Meanwhile I went to my PCP and it was definitely infected. He took a culture (tested positive) and started me on oral and topical antibiotics. He said it was a good thing I came in when I did. The next day I heard from Frontier because I had left a message and sent the photos. I was told on the phone that my wound was fine and to put Neosporin on it. I would not trust this clinic and would not go again. Anytime you mention an infection in a wound you should be seen right away by any doctor doing there job correctly.

I went with Allegra who was a darling from the minute I stepped into Dermaspace. Any worries or fears quickly drifted off given the dim lighting, chill music and zen ambiance. Allegra had a sweet personality, explained the entire process from start to finish, was knowledgeable about anything related to skincare and health, and most importantly, gentle. The facial was around an hour and fifteen minutes, including a discussion of my skin concerns, allergies, goals, etc. It consisted of roughly four total steps: 1) Gentle facial cleansing and exfoliation 2) Moisturization and detoxification using yucca soaked cloth within a volcanic heated cone 3) Deep cleaning of my entire face, clearing out any and all clogged pores 4) Ionization facial wrap of nourishing cotton with a leather mask connected to low voltage electrical current in order to ionize the solution. The manager replied at the time, acknowledging the issue and saying they were "fine-tuning appointment durations" and making adjustments. Wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt, I decided to try again this year. To be clear, the front desk staff and nurses have always been friendly and professional--no complaints there. During this most recent visit, they explained their internet was down, so I tried to be understanding. My appointment was at 11:50, but I wasn't called back until about 20 minutes later. After a brief conversation with the nurse, I changed into my gown and then waited another 15 minutes before the doctor (Andrea Jones) came in. She didn't apologize for the delay--just said, "Hi, thanks for your patience, welcome back." After waiting roughly 40 minutes past my appointment time, I expected a bit more acknowledgment, but I let it go. This was an annual skin exam. Dr. Jones asked about a mole on my cheek that had been bothering me last year, so I explained that I had it removed by another dermatologist a few months after my last appointment with her. I told her the area didn't completely smooth out after being shaved off, but that I wasn't eager to go through another cutting-and-healing process unless there was a less invasive option, like laser. She confirmed there wasn't, and said punching it out might be the best option. Somewhere in the conversation, things seemed to get lost in translation. I said I was tired of dealing with it, and she took that as me agreeing to another procedure. She then told me it would cost $750 since it was cosmetic. I was confused because I never said I wanted a procedure done. After we cleared that up, she responded: "Oh, then why are we even talking about this? We're just wasting our time talking about something you're not interested in treating." Like, I'm sorry--I'M wasting YOUR time?? Talk about RUDE. She had asked about my cheek, and I was simply answering her question. I never said I wasn't interested in improving it--only that I didn't want another surgical cut. That is not an appropriate way to speak to a patient. We continued with the skin exam. She mentioned my scalp looked irritated, so I explained the recent issues I'd had (acne flare-ups, scalp psoriasis, etc.). She listened, but showed no empathy for the stress or frustration I'd been dealing with. Her only response was, "Well, we can do a patch test," which felt more like another upsell than genuine care. My care started at Dr. Chiu, who addressed the medical concerns via a few injections and an extraction under my eye, all of which was done so gently that I hardly felt it! I was then transferred to Olga for laser treatment. She used a couple different speciality lasers at various points of my treatment, and within 7 sessions, completely and totally transformed my skin. Olga is knowledgeable, caring, and always gave me a thorough consultation regarding the treatments and expected recovery time. She always ensured my consent was obtained and informed (some of the procedures left bruising for a couple of days), and allowed me to drive when and how much treatment I wanted. For example, I had an event timed around one of our sessions and didn't want a lot of down time, so we adjusted the type of laser to still give me results but not leave bruising. I walked into every session feeling confident in her abilities regarding my scar treatment, and also always enjoyed her presence and our sweet conversation! Needless to say, after less than a year, my scar is almost completely gone. Even before the big scar, I never felt confident in my skin due to a lifetime of cystic acne and related scarring. I rarely left the house without makeup for 15+ years. Now, I hardly wear foundation, receive compliments on my skin everywhere I go, and finally, finally, am starting to love my skin again. Instead of putting my life in UW's waitlist of three months for potential cancer to spread, I searched "emergency dermatologist" and was relieved when Linnell Dermatology created an immediate appointment 2-days later. Nicole Hurley was amazing. She conducted a full body scan which resulted in a biopsy of my arm during the appointment and even more important the notice of lesions on my face and the prescription of chemotherapy facial cream. The doctor I previously saw had left Westside Dermatology (in retrospect I can only assume it was to get away from Artnzen). When she walked in the room she didn't even look at my face and at no point even bothered to examine my face. She came in and just arrogantly announced "It's Rosacea." (a misdiagnosis from years before) and then argued with me about how she'd "been doing this for 34 years and she just knows." Welp, she doesn't fucking know. She then proceeded to tell me that there were alternative treatments which I explained have never worked. I had to wait 3 weeks for this appointment to occur in the middle of when I should be asleep for my graveyard shift and this woman wants to argue with me over 100 doxycycline. During this conversation I bring up a potentially permanent solution suggested by my first doctor - this doctor who gets me in my pajamas and raincoat because it's basically the middle of the night for me and raining says "ohh, I wouldn't suggest that treatment, it could expose you to hepatitis." I couldn't for the life of me understand why a skin treatment would expose me to Hep-C. I finally get home and take a nap before my shift and wake up realizing, not only did this shitty arrogant argumentative asshole misdiagnose me without even bothering to look, she *ALSO* accused me of being a fucking heroin junkie! I'm a very tired overworked operations engineer being accused by this self-righteous ignorant judgmental incompetent fool of a doctor of being a drug addled needle user. I then wait an hour in the Costco pharmacy line to receive a prescription for only 30 pills when the prescription was for 100. 100 would last me over a year. Now i get to waste my time 3 times this year and pay more money for a prescription I have been getting for years. She never bothered to look at my medical history, or my file, couldn't be bothered to even examine my skin -- the whole point of forcing me to come in for this appointment -- misdiagnoses not only my skin issues, but then argues about my treatment and then low key accuses me of being a heroin junkie. This is 110% the WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. THIS WOMAN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE. Icing on the cake? I paid out of pocket for my visit and just got a bill from my old insurance that no longer covers me telling me that I owe $246.00 for this experience.
