she got on the phone was something along the lines of "I'm just going to tell you the same thing that the last person told you." I found this initial greeting to be unnecessary and a bit condescending. She was the third person I spoke with at their office who attempted to explain to me why my second bill was so high, and her explanation was no less vague, inconsistent, and confusing than the other two. I think what I found most annoying about the entire situation, though, was her attitude. She seemed very blasé and disinterested in rectifying the problem. It didn't even seem like she was taking the situation very seriously. In any event, I ultimately paid the bill, but my experience in dealing with their office/billing staff was far from satisfactory. They just seemed a bit sloppy and unprofessional to me. I won't be going back. read more

Came in as a first time patient for a consultation, I wanted help to create a skin plan for my cystic acne. Rebecca Patton came in extremely rushed and spoke so fast I had to ask her to please repeat herself which she did not appreciate. Very cold, and unwelcoming experience. Where do I start. My Wife and I of Norsk decent have suffered for years having pre-cancerous & cancerous lesions removed, by freezing and surgically. Every six month by our personal physician and a local Dermatologist. We live On Whidbey near Anacortes. A friend recommended Dr Berger. WOW WOW what a difference. We went from many at least ten every six months to now I think on the next visit maybe one. Dr Berger has us on a regimen that is easy and safe. As our age we also get rough nose skin, that's gone. The pores that use to collect oil gone. Dr Berger is so knowledgeable about skin. Before she went to UW's School oof Demonology she was a GP / Internist at the Great Medical School, The University of Washington, she is totally up on all the latest treatments We are so thankful we found her. Finally her staff. Another 10 STARS. The front Desk the billing and Dr Berger's assistants all professional and bend over backwards to help. If you are tired of freezing spots on your face and head. Please see her after way too many other Dermatologist over the years we finally found a great one We travel 80 miles to see her. We have neighbors who have like my wife had Melanoma and the bi annual multiple freezings. They also travel the 80 miles each way, Dr Berger and her Staff are that great!! read more

I've had 4 appointments, never saw the dr., only Rebecca. She gave me a prescription for 3 tubes of ointment, while 1 w refill would have been more appropriate, since i only needed a part of 1. What a waste! read more

They gave me a slice biopsy for a mole but took out so much more tissue than necessary, like several times more than the size of the mole itself. They told me to cover it with a waterproof band-aid and some aquaderm for a week and I'd be fine. It started to get infected so I treated it with some antibiotic cream, mupiricin, we already had from a prior incident. The mole removal took 2 months to heal, not a week. The scar is heinous. Additionally, they did a full body scan for other moles, which is great, but the way it was conducted was humiliating and degrading, and honestly that felt violating. I will not go back. I am sure there are more professional people in this industry and I can avoid this experience in future. I don't know who the nurse was but the doctor's name was Rebecca. read more

Great experience from the initial call to the end of the appt. It all starts with the front... they managed my questions and set up an appt in a reasonable time frame. The office is beautiful, all white and clean but with a warm inviting feel. Nicole the medical asst was confident and nice which made me feel at ease. Dr. Carmen Berger was smart, efficient but thorough, still maintaining a nice "bedside manner". She gave clear recommendations and the likely cause of each issue paired with a clear understanding of cost. All of this gave me the confidence to make decisions and get treatment while at this first appt. I was there for a medical skin issue... so feeling confident is important... definitely would go back for cosmetic upkeep. Cheers to aging gracefully. read more

I came for a skin cancer check and these guys are so professional and good at not making you feel uncomfortable. It's weird enough stripping down and asking someone "hey does this bump on my butt look normal" so I really appreciate how good they are at making you feel at ease. I also didn't feel like they were rushing me out. I felt like I had the complete undivided attention of the PA, which is a rare thing. I had to have two suspicious moles removed. I have actually never had any kind of real procedure done before and I was EXTREMELY anxious. Like, get me in a straight jacket hysterical. Excuse me you want to cut me while I'm AWAKE? They were so nice about the whole thing and didn't make me feel like the lunatic idiot I was being at all. They even gave me juice and snacks so I didn't faint on them. Also worth noting both moles removed had issues, so they definitely didn't just cut things for the sake of billing insurance. I had to come back for a bigger surgical excision and they did a great job. It was a pretty big incision and it's healing really nicely. There are parts of it you literally could not see it had been cut even right after it was stitched. The PA here (Rebecca Patton) is great at what she does. I'm right across the street from a different dermatologist, but I like coming here so much I'll keep trekking out here for my skin exams! read more

I was coming here for several months and felt like I wasn't able to create a plan for my skin with the doctor that I felt comfortable with. I really wanted to get off of antibiotics and after that it seemed like the only option I was accutane. I felt very pressured to do accutane but thankfully I did not give in (I am a pharmacy student and knew the side effects and that I could not handle them during that time in my life). I have left the office since and my new dermatologist has created a plan with me that has cleared up my skin without accutane or antibiotics. I know this isn't possible for everyone but I knew there were other options for my case. read more

I saw Rebecca and was stunned by her curt, dismissive responses to my questions about my condition and the procedure. Having worked in healthcare for years, I was amazed that she didn't provide any information about post-procedure care at home, preventive measures to avoid the problem in the future, etc. I had to practically drag all that information out of her. She said she would call to check on me the following day but did not. On the plus side: I was able to get an appointment very quickly and the office itself is very clean, attractive and calming. read more

I was charged $150 out of pocket for my appointment with Dr.Berger after asking the front desk multiple times if my insurance covered visits, and if this would be billed as preventative care. I was reassured repeatedly that this would be the case. The appointment itself went fine, she said I had some acne/pimples or whatever that had a Latin name I can't pronounce. It turns out this is "keratosis pilaris", a completely benign skin affecting about half the population. They let me go (seemingly!) and I was satisfied with how this visit went until I got a bill and my insurance provider told me that the doctor billed this as an office visit rather than preventative care, and that I would have to pay for the visit. I called the doctor and they told me that because I asked about the "skin condition" she pointed out, this was an office visit outside the scope of preventative care. I tried to explain that it is inappropriate to bait customers into paying out of pocket by scaring them with big Latin words that make it sound like they have leprosy, then proceeding to tell them to "do nothing and ignore them". To add insult to injury, I called the insurance provider and they explained to me that the doctor would have gotten the same statement balance except the insurance provider would cover it if they recoded the visit as preventative care (I asked for a simple skin cancer screening), but the doctor refuses. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone visit this doctor because of the unethical way they reel customers in to seeing them. Unless you enjoy paying out of pocket, in which case Carmen Burgler is your gal! P.S. An alternative way to safely see this doctor is to be completely stone and unflinching, asking zero questions. Even if she starts talking to your skin in Latin while clutching her rosary / making the cross sign with her hands, KEEP THOSE LIPS SEALED! Every word you speak might be an extra $10. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Berger's for 10 years and I'd follow her to any city! First it was worth the drive to Seattle from Tacoma, now it's worth the flight from Dallas. No dermatologist in Texas compares! Dr. Berger is the best. She is thorough and not in a hurry to rush through the appointment. The best dermatologist. We travel from eastern Washington to see her! (More recently we do remote appointments via Zoom during covid). She treats my husband, my son and me for our variery of derm issues and with each problem she is so clear and knowledgeable, but in a way that's easy to process and understand (and solve!). She answers my questions before I even ask. I leave our appointments with no questions left unanswered. For example: my prior dermatologist told me to treat my eczema with a steroid cream without telling me the specifics on how to use it, and it didn't work. She prescribed the exact same cream but told me exactly how to use it (on damp skin and frequently) and just that 30 seconds of information made all the difference. Her advice is spot on. We've seen her for pigmented/age spots, childhood eczema, adult eczema, and aging. I can't speak highly enough of her! read more

I was so pleased with the Physicians Assistant (my visit), the doctor (per follow-up call), the staff, the service I've received and the lovely inviting office as well. The doctor actually called me to follow-up after hours and make sure I had the medicine I needed for relief over the weekend. I have been to many dermatologist for different things and Dr. Berger is the first who took amazing car of myself, my son and my husband. Depending on traffic it can take me up to 2 hours to get to Arboretum Dermatology and it is worth every minute! Her business is immaculate and I love all the white marble! went here after reading great reviews in the past about dr berger. had consult and follow up with PA rebecca patton, who i think i thought was a dr at the time. yes the office is clean and white. but the front desk people stuck up and condescending. the PA is very much in a rush your whole appointment. not very thorough, does not like to be questioned, and anything "additional," is another fee or another appointment. the overall impressions is they are definitely out for your money. bummer since dr berger sounded like a great dermatologist. read more

Shocked by the bill! We have insurance, and we asked if they accepted our insurance, and they said they did, and the bill was ridiculously high both before and after insurance paid its share. Several hundred dollars for a quick skin check and lesion removal (5 second freeze). I will not be going back. My advice is ask for the charges before making an appointment. read more

I have been a patient of Rebecca Patton since she was at Madison Skin and Laser. She is a fantastic practitioner. She is quick, personable, on time, and highly skilled. I also really love the staff at Arboretum- they are quick, professional, and courteous. They offer a great selection of appointment times and can usually offer you an appointment that is within 2 days of the date you are calling. The office is great on follow up and their billing is always straight forward and made clear up front to avoid any confusion. The office itself is pristine and has free parking right out front. After receiving two incorrect diagnoses and prescriptions that did not resolve my issue, I came to Arboretum Dermatology to address a very distressing skin condition. Everyone who works here is really kind and easy to work with. Both of my appointments started on time (actually one started earlier than the scheduled time - never happened to me at a doctor's office before). Rebecca Patton, PA-C provided my treatment. She very quickly determined what was going on with my skin and what treatment I needed. She was very nice and very professional. I've been seeing Dr. Berger for 2 years now and couldn't be happier with the results. We worked together to cure cystic acne that I've had since my teens. I haven't had a new breakout in nearly a year and was able to partner with her on a treatment plan to address scarring, wrinkles and large pores. Treating serious skin concerns takes time, so keep coming back! Dr. Berger is the most helpful dermatologist I've seen-she listens to you and accepts that every body is different. She doesn't try to force meds on you; she tries to work with your concerns. My sister had been going to Arboretum Dermatology for years and always told me it was time to start seeing Dr. Berger for annual skin checks. Last week I finally decided it was time to see what could be done for a hand rash. They got me in very quickly and had the nicest people at the office front-end. Beautiful offices! My sister was right (usually is!) in that Dr. Berger is the best. She quickly gave me suggestions for the hand rash and since I had time, did an over all skin check. Wow, there is a great sense of relief knowing what each of my skin abnormalities are. Only one thing looked suspicious, got biopsied (NO pain!), and it came back to be nothing I need to worry about. More relief! Dr. Berger is highly skilled, kind hearted, and experienced in all areas of skin disorders. I couldn't be happier, and will be back for annual skin checks. I'm pretty disappointed. I recently had an appointment with Rebecca about a rash I had on my face. She took a look and immediately identified it as fever blisters, which was great and gave me a prescription for valacyclovir to take for 10 days so I was feeling hopeful. This wasn't my first time having this and I had taken different medication for it before that worked, but I trusted her and figured she knew best. After 6 days of taking the medication, there wasn't much improvement and the pain was still really bad so I went to my PCP and brought the medication just in case something was wrong. My PCP let me know that the dosage was completely incorrect so the medication wasn't actually doing anything. Rebecca had prescribed for me to take 1mg of valacyclovir every day for 10 days when, in reality, you're supposed to take 2mg of valacyclovir for only ONE day. I'm super disappointed because I didn't have to suffer for 6 days and even googling "valacyclovir dosage" validates what my PCP said. Super disappointed and will not be coming back read more
